Is it finally here? Spring?

So it looks like the last of the snow is finally melted from my front yard and what do I discover? There must have been a family of mice or something living under the snow. They have made a mess of my yard. There are tunnels going all through it just at the surface, I'm not sure if they invited all their out of town relatives or what, but there must have been quite a few of them here over the winter. So now what do I do? The grass is all torn up in trails weaving through out the whole yard.

I did some research on the internet to see what I could do to repair it and most of what I found said to just leave it alone and it will eventually just flatten out and new growth would occur. I want to go out and smash it down or rake it or something, it looks really bad. But I did notice that after the last rain we had it seemed to flatten out a little bit. So I'll be patient and wait and see what happens. I still need to get rid of the little pests though, maybe I need to get a cat!

Bunker Hills Trails

So since the weather is finally getting nicer, I decided to venture out from just walking the neighborhood to checking out the trails at Bunker Hills Park. It was a really nice day and the trails for the most part have been cleared of snow, but one thing is wasn't clear of was, "doggie dodo". I couldn't even walk 10 steps with out having to dodge the piles, and if I wasn't trying to dodge a pile I was dodging where someone else had already made their mark on it and spread it down the trail. It really made for a miserable trek. Now, I am a pet owner, a cat, and I have to clean out piles out of the litter box. If I left all that in there, it would get pretty messy and smell like the cat hoarders house, but it wouldn't have an affect on anyone else. I'm not a big fan of picking up smelly turds, but I am being a responsible pet owner.

It's nice to have such a beautiful park for everyone to enjoy, including our pets, but let's all try to keep it "beautiful"! Please pick up after your dogs!

Unclaimed Funds

Do you ever wish you could find some extra money just laying around? Maybe you have some unclaimed cash that you forgot about? (I don't think I could ever forget I had money due me) I happened to stumble across this link on the Anoka County website and thought I'd search my name just for kicks, no such luck for me, but maybe for you.

I couldn't believe the amounts of some of these checks and who they belong to. There was one for the IDS School Dist 12 for $25,000, Mercy Hospital for $14,577.63, Deutch Bank National Trust for almost $35,000 and the biggest one I found was for a John L Newmann for $56,040.00, (how could you not be missing $56K?) and there was even one for Home Depot for $5,750.88.

Here's a link to there website, maybe you'll get lucky tonight!! http://www.anokacounty.us/outstandingchecks/

Anoka County RX Card

Have you gotten your card in the mail yet? This was a surprise to me when I picked up my mail the other day. I hadn't heard anything about this until the card came, so had to go to the Anoka County website just to be sure this was legitimate, and sure enough there was the card and all the information I needed to verify this was real.

Thankfully I am not on any prescription medication so I won't need to use this, but I can see how it will come in very handy for people who need the help paying for their medication. I know that some prescription drugs can cost a lot of money and if you need more than one it really adds up.

I read that there is no cost to you or the County for this program, not sure who is funding it, you can read more on the Anoka County website: http://www.anokacounty.us/rxcard/default.aspx
