I'm Moving On

I didn't think about you once today, for the first time since I met you. When I woke up this morning, my first thought was simply that it was too cold to get out of bed; I did not wish that you were there beside me. I went to the closet and got dressed without thinking about whether or not you liked the shirt I was putting on, didn't think about whether you’d already seen me in the sweater I layered over it. I skipped breakfast, as I always do, and I didn't hear your voice chastising me in the back of my head, I just glanced at the clock, grabbed my keys, and shut the door firmly behind me.

I didn't see anyone who reminded me of you on my way to work. I didn't hear anyone who had your laugh, didn't see anyone sporting the same shoes you wear.

At the office, I answered phones, got coffee, checked emails, sorted paperwork, chatted with coworkers, spaced out, got stuff done, all without interruption. When my boss handed me a bunch of work right before it was time to leave, I didn't have to suppress the urge to text you and complain, didn't even think back to a time when something like this would have made me late to have dinner with you. I made it home eventually, and when I got there I called up a friend and asked if he wanted to come over and watch television with me. He did. We laughed, we made popcorn, we had a great time, and not once did either of us mention your name.

I went out for a run with my iPod on shuffle, and I heard a song we danced to together at our favorite bar, the night you wore a dark gray t-shirt and I ordered my usual, one shot too many. But that memory of you didn't accompany it this time. I didn't care that you weren't with me, I just kept on running.

As I’m lying here in bed, about to close my eyes and drift off to a place where I will not dream of you, this is when I realize I haven’t thought about you today. Some might say this realization ends my streak-of-not-thinking-of-you, that I've inadvertently let your ghost return to haunt me once again, but this is not true at all. See, in thinking about how I haven’t thought of you, I’m not really thinking about you at all — I’m finally thinking about me.

You’re just an idea now, a dark shadow, something I’m only considering as it relates to my own evolution. I’m recalling what I used to be like when you were all I ever thought about, when you seemed to own my thoughts morning, noon, and night. I’m thinking about the tear-stained pillows and empty wine bottles that decorated my room in the time I spent trying to get over you. I’m remembering how badly I longed to free myself from your spell, but secretly believed that day would never come.

And yet, that day is here, that day is today, the day I did not think of you, and I cannot help but smile, for I am finally free. Everyone said it would happen eventually, and I’m happy to report they were right (as they almost always are). I've moved on, as we all seem to do eventually. The best part is, I doubt I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow either or ever again.

This actually should have been posted a few weeks back...but didn't. So am posting it now...

Every man has a story to tell about his childhood days and they will be incomplete without the tales of their mothers...Fathers can mitigate or reinforce a mother's views, but she is the life-giver and, even in today's changing society, still the chief nurturing figure in the family...There is yet another story narrating the strong relationship a mother had with her son. It is said that when Franklin Roosevelt was quarantined with scarlet fever at boarding school, his distraught mother Sara used to climb a ladder to peer through the window of his room to check on his recovery. It is true that son looks up to the mother with both wonder and awe before they start their journey of life...

She is our first teacher, she teaches us to laugh, she is the one who teaches us our first ever word we would ever say...Yet, she is one of the most ignored persons in our life...

I here take an opportunity to wish this beautiful person a very happy Mothers Day...

Two Lives Taken...

EXCERPTS FROM A CAT'S DIARY

DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant.

DAY 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded, must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair...must try this on their bed.

DAY 765 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was...Hmmm. Not working according to plan.

DAY 768 - I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good reason I was chosen for the water torture. This time however it included a burning foamy chemical called "shampoo." What sick minds could invent such a liquid?

My only consolation is the piece of thumb still stuck between my teeth.

DAY 771 - There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the foul odor of the glass tubes they call "beer." More importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.

DAY 774 - I am convinced the other captives are flunkies, and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The bird on the other hand has got to be an informant, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured. But I can wait; it is only a matter of time...

5 Stages Of Drunkeness...

Stage 1 - SMART- This is when you suddenly become an expert on every subject in the known Universe. You know you know everything and want to pass on your knowledge to anyone who will listen. At this stage you are always RIGHT. And of course the person you are talking to is very WRONG. This makes for an interesting argument when both parties are SMART.

Stage 2 - GOOD LOOKING- This is when you realize that you are the BEST LOOKING person in the entire bar and that people fancy you. You can go up to a perfect stranger knowing they fancy you and really want to talk to you. Bear in mind that you are still SMART, so you can talk to this person about any subject under the sun.

Stage 3 - RICH- This is when you suddenly become the richest person in the world. You can buy drinks for the entire bar because you have an armoured truck full of money parked behind the bar. You can also make bets at this stage, because of course, you are still SMART, so naturally you win all your bets. It doesn't matter how much you bet 'cos you are RICH. You will also buy drinks for everyone that you fancy, because now you are the BEST LOOKING person in the world.

Stage 4 - BULLET PROOF- You are now ready to pick fights with anyone and everyone especially those with whom you have been betting or arguing. This is because nothing can hurt you. At this point you can also go up to the partners of the people who you fancy and challenge to a battle of wits or money. You have no fear of losing this battle because you are SMART, you are RICH and hell, you're BETTER LOOKING than they are anyway!

Stage 5 - INVISIBLE- This is the Final Stage of Drunkenness. At this point you can do anything because NO ONE CAN SEE YOU. You dance on a table to impress the people who you fancy because the rest of the people in the room cannot see you. You are also invisible to the person who wants to fight you. You can walk through the street singing at the top of your lungs because no one can see or hear you and because you're still SMART you know all the words.

the past few days i have been idle..with no tasks at hand..so i tried my hand at writing...yet again..
the topic well..was an interesting one...
the poem is about a lover who dreams of falling in love with a very beautiful girl...and knows that cannot be possible..this poem is about his thoughts of finding his love..though its just a dream..

The past few days have been filled with lots of ups and (more) downs for me. I don't know what is in store for me in the coming few days. I have disabled all the social networking profiles I have...and now am trying to isolate myself from the outer world, hoping to be back soon and wishing all the problems I have be solved at the earliest. As I bid adieu to all of you, I want to share a poem, written some days or should I say months ago with you all...the poem is titled 'Never Say Goodbye'

and I wish to dedicate this poem to a certain girl, whom I got acquainted with a few months ago...who since then has been a special part of my life.

And I take this opportunity to say that I will miss her a lot.

A Divine Intervention...

Yesterday..as all the nation was celebrating Eid-Ul-Fitr and Ganesha Chaturthi..i was no exception.

These two Festivals, once considered the most important in the Muslim calender, while without the other, the Hindu calender isn't complete.

Anyways..so i was celebration mode, with the Ganapti celebrations in the colony, and the Eid celebrations at a friend's place. the Eid celbrations, well..ate nothing but the Sheer Korma, which i absolutely gorge on and for that reason always waiting for the Eid to come.

So, the as Eid celebrations wore on, they took me and my friends to a neighboring Hookah Parlor, and as we all know how the craze of the hookah is catching on with the youth of today. So, belonging to that same youth and with the sheer curiousity of tasting a hookah, i went on with friends and got seated at a table. Though having smoked it quite a few times before, this time i had a feeling it would be something new. Just as we started smoking, a good friend of mine happened to text me, and i told her about what i was doing when asked by her. As soon as i said, m smoking a hookah, the next text from her and i quote,"Tu Hookah bhi peeta hai? :| :|", and i was like yes i do..Getting angered by my positive reply, she started telling me how bad hookah is and i was its fine and not as dangerous as smoking a cigerette, but then as the conversation went on, i thought to myself,"Is hookah really bad? Is it really better than its counterpart, the cigerette?"

Then i decided to find out about the history of the hookah, its origin and its effects. And here is what i find.

A hookah (Hindustani: हुक़्क़ा (Devanagari), حقّہ (Nastaleeq) huqqā) or waterpipe is a single or multi-stemmed (often glass-based) instrument for smoking in which the smoke is cooled and filtered by passing through water. Originally from India, hookah has gained popularity, especially in the Middle East and is gaining popularity in North America, Europe, Australia and Brazil.

The hookah lounge (also called a shisha bar, especially in Britain and parts of Canada, or a hookah bar) is an establishment where patrons share shisha (flavored tobacco) from a communal hookah or nargile which is placed at each table.

Some hookah lounges are business modeled as such from their inception. Others are cafés or other establishments to which the element of hookah smoking was added later. Hookah lounges of all sorts have become popular in parts of Europe and North America in the last decade.

An elderly patron of an establishent in Turkey describes the advantages of the hookah lounge as follows:

"Smoking a hookah is nothing like smoking a cigarette...cigarettes are for nervous people, competitive people, people on the run...when you smoke a hookah, you have time to think. It teaches you patience and tolerance, and gives you an appreciation of good company."

A younger customer adds:

"The important thing is not what you put in the pipe, but who is with you while you're smoking...it's a complete experience...in a cafe like this one, you find the good people, the old people, the interesting people. As long as there is a need for company and friendship, as long as people want to stop and think, there will be nargile cafes."

Effects of Hookah :

Hookah smoking is not safer than cigarette smoking. Also known as narghile, shisha and goza, a hookah is a water pipe with a smoke chamber, a bowl, a pipe and a hose. Specially made tobacco is heated, and the smoke passes through water and is then drawn through a rubber hose to a mouthpiece. The tobacco is no less toxic in a hookah pipe, and the water in the hookah does not filter out the toxic ingredients in the tobacco smoke.

Although the use of Hookah has been commonly attributed to be much worse than regular tobacco smoke, tests remain inconclusive as to the true "damage" of the hookah. Some studies conclude that Hookah smoke is safer than tobacco cigarette smoke, while other studies refute this claim.

Each hookah session typically lasts more than 40 minutes, and consists of 50 to 200 inhalations that each range from 0.15 to 0.50 liters of smoke. Reports by the World Health Organization and the American Cancer Society have shown that, in a one-hour hookah session, users consume about 100 to 200 times the smoke and about 70 times more nicotine than they would in one cigarette.

The water used to filter the smoke does not work efficiently to remove all the harmful chemicals.

A study on hookah smoking and cancer in Pakistan was published in 2008. Its objective was "to find serum CEA levels in ever/exclusive hookah smokers, i.e. those who smoked only hookah (no cigarettes, bidis, etc.), prepared between 1 and 4 times a day with a quantity of up to 120 g (the average bowl in holds 30g) of a tobacco-molasses mixture each (i.e. the tobacco weight equivalent of up to 60 cigarettes of 1 g each) and consumed in 1 to 8 sessions". Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a marker found in several forms of cancer. Levels in exclusive hookah smokers were lower compared to cigarette smokers although the difference was not statistically significant between a hookah smoker and a non-smoker. Also the study concluded that heavy hookah smoking (2–4 daily preparations; 3–8 sessions a day ; 2 to 6 hours) substantially raises CEA levels.

While research about hookah smoking is still emerging, evidence shows that it poses many dangers:

-Hookah smoke contains high levels of toxic compounds, including tar, carbon monoxide, heavy metals and cancer-causing chemicals (carcinogens). In fact, hookah smokers are exposed to more carbon monoxide and smoke than are cigarette smokers.

-As with cigarette smoking, hookah smoking is linked to lung and oral cancers, heart disease and other serious illnesses.

-Hookah smoking delivers about the same amount of nicotine as cigarette smoking does, possibly leading to tobacco dependence.

-Hookah smoke poses dangers associated with secondhand smoke.

-Hookah smoking by pregnant women can result in low birth weight babies.

-Hookah pipes used in hookah bars and cafes may not be cleaned properly, risking the spread of infectious diseases.

I had no idea that hookah was bad for you when it was first big, I think that because the tobacco is flavored and the smoke is filtered before you inhale it, people don't realize how bad it is for you.

Losing A Piece Of My Soul

Last Night...

Last night, unable to sleep i wandered into a part of my past,
an knowingly unknown territory for me, for a past few years.
The part i really want to forget, but i just can seem to let go.
So, lets not stretch this part any further...
Am talking about my first love, which i really wanted to flourish,
but i could do nothing.
Me and her gave many chances to our relationship to be back on track,
but nothing saved it.
After 4 years of struggling to keep up, it all ended.
With that ended the struggle, which i think only i was doing.
She never showed any signs of that struggle, but always said that
she wants this going.
How many days was i going to try and revive the ties?
After the break-up happened, i had vowed not establish
any sort of contact with her.
But then being my first and only love, how can I forget her?

Thinking and thinking, I happened to pen down a poem, which
Describes what I really want to do.
The struggle to keep her out of my life, the struggle to wash away her thoughts.

Why Am I Blogging?

Sometimes when am just sitting idle, doing nothing or just wasting time on a stupid social networking site, I think why do I do this, when I can utilize my time for good things. Sometimes I wish if I could really do something good, cuz I don’t seem to have that good side to do good deeds. So for once am trying to bring out my good side and now am trying to do a good deed now and hence making a blog for myself.
Infact, I had a blog some time ago, but I forgot the address and can’t seem to find that one.
And btw, don’t go by the address of this blog, it all may not be confessions made from the heart of a biker.
Here you will read all sorts of things, from sports to bikes, from my friends stories to my not-so-good poems. Poems well, all may not be mine but I will seriously make an effort to post my own poems here.
Hopefully you all will read it, and I hope like them too, and there is another hope that you will all follow it as well.

So, lets start !
