The newest version of the #1 selling consumer photo-editing software, Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 delivers powerful yet easy-to-use editing options that help you tell your life stories in amazing ways. And automatically organize and help protect all your photos and video clips.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 software offers a complete solution for photos:

Make every photo look its best with easy-to-use editing options.

Make photo books, cards, calendars, and other creations that look just the way you want.

Quickly share photos in fun, interactive Online Albums and on mobile devices.

Automatically organize all your photos and video clips from one convenient place.

Enjoy automatic online backup with 2GB of free storage, and conveniently access your photos and videos virtually anywhere you are.

Below is the review by one the customers that bought Adobe Photoshop Element 9;

I upgraded from Photoshop Elements (PSE) 6 for Windows to PSE9 for Mac and was glad to see that the Mac and Windows versions were essentially the same. Since I use iPhoto for organizing, I can't say anything about PSE's Organizer, but I gave the Editor a workout.

Elements is at the high end of what I'll spend for a photo editor, and I buy roughly every third version to keep the price reasonable over the years, so it's time, and I'm happy to say that 9.0 fits my needs . . . and then some.

Like PSE6, PSE9 it is a great overall photo editor. It does a good job of enhancing photos, either with a click of a button or just a few clicks if I happen to disagree with the Auto Smart Fix. It can process batches of photos that all need the same work done to them. And it has enough manual controls (histograms, contrast, brightness, shadows/highlights, red eye, color correction, layers, etc.) to do just about anything to a photo you can imagine.

Pros:

It works smoothly with iPhoto; I could switch back and forth easily and quickly and open multiple photos at once for editing.

It's fast on my MacBook Pro.

The editor hasn't crashed yet, and I'm running through thousands of photos.

All of the features that I'm familiar with from previous versions still work well, and some, like the magic lasso, work even better than before.

Content-aware healing can perform minor miracles in my hands. In the hands of an expert, or someone with more patience, it can probably perform major miracles.

The Guided Edits helped me visualize the steps involved for some of the more complicated features, which helped me make better use of the Full Edit.

PhotoMerge Group Shot is incredibly easy to use. I had two photos shot at different distances, and PSE had no trouble making the necessary adjustments.

Removing clutter from photographs is simple.

Oh happy day, Elements now has layer masks, a feature that used to be the domain of its pricier sibling. Now you can make parts of a layer more or less opaque, allowing for some really neat effects. I won't use this often, but a few of my photos are just crying out for it.

Cons:

The Welcome Screen is still annoying. Fortunately, you can set it up to go straight to the Organizer or Editor.

It still can't batch process the Save for Web feature. Sigh.

My camera has a panorama assistant but doesn't stitch them together, so I was interested in PSE9's enhanced panorama stitching. For the most part, it's very easy. PSE does most of the work. Unfortunately, it created an enormous file--117mg--out of my five 5mg photos and ran out of RAM before it could finish everything--even after I maxed out the RAM in Preferences. I ended up with a very nice panorama but had to reduce the file size before doing some of the final touches myself. Then the final jpeg size turned out to be smaller than any of the individual photos.

Yeah, I would have liked a manual.

If you are currently using PSE 8, there may not be enough new features to warrant an upgrade yet, though the content-aware healing might make it worth it. From version 6? Definitely.

If you have never used Elements, this is a great application with a bit of a learning curve. Get the free one-month trial, and borrow a book on it from the library. That's where I'll be headed once the manuals for version 9 show up.
His book Strategic Stock Trading demystifies the stock market by explaining what truly makes the stock market and individual stocks move the way they do and shows you how you can take advantage of it. The book explains the principles required for you to become an elite trader in the stock market, including what and when to buy and sell using the Two Fold Formula, how to manage risk, and how to be able to foresee real changes in the overall trend of the market before the crowd does. There are many investment books that describe aspects of technical and fundamental analysis. This one puts them together and shows you have to really use them in a strategic way backed by real life experiences and examples. It also discusses the psychology of investors in the market and how hedge funds and institutional investors now influence the stock market more than ever before and what the individual investor must do in this type of market to succeed.

GoToMyPC: Access Your Office PCs from Anywhere
You will often hear people sigh about the "rat race" and pine for a so-called "simpler time" 10, 20 or 50 years ago when everything was just right. The problem is, there never was such a time, and 50 years ago people were pining for an older era, too. However, there is one group of people who have no illusions about "good old days." Internet professionals, information technology (IT) workers and high-tech folks in general have no desire to go back to DOS 5.0, 5¼ inch floppies and 4.88MHz processors. They may have fond memories of visiting The Well over a phone modem, but they know that going back to that level of functionality would be ludicrous.

Tech pros spend a lot of time making the Web faster, easier and more efficient in ways most people don't even know about. In fact, even some fairly net-savvy folks don't know how web hosting affects SEO results. Factors of good hosting are another set of line items in your SEO, and there are some best practices to follow for optimal results.

Up, down, all around

Most basically, if you don't have a dependable host that keeps your site up 99.99% of the time, you are at risk for being considered "kaput." That is, if your site is down when Google and the other search engines want to index your site, they will just skip right over you. Maybe you can survive this once, and the search engine crawlers will most likely come back again, but if it happens again you are sending bright red flags up the virtual flagpole. Your credibility is at stake.

There is a similar problem if you have a slow-loading site. Now, the term "slow" is relative, of course, but Google and the other big search engine operators are always thinking in terms of "user experience"-more specifically, a good user experience-and most Web users expect pages to load in seconds. If it takes too long to load, you annoy your visitor, hurting your user experience - and Google does not want to put annoying slow pages at the top of their results pages. Plus, search engines have been programmed to logically expect the most important information to be near the top of a page. If you have too much stuff on the page, haven't optimized your Flash graphics, rely on inferior audio/video streaming or otherwise put obstacles on the page, the search bots won't hang around waiting for long. If your fabulous new content is at the bottom of a molasses-speed page, it may not even get cataloged. All your creative work will be for naught.

Who, what, where

Real estate pros know the power of location, location, location. Smart Web strategists do, too. If you want to rank in a certain country, like where most of your business is done, you should to be hosted-or be seen as being hosted-in that same country. Again, it goes to both credibility and efficiency, and you need to remember just what it is that search engines are looking for, how to decide what they're seeing and what they do with the information.

The more you have happening on the Internet, the more you have to manage the process, get every bit of information you can and stay abreast of what Google, Bing and the other major players are doing-and how it affects you and your results. This means everything from adding fresh content and knowing how to handle Domain Name Server issues to understanding what all the numbers mean on the metrics/analytics report. There's a lot to it, and it doesn't happen with one person doing it all. However, one person needs to manage it all, and make some hard decisions.

The tech side and the "eyes of the spider"

Some of the hard decisions involve the nuts and bolts of the Web, the way that servers really function and code really runs. The.htaccess files have a number of diverse and important functions, among which are authorization and authentication duties. These files often specify security restrictions for a particular directory (that's how "access" got in the name when the open-source Apache debuted). The files are also put into play for customized error responses, but most importantly,.htaccess files enable servers to control caching by browsers and proxies to reduce server load, used bandwidth and perceived lag.

With another technology, isapi rewrites, you can optimize dynamic content like e-stores and forums for indexing by popular search engines. You can also "proxy" content of one site into the directory of another, and create a virtual directory structure of the site that hides physical files and extensions. This helps when you want to move from one technology to another. The fact that isapi rewrite technology can return browser-dependent content, even for static files, is another efficiency that looks good to the search engines. What works for Google is usually the best route to the public.

Watch all your p's and q's, cover all the technical bases, and you can keep your site up to date, refreshed, available to search engines and SEO-optimized. There's a lot to manage, but the payoff is huge-and you don't even want to think about the downside! It's net oblivion if you mismanage things in the "eyes of the spider."

As everyone reading should know (just by being here!), web hosts own and operate the servers, or dedicated "communications computers," that allow users to place websites on the Internet for public and/or private viewing and use. Before choosing a web host, a user must first have a registered domain name and the ability to create the pages that will be uploaded, although some hosts will provide basic tools for this.

A user has three possible options for a web hosting service-virtual private servers, shared servers and dedicated servers-but the purpose of this article is to offer help in selecting among the two most popular kinds, dedicated and shared. These are differentiated by the amount of control a user needs or wants, as well as level of responsibility the user must share in the smooth, consistent and continuous running of the website and the server on which it is located. Shared web hosting

As the name denotes, shared web hosting means a number of small to medium-sized users upload their websites and "serve" them up to the Internet from a single, shared server. This is a popular option for beginners, individuals, small and/or new business, or organizations such as non-profits with limited budgets. All shared web hosting packages offer very little in the way of bandwidth (traffic) and disk space (storage). The shared option is the best choice when the user does not expect much traffic and doesn't need to store space-hogging media files (audio, video, animations, etc.). With a shared web hosting deal, the maintenance of the server, its organization of files, software installations, security updates and so forth are the responsibility of the host provider.

The host is accountable for keeping the server up and running, and they will use powerful "administration" software to run the entire server, while offering the individual users limited "control panels" for managing their own sites. Most of the shared web servers are running on the Linux Operating System (OS) as it has tremendous flexibility and is an open-source (essentially free) OS. However, other web host providers use the Microsoft Windows platform, and some use both Linux and Windows. Dedicated web hosting

As the name once again suggests, dedicated web hosting means each website is on a single, dedicated server, shared with no other website under any conditions. This is the option to take when a user expects to get a large amount of traffic and/or needs much more bandwidth then available in a shared hosting package. Dedicated servers can handle volume traffic with greater ease, and will be required if you need complex web applications, secure information exchange and highly customized activities at your website.

The dedicated server hosting plans give the user 100% control over their sites and servers, but with that comes 100% of the responsibility to keep the website running smooth and performing consistently. This type of web hosting, therefore, requires the user to have the technical and managerial knowledge to monitor the systems and rectify any problems at once. This type of hosting is best for professionals who need full control, which obviously includes large corporations and organizations as well as most commercial operations.

A recap of comparative strengths:

Shared servers are servers that are shared with several other businesses or organizations, and you will have only limited control over server operations. You will have full control over your own site's look and operation, however, but remember that someone else on the server can bring your site down.

A dedicated server is one that is used only by you, and can't be interfered with by a third party. If you have the requisite expertise and equipment, it can be maintained and hosted at your own place of business, although it is more frequently done at a hosting company's location.

The size of the budget you are working, and the specific details of your business needs and Internet goals, will determine which hosting service you choose.

A dedicated server belongs to you and no other recipient. You have all control over the "box", which means you will pay a higher price for a dedicated server. Shared servers can be less costly, by splitting the cost with several other users.

Dedicated servers are perfect for those businesses that have crucial security concerns about the way they acquire, store and use customer or other confidential information. E-commerce sites are a good example of this. If your business is involved in E-commerce, then a dedicated server is the way to go.

You might prefer a dedicated server, simply because your business image may be compromised without one. If you happen to find your shared server is hosting an adult website or other unsavory enterprise, such as spammers or hackers, this may end up reflecting on your own business.

The actions of others on a shared server can bring your site down in many ways, not the least of which is by attracting the attention of authorities that may want to shut down the entire server. Concern for reputation is a definite reason to use a dedicated server vs. a shared one.

Remote systems can use Microsoft Windows, Linux, Mac OS, or Microsoft Pocket PC. If firewalls or routers have kept you from implementing remote connectivity, pcAnywhere 12.5 is the ideal solution. Built-in gateway functionality enables remote users to find the hosts they need behind network devices, with minimal setup and without requiring hosts to have fixed or public IP addresses. The gateway automatically scans for pcAnywhere hosts on its subnet. Remote users simply connect to the gateway, which then displays the list of pcAnywhere hosts available to them.
(Nasdaq:CTXS), indicates that U.S. workers aged 18-34 prefer flexible working conditions 2:1 over other age groups. In fact, 70% of survey respondents agreed that working remotely would be a welcome opportunity. In an era where acquiring and retaining good employees is a challenge, and the workforce is becoming increasingly young and mobile, offering the ability to Web commute can serve as a competitive edge for recruiters.

“Web commuter” is a new term applied to the growing number of people performing at least part of their jobs from virtually anywhere, at any hour of the day, thanks to technology that allows them to “take their office with them” wherever they go. The national Web commuter survey, conducted by the polling company, inc. shows that:

Although 23% of American workers regularly work from an offsite location, using Web technology to do their jobs, 62% of those who don’t currently Web commute agreed they would like to do so.

Respondents aged 18-34 were more apt than most to look forward to controlling their own schedules, while 35-44 year olds said they would prize more time with family.

Overall, the younger the respondent, the more apt he or she was to perceive value in online tools and services that enable them to work remotely.

The difference between the values expressed by younger workers versus others makes sense, given the proportionally higher facility with the Internet among Generations X and Y than among older workers.“

As Baby Boomers retire, employers will be forced to compete for younger workers, for whom technology is a native tongue,” said Kellyanne Conway, CEO and president of the polling company, inc. “Offering the ability to Web commute is an easy way to provide a valued benefit to this age group.”

The polling company survey was sponsored by Citrix Online, a provider of easy-to-use, secure and affordable Web-based services for remote computer access and online collaboration. Citrix Online coined the term “Web commuting” to describe the behavior uncovered in the survey.
“Anyone of any age can benefit from new, low-cost technologies that are as easy to use and as indispensable as e-mail and cell phones,” said Bernardo de Albergaria, vice president and general manager, global marketing and eCommerce for Citrix Online. “Younger workers expect freedom and flexibility, and online remote access and collaboration services enable people to work on their own terms. When employers provide these tools for connecting employees with their PCs, customers, prospects and co-workers across town or halfway around the world, everyone benefits.”

Using Citrix Online on-demand tools that can be instantly accessed over the Internet from any computer, Web commuters can view and use everything on their desktop, including all of their files, e-mail and other applications – exactly as if they were sitting in front of their own PCs. They can show their computer screens to other people while speaking with them on the phone, and even deliver presentations to large groups of audiences from a home-office PC. All of these tools make it possible for employers to recruit workers across a broad geographic area because it’s not essential for employees to be at their desks in a traditional office environment every day.

Citrix Online’s suite of Web-based services include:

Citrix® GoToAssist®, for real-time remote support

Citrix® GoToMeeting®, for online meetings

Citrix® GoToMyPC®, for people to remotely access their desktop PC

Citrix® GoToWebinar™, for do-it-yourself presentations to up to 1,000 people

For more information about Web commuting and a free trial of GoToMyPC

About Citrix
Citrix Systems, Inc.
