How to fix a broken Toyota or Scion remote case

We get a lot of people asking how to fix their Toyota remotes when the case breaks. (Usually where the key ring attaches) Most people are looking for a cheap alternative because of the high cost of the remote.

There are several options:

Replace the remote with a new or used remote - Most expensive
Use a JACKET to cover your existing remote

Replacement:

This is your most expensive option and will cost you over $100 or more if you buy a new one. A used one will cost you a 1/3rd of the price. Just make sure where you buy from offers you a warranty. Like us, we offer a 6 month warranty.

Is there a replacement case available?

No. Toyota used several different manufactures of their remotes and on the outside they may look the same, but inside the circuit board is different and it usually won't be able to transfer into a different case as it also has different mounting locations.

Jacket or cover:

This is the cheapest and probably the most protective way to go. The jackets are made of a high quality silicone that is manufactured here in the USA. They slip over your existing remote and add a shock barrier over your remote. I've personally put one on my remote 3 years ago because the ring broke off. The jacket allowed my remote to be reattached to the ring and I was up and running.

How to determine if you have factory installed keyless entry on FORD vehicles

Do you own a Ford vehicle but you want to know if you have factory installed keyless entry?

Follow these quick steps and you will know before you buy.

Switch ignition from OFF to ON 8 times within 10 seconds:

(make sure you turn the key to the ON position. If the engine cranks, you went to far)

Doors should lock and unlock

If the door locks cycle (lock and unlock) then you know you have factory installed keyless entry. If nothing happens try again, but cycle the key faster.

This is one of the most common questions asked.

There are really 2 ways to tell if you have it or not.

The simplest is to check our site out, under the category of your vehicle, we list, easy to follow instructions that will guide you through the process. Once you follow the instructions, and you vehicle responds, (usually by the doors locking and unlocking) then you know you have factory installed keyless entry. If you don't find the instructions, email us :remotes4you@att.net and we'll guide you through the steps.

The other way, provide us with you complete VIN # and we'll check to see if you have factory installed keyless entry, and get back to you with the correct part number.
