...to see the Florida Gators going downhill so quickly. I'm not bitter simply because Florida beat Ohio State in the two most significant collegiate events in 2007. In fact, I'll go so far as they deserved to win based on the way they played compared to the Buckeyes in those two games.

However, those stupid Gator fans are so annoying. At the men's NCAA Championship Game last year, I was so sick of the "41-14" chants...what goes around, comes around. Worse yet is after the game, a bunch of the obnoxious Gator fans got in the face of a nice quiet old couple minding their own business and did the stupid chomp thing. That's without question one of the dumbest things I've seen (yes, definitely worse than the O-H-I-O).

As much as I hate Michigan, I hate Florida even more, so it was nice to see Florida blow the Capital One Bowl (on top of the other 3 losses this season). Even better was the b-ball rematch between Ohio State and Florida in December. The tides are turning...

By the way, has there ever been a human being more ugly than Joakim Noah?

The Post Office

So I had to stop by the post office this morning on the way to work to get something sent via Certified Mail. I walk in the door of the Martin Luther King Jr branch at 1400 L St NW, and the first thing that I notice (given that I'm an "Eskimo") is that it's at least 85 degrees inside and a line of about 12 people. The last two times I stopped at this same post office for something, I ended up turning around because of the ridiculous line. However, the last time I left, I had waited a few minutes before giving up and then ended up waiting in another line in a different (yet more pleasant) post office further away.

Anyway, I decide to wait it out this time since I won't have another good opportunity to go elsewhere during normal business hours, but I'm already breaking a sweat in my suit. I take off my suit jacket and loosen my tie, but I cannot even stand still without fanning myself with my soon-to-be-mailed letter. There appear to be 3 people working as I peek around to the front of the line, but only one of them is doing anything, so only 1 of the 3 clerk windows is open.

30 minutes later...

...I make it to the front of the line. They just opened up a second window for the person in front of me. I overhear the customer speaking broken English say that she has something that is being sent overseas, and she currently have a 75-cent stamp. The worker says that it will cost 90 cents to mail, and the woman seems to be confused about what she needs to do. The post office worker pulls out a sheet of paper and a pen, begins to scribble something on the paper, and after literally 10-15 seconds of calculations, tells the woman that she needs to add another 15 cents of postage.

I make my experience with the same post office worker as quick as possible trying to avoid any unnecessary calculations, and after my 30 minutes of waiting in the sauna and 1.5 minutes of being helped, I finally leave noticing that the other window that had now been open is now vacant, and the line has grown to about 18-20 people as I walk out the door.

Digg losing control

One of my favorite sites that I visit on a regular basis is Digg as it allows me to quickly get up to speed on the top news and other events around the world based on the number of times an article or web page has been "Dugg." Unfortunately, earlier this week after removing articles relating to the crack of an HD DVD encryption key, the site was bombarded with angry users who posted numerous articles with clever ways of including the cracked key since articles were being removed. Instead of being able to actually use the site as I normally do, I had to sift through all of the HD DVD crap that people for some reason thought was a good idea. Why would you get upset when the site has a Terms of Use that requires users to avoid infringement of intellectual property (which is clearly the case with the HD DVD key hack). I guess some these people would rather put a great site at risk of being shut down than being responsible. Good job...

Another year has come and gone, and I'd like to take the time to thank my family and friends who have continued to be there for me even though I may not have always offered the same in return. Unfortunately, over the past year I have gone from working too hard to working too hard, too long, and too often; or even when I'm not working, thinking or complaining about work. It's taken too long to realize the truly valuable things in life, but I think I am finally seeing things more clearly. I plan to start fresh and get back to enjoying life in 2007, and I hope that I can have a more positive impact on my family and friends as well.

While I'm making changes, I hope to bring Renots.com back to life by posting much more often. I wish you all a safe and happy New Year!

Great...so I'm going to Australia and Fiji soon for my honeymoon, and the news of the day is about a potential coup in Fiji. Apparently, two Australian warships are on standby to evacuate Australian citizens should something happen. I guess the good news is that there could be worse places to be stranded than Fiji ;-)

Well, it although it took much longer than expected and the changes up to this point are pretty minor, the move to Renots.com is now official. The automatic redirection page will stick around for a few months, but please be sure to update your links/bookmarks to Renots.com. More changes to come when I get some time and creativity.

Oh, and in case you are wondering why the site has been down for more than a month: I upgraded my email package with my hosting service but found out after the fact that this "upgrade" actually removed my web hosting service. Hopefully I have it straightened out now...

Of course I say that now, but I'll probably forget with the wedding planning and excessive work and all...oh, well.
