Unless you were dead to the world, or in Canada, I hope you didn't miss men's snowboarding superpipe finals. The most epic part of the night was the ridiculous tweet show that went down. Here's a look back at some of the commentary along with my feelings on what was said.

Undoubtedly, Kazu Kokubo has style for ages. Does that mean he has a run to beat out the competition? Absolutely not! Again, style and amplitude isn't always better than technicality when a contest such as X-Games is going down. Have to give him credit for switching things up his last run, though.

Columbia Omni-Heat: A Review

A few weeks ago, Columbia Outerwear contacted a group of bloggers to have them review their Omni-Heat series. Being one of those selected, I was sent the Women's Frosty Forest Parka to review.

I decided to have an XL jacket sent to me, being that I know women's jackets generally don't fit well. I have curves and am not a size 2 so I was hoping my decision wouldn't be a bad one. After receiving the jacket, I was slightly concerned. The jacket fit decently well but was short on the waist.

I wore this jacket snowboarding, to clean off my car, and outside at work at 2am. The Frosty Forest Parka was generally warm but I found the sleeves to be the least warm part on extremely cold days. It was nice to see that the jacket could be worn as a shell, a liner, or combined. The pockets were difficult to use because they were attached to the shell and unable to be accessed in a pinch without having to unzip the jacket.

The best part about the jacket were the cuffs. With the thumb holes in the cuffs, it made putting gloves on simpler and kept my wrists warm on breezy and cold days. The hood was slightly too big for my head and left a lot of room for cold air to collect.

If I could change anything with the jacket, I would make it longer and add more pockets to the liner. The sleeves could also have more play to them and not be so constricting as well as the addition of a powder skirt. I learned very quickly that without tucking my shirt in, if I fell or sat down, I got snow down my pants. Not so much fun when it's in the negative degrees on the slopes.

Overall, this is a decent jacket. Not necessarily meant for a snowboarder, but their were some features I would like to see on more jackets.

Snowboard Humor: Craiglist Ads

It's not a new concept. Post unneeded items on Craigslist.org and get some cash in your pocket. Do people really need to sell their old smelly boots though? Even snowboards that no longer exist in production or have rarely been heard of?

Take for instance, does anyone really care to buy a Free Country Coat with Hood? I mean for $35, you could totally have an epic jacket for your local mountains Gaper Day. This thing is U.G.L.Y.!

What about some old Burton boots? At some point, everyone needs a pair of boots in a pinch. Do yourself a favor, don't buy these:

I'm pretty sure anyone with a brain can figure out that going to a local shop would be a better bet at getting a decent pair of used boots. Better technology and a newer product means happy feet.

Boards? Really? Who remembers M3 or MFour? These boards are ancient and won't do anything for your steeze or learning curve. Better off buying a new board, especially when the owners are asking for $300 and $200 for the items, respectively.

As poor as we may all be, it's no excuse to sell or buy bad product. I'd rather be homeless with good gear!

On January 3, 2011 co-founder of ShreddyTimes, Danny Toumarkine was injured in a snowboard accident in Montana that has completely changed his life as well as many others. I think the message in all of this as well as the Kevin Pearce accident last year is very clear. Wear a HELMET! Who cares how you look or how you feel. It's something that could save your life or at the very least keep injuries at a minimum. It's heartbreaking hearing about snowboarders getting hurt when a helmet would have done more good than harm.

It's already the second week of January so this update is a little behind in the times. I didn't want this update to be half-assed and meaningless to those who actually visit Rephreshed regularly. With that being said, here's Rephreshed's 2011 Resolution.

As just another snowboard blog, Rephreshed is taking the time to choose a resolution that is dedicated to you, the reader. From this day forward, I am dedicating myself to updating the blog more regularly, unlike what is happening now. What I need from my readers is a swift kick in the butt if it looks like things are slacking. Life happens and things often get pushed to the wayside but that's no longer going to be an acceptable excuse. This blog is more than just something to do in my free time. It is my passion. I don't want it to be something people pass by due to feeling like it has nothing to offer them.

Today is the start of a new year, a new beginning. Join me for the ride!

A fellow member of Snowboardingforum.com recently broke her neck at Waterville Valley in New Hampshire a few days before she was supposed to leave for an epic season in Japan. Being injured and not able to travel, snowboard, or even drive, Kara Castaldo is sure to have a lot of time on her hands.

Rephreshed and Shred Betties are looking to help cure her boredom and maybe even help her to pay some medical bills by accepting donations of yarn, crochet hooks, beanie patterns books, etc. to send to her. Kara has only recently learned how to crochet and has already made some pretty awesome beanies!

Shred Betties... It's Official!

As many of my close friends and family know, I have a slight addiction to tattoos. I'm not one for showing the world what I have and where I have it, but today is a different story.

I visisted some friends over at Jammin Ink Tattoo and decided it might be a good time to finally get a tattoo I'd been thinking about for a while. We got to talking and my buddy Shane got to work. Some time later, I officially have the Shred Betties logo tattoo'd on my right forearm.

At this point, some may be thinking 'Really? What is this girl thinking!' or 'Awesome! She's totally dedicated!' To tell you the truth, this tattoo couldn't have come at a better time. With everything going on with Shred Betties and what has already happened, I can't help but feel like these are times I'll never be able to replace. Regardless of what happens in the future, the ladies I work with at Shred Betties have almost become a distant family. So this is for them, for myself, and the future.

Don't get me wrong, this isn't something I decided to do over night. As a word of caution and advice, NEVER get a tattoo without thinking about it for a long time. Regretting a tattoo is the worst thing that can happen and not worth the pain it takes to get one!

Pablo Films Presents Euro Gap 3

November 7, 2010, Pablo Films released Euro Gap 3. It's the third year for the film, and definitely the best one to date. It stays true to it's bad boy antics and just presents some all around shred fun. Party scenes, ball busting pranks, and aweful 'Norwegan Karaoke' round out the film and may even make you giggle.

The film features Eero Ettala, Heiki Sorsa, Lauri Heiskari, Jussi Oksanen, Iikka Backstrom, and many more. So what are you waiting for? Head over to the website and check it out.

Euro Gap 3

9191: A Review

After hearing a lot of good things about 9191 (A Veeco Production), I picked it up and hoped it would meet my expectations. Instead, I was left with mixed feelings. It was a well edited video but the ending just kind of... ended. The teaser played it up to be something more than it really was.

When the film first starts off, you see an intense ariel view of Gigi Ruf dropping into a big mountain line. This first scene definitely sets you up for some epic backcountry riding. Gigi Ruf had a crew of big names to round out the film. They include Wille Yli-Louma, Luke Mitrani, Bryan Iguchi, Nicolas Muller, Jake Blauvelt and many more. The soundtrack goes well with the riding that occurs and was specifically recorded for the film. If you're into a mainstream soundtrack, don't expect it from 9191.

9191 is a true documentary about the travels of Gigi Ruf which is evident when seeing a vast array of terrain that is ridden. Once the film starts to suck you in and wanting more, it just sort of ends. Up until the end, I thought it was a well done film and must-see for those that are fans of big mountain riding.

Unfortunately, the bonus features are where the magic really happens. 9191 itself is about 24 minutes long. The bonus features are well over an hour and a half. That's 90 minutes of outakes, behind the scenes travel, and even a full film on Blizzard Bizzare '09.

If you like a film that leaves you hanging but offers up some goodies like two drunk German skiier's falling over themselves or some Segway madness, then pick up this film. If you don't like it, can't say I didn't warn you.

The Northeast Reigns Supreme

Last week, the Great Northeast got hit with some snow. Granted it was only in the higher elevations on Vermont and New York, it still reassures us that winter is just around the corner.

That's right lads and gents, Sunday River is officially the first mountain to open for the 2010/2011 season. They may only have one run open, but it's one run that wasn't available two days ago.

Here's a quick video of a shredder making some turns at Stowe, VT. While you're at it, get the gear out because winter is a'coming!
