It isn't often that a vice presidential candidate's convention speech garners more press than the presidential candidate's himself. But it isn't often that a woman is chosen as a presidential candidate's running mate! I was very impressed with Sarah Palin's speech and although I was hoping McCain would pick Romney as his running mate, Sarah has convinced me that she will make a very fine vice president. Book Review: Why I Am a Reagan Conservative

This is a lovely collection of essays about what it means to be a Republican. Suprisingly, Reagan's name is not mentioned in all the essays. I really enjoyed the book at the beginning, but as I reached the end it started to get quite repetitive. This might be a nice gift for a fellow Reaganite though! I had only heard one Trace Adkins song when I first read this book. Now I listen to him all the time! I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book or not, but the summary sounded great so I gave it a whirl. Trace is a true blue Republican, and he's not the blithering redneck you might expect a country singer to be (no offense to rednecks or country fans, I like both!). I found myself agreeing with Trace every step of the way and reading some great anecdotes about this guy's life in the process. You don't have to like country music to enjoy this book. Book Review: Bush Country by John Podhoretz

What I loved most about this book is that in a world of very biased politics, Podhoretz wrote this book from the least biased perspective possible. He acknowledged all of the reasons America criticizes president Bush and he explains very rationally why he disagrees. He even criticizes Bush himself a few times...for being too liberal. This is a great read for people who are sick of the one-sided view the media gives of the Bush administration and would like to read intelligent literature exploring the many challenges with which this man has been presented as leader. The one downside is, having been written in 2004, it only covers his first term. I'm looking for Bush Country Part 2! What a great book! Sean Hannity is a little further to the right than I am, but I still loved what he had to say about America. He also exposes Bill Clinton for the incompetent president that he was. Hannity is a passionate debater, and it is evident in his strong viewpoints and the amount of research he does to back them up. Book Review: Turnaround by Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney was my choice for president. I voted for him in February and I was crushed when he dropped out. However, I can't say this book was a real winner for me. It's not about politics, if that is what you're hoping for. It is basically a blow by blow of every waking second of Mitt's life as CEO of the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. Don't get me wrong, parts were interesting, but if you are not obsessed with the Olympics this might be a dry read.
