Brighton producer Guy Andrews is set to follow up the stripped down bass music of last year’s Hemlock released ‘Shades/Textures’ twelve inch with a two track’s of heavy techno-infused house music for Hotflush Recordings. ‘The Wait/Hands In Mine’ twelve inch is out on May 28th, and includes a couple of heavyweight dancefloor destroyers that feature some massive sub bass and dark tribal rhythms, and in advance of the release the track ‘Darj’ is being given away as a free download at the artist’s facebook for the ‘like’ function.

After album releases such as ‘They!Live’ from Benjamin Damage & Doc Daneeka and ‘Transistor Rhythm’ by Addison Groove, the latest from Modeselektor’s 50Weapons imprint comes from Berlin producer Carsten Aermes otherwise known as Phon.o. Available from all the usual places on all the usual formats, it features eleven tracks in total, including ‘Leave A Light On’ that has vocals from Michigan based Tunde Olaniran.

You might remember Ean Kraytah or just EAN from his previous incarnation as part of Various Production who released material a few years back on XL Recordings, and more recently his music has come out via Project Mooncircle on the Finest Ego UK compilation, as well as the recent 10th Anniversary box set. The London based producer has a remix featured on the ‘Neon High’ EP by XLII which is out on Civil Music this week, plus there’s the big sounding four-track ‘Darknet’ EP on the way in July through the Cosmic Bridge label run by Om Unit, and as a taster of things to come here’s a track taken from the forthcoming release.

The ‘Tripping On Wisdom’ mixtape from London based vocalist, songwriter and visual artist Py that was previously mentioned on these pages a couple of weeks ago here, has just been put out on Monday 21st via Facebook and is accompanied by this video for the George Fitzgerald produced lead single ‘Lungs’. Having previously worked with Throwing Snow and Lapalux, the singer’s distinctive voice and strong songwriting has this time around been paired with music from the likes of Breton, Greenwood Sharps, Damu and Raffertie.

Following the re-emergence of R&S sub label Apollo after over a decade away, the first two releases in the last couple of months from Manchester based producer Joe Mcbride aka Synkro and Londoner Jack Dixon have seen the imprint firmly re-establish itself as purveyors of refined excursions away from the dance floor. Whether it’s the spacious ambient textures of the ‘Broken Promise’ EP, or the deep, elegant house-techno of the ‘You Won’t Let Me’ EP, they’re both worth further investigation if you’re looking for something after hours or for your headphones, and in honour of the first two releases both artist’s have teamed up to remix each other.

After last week’s ‘Slept On’ mix of overlooked nineties-era hip hop by TAKE aka Swatson Klank, the latest contribution to the BTS Radio guest mix series comes courtesy of Michigan native and Ghostly International beat maker Zach Saginaw otherwise known as Shigeto, who is responsible for this year’s ‘Lineage’ album and the earlier ‘Full Circle’ long player. The mix, that features selections from the likes of Kodomo, Devonwho and Zach Christ, also includes plenty of forthcoming and unreleased music, or in his own words ‘a bunch of new remixes and a whole bunch of homies as well’. No stream as yet, but the download is available here.

Singing Statues is one of the many guises of South Coast producer Ben Thomas, who is probably better known for releases such as the ‘Black Square’ and ‘Plastic World’ albums on Rush Hour as BNJMN, and he’s just put out some music through Astro:Dynamics that is, in his own words ‘pretty far removed from the BNJMN material’. The free four-track ‘No Disguise’ EP, which represents a taster of things to come is available for free download here, and will be followed in the summer by a seven inch single, plus a full length album.

Back at the beginning of last year Earnest Endeavours put out the ‘A Heartbreaking Work of Swagger and G Ness’ mixtape featuring Jams. F Kennedy, who forms part of experimental hip hop duo Widows with producer Bobby Evans, who we’re previously known as Brother Reade in another incarnation. The label is about to drop the duo’s self titled debut EP on June 4th, but before that there’s a two-part release party featuring a previously unseen drum installation performance by Widows at 18 Hewett Street Gallery, followed by an aftershow party featuring a debut live electronic performance with guests including Dabrye, Kutmah, Darkhouse Fam, and Patchwork Pirates. The music made by Bobby Tank has been described as ‘buzzing with nostalgic synths, soulful, blenderized cut-ups, woven leads and atmospherics, thick with heavy bass pressure’ and following last month’s ‘Vector Beach’ single on MofoHifi Records, the London producer brings some more neon sounds to the label with the four-track ‘Afterburn’ EP. Out on May 17th, this slower jam ‘Circles’ was given out by the label a couple of months back as a prelude to the release, while the busier non-EP track entitled ‘LionStar’ has recently been made available as a free download here for the usual email address.

Following the ‘Lucky Shiner’ debut album, London producer Derwin Schlecker better known as Gold Panda returns to Ghostly for the seven inch single release ‘Mountain / Financial District’ of which the artist himself say’s ‘the 808 snares on Mountain are a nod to Noah ’40′ Shebib and some-time Drake collaborators Boi-1da’, while ‘Financial District’ at 125 bpm is, I guess, an accelerated version of that.’ It’s available on limited edition clear vinyl either from The Ghostly Store or Witchita depending on where you are in the world, and comes complete with cover artwork from Andy Gilmore, who provided the artwork for previous Gold Panda releases.

A new video has just emerged for the Modeselektor collaboration with Thom Yorke entitled ‘This’ which is the last single to be taken from last year’s ‘Monkeytown’ album by the German duo. Produced by Brighton based creatives futuredeluxe (who have, among other things, provided some Audio Visualization for Africa Hi-Tech) in association with Brighton film makers Fractured Films, it features a protagonist with more than a passing resemblance to Lisbeth Salander from Stieg Larsson’s original version of ‘The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo’.

We previously mentioned the work of Brian Allen Simon otherwise known as Anenon when he released the ‘Acquiescence’ EP that served as a companion piece to the then forthcoming ‘Inner Hue’ debut long player. The five tracks that make up the EP were recorded, produced and arranged in just under two weeks in Madrid at the Red Bull Music Academy and in Los Angeles to provide ‘a moment in time, frozen’ and while it certainly sounds unhurried, the full length that was recently released on Non Projects has had more time spent on it, thus enabling Simon to go deeper into skewed instrumentation and ambient textures for a carefully crafted release that’s been described variously as ‘an album that moves with sonic intent and abstract narrative’ or if you prefer ‘music that begs to be listened to with a good pair of headphones’.

The recently released ‘Elevate Me’ EP by TAKE aka Sweatson Klank is out now on Project Mooncircle and comes highly recommended if you haven’t picked it up. A mainstay of the Los Angeles electronic and hip hop for over ten years, he’s just delivered the first installment of a mix series entitled ‘Slept On, But Not Forgotten’ for Andrew Meza’s BTS Radio that features an hour long selection of often overlooked classics from mid to late nineties era hip hop from artists such as Sadat X, Show & AG, and Lord Finesse. In his own words, the mix is ‘a glance at some of the music that truly inspired me as a producer and a dj’ and is definitely a keeper.

London based vocalist Delilah has been in the studio with London trio LV, who have previously released on Hyperdub and 2nd Drop, for the forthcoming ‘Breathe’ single which is out on May 14th. The EP will include a live version of the track recorded the BBC, a duet version with fellow London singer Liam Bailey, plus a couple of heavyweight remixes from LV themselves and Drum & Bass producer Sub Zero. Debut album ‘From the Roots Up’ is on the way soon, but for the time being the ’2-4AM’ mixtape is available for free download here, featuring seven originals and a remix from Greco Roman co-founder Joe Goddard.

Brasilia based beat maker Lucas Febraro otherwise known as Pazes graduated from last years Madrid leg of the touring Red Bull Music Academy that will set down in New York for two weeks this September, and his collaboration with Los Angeles producer Anenon, whose own debut album ‘Inner Hue’ is about to be released on Non Projects, featured on the subsequent ‘Various Assets’ release. Pazes himself has recently made the debut ‘Limbo’ EP available for free download at Bandcamp that features six tracks of lovingly crafted post-dilla beats that include the track ‘Rogue States’ with Istanbul artist and fellow Red Bull graduate Biblo.
