It's going to be a very special night for those who make the drive out, since the entire room is going to be transformed into an old movie theater. Also, Hurley will be launching a limited edition line of shirts featuring stills from the movie.

GR2 is hosting a group exhibition of artists' interpretations of the Dragon from the Chinese zodiac - since it is the symbol of 2012. And the year of the Dragon is actually really special because it's considered the luckiest out of all the others, including the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. And the opening reception will actually be a very important event, since most of the work will sell out - so be sure to get there early if you want to snag your favorite piece, which could range in price from only $20 to $200+. I know I'll be going home with something!!!

Rhona Bitner has undergone a photographic expedition to capture America's most loved music sites like Yasgur's Farm [where the original Woodstock happened] and Chess Records' studio where too many classic records were cut to even count - from Buddy Guy to Shel Silverstein. Twenty-eight of her photos will be on display at CSU Long Beach's Museum with an accompanying essay by Lenny Kaye - guitarist for Patti Smith and producer behind the quintessential music head's compilation record Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era, 1965–1968. Rhona Bitner has also been encouraging people to participate in the project by making suggestions for venues and studios she should photograph on her Tumblr site. And if that's not enough for you, Lou Reed's sound installation MM3: Static Noise will be on display too.

I still remember seeing the Costacos Brothers' photographic posters of explosions and athletes on all of my older family friend's walls when I was a kid and thinking about how they were the coolest things ever – even though I've still only ever watched a quarter of an actual sports game in my life. And now when I see the pictures all over again, it brings me back to those times when my imagination was free to soar and photo day at school was like an awesome open casting call for mullets. So in my opinion, For The Kids is set to be one of the most creative and original exhibits to hit a gallery in Los Angeles for quite some time, and I know I'm going to need to watch my wallet, because I might just want one of everything.

Frank Ocean: BBC's Sound of 2012 [Interview]

Frank Ocean has come 2nd in the BBC Sound of 2012. Christopher Francis Ocean is set to finally establish himself as a solo artist of Worldwide acclaim in 2012. The 24 year-old OFWGKTA member moved from Louisianna to Los Angeles following hurricane Katrina to work on his first album, and legally changed his name from Christopher "Lonny" Breaux shortly after.

In L.A. the singer soon hooked up with the Odd Future collective and began work writing for the likes of Brandy, John Legend and most recently Beyonce on I Miss You. Ocean was also called up to work on two tracks from Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch The Throne.

Collaborations aside, it was Ocean's solo work which garnered most praise. Signed to Def Jam in 2009, Ocean delivered his debut mixtape nostalgia,ULTRA earlier this year, winning fans on both side of the Atlantic, including Zane Lowe, who debuted tracks from the release on Radio 1 in November.

As much as I wanted to bag on the American version of ~ The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo ~ I simply couldn't. David Fincher did a wonderful job adapting the dark and twisted story --- even leaving in several key scenes I thought for sure were going to be cut from the US version. The new score composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross keeps you squirming for the entire length of the film. And even though the intro totally rips off the beginning sequence of almost every 007 film, it's still rad to hear Karen O screaming out a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" in full blast surround sound.

If you've seen the original, you'll still be on the edge of your seat!

IMDB Synopsis: Journalist Mikael Blomkvist is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing for forty years by Lisbeth Salander, a young computer hacker.

Under the curation of Kathleen Clark, a new photography exhibiton ~ Manifest Destiny ~ features the works of Randi Berez, Claudio Cambon, Larry S. Clark, Nicholas Alan Cope, Amanda Friedman, Michael Kelley, Lisa Romerein and Todd Weaver. With the artists in attendance, an opening reception will be held on Saturday, January 28 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at The Analog Salon: Samitaur Constructs.

The Analog Salon: Samitaur Constructs is located at 3535 Hayden Avenue in Culver City [California]. On opening night, the tunes will be provided by ethnomusicologist Marlon Fuentes. "We came on foot, on horseback, by train, by ship and eventually by car and airplane. We came west for a multitude of reasons: for adventure, for economic opportunity, to escape the crowds of the East. Our quest over the last 200 years led to the discovery of a great expansive and rugged geography, of open range and potential farmland, of rich forests, wildlife, bountiful rivers and streams, to otherworldly desert scapes and to the vastness of the Pacific Ocean. While the term Manifest Destiny was used in the 19th century to promote transcontinental expansion and provide justification for the war with Mexico, it brought devastation to America's native cultures. This exhibition is built more broadly around the concept of Western movement, of the need to discover what there is to find beyond the next hill.

Photographers by their nature are inquisitive beings, seeking or creating worlds in which to tell or repeat a visual story. The eight artists in this exhibition, Randi Berez, Claudio Cambon, Larry S. Clark, Nicholas Alan Cope, Amanda Friedman, Michael Kelley, Lisa Romerein and Todd Weaver, come from a variety of backgrounds. Some came to the West for reasons not that dissimilar from travelers of the past. Some have lived all their lives in the west and share a deep and abiding connection to this place as much for its open landscape as for its propensity for other forms of discovery, in architecture, in technology.

The international Isle of Man Tourist Trophy is the most dangerous motorcycle race in the world. At this annual racing event, countless riders loose their lives as they brave down a dangerous, rocket-course that requires a minimum of two-year training. In the new documentary ~ TT 3D: Closer To The Edge ~ I had the privilege of watching Isle of Man Tourist Trophy course and its compelling racers including Guy Martin, whom I found entertaining and compelling. And even though, I was unable to comprehend Martin's accent and uttered words, I was fully-vested and didn't care.

The TT 3D: Closer To The Edge is a must-see film; especially, the action sequences which had my eyes glued to every frame from moment-to-moment. It was shot and released as a three-dimensional film, which only lend to the effects of motorcycles popping from the screen as the racers sped down the residential roads at the speed of 200 miles-per-hour ---- as they flipped wheelies and burst into death-defying flames.

Warning: People f***ing die in International Isle of Man TT, so it's obviously not for the faint of heart.

Synposis: The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy is the greatest motorcycle road race in the world, the ultimate challenge for rider and machine. It has always called for a commitment far beyond any other racing event, and many have made the ultimate sacrifice in their quest for victory. A story about freedom of choice, the strength of human spirit and the will to win. It's also an examination of what motivates those rare few, this elite band of brothers who risk everything to win. The vision of top commercials director Richard de Aragues, this promises to be one of the most thrilling films of 2011.

Director Richard De Aragues's Isle of Man Tourist Trophy is out on DVD and Blu-Ray with the narration of Jared Leto and starring Guy Martin, Ian Hutchinson and John McGuinness.

Preview Opening - Mr. Brainwash: Art Show 2011

Artist Mr. Brainwash [MBW] hosted a preview reception of Art Show 2011 for his fans, artlovers and collectors on Thursday, December 22 at 960 N. La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles, California [90038]. The reception was packed - with awaiting fans in lines that stretched around the corner. The Art Show 2011 will officially open on Sunday, December 25 at 2:00pm.

During the Art Show 2011 preview opening, Mr. Brainwash was constructing an installation of vintage-typewriters tower on the second-floor in front of a live-audience, and then proceeded to the first-floor to sign posters, greet the collaborative street-artists and pose for fan photos. The first 300 visitors on Thursday, December 22 were given a ticket for a numbered, hand-finished, thumb-proof, special-edition print by MBW.

Art Show 2011 opens on Sunday, December 25 and will remain on view 'til Thursday, December 29. Mr. Brainwash might extend the exhibition through January 2012.
