I believe the city of New York should be doing whatever it can to accomodate a team who is trying to determine what is making our youth ill. This should get a lot more notice.

How The Insanity Starts

Nobody wants to think, that the leader of the free world is leading us towards socialism. Socialism has such a negative ring to it, it sounds so.....Communist

During the campaign for president, there were ramblings about "re-distribution" of wealth, a term not heard by many or most of us. That's because typically you would never hear even the most liberal of Democrats say that. It simply has to be the thought process of a much further system to the left.

Let's invetigate the roots of socialism, we'll begin with a definition and history:
The source is from "The Library of Economics and Liberty"

That should be an eye opener. Before you run off flailing hands and swearing it's not happening let's take one area since the election, and put it to the test of the definition of socialism:

Socialism—defined as a centrally planned economy in which the government controls all means of production.

General Motors, the largest automotive manufacturing firm on the planet, lands in severe finanical hardship attributed to slumping sales, and stocks diving associated with the economic crash.
Then president Bush, acts to get money into the marketplace where it can be used, and as part of this select large corporations begin asking for money to sustain them through the mire of debt, and devalued stock preices, and even worse, an international banking system that has frozen the transfer of money in the way of short term loans. This cripples a company in respect to capital purchasing and payroll, it's common for large companies to take short term loans to make payroll, or to buy equipment they need rather than drain the cash reserves.

Money is put into the system, but the "Big 3" have to go before a congressional panel to justify asking for money.

GM initially asks for a small amount $15-30 billion to get back on its feet. It's then the government begins to see the window through which it can let its agenda through.

President Obama, calls for the resignation of GM CEO Wagoner, an unprecedented move by the White House on the heels of already surreal comments from the House calling for restructuring of corporate salary structure, initially starting with Wall St. and potentially the ability to force companies into turning over private documents to the government for investigation into "suspected moves against the interest of the country".

Next, Fritz Henderson becomes the acting, interim CEO who intereestingly enough reports directly to the White House.

Now it would appear, after all the smoke and mirrors, all the rhetoric that bankruptcy is in fact the option, which was actually a suggestion by congress when the auto makers had to testify to Congress in the first place....Before they were given a dime.

Okay, so the Obama Nation has decided they can evaluate the credibility of corporate executives, evaluate compensation and re-structure companies based on what they consider fair.

I am not sure at what point America has decided that our government, regardless of how much they might worship the new king, has become the model of efficiency to the extent that they have the time, knowledge or even expertise to run major corporations.

The short answer is they do not now, never had in the past and hopefully won't in the future have the ability to manage corporate America.

Fact: This administrations intrusion into the private sector, is an intrusion to our basic economic structure...Free trade. Corporations should be free to operate as long as the operations are legal, select who runs the company, pay them what they want and last, they should be free to fail. If anything we have seen in our lifetime, it's Americas ability to tear down, and re-invent itself.
