Needle In A Haystack carries over 100 different types of needlework thread and a wide range of fabric for embroidery, cross-stitch and needlepoint. Needle In A Haystack is now in their 3rd location, moving into the new 3,000 square foot space on Clement Avenue in July 2010. The building was originally built in the 1950’s as a pencil factory. The family owned business is still around (from the 20’s) with offices in the building. They own the entire block, including the houses, which were built for employee housing in the 50’s and there was a cafeteria in the building as well.

The building is of post and beam construction with a wonderful open feel to it. The barrel ceiling highlights the old truss system and with it being 24 feet tall at the mid-point gives a great sense of space. The painted walls are seafoam and the carpet is taupe and grey, which is kind of like pebbles on the beach. The store is located in Alameda, an island in the San Francisco Bay, so a beach theme is perfect.

This spring marked the 15 year anniversary at Needle In A Haystack, having opened their doors on March 27, 1998. They plan to have many more years bringing wonderful needlework products to stitchers around the world.

The explosion of fibers over the past few years has been exciting. The Canvasback carries one of the largest selections in the country and they are continually adding to it.

The Canvasback, owned by Sally Volkert, has been serving the needlepoint community for over 38 years with the very finest in design, fibers, service, classes and finishing.

Jackie Frye (a long-time Canvasback customer) completed the tree skirt last Christmas! She worked on it for over a year and spent many hours taking Embellishment classes with Linda Corirossi at the shop.

The Canvasback carries over 175 different designers. Their inventory of over 4,500 hand painted canvases displays their beautiful artwork.

 

 

Simply Needlepoint is a one stop shop for all needlepoint needs located in the historic Hanes Mill Village, one block off Stratford Road in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Needle Nook of La Jolla was established in 1970 and purchased by Fay Bullitt in 2008. Being a needlepointer herself, Fay wanted to create a wonderful shop carrying only the best of everything and appealing to all needlepointers. She leased a second location two doors away and began to create the shops she envisioned. The original store, now called the Thread Gallery, is devoted entirely to threads; with over 125 lines of threads available. The second location, The Canvas Studio, is devoted to the artist with 3000 square feet of painted canvases on display.
