Cornfest in Enterprise Utah | 2018 UpdateSaturday was a gorgeous day to visit Enterprise Utah and attend their annual Cornfest. The weather was about 15 degrees cooler in Enterprise than St George which made it just about perfect for a late summer day. We arrived about 11:30 am and the festivities were in full swing. Lots of fun activities for the kids to do including bounce houses and a rock climbing wall. There were lots of local artisans selling their wares and plenty of food stands to choose from. There was also a car show with plenty of vintage cars to see up close. Owners set up their tents behind their cars to visit with people as they meandered through the display. Of course, no visit to the Cornfest in Enterprise Utah would be complete without a trip to the farmers market there. You have to go home with some delicious, locally grown sweet corn! As you can see, there were literally boxes of fresh corn to pick from and take home to enjoy. We bought several dozen ears to share with neighbors too! If you missed this year's Cornfest in Enterprise Utah be sure to try and make it next year, it's definitely a fun event to attend. It's typically held at the end of August when the corn is ripe and ready to eat! Something buyers should consider when choosing NOT to have a buyers agent represent you during the new construction process in St George UT. The listing agent of new homes in subdivisions have many hats to wear, when representing a builder. The focus must always be directed in favor of the builder. One of the main tasks is to sell extras. There must be a list of “Frequently Requested Extras” with their respective prices for the listing agent to present and promote at the right time. The emphasis is “at the right time.” The right time is “after the purchase and sales has been fully executed.” Get those spending juices flowing, and remember, “the eye buys.” Be prepared “to show” the finished extra projects and/or items. This task cannot always be a successful one, and that’s dependent on the sophistication of the buyer. If the buyer has the common sense and is educated enough to secure the guidance of a well-versed buyer’s agent, the extras will be slim to none! Emphasis here is on “well-versed.” Fortunately for the builder, most buyers searching for a new home do not hire a buyer’s agent. One of the positive results for the builder is the profit margin on those homes compared to those where a buyer’s agent was on the scene and accompanied the buyer through the entire journey!! The listing agent’s job, regardless of the presence of a buyer’s agent, is to sell extras. There is a great profit to be made by many of the popular items and/or amenities to be added. The prices are usually based on what the market will bear. Those numbers may come from an agent who has experience with other builders and their success with selling the extra. Beware, buyer agents!! Not all extras will hold that value in the future. There may be a total loss of value with the addition of particular extras. Those are the money makers for each builder. 20th Annual Peach Days Celebration in Hurricane UtahPeach Days in Hurricane Utah is an annual event over Labor Day weekend. This year celebrates 20 years of community, family and friends coming together to enjoy the fall harvest. Peach Days has become what is said to be the 5th largest event of it's kind in Utah! Peach Days "A Celebration of our Heritage" will be held Thursday, Friday & Saturday, August 30, 31 and September 1, 2018. Directions to the event are pretty easy, just drive up State Street in Hurricane and you can't miss the festivities!I attended the first Peach Days when I moved to St George Utah over 20 years ago, and since then I've only missed a couple. It's a fun event to take the whole family to and has become an annual tradition for mine.There's always plenty of food booths showcasing many different types of cuisine. In years past, some of the local scout or youth groups have also had food booths to raise money for their organizations. Town Square is a favorite among many families with its rock waterfall and twisting streams. Best of all, each splash pad is free for the kids to enjoy. 24th of July in Washington UT 2018 - Days of 47 CelebrationThe "Days of 47 in Dixie" is a celebration honoring the pioneers and their ancestors that established and settled Southern Utah. Marking 100 years of tradition, the event will include communities from Cedar City to Santa Clara. Most of the events will be held in Washington City UT, but activities will be scattered throughout the area. Planners wanted to bring communities and families together from around southern Utah. The idea is to "re-establish and strengthen the inter community ties that our forefathers relied on to survive" This years events will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018. The festivities kick off with a flag raising ceremony at 7:00 a.m., at Veterans Park, 50 East Telegraph, Washington UT 84780. The flag ceremony will be followed by a hearty breakfast beginning at 7:10 a.m. All you can eat breakfast is served hot and healthy for a nominal per person cost. Breakfast is sponsored by the Washington City Lion’s Club. Cost is $5 per person or $20 per family up to six (6) persons.The Nissan Band will once again be performing, a tradition for more than 50 years!The Pioneer Heritage Parade starts at 9:00 a.m. The parade route begins at 300 North 300 East, then south to Telegraph Street down to 300 E.The fun continues at the Veterans Memorial Park & Willard O Nisson parks throughout the day. Old fashioned foot races, wagon rides and live entertainment start at 9:30 am. Game booths may include ring toss, fish pond, football throw, stick pull, fast pitch, golf wiffle ball, basketball free throwing, air soft gun target shooting, and paint ball gun shooting, dunk tank, jumping jack house, ring the bell strong man hammer, face painting, panning for gold, cake walk, rides for the kids, historical horse drawn wagon tours and mountain man village.Food of all kinds will be available, including snow cones, cotton candy, hard-scooped ice cream, specialty sodas, burgers and more! These events wrap up about 2:00 pm.You've got a couple hours to run home and rest up, then it's time for the 24th of July Pioneer Pool Party at Washington City Community Center! The party begins at 6:00 pm. Washington Community Center is located at 200 N 300 East Washington UT. Get front-row seats to Washington City's spectacular fireworks show right from the center's aquatic center pool. There will be vendors, live entertainment, music with DJ Lex, foam machines, bounce house, games and more. The fun runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Washington City Community Center.
