Silent Explosion

2011-03-25T22:46:00.000+00:00

A good ol' rainbow bird with an "e-z break" tether on it's beak.

I haven't been around much, but then again, I haven't been drawing or painting much. I gave it a break for a little while.

Beat this out in class when I wasn't feeling up to taking notes.

Ubuntu & Wine in OpenCanvas 1.

Alien bird skull

2011-01-15T15:29:00.003+00:00

Another DSG topic on ConceptArt.org's Daily Sketch Group.

They've been pleasantly regular these days.

I had loads of fun just working away on this. It's stormy & wet out, so I'm home in-front of the fire painting away. This got a little more time and love than I usually might spend on a DSG thing, but it was lots of fun working around the 'fusing' points of a skull, and coming up with all the different shapes.

I also straight up like looking at skulls of all kinds.

Blizzard Miner lead up

2011-01-13T02:44:00.000+00:00

The 'Blizzard Miner' from the previous post took a few goes to get right.

Here's one of the images before I had considered the robot or the dudes. I just like the colors myself. It's sort of similar, but I thought wasn't blizzardy enough to meet the criteria of the DSG topic.

Blizzard Miner

Another one for the Daily Sketch Group on ConceptArt.org. It's a great place for challenging yourself with different ideas! Not to mention the other people's entries are often pretty damn insane.

I also used this tutorial to help myself out a little.

Also, this one's a little bit of a milestone for myself. Everything but the snow was done on the same (background) layer. I chose to abandon the endeavor for the blizzard effect as it made way more sense to just use the "motion blur" filter for that :)

Mirror's Edge Concept Art

2011-01-05T16:54:00.002+00:00

So I finished the game again, and took the time to check out some of the concept artwork on the disk.

My God is it amazing. So I went ahead and tracked down a Rapidshare link from someone kind enough to upload it all. I found the the link in this ConceptArt.org thread, and the direct download for all that wonderful Mirror's Edge artwork is right here.

Something different: Inspired by Mirrors Edge

2011-01-02T02:56:00.004+00:00

I've been spending far too much time with my Xbox 360, and one of the biggest reasons is Mirror's Edge.

Some of the paintings throughout the game are pretty eye-catching and fun. Here's a forum thread with the lot. The direct download is here.

And here's a painting inspired by some of that wonderful art. Heavily inspired. Done for kicks, as always :)

He Grants Wishes

After a bit of an impromptu hiatus, here we are! Apologies for that, College, Christmas, and video games took priority.

Been Enjoying Mass Effect 2 & Cataclysm. I'm surprised I can stop long enough to go to the bathroom.

I made this for the Daily Sketch Group.

Fire Demon

2010-10-03T21:44:00.001+01:00

Here we go, finally an update.

I was have trouble with the image uploader for the passed little while, it seems to have fixed itself so here we go.

I'm kind of happy with this one, I began doodling it when I was cooking up some waffles and finished it off between classes the following day.

Concept Art: Equus Demon

2010-09-17T12:52:00.005+01:00

This guy's some sort of horse skull demon thingie. I really like mentally stripping the flesh from things and watching them work in my mind's eye, so that's precisely what I did for this guy. often, I find, faces/facial areas don't look too unusual without the flesh so.. Skulls! I fucking love skeletons!

First one is the initial doodle, second one is fleshed out. Hope you guys enjoy! the anatomy is a combination of horse, human, and makey-upy.

Personally, I prefer the first one.

Both done in Photoshop 7.

Concept Art: Doodles

Spent the evening doodling trying to tire myself out so I'd go to bed early to get up early and reluctantly leave this glorious island. The clock says 2AM so it clearly did not work.

Here you go, this was a quick one from a couple of days ago. It was by far my favorite sketch of the day, and is so freakin close to being what I had imagined.
(Photoshop 7, hard brush+erase, pressure sensitivity on, one layer & background.)

Otherwise, I'm just about to finish up on my summer holidays. Spent my time in glorious Canada! Oh my God this country kicks ass. This comic surmises my experience quite well :) Flying out Wednesday!

Got some days in Vancouver city first, they're gonna be awesome too. Wee skytrain! See that big shiny ball in the background? I was there a previous time I was in Van. And it was fucking awesome.

Hitting the town..

2010-08-31T07:42:00.004+01:00

... Like the fist of the north star.

Lock up your daughters, Lamprey face is on the loose. He's like the boogey man, except way freakier.

More to come!

As always, Photoshop 7.

July (Even though it's August)

2010-08-31T07:39:00.003+01:00

So here we go, an image from July. Since, I've been trying to do one of the following each day:
Draw
Paint
Code
Photograph

Testing, testing...

2010-08-31T06:07:00.008+01:00

So, let's get this show back on the road.

I've spent the summer travelling, and this week is my last week of this blissful holiday filled with sweet fuckitol.

Of course, as one travels, one needs cash. My main base of operations was near a town, so I tried to sell some services. I made a bunch of different posters and stuff, but this one is by far my favorite and most successful. I changed the contact number... Partially for amusement.

(Illustrator CS4/Pages).

One two.
