seems to be the time for some changes in the retro movement brand....

this is just the beginning. a lot of things are about to change and happening in

the retro movement brand.

I felt the need, after more than 10 years shaping boards and over 20 years riding waves, to get a

fresh, simple, contemporary look.

this will open the door to a all new possibilities to explore and new designs always with the

same approach and dedication.

In close collaboration with an outstanding designer and blogger of

the popular blog SOOASH -Filipa Alves - are been develop new ideas and new products

that reflects the brand identity and lifestyle and soon, soon will be presented to all

of you.

A all new line of surfboard design is been developed in the shaping bay too with new templates,

new ideas, new look but with the same love and dedication.

......what can I say,.......... it's always about the good old new!

the last time I rode some waves was still warm, long days, and small swells. Lately higher values

have keep me out of the water - that's life when you have a daughter

and mortgage - but still have the last session in my mind.

I took my 9'8'' Nuuhiwa template noserider at beautiful sunset session at AMO with no one on the line up. the waves wasn't like malibu, but there was no one and some ok lefts where coming....

After riding during the summer my last design in noseriders a bit more perfomance, it was............

............................ I cannot find the right words to tell how it was...

the classic logs have something that it can't be explain in words, the feeling

of riding then it's something ........ unique and beautiful, the ride it's not easy like a

more contemporary design but the glide..... it's all about the glide

only a few people do understand what I talking about and they will understand what

I'm trying to tell you on this words...

I last the number of waves and rides I've rode, I even lost the count on how many surfboards

I have tried on this last 25 years gliding our beloved ocean but I remember all the

times I rode a truly classic log like the Nuuhiwa or my black one.

Last night, art history was made when an anonymous buyer paid a record-breaking $4.34 million for Andreas Gursky's photograph of the Rhine River, called Rhein II.

The snapshot, which sold at Christie's impressionist and modern art auction in New York, became the most expensive photograph ever sold at auction.

It beat out Cindy Sherman's Untitled #96, which sold for a whopping $3.89 million at a Christie's sale this May.

Gursky's print, made in 1999, was expected to sell for between $2.5 million and $3.5 million. It depicts a stunning panorama of Germany's most famous river. The sale price includes the buyer's premium.

the new log-a noserider for the girls

this is the latest model that came out of the shaping bay

it's quite similar to the noserider but with a more lighter approach

it's a 9'2'' with a little less than 23'' and a nose close to 19 3/4'' with round rails and

a really smooth roll bottom

a smooth rocker not so flat not so kick at the tail and with a glass job

that ladies can carry to the beach

it's a beautiful board also for a young log rider and I might used as a winter board for my self......

the 'made in polaroid' ('polaroid 50 | 50 | 50') exhibition showcases over fifty works of actors, artists, and other invited participants, composed using the polaroid 'gl10 instant mobile printer'

pixel mosaic of photographs on 3” x 4” ZINK paper, mounted on museum art board

the 'made in polaroid' exhibition features over 60 works created by a mix of artists, designers, photographers, actors,
and other entertainers, with the only requirement be that all pieces are produced using the polaroid 'gl10 instant mobile printer'
(covered by designboom here). participants range from model tyra banks and actors viggo mortensen and james franco
to photographers mark seliger and chase jarvis, to graffiti artists eine and hush. the works shown include individual mounted prints,
collages and mosaics, and three dimensional sculpture composed of photos printed with the 'gl10 printer'.

on september 14th, 2011 all works will be auctioned off in a charity event benefiting free arts NYC,
a non-profit providing arts and mentoring programs to youth.

the making of chase jarvis's 'celebrity #1' collage

artists used the 'gl10 printer' with 3x4" ZINK paper, which offers a choice of full bleed or classic polaroid -style photos.
each participant adopted a unique approach to the exhibition's concept, so to offer an example of how the printers were used
to render the ultimate effects, we offer some background in the creation of photographer chase jarvis's 'celebrity #1' collage,
featured at the beginning of the article.

for the project, jarvis first reduced a model's photograph to 300 pixels, assigning a colour value to each.
he found makeup that closely matched the tone and shade of each pixel, and photographed them at close proximity.
each was printed on the 'gl10' as an individual, full bleed 3x4" photo and then assembled onto museum board,
sized to resemble a single giant classic polaroid photo.
