Every now and then I post on here…   Like most of you I am trying to decide what to get for Mom.

As a mother of a teenage daughter and a one year old son, I am reminded daily of what my mom did for me. Kids are work, a lot of work. We love them of course. They make us laugh, make our hearts melt..make our hearts break when someone breaks theirs. They definitely make us appreciate our own mothers. Who else would have put up with all the crap we pulled years ago?

My Ice Cream Gnome costume is made with a bread bag, cotton balls, rubber bands, paint, and construction paper.  The scoops could have been done better IF I had any sewing skills

My little gnome is the one yard decoration that I really like. He greets everyone that enters the front door. Now and then he falls over but I stop to pick him back up. I think he is the cutest thing standing next to the Spring crocuses, the Summer weeds, the Fall mums, and the Winter snow.

I feel like he needs a real costume this year, not just the shabby black mask. While I work on his costume, please join me by making your gnome a costume. If you do not have a gnome, I am very sorry. You can dress another yard statue. You guys could also dress your children as gnomes and send their pics.

Of course our new addition has been a wonderful distraction. Our little ones grow so fast, it is nice to take a break now and then to watch. As he grows and learns to play on his own a bit more I realize that I’m not being fair to myself. I NEED to create things. great things, crappy things, silly things… The holidays are great inspiration. I promise to take advantage of them.
