You feel a need to get some guidance on a problem or situation, so you go to a psychic.

Using their finely developed psychic abilities, the psychic tunes in to your guides, spirits, angels, or some other deep source of wisdom and provides you with the insight you need to move forward.

Impressed with the psychic’s abilities, you pay them and go on your merry way, happy that you got some much needed advice.

Maybe you even walk away with a sense that there really is something to this psychic stuff.

But what happens if you keep doing this, over and over again, every single day for the rest of your life?
For one thing, the psychic would get really good at their job, because you gave them all those opportunities to practice. And you would end up a little wiser, considerably poorer, but most likely not very psychic at all.

We give way too much of our power away during a standard psychic reading, and it is all too easy for the psychic to fall into the trap of taking that power away from you.

The Psychic World

Think of the psychic realm as this foreign country with its own language, customs, and traditions. The people of this foreign country also happen to know certain things that would benefit you, but unfortunately you don’t speak their language.

Fortunately, there are professional psychics who have learned their language, so you pay a psychic to ask your questions and translate their answers.

Lost In Translation

Now suppose for a moment that we’re talking about a real life country with its own language. If you plan to visit and talk to the people more than once or twice, what would you do? After a few trips you’d probably want to buy a little phrasebook and start to learn some of the language yourself. Maybe even take a course or two.

What you wouldn’t do would be to hire a translator to translate everything for you 24/7. I mean, if you had an important business meeting or serious issue to discuss, of course you’d want a translator to make sure everything was okay. But hiring someone else to speak the language for you is not only costly, it doesn’t give you any chance to practice the language on your own.

What if you wanted to discuss a really private or sensitive issue with a local? If you don’t know the language, you’d either have to trust the translator enough to let them know your secrets, or you’d have to be content with not knowing.

When you hire a psychic to do all the psychic communication on your behalf, you’re taking away your own opportunity to practice your intuition and develop your own psychic abilities.

There’s also the matter of translation issues. A joke that’s funny in Spanish might not be funny at all in English. A Shakespearean play in English isn’t quite the same if you watch it in Chinese. No matter how good the translator, you’ll be missing much of the meaning if you don’t understand the original language yourself.

In the same way, much of what comes through to the psychic, feelings, intuitive knowings, sensations… much of it gets lost when the psychic has to translate it into words so they can communicate it to you.

Yet for most people, psychic readers are their only source for information from the psychic realm.  And because they lack the ability to ‘speak psychic’ on their own, unlucky people may easily fall prey to unscrupulous psychic readers who scam you out of $32,000 dollars.

So should you never get a psychic reading at all? Of course not.

There are many psychics out there who do not abuse their position, who find ways to urge you to listen to your own intuition and strive to empower you rather than take your power away.

But you also have to approach a psychic reading from a more proactive standpoint. You want to be working with the psychic, not paying them to do all the work for you.
