This letter is  related to Apple’s unfair business practice. The letter has been published "as is" basis without verifying facts and autheticity of the information. This is is our story of how we created a breakthrough video camera app for the iPhone only to have our hopes unfairly crushed by Apple.

In October, we started development on iVidCam, a video recording app for the iPhone. We invested a lot of capital and resources because we knew if we got a video camera app working, then it would be an instant hit. By January, we had finished the mp4 video encoding engine, but we needed a way to take multiple pictures per second to make video.

In February, our breakthrough came. Apple featured 25shot, an app that took 25 pictures in 5 seconds. The app used a custom camera view and took 5 screenshots per second. Our team studied the app and integrated the same function into iVidCam. We saw Apple’s featuring 25shot on the front page of the App Store as a signal to developers that this function was highlighted and encouraged by Apple.

In March, we finished development of iVidCam and even added wireless transfer and YouTube upload functions to the app. We were confident that this app would go #1 in the App Store. It had everything users wanted - a functional video camera app, mp4 encoding, wireless transfer, and YouTube upload of the recorded videos. We posted the app to iTunesConnect for Apple approval on March 27. Several days later we were shocked to discover Apple had rejected the app due to what they said was an "unpublished API."

The same day we called the highest management person at Apple we knew, John Geleynse. We met him at the L.A. Tech Talk last year and he appeared to be the main iPhone evangelist. We thought that he could surely help us. On the phone, he was cordial and even agreed with us that talking to the regular reviewers was not going to do anything. He told us to email him an email stating our case with specifics and that he would forward it to Lead of the App Review Team. He assured us this was the way to go.

We emailed John Geleynse the same day. And this was the beginning of almost 2 months of being ignored, neglected and overlooked by Apple. Our emails to the Lead of the App Review Team were not being directly responded to. We asked for dialogue, and they gave us no personal replies but sent us form letters intead. Throughout this process, we were committed to working with Apple and not complaining publicly. We wanted to give every opportunity for Apple to address our concerns. Apple deeply disappointed us by ignoring us for months.

By mid-May we had reached the point of exasperation. Our efforts to dialogue with Apple, their main iPhone evangelist, and the Lead of the App Review Team had led to nothing. We decided to try one more time with Apple, this time writing to the highest management possible, Steve Jobs. Here’s our May 18th letter to Steve Jobs that we asked several high management people at Apple to make sure it got to him:

We ended up getting a reply from Senior VP Phil Schiller, who ironically is going to be giving the keynote speech at June 8, 2009 WWDC where Apple could announce their own video camera app for the iPhone. Phil Schiller’s email and following correspondence ended up to be another big disappointment. Apple never took us seriously and refused to dialogue with us on the issues we brought up.

After two months of being unable to dialogue with Apple, we learned that perhaps we were just too insignificant in Apple’s eyes. Even though we had published hundreds of iPhone apps in the App Store, we were just one developer with a complaint in Apple’s eyes. We decided to draft a petition letter to end the unfair practice of rejecting custom camera view apps by Apple.

And finally, we’ve decided to share our story publicly. Maybe Apple will change if enough people let them know they don’t agree with how they’ve handled this situation. We can no longer do it by ourselves, we need your help.

In closing, this saga has seeded many doubts about the partnership that Apple has with developers like us.

1. Our company has been damaged and devastated.

We’ve spent the majority of our resources on iVidCam, only to see it unjustly rejected and Apple closed to dialogue. It’s frustrating especially since we were big fans of Apple and our company of 6 iphone developers has been committed to developing iPhone apps and working with Apple. We were counting on iVidCam sales. Now our company is struggling to break even and we’re at the unenviable place of deciding whether continuing to develop for the iPhone is sustainable or not.

2. It doesn’t feel good to be disrespected, neglected, and misled as a developer.

It’s been a stressful process because we’ve tried our best to communicate and reach out to Apple, only to be ignored and not treated as a true dialogue partner. If Apple treats developers like this now, what is the future of Apple-and-developers relations? In our case, we feel like Apple misled us, changed the rules arbitrarily, and punished us for trying to be good iPhone developers that work within the system. Ironically, our company has been committed 100% to developing for the non-jailbroken iPhone, only to be punished by Apple. And if Apple comes out with their own video camera app on June 8, 2009 at WWDC, it will be a sad day for us and also thousands of developers. The App Store is not a good system when the people in charge can do whatever they want with no accountability, even at the loss and damage of other parties.

3. What’s a published API?

One of the key issues in our story is what constitutes a "published API"? We’ve stated this over and over to Apple, but we believe that one of the strongest publishing mechanisms they have is the front page of the App Store. Apple appears to meticulously choose which apps to feature. The featured apps encourage users to buy them and developers to develop them. In this case, Apple featured 25shot in February and QuadCam in May, along with approving dozens of custom camera view apps in between. These featured apps appeared to millions of iPhone users on their desktop and also on their iPhones (AppStore). If these apps were using an "unpublished API", then why were they featured multiple times on the front page of the App Store? And why were dozens of these apps approved? If Apple was wrong in featuring these apps, then they misled developers like us to spend tons of capital and resources in development. Regardless, by featuring these apps, Apple clearly implicitly published the use of these APIs to millions of users and developers. And by continuously featuring these apps, Apple strengthened their published position of the custom camera api usage.

I’m not a fan of Apple. I’ve my own reasons to HATE Apple. Forget about Iphone, I don’t even have "must have" gadget Ipod! I don’t use Apple’s free applications like Quicktime or Safari browser…finally, I don’t even visit sites which forces me to install Quicktime video plguin! Trust me, there are millions of people in the world who does not like Apple!

Today my wife spent around 3 hours writing an article on wordpres editor; she didn’t save her post either on blog or externallly (like notepad or MS word) After finishing the article she clickedon "Publish" button. At the same time my webiste host were doing some database upgrade. So the connection to the databse failed…t

The end result?

My wife’s 3 hours work gone!

And she started moaning at me!

Further pain: Today afternoon I was upgrading my wordpress version on one of my other blog… and guess what?

Everything corrupted!

I reinstalled older version of wordpress; Current version and New Beta version

Nothing works…getting blank screen…

Lesson learned.

… “The famous Day Job Killer Chris McNeeny already released dozens of products in various alias names. What’s more… he even sold the same information in different titles!”

Google blueprint is the new one. It looks like Chris is trying to encash the craze of “Blue Print” word (Affiliate blueprint, Niche blueprint etc).  In my opinion it’s an old product he intended to launch earlier, but never did it due to other products launches.

Chris normally promotes his new products with the help of his crazy lists of JV partner. But this time I haven’t received a single mail from other gurus promoting The G blueprint.  I think Chris found this unfinished product while checking his computer and decided to sell it. He quickly setup the sales page and blasted mail to his own list.

Facts…facts…smelling Scam Odor!

• Oooooopsssss… he forgot to add a title for the site (the browser title shows just “index”)
• He forgot to show most recent income proof (his Clickbank earning screenshot is more than a year old!)
• The domain name was registered on April 26 2009….just 2 weeks ago as of writing this. If the content is fresh then why he is showing old screen shot of income proof?
• Either he sold this guide in some other name… or it’s part of his so called monthly blueprint.

Grrr…show me the site link baby…I still wanna buy it! It costs just 67 bucks… be ready for some up-sells, down-sells and ditch-sells!

Appesat is a new appetite suppressing diet pill from Goldshield Limited, an UK based company, who also sell Lipobind fat binders.

Appesat is made from plant extract from Laminaria Digitata, a strain of seaweed harvested commercially on the French Atlantic coast. Appesat contains Bioginate Complex, a patented fibre complex extracted from the seaweed Laminaria digitata

How does Appesat work? – Not very clear!

As per Daily Mail -6th Jan 2009, “Taken with water, the fibrous seaweed extract in Appesat swells to several times its normal size inside the stomach.” This makes users to feel full and to eat less than normal food. (The article published on Daily Mail looks like an advertisement from Appesat)

But Appesat’s official website says something else. Let me directly copy what is written in their website.

“Taken before food, Appesat works by stimulating hunger ’sensors’ in the stomach wall, which then send a signal to the brain informing it that the stomach is full. Because Appesat is active in your stomach before, during and after you eat it significantly increases the number of ’stomach full’ messages your brain receives – allowing you to feel full for much longer.

Appisat sellers do not state clearly how the pills work and aid weight loss. The clinical study report which can be downloaded from their official website talks about a clinical research conducted in 2002 where participants were given CM3 capsules (different pills made from seaweeds) before meals.
This does not state anything about Appesat and its effectiveness.

I think I should have written reviews of various WebHosting services I personally used earlier. But somehow I missed it… shame on me. I personally tried over 30 hosting companies, but I only use aroud 14-15 now.

A Better Alternative:

I’ve been a BIG fan of Hostgator since 2005. They are not as cheap as WHP… but 100% reliable.

This review is going to be as quick as “Quick Income Blueprint” by Paul Walker. This is not a bad product but certainly not a good product to invest on if you have been online for few months! I think this is Internet Marketing 101, pretty basic, might be helpful for newbie marketers.

The problem with this course is Paul doesn’t give very much detail in the modules. All of the PDF reports are quite short so they are easy to read but leave you wanting more!

Quick Income Blue-print Exposed

The entire course contains 7 modules.

Module 1: Leech on Launches:
Promote product launches. He tells us to go to several websites such as jvnotifypro.com, etc. to find out about IM product launches. You can encash BIG product launches by IM Gurus.

Then he says to buy best variation or variations of the product name you can find. Then start blog at blogger and populate your blog w/ several posts reviewing product. Finally he talks about web 2.0 stuff like squidoo, technorati, etc to promote your site. But he left out what to do w/ your domain that you purchased since he went right into creating a blogger blog. I know most people can figure this out but he didn’t give a lot of details.

Module 2:Misspelling Makes Money!
Find keyword misspellings and build a site based on the misspelling. He talks about keywords that are smashed together like flyfishinginmontana. He talks about keywords where people put extra letters such as gooogle. Lastly he talks about just bad spellers which include bad spelling of brand names, bands, etc. So find the misspellings then monetize your site w/ adwords and promote the site.

Module 3: Two Tier Affiliate Program
He talks about two tier affiliate programs and being a broker for those programs. He gives you a four step process for this. Around 2 years back there was product called “Automated Cash Formula” which I reviewed here.

Module 4: The Forum Marketing
Promote affiliate programs through forums. I don’t thik you really need much explanation to this method.

Module 5: Article Marketing
Article marketing. He says to find 30 keywords per affiliate product and to pick five products. Then submit articles to ezinearticles.com – Visit Travis Sago’s Bum Marketing Method for more information about article marketing.

Module 6: The Residual Income Affiliate Programs:
He talks about finding residual income affiliate programs. For example Wealthy Affiliate is one of my highest recommended residual income affiliate program. This affiliate program is only for active members… I earn $1000’s each month WA alone!

Module 7: Hot Trend Cashination!
Use Google hot trends to promote trends. Go to Google.com/trends. Find latest trend and create a blog post around it…then monetize it.

You probably saw many Gurus, including John Reese, Shoemoney, John Chow and Zac Johnson etc. promoting new "Affiliate Theme" by Unique Blog Design. Yes, I bought it and now slightly disappointed. Though it contains some unique features it’s not the BEST for affiliate marketing cause.

My BIGGEST disappointment is it really lacks "total customization" feature.

My question is "what is the purpose of having a blog?" or most importantly "what is the purpose of promoting an affiliate offer through Wordpress powered landing page?"

A blog helps you to publish useful content quickly and easily. And you can optimize your blog for both website visitors and Search engines.

Coming back to UBD’s Affiliate Theme:

In my opinion this theme is good for CPA offers where you show a bunch of payperlead offers. I definitely don’t recommend it for genuine review blogs where you periodically update your blog with articles, short industry news, product reviews and videos etc.

Affiliate Theme’s home page design looks good. But the single/individual page (now you are reading "single.php" on ReviewBoss.com!) looks nasty and totally unprofessional. Currently you can’t even customize the size of your sidebar (sidebar.php). But they promised this feature on future release. And if I add any widgets to my sidebar it shows on the footer. (And I don’t know if that’s how it’s supposed to work)

Alright…I can just keep listing all the bugs

If you want a great theme for affiliate marketing I suggest Flexibility Theme. As the name suggests, this theme is highly flexible and so customizable though the interface is not very user friendly… but… hey… it’s FREE. In fact the idea behind Affiliate theme seems to be Flexibiltytheme2.

If you want to promote CPA offers then use XsitePro to create your landing page. Design-wise and SEO-wise none of the website builder can match XsitePro.

I’m in no way hammering the creator of Aff-Theme (and don’t want use words like scam, rip off sucks etc for obvious SEO benefits!) Creating a theme like this is technically very challenging. I hope that they’ll fix all the bugs and make it really useful to their customers.

Finally my question remains unchanged. Why do you want to use a blog to create your landing page if you are not updating your website regularly? You must be moron (like those Gurus!) to believe that people would buy more stuffs from you if you pitch them an offer on a blog landing page.

A blog can convert more visitors into customers — BUT only IF it builds "trust" in your visitors’ mind.

Blog should look and sound like BLOG only- NOT like a sales broacher right?!

Now after reading this review at least 50% of the people, who decided to buy Aff-Theme earlier, won’t buy it. That’s the power of REAL blog…similarly people don’t buy stuffs from FAKE blogs!

However, there some people who will buy things no matter what you say… reviews, blog entry, direct sales pitch or SPAM email… they simply don’t care…they would buy it because they just want it! Are you one of them?

Chris Carpenter, the original Google Cash boy is releasing GC Detective (Google Cash Detective) tomorrow. It’s going to cost $997 upfront plus $97 monthly or $1997 for one year. I still haven’t decided whether to buy it or not.

Though I can afford GCDetective, I still have to find a valid reason to pay 1000 bucks upfront and 100 bucks monthly. The 100 bucks per month is justifiable considering that the GCD is a HUGE database driven browser based service. Personally I would have liked it at $397 (or maximum $497) upfront and $97 monthly.

My concern is a flood of PPC marketing related products has been already arived in 2009. PPC Classroom, PPC Kahuna, PPC Webspy (review coming soon!), PPC Bully, Google Shadow and PPC Ninja (review shortly) etc. There may be many more which I would not have heard of… And dozens more to follow soon.

Every Guru is claiming that they came up with ultimate solution and selling other Gurus’ products the next day with a bunch of added bonuses. People are forced to buy new products only for bonuses! It looks like Gurus are making real money by selling their marketing products to other marketers. (Not a surprise)

I try various advertising and traffic resources all the time.  Of course I never wasted a single dime buying those worthless “millions hits”. 

Recently I heard about Rent-a-List.com, an opt-in email marketing service provider. They also sell banner, text and sponsored ads on ezines. Well, the service is actually very costly. But every month they run some special promotion wherein you get upto 75% discount.

Should I buy Instant Pay day Formula?

Not necessarily though this course is better than a Guru’s expensive home study course. . If you are earning a decent 4 figure per month then you probably know most of the things this course contains. And I don’t even recommend it for people who just started online marketing.

I do not understand why people do not search online for user feedback, complaints, company reputation before buying any diet pill. If you do this, you will never be a victim of such scams.

The whole website talks about benefits and media coverage of Hoodia, but it does not mention how much hoodia every Nite Trim pill has. Moreover it does not display any required certificate to prove the genuineness of Hoodia used.

Anyway, let me come back to the point. I want to review Chris McNeeny’s latest gadget (?!) Google Shadow (DJKShadow.com)

As I said in the first paragraph it’s a shadow of Google cash method. This product is not created by Chris X, the famous IM criminal! It’s a product created by a person called Tim Houston, but marketed by Chris McNeeny.

Most of the internet marketers are aware that Chris X sells same products in different names; he also sells same gadget (which is slightly modified) in different author names!

Anyway…

Does Google Shadow Works? Is it Scam?

That’s not the point. The point is, can you really afford Google Shadow method now? (I’m not questioning if you can afford monthly subscription fee) My question is, can you really afford spending $1000-2000 just to find a winning Adwords campaign?

CONFUSED?

Let me explain it briefly.

Google Shadow Method- In Action.

• Find 10 good products to promote.
• Create adwords campaign for each of them.
• Bid at least $1-2 for your keywords.
• Directly link to merchant page with your affiliate id.
• Get around 100-200 clicks for each of your campaigns.
• Once you have spent $200 on each campaign you’ll come to know which campaigns are making you money and which is not.
• Delete all suckers and keep the winners.

If you are an unfortunate guy, sometimes all those 10 campaigns might become flop. That’s why the author says that you’ll find 10 winners out of 100.

So next day create another 10 campaigns and spend another $1000!

Does that make sense? Are you ready for this?

Probably NOT!

Of course, this method is doable, but in my opinion highly impracticable.
