How are those New Year's Resolutions coming, readers? I am trucking along with mine pretty well so far. Like many of you, one of my goals for the New Year has been to be more healthy. Over the past 6 months or so I have really been lazy about my eating habits and my exercising. I have recently become a HUGE fan of the bath and body products at EdenFantasys. Yes, EdenFantasys! Right now I am absolutely IN LOVE with the Bella Fiore Whipped Body Creme. I have the Honeysuckle Grapefruit scent (it also comes in an almond coconut variety) and it absolutely to die for. The scent is simply heavenly and lasts and lasts without being overly perfumey or heavy. The texture is thick but, because it is whipped, it is not something that feels too thick going on. I have super dry skin in the winter (hello...I live in Maine for goodness sakes!) so I am always on the hunt for quality moisturizer and this product from EdenFantasys more than fits the bill. This body creme left my skin smooth, nourished and lightly scented. It is by far my new favorite. It is priced at $21.99 but is a BIG tub at 12 ounces. I used this product every day and a month later I still have quite a lot left.

Martin Luther King Day is coming up on Monday. If you have school aged children you no doubt flooded with questions about this great man, what he did, and why they have the day off from school. This year is the first year A&W are in school and they are very interested in what has earned them a day off from their normal routine. I have tried to explain on my own the importance of Dr. King and I am sure I did not do him justice (although I AM delighted that the boys could not even comprehend that people would be treated differently based on color. Mary Kay Carson does what I was trying to do with far more success....explaining to children who this great man was, his significance and his role and history using a way that helped children to understand. The question and answer format is wonderful for school aged children. Not only does the reader get to know Dr. King as a significant person in history but as a man as well (Did he have children? What kind of doctor was he?). I am not ashamed to say I, as an adult, learned quite a lot from this book. The book touches on subjects such as segregation, the right to vote and other significant historical events. The subject is heavy and full of facts but Mary Kay Carson artfully manages to present the topics in a manner that is suitable for children. In our home it has sparked lots of conversations about equality, awareness and loving your neighbor. I highly encourage you to share this book with your children. Twas the day before Christmas and all through the yard the Cat in the Hat and his guests partied hard. When the party was over, and the guests all departed one poor baby reindeer was left broken-hearted! Can the Cat in the Hat, Sally, Nick and the Fish help make come true little Ralph’s Christmas wish? To be with his family, in far-off Freeze-Your-Knees. Will you help see him home? We are huge Cat in the Hat fans here at Reviewed by Mom. We love the books and seeing a favorite literary character come to life on the screen (and done well, I might add!) is wonderful. The story was adorable and captured the interest of my 6 year olds and my 3 year old equally. the baby reindeer is off the charts cute and the quest to bring him home was heartwarming to watch. As with all Cat in the Hat programming, the focus is on friendship, problem solving and teamwork which makes this pick all the better. This DVD is a great addition to your holiday library. I was lucky enough to be sent two lovely wines this month from Daniel Gehrs Chenin Blanc a Merlot and a White. The Merlot was a big award winner and I could see why. The boys loved, loved, loved this DVD. They think SpongeBob is hilarious and just naughty enough to make him very, very cool. I thought the animation was pretty fantastic. It is sort of clay looking (definitely NOT the technical term!) and incredibly vibrant and fun. The kids enjoyed watching SpongeBob save Christmas in this DVD and we have already watched it several times. I am certain this has become a staple in our holiday rotation! I was excited to get this book because Molly Ringwald is one of my favorite actresses. I always worry though, when someone does such a major career change and I wonder how good it will really be. I did not need to worry about this one. Molly Ringwald is a great writer! She sucked me right into the book with the first story, The Harvest Moon. At times I found it hard to connect the stories together and keep the connections straight in my mind but the individual stories on their own were enough to keep me going. Great read!
