Thanks to MyBlogSpark, I recently received a box of chocolate cheerios with a kit that included a chocolate color bowl and some fun chocolate soaps and bath salts.   This cereal is really good, it is the great cheerios taste with a chocolate covering.  We all loved it.  Cheerios is that cereal that is perfect for snack time even for the youngest ones and below I have several great recipes you can use with the cereal.    If you are a chocolate lover the way I am you have to try it.

• Chocolate Cheerios is low in fat
• Has 100 calories per serving
• Contains at least 8 grams of whole grain per serving (at least 48 grams recommended daily)
• Is a good source of calcium and vitamin D.

Chocolate Cheerios® Marshmallow Hearts

Prep Time: 30 Minutes
Start to Finish: 1 Hour 45 Minutes

Crust
1 cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
1 cup Chocolate Cheerios® cereal, crushed
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups miniature marshmallows
Topping
2/3 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 bag (11.5 ounces) milk chocolate chips
4 cups Chocolate Cheerios® cereal
Candy sprinkles, if desired

Heat oven to 350°F. Line bottom and sides of 13×9-inch pan with foil. In large bowl, mix all crust ingredients except marshmallows with electric mixer on low speed until crumbly. Press firmly into bottom of pan.

Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until light golden brown. Remove from oven. Immediately sprinkle with marshmallows. Return to oven; bake an additional 1 to 2 minutes or until marshmallows just begin to puff. Cool while preparing topping.

In large saucepan, place all topping ingredients except cereal and sprinkles. Heat over medium-low heat just until chips are melted and mixture is smooth, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in 4 cups cereal. Immediately spoon warm topping over marshmallows; spread to cover. Sprinkle with candy sprinkles. Cool completely, at least 1 hour.

Using foil to lift, remove mixture from pan; remove foil. With deep 2 1/2-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out 18 hearts. Store loosely covered.

Chocolate Hazelnut Marshmallow Balls

Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Start to Finish: 15 Minutes

1/2 cup hazelnut spread with cocoa
1/4 cup milk chocolate chips
14 large marshmallows
Toothpicks
3 cups Chocolate Cheerios® cereal
Round wooden sticks with one pointed end or craft sticks
(flat wooden sticks with round ends)

In medium microwavable bowl, microwave hazelnut spread and chocolate chips on high 30 seconds; stir until smooth. Place cereal in shallow dish.
Insert toothpick into marshmallow; dip in chocolate mixture. Roll in cereal to coat completely. Place on large plate; remove toothpick. Repeat with remaining marshmallows. If desired, insert round wooden sticks into each for pops.
Refrigerate 30 minutes or until chocolate is set.

Strawberry-Chocolate Cheerios® Parfaits

Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Start to Finish: 15 Minutes

2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
4 containers (6 oz each) Yoplait® Light Fat Free strawberry yogurt
2 cups Chocolate Cheerios® cereal

In 4 parfait glasses or clear drinking glasses, layer half of the strawberries, half of the yogurt and half of the cereal. Repeat layers.

Serve immediately

We received two yoohoo pets and keychain and it is ADORABLE.  We have so many stuffed animals, I wondered if it would be different. It is very unique!   We got the valentines monkey and it is SO soft and cute. If you push its tummy it makes a kissing sound and the heart lights up. It has these fun big eyes and a beautiful pink striped tail.  My daughter LOVES it, she has carried it around all week.   These pets are so unique, you won’t have one like it. 

I love what Aurora World says about the pets and their website, as a homeschooler I love when we get a toy that has an educational aspect to them.  It takes something fun and gives the child a lesson too.

Aurora will introduce many new YooHoo & Friends throughout next year but look for the Beaver, Yellow Tiger, Jaban Rhinoceros and Japanese Macque (five and eight inches) to kick off 2010 introductions. They join the Scarlet Macaw, Barbary Lion, Iberian Lynx, Platypus and a host of other characters.

We recently received a copy of Disney’s CD for the Princess and the Frog.  We are enjoying the music, it has a really jazzy feel to it and I love jazz music .  Our favorite song hands down is Down in New Orleans.   The music is upbeat and will have your kids dancing for sure!   We love music around here and this is a great one to add to your collection and is especially fun for kids.

I have always loved Kathy Peel. She is a great author who teaches women about being family mangers of their homes. If we look at our home like we would if we were in the workplace we could start thinking about areas that need to be managed effectively to keep everything running smoothly but we often think of it just as housecleaning,etc and we don’t treat it like a business and often we struggle with areas of homemaking because of it. So I was so excited when I had the chance to review her new book called, “The Busy Couple’s Guide to Sharing the Work and the Joy”.

This is an excellent book to read with your spouse if you like to read books together. My husband and I have started it and we are really enjoying it. It talks about topics that effect family life on the daily basis. She talks about ways you can help one another, meal ideas, how to keep you family strong in faith and ways to stay connected as a couple even when life throws you curves or you don’t have the most convienient schedules. The husband even adds a mans point of view at the end of each chapter. I LOVE the example of the couple who was about to give up on their marriage because their expectations for meal times were so strained and how her and her husband helped this couple make a few changes that helped the husband reconnect. They now have been married 20 years. One of the most fought over areas in a marriage is not feeling appreciated and helped. This book will help so much in that area. It is just full of great ideas. You have to check it out!
