With the New Year came a bit of house cleaning and reorganization. Part of this change was the elimination of the old GMail account that was linked to this blog and the creation of a new account, Revitjourneyman@gmail.com.

Also was the elimination of a YouTube account that was not used much, and the creation of a new YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/TheRevitJourneyman.

As we start posting new videos to YouTube, feel free to visit and check out some of our favorite music and other Revit Blogs.

Keeping with the move to the cloud that seems to be happening all around us, Autodesk Labs has a new version of Project Galileo (yes the same one I posted on no more then 5 minutes ago becoming Autodesk Infrastructure Modeler). This new version is named Project Galileo Online....from the Autodesk Labs site:

"Project Galileo Online allows users of Autodesk^® Infrastructure Modeler software to collaborate on models with each other. Using Project Galileo Online, users can publish models to the Autodesk cloud, invite others to access, download, and commit changes to shared models. Project Galileo Online takes advantage of Project Bluestreak to give team members an instant messaging interface that is tied into notifications from the service. Project Galileo Online extends the sketching and model aggregation power of Autodesk Infrastructure Modeler to team scenarios in which multiple team members on planning and engineering projects from remote offices can work together to create and review multiple project proposals using the same data."

If like me you had a chance to play with Project Galileo from the Autodesk Labs site, you will be happy to hear that Project Galileo has graduated from the labs. Below is from the Autodesk Labs site:

"Project Galileo was an easy-to-use conceptual design tool for infrastructure projects. Project engineers and planners could quickly and effectively create and communicate design proposals in the context of the natural and built environment. Infrastructure conceptual sketching tools made it quick and easy to explore and evaluate multiple design scenarios in one model. The surrounding context model could be created from a variety of data sources such as GIS, CAD, BIM, or aerial photography to create visually rich proposals. The technology preview has ended. I never noticed this until just this morning. You can actually become a member of the Autodesk SEEK Community. I usually avoid joining a lot of different groups but one advantage that I like is now I will not need to accept the Seek Terms and conditions every time I download a piece of content.

Overview

eTransmit for Revit is a technology preview of an add-in application for Autodesk^® Revit^® Architecture 2012, Autodesk^® Revit^® Structure 2012, and Autodesk^® Revit^® MEP 2012 software.

For best results, installing Revit 2012 Web Update 1 is recommended.

Web Update 1 for Revit Architecture 2012

With eTransmit for Revit, you can:

Copy and detach a Revit model and associated files to a single folder for internet transmission. This removes the typical error messages when you copy central files using the operating system.
Locate dependent files automatically and include them in the transmittal folder, reducing the possibility of error. All dependent files are automatically converted to use relative paths to ensure that the dependent files can be located by the model.
Choose to include related dependent files such as linked Revit models, CAD files, DWF markups, decal images, and external keynote files. You can transmit any Revit (.rvt) model that has been upgraded to Revit Release 2012.
Transmit models that are using file-based worksharing or server-based worksharing. eTransmit for Revit will also work with non-workshared Revit models.

Internal archiving
Sending deliverables to clients
Model exchange between consultants/partners
Model cleanup
Sharing models between disciplines

Creating a New Legend view in Revit 2012

In Revit 2012 we now have yet another way in which we can create a new Legend View.
Simply right click on Legend in the Project Browser, and now you have the option to create a New Legend or a New Keynote Legend.

Definitely a nice little time saver.

A New App for the iPad

Well it was new about 2 weeks ago when I meant to first post this. Autodesk has released an app for Buzzsaw that we can use on our iPads and iPhones. So now we can take our content on Buzzsaw with us anywhere we go!

No Tod I am not going to be using this in London...

Revit 2012 Rotate command enhancements

Not sure if many of you have noticed this, it went unnoticed in a lot of What's New in Revit 2012 list.

Well anyways, the Rotate command now has an added function from the Options Bar that will allow you to select the Center of rotation.

Or you can just leave it as the Default that we are all used to from prior versions of Revit.
