根据 Game Informer 与 IGN 摄自美国 SEGA 举办的 PS3 游戏发表会中用于展示的 PS3 最终版开发机的照片，可看出 PS3 最终版开发机的尺寸与 E3 展中展出的开发机大致相同，但各部分的设计有所变更。&lt;br /&gt;

由照片目测， PS3 最终版开发机接近标准 2U 机柜尺寸（ 430 × 300 × 90mm ），正面配备有 2 组硬盘插槽（ 1 
组系统用， 1 组仿真光盘读取用）， 6 组 USB 连接埠， CF 、 MS 与 SD 
卡卡片阅读机，光驱由先前版本的拖盘式改为吸入式，之外并具备各种功能开关与指示灯号，运转时的噪音较先前版本为低。&lt;br /&gt;

除了开发机硬件之外， IGN 也在 8 月 19 日所释出的影片节目中，介绍了开发中的 0.85 版 PS3 系统操作接口。 PS3 
的系统操作接口与 PSP 的系统操作接口非常类似，都是承袭自 SONY 所研发、以纵横交错的选单所构成的「多媒体工作列（ Xross Media
 Bar ， XMB ）」 ，可提供直觉简单的操作。&lt;br /&gt;

开发中的 0.85 版 XMB 目前只提供与游戏相关的 4 个功能选项，分别为管理玩家账号的「玩家（ Users 
）」，调整主机各类设定的「设定（ Settings ）」，执行游戏的「游戏（ Games ）」，以及管理好友名单的「好友（ Friends 
）」，其余像是影片、音乐、照片播放，以及网络浏览等功能等尚未开放。&lt;br /&gt;
