First Ghost

First time I saw a spirit I was under the age of 5 and lived in Tacoma Washington. We were living in the Salishan housing projects, in a double unit on Roosevelt Avenue. Behind our house ran the railroad tracks, back in the 60s it was open trestles and only weeds between the homes, the tracks and all they attract. The homeless....the Hobos.

There was no initial fear of hobos, it was the fascination with their capability to living outside, in their "camps", that stirred the coals of my curiosity.

Had it not been for Scout Finch, this frightening experience, might not have happened, at least not to us... But it did and it was naive curiosity and child's bravado that led us to wander the brushy weeds behind our homes toward the tracks. I was not alone in this venture, along with me was my younger by one year brother, J.R. and his friend Mikey.

The day it happened my mom had let us make a "camp" on the clothes line with blankets and we were playing. There was a group of us, most native kids, but all of us were from the neighborhood. I had hammer with the feather cap that flew off when banged on a hard surface, a toy my grandfather gave me. We were running around, I stop to bang my hammer on a rock and the cap went flying high toward the bushes. I remember standing there watching it and looking over the field for the colored feathers. All of us were, but only three of us would do the search, the others ran home. More likely to tell on us, but we didn't care.

As we searched the brown weeds, most as tall as us, all three and half to four feet of us, we would declare our booty. "Look what I found !"

We found old tools, clothes and a lot of bottles. As we neared the train trestle the weeds thinned out. It was here we dropped our pile and walked to the tracks. We could see someone's camp but no one was around it. So we went to look around but as we neared the edge of the gully behind the tracks we could smell a stink smell, I ran off screaming "skunk". I stopped halfway in the field, when I saw my brother was stopped and kicking at something in the dirt. Reluctantly I walked back and looked at the ground. What he was kicking at was short reddish brown hair. I poked at it and it was not plastic like any of my dolls head was what I thought and recall, it didn't make a sound, we ran home and we didn't talk about it.

I don't know why actually we didn't say a word to my parents other than fear of an ass whipping or to being sent to Raymond Hall for delinquents and children who didn't listen to their parents. Of which we were at the moment.

Today I can be amused by this, but years I have kept quiet and tormented.

I cannot tell you how many days later I seen the headless man standing outside our house. But he came in the night and stood first at the edge of our yard. My brother would refuse to sleep and eventually my mom moved my brothers bed away from the window. But my bed stayed, too bad for my brother because after that he came into our bedroom and stood at our closet. He was dirty and had holes on his clothes and stood next to my brothers bed. Of course not making a sound. Just standing there night after night, relentlessly. Gradually we grew accustomed and just dealt with his presence.

You have to understand the times,..

Our neighborhood was a cultural mixture of poor people and during this racially tense time there were crimes and rapes occurring in our area. It was a time when it was easier to just keep quiet than complain.

Then one afternoon a couple of policeman were walking the tracks, their car parked at the at the playground we were at right by the tracks. We could hear the radio and of course the older kids were translating to us younger ones that they found a man with no head down in the gully and they couldn't find anything to identify this man. It was only minutes probably, but it felt longer sitting in that park, but soon all our parents came and brought us home, to be inside. Because the police had brought out the dogs.

It wasn't long until the head was found and the police blamed the crimes and the rapes in the area on this headless man.

But the man still came at night.

We moved and sometimes my brother would see the man in our new home, but not all that often.

I often wonder if he did not do any of these crimes?

After all he didn't harm us.

Or were we just lucky?

GUILT Plain and simple.

Once there was this guy who went by the name Tom. He lived a simple life and he had no desire to change and did not see any need to. He woke early every morning, drank coffee, smoked his cigarettes and went to work. After work was the usual schedule for Tom, he would clock out, go grab a sixer at the store by the stop and head home. On a good day he would go meet his friends at the local pub and toss back a few, talk bullshit, trade and try to hit on the girls who walked in. The girls ignore the intoxicated group, all in their mid thirties, but look much older still blaming it on their exes, avoiding the truth that their life is the real reason. With each shot they become more stronger, better looking, smarter and richer, in their own minds. The music drones on, Tom and his buddies drink until happy hour is over. Drunkenly dispersing for home, each in his own direction. Tom with trade goods in hand heads to the inner city to do his dirty deeds.

2004 spring Dream

This dream has had me puzzled....

I'm on a ledge of big building, walking. The ledge's width is broad enough for me to safely face forward. I can smell the grass, trees and flowers surrounding the building I am walking around. It is so beautiful and I enjoy ALL the wonderful nature greeting me. The butterflies and dragonflies are following me. The bees buzz around me, they're happy, and I KNOW this, it is their singing.

I look over the ledge and see the dew on the grass below, for the ledge is about 4 feet from the ground. But I stay on the ledge walking and watching the sunrise. I come upon the tree nearest the building, a little brown snake slithers onto my path on ledge. It is blocking my way, I look to the tree for a branch to jump to, but instead, I see the large white and yellow snake. It is a giant compared to the little snake, but I know it is a she...

It is sitting on the closest branches, the ones I need to escape the other snake.

I look at both snakes and am frightened,

for the first time in my dream..

Then I wake.....

I wanted to make things better, help educate, show that math is easy, reading is fun and writing can be a great escape when needed. I wanted to do so much to show what I seen and learned. But something along the way went askew. Not my dream, not my desire, but something was slowly killing the glow that existed in the people.

I have been going about this all wrong. I wanted to work for the people, and I believed I was at first. I thought working from within was the best way to make changes. Oh how I was wrong! I was working for the TRIBE, not my people, and that was not my dream, my goal and hearts desire.

After much thought, I see

I learned, and I am here now to work from the OUTSIDE, for my people to make sure the RIGHT CHANGES are implemented!

In the past 9 months I have lost 20-25 pounds. Some women would be elated, but not me. I struggle to keep myself up past 125 and so far I have been unsuccessful. I am now at a whopping 105 dressed and with my clothes and my boots on.

What caused this weight loss? Speculation would lead to stress, brought on by my environment. Not good...
Close to eight years ago a doctor told me I had to quit my job if I wanted to live. At the time I worked for our casino, graveyard shift as a slot technician. It was fun despite the intertribal politics and lateral violence. It was the hours, lack of proper sleep and poor eating habits. It was too easy to order meals to go every night, from the different restaurants in Tulalip resort. My kids loved the food, but it wasn't good for them either. I tried to work elsewhere in the casino, but it is territorial, and they are my people! They sent me termination notices, wouldn't allow me qualified medical leave, even though fibromyalgia is an certified disability. The end result was my being "released".. .
So, if this isn't a good place for me and is causing me to waste away, then I have to leave.

This bullying is not healthy, the so called leaders, they talk the talk but they do not walk the talk.

Let me tell you, you learn who your friends are and these people were and are not my friends. those who call themselves my family aren't. I know who my friends are and I love them all.

Most people would like to believe that they seek the truth and that they possess the integrity to make it matter. That is MOST people; however coexisting are those that fear the truth, and what it will bring. They are the people in denial mode, protecting what they know and their way of doing it. They say they represent the truth, but really what they are doing is destroying the truth, so no one will seek it. Who are these people?
I have seen this community take leaps and bounds forward, in the management of our businesses and our investments. But in the past year we have taken ten steps back. Who is afraid now?

Don Cornelius Death February 1, 2012

"Soul Train" creator Don Cornelius has died of a gunshot wound to the head at age 75.

Police found Don Cornelius inside his Sherman Oaks mansion in the 12000 block of Mulholland Drive.

"The death was reported as a suicide," said L.A. coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

The alleged "suicide" took place two years plus days after the policies were signed, leading to suspicion.
Cornelius leqves behind two children , however the ex-wife is the sole beneficiary on his life insurance policies.
Victoria Avila aka Viktoria Chapman aka Viktoria Cornelius, will now be a much wealthier Russian model.

There is a difference between a fib and lie. Yes, the fib is a lie, but it is one that is done to not hurt someone and once told it does not impact anyone else.
(for example: "does this dress make me look fat?")

A Sociopath

A sociopath is typically defined as someone who lies incessantly to get their way with little concern for others. They tend to have little regard or respect for the rights and feelings of others, often charming, charismatic and manipulative.

Compulsive Liar

A compulsive liar is defined as someone who lies out of habit. Lying is their normal and reflexive way of responding to questions. Compulsive lying is usually thought to develop in early childhood, due to being placed in an environment where lying was necessary.

Some common feelings after telling a fib, is usually some remorse, but the compulsive liars are unrepentant for their actions.
Just like any habit (bad or not), once you begin, you become content and continue.

What, Why and How???

Here are some more symptoms of compulsive liars that may not be as straightforward.

Low self-esteem: This is a characteristic of most people with a compulsive lying disorder.
Other negative personality traits: Watch for narcissistic, manipulative behavior and/or inappropriate emotions and impulsive reactions.
Addictions: People with addictions to gambling, alcohol, drugs or other activities also are much more likely to lie compulsively.
Bipolar Disorder: Impulsive behavior is common during this period, and it becomes easier to tell a lie than face reality.
Inability to face reality: Even when confronted a compulsive liar will never admit the truth.

What causes compulsive lying?

Because they behave badly but want to still ‘look good’
To genuinely save someone else’s feelings.
To control other people.
For self-aggrandizement.
Through sheer force of habit - “Lying is as easy as breathing for me!”

STOP the lies!

Step 1: “To thine own self be true” - regardless of what others are doing

You know what is honest, so be honest regardless of a dishonest group-think culture - don’t hide behind the excuse of widespread lying.

Step 2: Remember the truth is often easier

Cast off lying and you’ll find life instantly becomes much less stressful.

Step 3: Know what lying is

Don’t make excuses to yourself. Not telling the truth, when you know what it is, is lying.
