How was it? FABULUOUS…SHOUT OUT TO THE WORLD!
I will be posting about my adventures, with Hilary, my wife, on this trip that include Satay pork cuisine in Singapore & vegemite tussles with Kookaburras in Australia & coconut cookery in Fiji & swimming in Bluff & much, much, much more!

Clearly, there are other issues affecting my life & these I will make some appropriate comments on as I get back or start getting blogging regularly again. This is just my advanced notice of my intent to make a better dent in the www & world at large to come….Best wishes to everyone out there in the online & real world!

As I write, it is Sunday January 160122 and I have had a very pleasant & good Sunday. I did get up very late this morning (& I blamed that on my fitbit wrist watch, as when I woke initially, it indicated it was 0800hrs & then I carried on snoozing & when I next tried it it indicated no time, as it was out of battery charge, so I stayed in bed!). When I finally woke it was late so I put a teapot on brewing & went to the shop for milk & some other shopping.

On my return from shopping, the tea was brewed & ready & with the milk now, I made a lovely cup of tea & also made a slice of toast with strawberry jam (Tiptree). My other half had already had her toast while I was out! Both of us then made a partidge casserole & drove out to Thorpe woods for an afternoon walk. This was our first visit there & it was a very enjoyable walk, where we stopped halfway for coffee from our thermos & a satsuma. On our return home I made us tea & toasted fruit bread slices & the casserole is ready for tonight’s dinner.

Thorpe woods Norfolk Hilary & Pedders Way signpost Sun 150122

This is the second consecutive good weekend walk for us both this month & is definitely a high. Being together in the woods & sharing the experience of nature all round is a good experience!
As for the lows of this month so far, there really is not much to mention thankfully. Better health all round & conquering CoVid & to finish my project (that remains nameless & unmentionable) are a few minor issues, but these will all be fixed in time! Another high to mention from last week was the time I spent looking after our grandson Rex & this, allowing Lizzie & Hilary to do some wedding preperation shopping together.

As ever, there are many odd issues affecting the wider world (PM B Johnson & party lying & apologising, tennis player Novak Jokavic refusing CoVid vaccination, so not being allowed into Australia to play & clearly there is far too much bad stuff still happening regularly, eg crime & wars & poverty & inequality etc. Let us try to help the needs of others & not just our own needs where we can & we will make a difference!).

Have a great week ahead & make the most of this month!

It is Monday 10 January 2022 & Happy New Year to all!
The new year is over a week old now and so time marches on. I wish all my blog readers a good, happy & safe New Year 2022!

Happy New Year 2022

I needed a new calendar for this new year & so, downloded a Word calendar template and made the first month, January 2022, (screenshot above). Editing this from 2021 version was troublesome & printing it was troublesome too! It is just a quick but functioning document, which took me too long this morning! Let’s hope these easy, simple jobs, prove to be so in the year ahead, otherwise I could get frustrated quite quickly!

Yesterday, my wife & I had a fine walk in the Suffolk country side, finished with a treat of fine Suffolk Adnams ale at the local pub (sreenshot below).

We have some family celebrations planned this year to look forward to and “normal” business & work to attend to! Onwards friends!

Well, how is Advent going for you? It has gone fairly well for me, so I cannot complain! Have you paused for thought about Christmas day arriving tomorrow? Listened to any Christmas music? (Elton John & Ed Sheerhan, Merry Christmas or traditional carols or both?!). This morning Hilary & I both did a CoVid19 lateral flow test, which was clear. Now we can see some of our family today & over Christmas a little safer. So, Santa & God are ready to arrive tomorrow and I hope you are ready to greet them & enjoy the gifts they bring. This world is close to chaos BUT rejoice at the miracle of life and death & have a great celebration! You deserve it & we all deserve it! HAPPY CHRISTMAS to you all!

Advent is a time (season) of preparation for Christmas (the day & season celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ).
It forms one part of this my favourite time of year, The ACE Seasons. The ACE Seasons? Advent, Christmas & Epiphany.
I wrote a book about the Christian story of Advent…see The ACE Seasons at Lulu.
This book follows the Church of England daily & weekly bible readings & prayers, but I think most importantly this is a time to consider our personal relationship with both God & mankind (our friends, family & all our worldwide neighbours).

The Ace Seasons_Lulu_(011221)

Today’s figure from our Advent calander was a shepherd looking after a chocolate reindeer & the chocolate was a nice addition to my breakfast cereal. If you look forward to Christmas, then, I wish you a happy ACE seasons! If you do not look forward to Christmas, I wish you all God’s blessings each & every day! Let’s go

Right at the end of August 2021, my PC started crashing, with the infamous BSOD (blue screen of death).
Actually, my first experience of this Windows problem, but internet search shows it to be a common well known Windows OS issue, almost present from the dawn of Windows OS.
The PC crashes regularly with no warning & does a restart, so any work on or offline you may have been doing at the time, is disrupted
and this is very frustrating, annoying & simply bad! See screenshot:

Win10 crash Dell PC BSOD StopCode Watchdog violation_310821

Naturally, I thought, what have I done to cause this? Clicked on a bad link, opened a dodgy document or visited a bad website, installed a bad program or downloaded anything bad, and somehow allowed a virus onto my PC? I was not aware of doing any of those and for some reason (I forget which exactly now) by the time I got around to trying to investigate & attempt to fix it, Windows System Restore was out of time to roll back to an earlier good condition, so that option of a fix was unavailable.

Now, there are some different types of BSOD, and this stopcode was the DPC WatchDog Violation (see screenshot) & as every time this happened, Windows recorded the event & sent the information back to Microsoft, I naively wondered if soon Windows would be sending an update to fix this, but as time passed this clearly was not happening! Well, I google searched and of course found some YouTube videos & the Microsoft support page was it’s normal no use (as effective as a chocolate teapot!). The YouTube videos were all long and vague as they all confirmed there could be any number of reasons this happened in the first place. As well as a virus as I have already stated, device driver & 3rd party software issues were given as causes of this. Next, then it was clear that information was needed to try & identify what was the probable or exact cause of this on my PC. For this, it appears Windows reports on this are stored in a file called MEMORY.dmp in the Windows OS folder on PC. See screenshot:

PC Windows folder with MEMORY.dmp file

How to use this file to find the probable cause? I did not even attempt to open this. I had already looked into the Windows system log files via Windows event viewer, which gave this output:
From System logs

Any ideas? No? Me neither!
Maybe this could help “A fatal error occurred while creating a TLS client credential. The internal error state is 10013.”? So I googled but nothing that helpful found!
Then I found an article recommending a program called “Whocrashed” that examines the MEMORY.dmp file & with nothing to lose, I installed & ran this and I got a report saying, the fault was due to a bluetooth driver.See screenshot

Whocrashed driver report with Window Bluetooth driver properties

So, the memory dump file seems to have pointed the blame at this bluetooth driver: btfilter.sys(BT Filter, Qualcomm)
A check on the Windows Bluetooth device drivers Qualcomm QCA9565 Bluetooth 4.0 stated all drivers up to date!?
Well, what next? On rechecking the Whocrashed report, it can be seen that it states ” It is strongly suggested you check for updates for these drivers on their company websites”.
So I looked to Qualcomm, but that was not clear & then I went to Dell (my PC is a Dell Inspiron) & there found 6 updates recommended for my PC & 2 were marked urgent! One of the updates was a network bluetooth Qualcomm file & was that a coincidence or a necessary file?!

Well, I installed these Dell updates & all latest Windows updates and since the Dell firmware update (first 2 urgent updates affecting the PC BIOS) and PC restart, the BSOD is GONE! Alleluiah!

FIXED! Finally… Well, it has only been a day since I did all this, but so far, no more BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) or PC crashes & restarts. For some reason after all this all my browsers are slow & then normal & then slow to load! (another issue to monitor & fix as necessary…I do not think it is related to this BSOD issue?!)

So, I am happy to have found this PC error was not of my doing! It was not a virus, but all due to a bluetooth file conflict, due to the fact the Dell updates had not been downloaded & installed! Ah, the joys of computing! I hope this helps anyone who has had issues with this BSOD problem, while I realise this is quite specialised problem, maybe there are some ideas here that can help with the investigation to fix other BSOD issues?! Thanks for reading, take care….

Many chess fans know of this soon to happen world chess championship match & I think Carlsen (as current world chess champion) is the favourite to retain his title.

Carlsen vs Nepomniatchi WCC Nov 24-Dec 16 20221

Meanwhile, enjoy your own chess play. Clearly I like chess play & I can recommend chess puzzle training to improve your play & there are many (free) sites online to play & do tactical puzzle training. Today, I discovered a new web app for chess puzzle training & so far I am very impressed by it’s design & features, giving it a good modern appearance & good function with useful features. Here is a screenshot:

Magnus Tactics Frenzy web app (free)-Example puzzle-Retry-Solution-Stats-hidden_Sat 061121

It is named a tactics app & I will use it some more before I actually reveal it’s full name (to be sure I really do like it & use it). However from what description I have given here, it is not hard to find it yourself now with some googling searches, if you feel you must find it for yourself immediately! Happy chess play & puzzling!

We had a fine time (apart from a minor car incident-sadly a small deer (Muntjack?) just raced out of a hedge into the front passenger front head light area & there was no way to avoid it & it was thrown back into the hedge severely injured or dead & we could not stop nearby to confirm, as the road was busy at that exact time). Oh dear, poor deer! The car is pretty smashed & has gone in to the garage for repair. It was a sad end to a good break & anniversary celebration & a really unfortunate freak accident to experience.

Also, somewhat ironically, I had started suffering toothache & swelling from an abscess arising & I have had to make an appointment to visit the dentist for treatment! So, we are back home & now have the new month (November) to look forward to. The evenings are darker earlier now and the temperature is cooler, meaning our tender pot plants now need frost protection.

On bigger issues, it is the start of the COP conference on ECO issues & both Hilary & me hope all the world leaders will take this seriously, as the science shows that without effective action now, the world will continue to degrade at an alarming rate, causing pain & misery to many. It is time to truly acknowledge this & work well together to save mankind & this beautiful planet! Let’s go!
