Learn to be a Real Estate Virtual Assistant!

If you want to learn how to invest in real estate, one of the easiest ways to do it is by working for someone else.

Real estate investors and agents often need someone to help them with the details and paperwork. As more and more offline businesses are downsizing, serving a company as a Virtual Assistant from home is a win/win situation for both you and the company!

The company or investor doesn’t have to pay overhead to have you onsite so having a VA reduces his expenses. That means, it saves him money.

And as long as you can accomplish all your tasks on time, you have the freedom to work your job around your busy life.

Since I think this is just one more way that folks can work successfully from home, I have asked Alan Brymer to teach a course.

Update on Ken Pounders’ Orphanage in Orissa, India

We should be so thankful for our freedom in America. We should also do everything we can to preserve it. It may be that too soon we find ourselves in this same situation.

Don’t say it couldn’t happen here. Uganda was 60% Christian when Idi Amin took over.

This note is from the director of the House of Hope in Orissa, India, sponsored by Ken Pounders’ Priority! Evangelism.

Tarun has brought the children back to House of Hope for a few hours to get food and clothing, but will return back to the mountain for safety later in the morning. There is a large group of Christians also hiding with him. The government has brought in troops and there is a curfew. Troops have been ordered to shoot on sight after curfew.

Tarun sounded exhausted, keep him in your prayers. The village that Tarun was raised in has been totally destroyed. It was a Christian village. Tarun said the violence continues and the children from House of Hope are afraid. Please keep them in your prayers.

(8-29-08) UPDATE:
Randy spoke with Tarun tonight and he said that at the present he is safe. He left Kalinga and went to a friend's home in Berhumpur yesterday because he had received word that the Hindus were going to try to kill him.

He has been in touch with his wife and the House of Hope children are safe at the refugee camp. There was no damage to property last night for which we praise God. Three Christians were murdered yesterday because they would not renounce Christ and return to Hinduism.

He said the pastors/evangelists and the believers they work with are hiding in the jungle until the violence subsides. Please keep Tarun, his family, the orphans, the workers and the believers in your prayers.

What a Great Conference!

Our 8th annual Entrepreneur Days in Atlanta last weekend was an amazing event!

Over three-fourths of the attendees flew from such places as Canada, Chile, California and from all over America.

The speakers were even better than anyone expected and we all had a great time getting to know each other and putting together joint ventures.

12-year-old Joshua Satterfield wowed us during the Saturday night banquet by solving the Rubik’s cube in 22 seconds. He ranks 9th in the world.

During our awards presentations, Susan Mueller of Paris, Texas was named Protégé of the Year and won a laptop computer, along with a crystal trophy.

Runners up were Robin Muff of Mediapolis, Iowa and Alicia Golden-Herrera of Phoenix, Arizona.

Robin Dicks of Marion, Kansas, owner of www.DealingwithLearningDisorders.com, was named SafeGate Site Owner of the Year and received a trophy and a check for $1000.

Marilyn Woodard of Evansville, Indiana, owner of www.CreatingGreatHomes.com, received an engraved silver clock as Outstanding Protégé.

The Top Affiliate and winner of $1,000 was Bob Farewell of Lake Wales, Florida.

Then Drew shared some general insight on life and selling on eBay. Mainly, he kept us in stitches. I don’t know where the boy comes up with some of that stuff.

Anyway, the whole event was awesome.

Times Will Be Changing Soon, Are You Ready?

In case hard times haven’t hit you yet, be thankful. Something is happening in this country and it won’t be long before life as we know it will never be the same again.

As inflation increases, the national debt soars out of control, and our country plummets toward socialism, we’d better get ready to make it through the coming storm.

If you’re not concerned about all this, you’d better wake up.

Turn off the TV. It won’t tell you what’s really happening in the world.

Do whatever it takes to get out of the meaningless daily grind that barely meets your needs.

Realize that we are heading for hard times and those who are prepared will do a lot better than those who aren’t.

We need to become financially free. We need to find out what we are called to do and do it. We need to prepare our children to become leaders in this land, not followers who blindly elect ineffective officials who hardly represent the values of the people.

We need to know Jesus.

During the Depression of ’29, those who were prepared became millionaires. Others who weren’t, jumped out of windows.

We are quickly approaching another time in history when those who are prepared will not only survive but prosper.

But to be prepared, we must do something different. And to be able to do something different, we must think differently.

It is our responsibility to get back to the mindset of our founding fathers who created this great country. We must get back to the mindset of Christ.

God is an entrepreneur. He created this world out of nothing. He set up systems to keep it going. He gave each of us the freedom to operate on our own and choose to follow Him or not.

It’s time we learn to walk in His ways, do what He has for us and hear His voice.

The ways of the world will not work for us much longer. And the sooner we learn to follow Him, the better off our families will be.

I am focused on learning to hear from God. I am dedicated to helping you learn to hear from God.

Who On Earth Are You?

Way too often, I see well meaning people trying to solve life’s problems without even consulting the God who created the entire universe.

Think about this.

God created the whole world.

He laid out the blueprints just like an architect does in the sky. The constellations tell the gospel story. It begins with Virgo, the virgin birth, and ends with Leo, the king of beasts.

The story in each constellation reveals an aspect of the life of Jesus. He was born of a virgin and became king of the world.

The interesting thing about this is the blueprint was laid out when the heavens were created on the fourth day of creation.

Man wasn’t created until two days later.

No matter what you think about the time frame of the earth’s beginning, the stars came before man.

And if you don’t believe this place was created, where on earth did all this complex organization of systems come from?

Anyway, Someone (I personally think it is God) set everything in motion.

Everything has a purpose.

Therefore YOU have a specific purpose.

You didn’t just stumble onto this planet by accident.

You have been gifted to perform your function by God.

You have been educated by the events or lack of events in your life to perform your calling.

The adventure of your life is to discover what that purpose and calling is and then to actively enter into it.

The main reason I think people are unhappy in life no matter how much money they make is because they haven’t found their core purpose in life yet.

And no one usually holds our hands to help us find it.

So when we try to solve our problems, it seems we keep shooting ourselves in the foot with every decision we make.

That’s because we may be on the wrong life path.

If you can find the right path, things seem to fall in place. When you do, it makes you feel wonderful!

Knowing who you are and why you are here is soooo inspiring! It makes you get up early, work hard and fast all day and go to bed tired, yet satisfied that you contributed something meaningful to your world that day.

If you exist in the state of “potential,” you’re basically useless to God. And He doesn’t have many good things to say about people with good intentions who don’t produce.

One problem I see with getting your personal vision is that not many folks are available to help. We’ll guess what?

Use Social Networking to Expand Your Impact on the Web

In 2005, blogs became popular. They were the single most important way of communicating your message to the masses.

A year later, folks were uploading personal videos to a new site called YouTube.com.

2007 saw an explosion in popularity with sites with crazy names such at Twitter, Flickr, deLicio.us. Miro, Facebook, LinkdIn, Digg and Redditt.

Yet not many Internet surfers have learned how to monetize these sites or use them to increase their online presence. Most folks see social sites as places where teenagers who have too much time on their hands hang out and post pictures.

The geeks create sites like these; the kids figure out how to use them. And about a year or so later, business comes along and figures out how to incorporate it all into the real world.

Well, one of my old friends who is way more than a geek has become an expert on applying these Web 2.0 sites to marketing business on the Internet.

God Doesn’t Always Tell You What He’s Up To

Have you ever given your kids, your spouse or your friend an excuse when they ask you why they want you to do a particular thing?

You want them to do something yet you know if you tell them, they’ll argue that their way is better.

So you don’t tell them the WHOLE truth so you can get them to do what they really ought to do.

It’s unfortunate but I think God often has to do the same thing with us.

He leads us to one thing and once we get there, He steers us in a different direction.

If He had told us what we were getting into when we started, most of us would not have gone.

Take Columbus, for example. When God spoke to him about finding the New World, he set out in one direction.

As he got so far, the Holy Spirit spoke to him and said, “Turn 15 degrees.”

So he did.

In fact, that happened several times.

If Columbus hadn’t adjusted his course, he would have completely missed the continent.

But God didn’t tell him that at the beginning of the journey. He also didn’t give him all the facts.

So the next time someone asks you to do something, realize that what they are asking may not be the MAIN thing they want to accomplish.

It’s just one thing.

Life is full of lessons. The sooner you learn not to argue, the faster you’ll get ahead.

How God Escorted Me Through Town

Last Tuesday, I laid my hand on my daytimer and prayed an extra prayer for my day. I had too much to do and had to stop for an appointment in town which takes a huge chunk out of the day when you live so far away.

(As you know, I only go to town once a week.)

I specifically prayed for green lights because my appointment was on the far side of town. That meant I would have to drive through Many Traffic Lights.

It was also one of those days when I wondered if God really loves me.

Ever had a day like that?

Well, as I got near town, there were two tractor-trailers with double-wide loads. They literally took almost both lanes.

And with them were four escort vehicles.

They were rocking along on the open highway and all was fine. But then as we approached town (and construction on the south side), I realized I was BEHIND the entourage and would be stuck going through town at a snail’s pace.

I could possibly be late to my appointment.

So I decided that if the truck went straight, I would turn right and go through town on a parallel street. If it turned onto the other highway, I would go straight.

As it approached the first light, it kept going straight… right through a RED LIGHT.

The next escort vehicle followed it.

Then next was me.

As I got closer, I saw a policeman standing in the intersection with his patrol car blocking the street.

He waved me on… right through the red light!

Then we approached the next light… which was RED.

The convoy kept moving at a steady 35 mph… right through the SECOND RED LIGHT.

There was another policemen waving us through.

I looked at the officer and waited for him to wave me out and give me a ticket or something awful. But he just stood there.

I started crying (okay, don’t harass me about this) and realized that God had specifically answered my prayer from the early morning about the RED LIGHTS!

I could hardly see as we kept rolling right on through the THIRD RED LIGHT.

All this was in a single lane because the road was torn up with construction. There was no way to pass.

We went on to the fourth light and the fifth light WITHOUT EVER STOPPING!

At the fifth light, I turned into the parking lot of the office where my appointment was and left the convoy.

It was a good thing my accountant was busy and late because my face was a mess. I stood in the waiting area and tried to compose myself.

I realized how much God loves His children and wants to bless us in little ways, just as we enjoy blessing our children too.

So the next time you have a traffic situation to dread, ask God to bless it.

He may just send you a personal escort!

A Good Online Community Can Change Your Life

Some of my Internet marketing friends occasionally ask me how I got started promoting conferences.

Some have heard the story of our Yahoo! Group of 300 and how 11 folks from it went to a conference in Nashville with me about five years ago.

But that’s not where it started. It started with the Yahoo! Group.

Help for Kinesthetic Learners

The most important thing you can know about your child, (and we ARE supposed to know them) is how they learn.

Some are naturally visual.

Some learn best by listening auditorially.

And some are kinesthetic, which means they get way more out of life experiences than out of books or audio CDs.

If you have visual kids, surround them with books, art, beauty of all kinds and give them a great real life.

If your kids are auditory, make sure each one has his or her own CD player and a library of teaching tapes and quality music.

And if you are blessed to have a very active kinesthetic learner, engage them in lots of meaningful activities and real life events.

That’s what I am still doing with Drew, even though the boy is married, has a baby and is almost 27 years old!

A few weeks ago, we went to eBay Live in Chicago together. While we were there, we ran into an old friend of ours, Jim Cockrum, who has become quite a respected expert on eBay.

We went to dinner with him and his assistant and Jimmy Z and his girlfriend.

We laughed for hours at each others’ crazy stories and Jim was fascinated by the way Drew sells houses in just 7 days on eBay.

This past week, I got a note from Jim.

“Rhea, I thought I'd seen it all when it comes to selling creatively on eBay...after all I've got a best selling book that is all about just that, but when I talked to Drew about what he was doing on eBay with old ugly houses, a light bulb went off. I thought "that really could work!"”So, I tried it out myself. I spent about one hour reviewing the excellent tools and examples that Drew had put together, I took a few pics of one of the old rental houses that I've been dying to get rid of for years, and I put it all on eBay.The end result is this:Thanks to Drew, A PAIN IN THE BUTT UGLY house of mine that has sat empty for about 8 months SUCKING THE LIFE OUT OF ME is now going to be making me $200 per month positive cash flow with a VERY HAPPY buyer that doesn't have to worry about dealing with a bank and I'm locked in for a minimum profit of $10,000 if he ever goes on to buy the house.

“If he doesn't buy it (or even if he just trashes it) I just do it all again with a different buyer/tenant. Did I mention that I now have $3,500 in my pocket that goes toward the eventual purchase of the home (although we all know that 80% of the time these buyers don't go on to buy so odds are I'll just do it over and over again).”Some stats on my very first eBay "down payment" auction:1,500 visitors10 biddersclosing bid of $610 but the buyer asked to "buy down" the interest rate for $3500 and I happily agreed to his terms!”As soon as I sell the other two ugly houses this way I'm going to buy more. I finally know where to find excited handyman buyers for ugly homes!”

Now this if from a guy who literally wrote the book on eBay YEARS ago!

Because all six of us understand the value of good networking and spent some quality time together at a pretty mediocre event, Jim has gotten rid of a huge burden and Drew feels pretty good about making another real estate investor happy.

That’s what happens when you really learn how to network at live events.

So if you have a kinesthetic learner, bring that kid to the only professional home business event for kids that I know of – ours.

Here’s Help if You REALLY Want to Become Independent!

Listen, my son, and you will hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere…

What a great poem to memorialize about one of the first acts of courage that began the 6-year war that led to America gaining her independence as a nation.

Becoming a free nation didn’t happen overnight; it took planning, organization, financing, blood, sweat, tears and time.

Gaining independence for our country was a big deal. For you to gain financial independence may also be a big deal.

Most of us haven’t been trained to be financially independent. Instead, we’ve been educated to be financially dependent on an employer.

To learn how to live financially free, we have to renew our minds and get a different perspective that most of us don’t have. It takes vision, specialized education, planning, organization, financing and a lot of work, but most of all, it takes time.

So many people write to me and say they want to be financially free. They think it can happen overnight. They hear the stories of the Internet millionaires and they realize that’s what they want.

But they don’t know that those overnight success stories often took years to write. All they see is the results.

So if financial free is something you desire, realize the cost, then create a plan to make it happen. Pray. Ask God what you are here to accomplish. Don’t just try to figure out how to “make money.”

Focus on serving God in whatever vocation he has placed you.
Seek Him first and figure out what you are supposed to do to monetize that job.

Too often, we get that backwards and end up handcuffed to a job that meets our basic needs (and maybe more) but steals our time, our energy and even sucks the life out of us. It also prevents us from doing what we should be doing, what we are called to do, what God wants us to do.

If you desire financial freedom, don’t seek money, seek God. Seek the specific vision for your life that is the only thing that will bring true freedom to your life – financial, physical, and spiritual.

This Independence Day, make your own ride through the countryside and declare to yourself and your family that you are committing yourself to get God’s vision for your life.

Get the specific financial education you need to do something different with your life… something that will more than meet your needs, something that God has called you and only you to do.

This Independence Day, declare your independence!

Go for it!

An Inspiration from Chicago

You know it is crucial to success to set goals, right?

Well on my list of goals for 2008 was “See Chicago perform live with at least one of my children.”

The band, not the city.

We don’t listen to a lot of rock music but personally, I believe the genius in the music of Chicago is evidence of the creativity of God.

Well guess what?

Last weekend when I was in Chicago at eBay Live with my son Drew, who sells houses and now backhoes, on eBay, the band Chicago just happened to be in concert with the Doobie Brothers less than a mile from the conference center!

So Drew and I went with our friends!

It was marvelous, to say the least!

God met my goal even BEFORE I asked as Matthew 6:8 says He will, “Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.” All I did was put it on my list of goals for this year.

It wasn’t even something I needed; it was just something sentimental that I wanted.

Just like the ball I bought for my 12 year old son last week that continues to make him happy, sometimes God gives us non-essentials just to bless us.

It is important to set goals because when vision for your life finally rises out of your common life, you (and God) have something to work with. God (and you) have something measurable to aim at so you and others who are watching can experience His reality.

Until you get that vision, indecision and the lack of direction can paralyze you.

When I was in high school, I played trumpet in a Stage Band that played ‘50s and ‘60s classics and ‘70s songs from groups like Chicago … and I came to love them.

Years later while I was in college at Auburn, I won two free tickets to see Chicago and I discovered, their music was even better live.

Through the years, I’ve been amazed at how many hits the group has created, even though some of the members have changed.

Since 1967, they have created 30 albums, 12 of which were Top Ten albums. Five were #1.

They have sold more than 120 million records and had 20 Top Ten singles.

And as of June 2008, they are still traveling across the country and performing on live stages everywhere with the Doobie Brothers.

Now I’m not advocating that anyone listen to rock music. I just want to know, “How on earth have they done that?”

Well, I think I’ve figured out their secret.

1. They wrote one 3-5 minute song, recorded it, marketed it and played it over and over again to live crowds.
2. They wrote one 3-5 minute song, recorded it, marketed it and played it over and over again to live crowds.
3. They wrote one 3-5 minute song… until they had 30 albums.

Now, over 40 years later, all they have to do is show up and do what they love: perform.

Is that amazing or what?

So here’s my word of encouragement from this little story from the world we live in for you.

If you have a message to give others or a talent to share, just write, record, market and give it one time.

Set deadlines for yourself. Weed your life of useless activities that steal your time. Prune your life of good things that keep you from creating the great masterpiece that only you can create.

Focus until you’re finished.

Don’t live a mundane seemingly purposeless life like others around you often do. Set up a system, then do it again.

Before you know it, you will be well on your way to accomplishing your goals. And that’s just one way of creating financial freedom.

You may even change the world… or just the world of music.

Chicago has survived longer than many other bands for several reasons.

1. They are unique and their sound is different because of their brass section.

2. Although they have had many wonderful lead singers, they didn’t feature just one.

3. They have created many Top 40 hits that produce passive income.

4. They are still doing what they love.

So if you want to write that masterpiece that can change the world, do what Chicago has done.

And remember what God thinks of you, “You’re my inspiration.”

He created you, He inspires you so do something spectacular with Him and through Him and His glory will live through your masterpiece forever.

How God Answered 4 Prayers in 1 Afternoon

Last Monday, I had to fly to Las Vegas for one of Armand Morin’s mastermind meetings. (You can’t imagine what this like until you experience it.)

I’ve had an unusually high volume of interactions with Murphy lately which means my team and I must be doing something right!

But just as I was trying to leave, friends and family members were calling to chat, secretaries were making unbelievable mistakes that had to be corrected before I left and I was severely behind schedule.

So as I jumped into my car and headed for the airport in Nashville two hours away, I prayed… as I usually do.

I prayed for protection on the road from crazy drivers. (I really pray that; ask my kids.)

I prayed for Wendell to keep all the kids busy and safe (as in, at least know where they all are) while I’m gone.

And I prayed for 4 specific things:

1. A parking space near Shuttle Stop #1.

2. The shuttle to come as soon as I got there.

3. No line at the Sky Cap when I checked in.

4. The plane to be late.

As I was sitting at a dead stop way too long at traffic light after traffic light, I remembered to pray for the 5 o’clock traffic in Nashville that usually starts about 3.

I really wanted to stop to get my nails done but the road construction was so frustrating that I was afraid I would miss my flight. So I waved as I drove past my favorite nail salon.

The whole time, I never ever got upset or frantic.

(My kids won’t believe that because I ALWAYS act like there’s a fire somewhere.)

Hey, life is short so cram in as much fun and excitement as possible, right?

So guess how this story ends?

I got to Nashville about 30 minutes behind schedule in just enough time for me to catch the plane… but not my luggage.

I flew into the economy parking lot and headed straight for Shuttle Stop #1, even though the entire parking lot was packed.

Guess what?

Right across from the Shelter #1 was ONE empty parking space!
It was literally about 8 steps from the shelter.

Answered Prayer #1.

So I whipped into the parking space, grabbed my purse, got my two bags out of the trunk and rolled them over to the shelter.

I locked the car and started shuffling through my purse to find my license and ticket when the shuttle pulled up!

I hadn’t even heard it coming, but there it was!

Answered Prayer #2.

So I took the shuttle to the Southwest Skycap and guess what?

You guessed it!

Although there were people checking all along the desk, I walked up and one of the young men looked at me and waved me to him.

Answered Prayer #3.

I quickly asked, “Will my luggage make this flight?”

And he replied, “Well, not only will your luggage make it but you will too. You have an hour and half delay.”

Answered Prayer #4.

Now normally I wouldn’t rejoice over my plane being that late because I usually schedule my flights a bit close.

But this time, I was thrilled and told him, “Well, I guess that means I have time to get a manicure!”

And I headed off to make Miss Delores at the nail salon my new Best Friend.

So technically, that wasn’t an answered prayer request because I never asked, but you know what? God knows the desires of our hearts and he often fulfills them even before we ask!

In this case, He did.

I even had time to get a pedicure!

God just got Bonus Points in my book!

(Hey, it’s okay for busy moms to reward themselves every once in a while. You’ve got to find ways to relieve that stress that works for you or else the constant stress of Life with Many Kids may affect you... and others.)

How do you think I learned that?

(Don’t let anyone put you under condemnation about treating yourself to something special occasionally. They are clueless about your life if they do.)

Anyway, when we finally boarded the plane, there were a bunch of unhappy flyers who were ready to be where they were going.

I failed to mention to them that I had asked for this extension!

All this is to encourage you that if you have a need in your life, don’t carry the burden by yourself. Give it to God.

He cares for you. He wants to bless you. He wants to increase you.
And He wants to use you.

You are here for a reason and it is to glorify Him in all you do, whatever that is.

My Dedication to Helping Fathers

As we honor fathers across this land on Father’s Day this weekend, I have to admit that I have been feeling truly sorry for them lately.

We live in the richest country in the world.

We are more educated than any other people on earth have ever been.

We dominate the most cutting-edge invention of all time – the Internet, yet way too many highly educated fathers can’t pay their monthly bills.

And although this country is heading for bankruptcy, just like in the days of the Depression, those who were prepared for hard times, thrived. Those who weren’t, jumped out of windows.

With the cost of gas rising daily and political change about to overtake the White House, who can guess what is about to happen in our economy?

How can this be?

Well, I think there are several factors to attribute this to but here’s one of the main ones.

Our government educational system doesn’t tailor education to fulfill the calling of the individual. That’s fine because that’s not really its purpose.

Parents, however, are supposed to be responsible for helping their young people find their direction, especially the father.

But somewhere in our recent history, we’ve delegated that duty to the state so now the state prepares men and women to work for it.

That IS the purpose of government education and it does a decent job.

But… what if you want to actually find fulfillment in what you do and desire to live a quality life with 5, 10 or 15 children, many grandchildren and your extended family members (all which can be expensive), while also blessing others?

Do the math on THAT bill.

Then imagine the stress.

(Maybe you don’t have to imagine it. Maybe you already live with it.)

I am really concerned about the weight that so many fathers bear on their shoulders these days.

And I am dedicated to helping as much as I can. My oldest son and I worked together to bring our dad home and I want to help you do the same.

Imagine how you could help those around you if you only knew exactly what you are supposed to be doing on this earth so you could tap into the power of God ASAP and channel the abundant blessings He has waiting for you to those who truly need them.

Just imagine.

Then imagine the cost of starting all over again with a new career AFTER you’ve found out that the one you fell into won’t provide for your basic needs… or give you the fulfillment that doing a good job with what you love brings.

The question you have to ask yourself then is this, “What can I do to change the situation?”

If you seriously need to do something different, there are three things you must do.

1. Get vision for YOUR life.

You won’t get that from watching CNN or hiding in online video games.

2. Get specific education.

You won’t get education on how to make money from government schools. That is not their purpose.

Yes, you can go back to college and spend 4 more years learning another trade or getting another degree, but you won’t be much closer to your goal than you are now. They don’t teach you the principles of success in college. They prepare you to have a job.

How do you think I know that?

3. You’ve got to take action as soon as possible to solve the problem.

Waiting won’t make it better. If you don’t do something now, you won’t be any better off a year from now.

Proverbs 4:7 says, “The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; and with all your acquiring, get understanding.”

The problem is, where are the men and women who understand how to make money who should be directing fathers to help their teens make wise decisions?

Why aren’t the fathers of this land qualified to help their children directly?

Could it be possible that they lack vision, education and positive action? Hmm….

So we find ourselves knee-deep in debt and struggling frantically just to keep up while the flood waters of the economy are rising faster than the water in the streets of Cedar Rapids.

We’d better do something quick.

So here is my solution to getting the vision you need to get started.

I have invited a handful of millionaires who understand how to make money in a variety of ways to teach you about what they do at our annual home business conference in Atlanta.

Income Is a Spam Word

You may have noticed that I often spell “income” as “in come.” That’s because it’s one of the many, many G Rated spam words.

So in order to get it through the spam filters when mass emailing, I separate the syllables.

Usually if you do that or try to disguise it with all kinds of symbols such as * or ^ or . or anything, the filters will mark it as “disguised spam word.”

So pardon my seemingly inaccurate spelling but mailing to a bunch of folks at one time has its rules.

That’s why I take courses from folks like Stu McLaren because on the Internet, the rules are always changing!

When Your Kids Ask You to Go, Go!

Drew has been selling backhoes on eBay lately and making a great profit on each one.

That’s besides the houses and junk he’s still listing.

So this year he decided to go to eBay Live in Chicago in a few weeks to learn more.

The other day, he casually asked me if I wanted to go with him since he is going by himself.

Now, to go to a big city like Chicago is not this country girl’s favorite thing to do.

To book an expensive hotel room there is not my idea of a good investment.

And to book a flight this close to the departure date doesn’t seem very economical at all.

But when your 26 year old son asks you to join him at a professional event where he hopes to learn more about his interests and meet experts who can introduce him to others and to concepts that will take his business forward, should I say “no”?

I weighed the costs.

I weighed the eternal value of spending a weekend with my married son at yet another conference.

(I’ve escorted him to many since he was 18.)

And I determined (through God’s direction, of course) that even though this oldest son has already left home and has a family of his own, he is one of my top priorities in life.

So this year, I will be going to eBay Live with Drew.

And we will be hanging out there with our new sponsors from Powerteam International and Franklin Covey.

We also have plans to meet with one of the speakers from our upcoming conference EntrepreneurDays.com, Kerim Emre, who is one of the featured speakers there.

Creating Homes That Minister

I just took my daughter Sannah Beth, 17, with me on a business trip to Chicago. We stayed in a very large house on an estate built to serve others as a small business conference complex.

What an experience!

The flights there and back were fun and relatively uneventful. But the time we spent with others from all over the country discussing business ideas and learning how to use state-of-the-art technology developed by two very young men was worth making the sacrifice to be there.

The house was very large, modern and open. In the center of the house, there once was an in-ground swimming pool. The owner had remodeled the house to fill it with a small auditorium full of 8-foot tables, chairs, printers, office supplies of all kinds and white boards on the wall for braining storming and presentations.

There were several areas throughout the house where small groups of people could gather to discuss their ideas and sketch their business plans.

Our host kept coffee brewing, the refrigerator stocked full of soft drinks and bottled water and all the guests felt very welcome to get something to drink from it any time they wanted.

It was like staying at a nice hotel with all the comforts of home plus all the business needs you could possibly need right at your fingertips.

When it was time to go to the airport, his assistant drove several of us in an extra late model Cadillac.

To me, that is a picture of business success.

That is one way we can use our homes to minister life in a business realm to others.

Not many people teach how to have a successful business these days. I personally think it’s because not many of us have experienced true financial business success.

People write to me every day asking me what they can do to make money at home. Well, there are several things you can do but the most important thing to do is whatever you have been called by God to do.

I love to help people explore their options.

But one thing I truly believe is this: once we get the vision that we CAN work from home, and once we get the vision for WHAT we want to do and once we get the education to DO what we have been called to do and once we actually TAKE ACTION to set up systems to get the work done, then we will be back on the “ancient path.”

All of that can be done from home.

And home should be a center of ministry for social events, educational events, business events, and activities of all kinds.

Home, nothing else, should be where you minister to others.

This weekend, invite someone special over to your house to celebrate Memorial Day. Make it a special day of ministry for your family and others.

The more successful you are in business, the bigger and even more wonderful your place of ministry can be.

I challenge you to make YOUR home, no matter how humble, a place of ministry for others. It's not the house that matters, it's the heart.

Creating Financial Wellness

It’s marvelous that God has given moms and dads
throughout America the vision to educate their children
at home. It takes a huge sacrifice to make it work either
part-time or full-time.

But the more I interact with homeschoolers, the more
I see how there is so much more we can do than what
most of us are doing.

We attend workshops on selecting the right grammar
program and we study books on how to teach multiple
levels of children simultaneously. But we tend to focus
so much on the details and the subject matter that we
don’t see the bigger picture.

Most of us simply replicate what we learned in traditional
school which was designed to move a large mass of students
through a particular amount of information. Basically,
traditional schools train good employees.

That’s fine. Our country needs good employees. It can’t
survive without them.

But what if God hasn’t called your child to be an “employee”?

What if God has something special for your child to do?

What if your child is gifted and with a little freedom and
mentoring would be the next Thomas Edison or Mozart
or Albert Einstein?

If you’re child regularly complains that what you’re doing
isn’t relevant to life, don’t accuse him of being rebellious.
It may be that he or she beginning to experience vision
for his or her own life.

That’s a good thing. That’s what we want. We don’t want
to squash that.

Maybe God put something in that child’s life to do and
the child senses that assignment in his heart and needs
to pursue it.

Maybe the education you “think” he needs isn’t sufficient.

Maybe he needs more.

How do you know if it is?

Good question. Sometimes, you don’t.

I could talk about this for hours. And if you want to join
me on the call Tuesday, I’ll answer your questions.

But for now, let me just give you one thought to ponder.

Who taught you how to buy a house?

Answer: Nobody.

And if you paid full retail, you did it wrong.

The largest purchase most folks make in their life is
usually made with absolutely no training. The only
advice most of us got was from someone who was
either trying to sell or finance the house, right?

How do we know we can trust that advice?

We don’t.

When it comes to real estate, you don’t know what
you don’t know, yet no one ever takes Basic Real Estate
101.

Well, I challenge you to add that to your high school
curriculum.

Problem is: Education is not available. How can you
know who to trust?

Well, that is exactly why I have created a weekend real
estate investing event with 10 experts who know what
they’re doing and how to make it easier by using the
Internet.

You won’t find folks like these just anywhere. They are
extremely rare because of what they know.

If you think you can’t afford to attend an educational
event like this, you are probably not as financially healthy
as you think you are.

Real Estate investors are.

never be financially healthy no matter how much you
earn in a year.

Finding Private Money to Invest

Every time I talk to people about real estate investing, someone always says, “I don’t have any money to invest.”

(Then they add, “I don’t even have enough money to pay the bills!”)

Guess what? Real estate investors don’t use their own money. They know how to find money to use or else they negotiate “nothing down” deals.

It doesn’t take money to buy property, it takes education. But most folks won’t invest time, effort and yes, money to get the education they need to be able to buy a house with no money.

I think that’s crazy.

Real estate investors invest tons of money in education because they know that every dollar they invest in education will make them thousands more if they apply what they learn.

Most people haven’t been educated in investing of any type. It’s almost a foreign concept to the average American. Yet to have the mind of Christ, we are supposed to know how to invest as mentioned in the parable of the talents.

So how can you learn how to find private money to invest?

Simple. Listen to my call this Tuesday, April 1 with real estate investment teacher Lance Edwards. He will tell you how.

How can you learn how to develop the mindset of an investor?

Get Vision

Remember Balaam from the Old Testament who was riding on his donkey?

The angel of the Lord stood in his way as “an adversary against him” while his donkey kept trying to go around him.

Balaam struck his donkey three times to make her obey. Then she spoke to him and asked why he had hit her when she had always been such a good servant.

He replied back and they carried on a brief conversation, which I find incredible, before they ever got to the fact that there was an angel in the road.

Talk about blind and self-centered!

Have you ever had to deal with someone who just couldn’t “see” something?

It might be long division or how to read a recipe or it might even be your gift to the world.

You have to be patient while the person tries long enough to get it.

And you have to keep trying different ways of explaining the concept to help them get it.

And honestly, sometimes you just feel like giving up.

How do you think God feels about us when we live so blindly?

I just wonder if He gets as frustrated as Balaam did.

He gives each of us a gift to use; we don’t use it.

He wants us to give massively to others; we don’t have enough to even pay our own bills.

He commands us to invest; we think there’s too much risk involved so we bury our money in CDs where we think it’s “safe.”

I wonder if He gets as frustrated with us as we get with our kids.

I wonder if He allows us to feel that sense of frustration so we can experience what He experiences with us.

I wonder what it takes to get someone to “see” as God sees.

I wonder if we’ll ever truly get the mind of Christ as long as we live on this earth.

I wonder how blind we really are to the realities of this world and to what God has for each of us.

If you are still searching for your special place or purpose in life, I challenge you to ask yourself this: “Am I blind to what God wants for me and if yes, how?”

Then stand back and watch the power of God as He reveals to you His creation, His ways and His very specific and essential purpose for you!

It may not be what you expect so decide to keep your eyes open!

Is the Economy Collapsing?

I’m starting to get emails from people telling me to cash in all my assets to get away from banks with as much cash as possible.

“The end is coming so be prepared,” they say.

Something is happening in our country, you can feel it. And I agree that we are near the end. But no one knows when anything is going to happen.

Some are saying the American economy is collapsing.

It may be.

Some are saying that banks are collapsing.

They may be.

Some are saying that what is about to happen is worse than the 1929 Depression.

It may be.

If any of this is true, it is urgent that we start creating our own sources of income.

Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, said, “Divide your portion to seven or even to eight, for you do not know what misfortune may occur on the earth.” (Ec. 11:2)

That means, “Don’t put all your economic eggs in one basket.”

If you have a job, you could get laid off. If you have one source of income, it could end.

So diversify slowly by doing one thing at a time to create streams so that if one dries up, six others are still providing income.

One of the best ways to do that, (and which has created 70% of the financially free in America) is real estate.

You can create cash quickly if you know how to do it.

You don’t need money to buy a house, you need education.

The Proverbs 31 woman was a real estate investor. She “considered a field and bought it.”

If you think women are only supposed to cook, clean and birth babies, think again. Get the mind of Christ on this topic. What is a woman to do when her husband dies at age 47, or 36 or 25.

It’s happening way too often these days.

Look at how God made women to be so able to multi-task.

If you want to create streams of income, or if you have teenagers in the house that you would like to prepare to be financially free in our unstable economic world, teach them the basics of real estate in high school.

I don’t know anywhere else for families and homeschoolers to get real estate education for the Internet except one place. That’s because we put it together.

Real Education: Real Estate Investing

People ask me all the time how I encourage my children to think like entrepreneurs.

I always tell them: we focus on real life.

Yes, we do math and spelling and we read history and science and all that. But we do more than that.

We are students of real life, real business, real stuff.

My oldest son Drew just finished building his and Carol’s new house a few weeks ago and is on to the next project now.

To set the foundation, he bought a backhoe on eBay for $5,000. He used it for two or three months, fixed my drive-way with it, built his sister a pond in her front yard, then sold it on eBay… for $6,000.

Do the math. He used the backhoe for 3 months and made $1000 profit when he sold it.

He learned to think like that from his real estate education.

Then he discovered that his little brother is a very good backhoe operator.

So this past week, he bought another backhoe. A bigger backhoe.

And this summer, those two will tear up all kinds of dirt together in North Alabama.

And they’ll get paid to do it.

Hey, when you’re young, it feels great to try new things.

When they are ready to move on to the next thing, they’ll sell the backhoe… for a profit.

Then they will move on to the next project on their life long To Do list.

I personally believe that the early adult years are for exploring career options. The more you experience, the more you discover what you DON’T want to do.

Once you’ve identified that list, you can move on until you find what you DO love.

And hopefully, you won’t get stuck along the way in some good paying job that you come to hate because it pays the bills but isn’t fulfilling and robs you of your well-deserved joy.

I hate to see people unhappy in their work.

Life is too short to work in misery. Each of us is called to do something of purpose in life and once we discover it, the work brings joy to the soul.

I personally believe that one of the most overlooked areas of basic education is real estate education. Everyone lives in a house so it only makes sense to me that everyone should learn how to buy a house… at least one.

That’s why I have hand-picked a few experts to teach you the basics of the industry that has created 70% of the financially free – real estate.

Real Education: The Biltmore House

The kids and are in Gatlinburg this week on an extended field trip learning to ski, seeing old friends and having a great time.

One of the highlights of our trip has been touring the Biltmore House in Ashville, North Carolina.

The largest house in America provides many, many lessons on how to be a successful entrepreneur.

For one, after its owner and builder George Vanderbilt died, the house kept operating and paying its own expenses.

How many “average Americans” leave an enterprise to their grandchildren that continues to operate without them?

If you trade your hours for dollars, you can’t. That is, unless you leave investments behind. But that’s a different scenario.

Proverbs tells us that a wise man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, which George Vanderbilt did. He had also inherited one which he increased.

The Biltmore House is also an example of how successful community can work inside of one building.

During its early years, servants and craftsmen, who were trained in many skills, were continually on the grounds.

George knew that to have a successful operation of any kind, you find and surround yourself with experts who know their craft better than you. Give them their assignment, get out of the way and let them go.

Even his architect hired another architect who was an expert in designing swimming pools to design the indoor pool for the house.

The Biltmore House also has a large library since the Vanderbilts understood the value of reading. George was known to read two books a week.

I personally think that is the key to keeping vision and motivation alive. Reading strengthens the mind and in this day of daily sensory bombardment, we could all certainly use a good dose of quiet reading.

The most important concept I observed was that George built his house to be a haven of rest for his friends and family to visit. It has many guest rooms and many areas for entertaining.

Imagine living in a place surrounded by acres of pastures and woodlands as far as the eye can see. Maybe we all can’t have just that, but we can do what we can to make home what it is supposed to be: a place of peace where friends and family can recharge their batteries and regain vision daily.

As dads, it is our responsibility to hear from God about the place where we raise and protect our families.

As moms, it is our responsibility to hear from God about making wherever we live a haven where we nurture our children and minister to others.

As citizens of a great and free country, it is our responsibility to hear from God so that each of us learns to use the gifts He has given us, no matter what they are and no matter where we are, to contribute first in our homes, then in society, all for the glory of God.

When we do that, we will make a significant contribution to this world and leave behind a wonderful legacy for others.

Maybe it will be as spectacular as the Biltmore House!

I challenge you to think that big.

A Challenge to Act

Several things have happened this week that have challenged me to think more seriously about life.

The legality of homeschooling is being challenged all over the country and news of the national identity card has surfaced again with a target date of “7 years from now.”

Both threaten the freedom of Americans.

Both should cause us to take life more seriously.

Americans can no longer sit by passively and watch the world go around. It’s time we wake up, stand in the gap and do something about our eroding freedoms.

If you have a job, be thankful for it and use your money wisely. Invest well. If you don’t have enough to invest, look for a different source of income. Don't be content to barely get by. If that's where you are, you are financially powerless to help.

If you want to leave your job to be able to create a larger income that you have more control over, work your way out of it but don’t quit cold turkey. When your second income replaces your salary, then quit if you have a peace about it but be very careful to follow wise counsel before you do.

And that doesn't mean listening to the old geezers sitting around the barber shop. ;)

It’s time each of us creates a strong financial base that allows us to not only take care of our own families but also to impact the communities and the world around us.

Yes, we can pray. But let’s stand up and do something to protect our freedom.

I’m afraid there may be a cost. A financial cost.

Are you ready to write a check?

The Value of Apprenticeship

This past Thursday, we completed our Writing for the Web class and are already getting posts thanking us for the cool online education.

Now the folks who watched the Webinars and did their homework have started apprenticing with some web site owners to get some practical hands-on training.

The VA's who took our Virtual Assistant class at the end of last year are now in their second phase of apprenticeship.

They all seem to be loving it!

Plus, they are learning so much from those they are serving.

People often ask me why I expect our students to be involved in an apprenticeship. They question its value and wonder if we are just trying to get some free work out of the newly-trained students.

That’s because this country has forgotten the concept of true education that results from apprenticing with a master or someone who is more knowledgeable about a topic.

In early America, that’s how most of the craftsmen were trained.

That’s the principle behind medical and legal internships.

Mentors can teach a wide variety of topics so don’t limit your scope when looking for great education.

In education, it’s very valuable to have access to someone who knows more about the subject than you do.

In fact, having a mentor cuts your learning curve by years because they can steer you away from the mistakes they’ve made.

So whenever you get the opportunity to participate in an apprenticeship, realize that the good you will get out of it way outweighs the amount of work you have to do for someone that is seemingly “free.”

The experience you get is one thing; but the contacts and association you make with the mentor is often way more valuable than the skill you learn.

Don’t forget, in business, it’s not what you know that counts, it’s who knows you!

Attend a Live Event with Your Teens

People ask me all the time about how we homeschool. They want to know the “secret of success” that not only launched Drew into his career but that creates that bond between a parent and a teen.

Well, here it is in a nutshell:
Do cool stuff with them.

So many moms (with perfectionist mindsets) try to do everything FOR their kids. They give them all the best toys and clothes, sign them up for all the best classes, and expect them to do all their academic lessons perfectly.

I have found that kids often prefer to stay home more and work on lots of messy projects with just mom or dad.

At least that’s what my kids told me when we moved to the country and I finally started listening to them.

Here’s an example.

Drew has just finished building his house about 30 minutes down the road. He recruited three of his brothers, one sister and his dad to help. He also hired contractors for jobs he doesn’t like or doesn't know how to do.

Now he’s ready to start speaking at real estate conferences to teach how he sells houses on eBay. (He’s sold about 50 and is the only teacher I know who is doing what he does.)

So even though he hasn’t been to a conference in a long time, he asked me to go with him to one today.

When your 26-year-old asks you to go somewhere with him, that’s a good thing. So even though I’m already very busy, I’m going.

I consider one-on-one time away from home with a teen or young adult, the same as seeking the privacy of your bedroom to nurse your newborn.

Both have special needs and both will grow out of the stage they’re in way too soon so I cherish that stage while they are there. And I try to meet their needs as quickly and as efficiently as I can.

The problem with attending a professional event is finding one that is family-friendly where teens are welcomed. That’s why my team and I have created the events we host.

The only real estate event we may ever host is coming up this April 11-13, 2008.
If you would like to go on what has been called “the ultimate field trip” with one or two of your teens and learn how to invest in real estate at the same time, consider joining us at our Real Estate Conference in Huntsville, Alabama.

This is real education. They don’t teach this stuff in school but you can write it in your journal.
Just call it Business: Real Estate Investing. It’s worth about ½ to 1 credit.

It could also make you and your teens financially free.

At least you’ll learn how to buy and sell a house and that alone could save you or even make you tens of thousands of dollars.

But here’s the main reason.

The experience you have with whoever you take on that trip will strengthen your relationship. Talk about what you like. Talk about what you don’t like. Talk about the future.
At least talk!

Years from now, you will both look back at that weekend where memories were set in stone and you’ll thank God that you invested the time and effort to work it in to your very busy life.

Besides all that, it could just change your life.

Make sure you say hey to Drew when you get there!

We’re Moving Our Mailing List

You may have gotten a confirmation note from us this week saying you’ll never hear from us again if you don’t click that link.

If you don’t click the link, you really will never hear from us again, so please click it.

Because of the world of spam, legitimate emailers who have large lists of subscribers have an incredibly hard time getting their emails delivered these days.

We first noticed the problem last summer. I was sick in bed for several months and just didn’t stay on top of things to realize our emails weren’t getting through.

So in the fall last year, we decided to move our mailing list from AutoResponse Plus to Aweber. (You should too.)

We also had a list in 1 Shopping Cart but we try not to collect email addresses there because they bill based on the number of subscribers you have. The more you have, the higher your monthly bill. Not good.

Aweber has the strongest ability to deliver mass emails because they require double opt-in and do not offer a trial version that encourages spammers to “hit a list and run.”

So we started moving the list and learned we can only invite 2,000 subscribers per day to opt-in.

Oh brother.

So the moral to this story is, if you are planning to have an Internet-based business, start off with the right email management program in the beginning.

That way you don’t have to change horses in mid-stream.

Aweber has proven over time to be the one to use.
