I am officially obsessed with the 2 tone black in the back, white in the front aesthetic – similar to Pedro Lourenço’s Pre-Fall collection. We’re onto a trend, which I intend to perpetuate by creating some of my own. Plus this sheath dress is good for any body type – makes you look slimmer.
More with the 2 tone, this time bilaterally. The print was manipulated from a pattern on moth’s wings. Keep the limbs encased and warm. I’d love to know what fabric those pants are – subtle shine – are they stretchy?
Mirror image moth wings, collared dress. Yup, I’d wear this anywhere.
Same print, different color way. I like the pleated detail in the front, repeated in the collection in different ways.
Here we see another evolution – pleated peplum on the side, and what looked like the negative of the moth wings pattern.
A copy of the opening dress she sent out, but she tweaked the silhouette and added more body in the skirt. Bicep length leather gloves would go great under a cape.
The lone bag in the show, black on black works for me. I love all the shoes as well. I’m glad she did at least one pair of printed leggings, which, surprisingly, are not finished their journey on the fashionable arc just yet.

Taizhong is full of hotties, and they all came out to 18TC to celebrate. A gang of us trekked down from Taipei to take part in the fun, including the Rock In Hose Burlesque Troupe, who performed that night.

]]>#1 – The Long Tail Skirt or Dress
Hem line is long at the back, and short at the front — or long on one side, short on the other. The above photo is from Nasty Gal (hate the styling with those ugly boots), but the skirt is awesome.
Usually this silhouette was reserved for prom or wedding dresses, but I like the reincarnation in jersey. Gonna be making some of these today in BLACK, playing with length and body.
Above is another version – instead of the rounded hem – it’s square. I’ve been obsessed with this shape of short in the front, long in the back since early December. (I should really start telling you about these things earlier!) Although I really prefer rounded.
The sheer dress above is from Stolen Girlfriends Club, which ignited my love of this silhouette when I first noticed it in their 2010 collection (which they did with tops).
Part of the reason I became a designer was that I couldn’t find what I wanted to wear. I need a black jersey long tail skirt, with elastic at the top. Center seam, so If I want, I can wear the short part on either side.
#2 – Crop Tops
These came into popularity last summer among some cool girls I know (although only the skinny bitches wore them) and a few brave souls have been toughing it out in the winter – personally I’ve been layering them over t-shirts so I don’t freeze. Expect a huge resurgence this summer.
Works best oversized. It’s not the 90s anymore, no need to be so skin tight slutty. This chick pulls it off nicely.

#3 – Rockabilly 50s Pin Up
More of styling art than a key piece, pin up girl look is so totally hot. Or maybe that’s just what I’m into at the moment. Never really goes away, there’s always been a subculture of Beautiful Bitches. (check out that site, caution NSFW, my favorite)

Expect to see this trend in hair (rolled up or in curls), make-up (cat eye liquid liner + red lips), and swimwear.
#4 – One Piece Swimsuits
Two years ago, the hottest thing in swimwear was cut-out swimsuits. We’ve done it, paraded around the pool and covered up the tan lines. This year I think we’ll see a lot more coverage – but it won’t be as boring as you think!
Printed swimwear like what Blackmilk’s been putting out, is getting a new lease on life. The new Queen of Hearts, goes with those cards I’ve been playing more of lately:

I heard Paris Spring 2012 loud and clear. Biggest color trend of the season is black and white. But you’re prob already into it, aren’t you, you little fashionista, you? I couldn’t wait for warmer weather either.

#4 – The Art of Manipulating Fabric - This book isn’t new, but I’ve wanted it for a long time because it’s awesome. I even went to Amazon and snooped on the pages inside and it is a gold mine of techniques with how tos. Not available at Eslite 
#5 – Subscription to Korean Vogue -I just bought this issue, loves it. FYI, every Dec. they package it with their Spring/Summer collection picks in a mini mag half the size of a regular one. It’s so worth the price. It fits in my purse and it’s my go-to guide. But I need a subscription cuz they are expensive.
#6 – Any of the Taipei In Style magazines. I do not mean the US InStyle, that is shit IMHO. This one has many issues detailing runway pictures divided into $1500NT books – Cut & Sew, Dresses, Shirts, Bottoms, Accessories, etc. I could not find ANYTHING on the internet with a photo. Next time I’m in there, I’ll snap a pic and update this. They also do Spring and Fall collections divided into major fashion week city categories – my most wanted being PARIS, of course. Of the previous, DRESSES.
#7 – Rick Owens (I did not see this at Eslite, but he is one hell of a designer. Major drool over every leather jacket he’s ever made. Maybe someday I’ll have an extra 2000 to drop on it.
#8 – The Business of Fashion: Designing, Manufacturing, & Marketing (Excellent textbook and contains many things I need to know!)
There were a bunch more books at Eslite I noticed, but can’t remember. This ones are on my list for next year!
