This is great news from the left and the right in support of US sovereignty. I am not a supporter of the United Nations. As far as I am concerned we can push the building into the Atlantic and build something for the people of America. No country in their right mind should allow UN to dictate what its citizens should do or how they should act. The UN was a nice idea that needs to be dismantled. We already meet regularly with nations we are friends with and sometimes with those that we are not. We do not need a governing body that will dictate what we can and cannot do. The UN has its own agenda. It is an agenda that does not keep in mind the sovereignty of its member nations in mind. Its only concern seems to be how it can rob a few nations to give to a few nations. I have a mind of my own and I can decided who should get my support. I don't need the UN, the Federal, State or Local Governments to tell me what to do with my hard earned dollars. This is the biggest challenge we are facing as a nation right now. Why is our debt ceiling about to be reached? Why did we bail out Banks and State Governments? Who benefited? What change has there been since October 2009? None! Unemployment is holding steady at 9.2%. We continue in a downward spiral of spending and spending with no end in sight. Stop! Use common sense! Follow the law! The answers are in our constitution and those whom oppose UN Gun Control are on the right tract. Look to the rest of the Constitution to lead to better decisions for the US before it is too late.

Why I Get Mad at the Super Market

I used to think I was wrong to get mad a people using "Food Stamps" or "Government Welfare" while I noticed them also waring gold rings, nicer clothes than I had on, and buying stakes in stead of canned meat like I was, now I know why. The Census Bureau in their last report on the poor listed them as having a better life style than I do. I always thought that the poor were homeless, starving, and unable to enjoy the same comforts I do. I have AC, Satellite TV, washer and dryer, and other modern comforts but so do 63.7% of the people who call themselves poor. Where is my share? I should be considered poor.

Houston Veterans Claim Censorship of Prayers, Including Ban on 'God' and 'Jesus'

I am back at it. Yes once again I am back blogging. I read an article in the Knights of Columbus magazine July Issue (not online yet) "Columbia" titled "Where Freedom is Threatened" by Leonard Leo. In this article he reports about countries and societies that are anti-religion or hostile to one or more religious minorities. Now today I read this "Huston Veterans Claim Censorship of Prayers, Including Ban on 'God' and 'Jesus'", what happened to the right to freedom of religion or for that matter freedom of speech? Are the words 'God' and 'Jesus' protected under free speech let alone the freedom of religion? How secular we have become when mentioning 'God' or 'Jesus' is not a normal part of a funeral?

It is my opinion that the main downfall of America is secularism and the underlining misunderstanding of our Constitutional Amendments especiall the First Amendment. The following is the exact quote of the First Amendment "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." Does anyone see in there the phrase "Separation of Church and State?" Of course not because it is found no ware in the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution or the Amendments to the Constitution. Go ahead read them if you don't trust me.

The phrase "Separation of Church and State" is an off shoot of the phrase "wall of separation between church and state,", as written in Thomas Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptist Association in 1802. What he was referring to is the Federal Government not to have the ability to setup a national church. There is nothing about Prayer in school's, reading the Bible or saying a prayer in a Government Building, or anything pointing to the removal of any or all religious icons, holiday's or the mentioning of God. People who believe we were founded by men and women who were not religious in nature do not know their history.

Our country was founded on the principals that our rights come from our Creator. That the individual can make a difference and most importantly the Federal Government should stay out of our lives. It makes me frustrates to see so many people rely on the Government for everything. Giving up rights for security, giving up religious freedoms to accommodate or placate people who have no belief. Not allowing discourse instead embracing political correctness. We must all change. We need to get back to relying on ourselves, family, friends and neighbors. Like the people of Tuscaloosa, hit by that terrible tornado, they helped each other and people from all over came to help. No one called for FEMA. We can do it like them and all make a difference.

Ed Schultz calls Laura Ingraham a slut. See this Drudge Report. I can't understand why reporters on the left of center use name calling and other forms of deformation to make a point. Isn't there a course they can take to learn to use intelligent reporting rather than mud slinging. I used to think the news was about facts, however lately the level of slander has increased on the left. Not sure what to say? What do you think?

Many illegal aliens have children in the United States so that they can reap the benefits that the Constitution allows. This is a problem for me because people have broken the law to attain a right. It is wrong for them to be here, so why should we grant American Citizenship to their child? The child innocent in this matter. The parents are the law breakers. I believe that this law will stop this problem.

It is not the United States that is the one's at fault, it is the countries outside our boarders that are the problems. They need to fix their system and not force their citizens to become criminal in our country. We also need to establish a simpler way for people who want to come to out country and become citizens. Our nation is a melting pot dependent on immigrants. My grandfathers parents on my dad's side of the family immigrated from Japan, and on my mothers side some of her ancestors arrived via the Mayflower. The rest of my lineage are Native Americans, Hawaiian and Cherokee, who were here before America existed. They had no choice in the matter of becoming a citizen or not.

I am often asked why I speak out against illegal aliens? My answer is we are a county of laws and if they don't respect our laws why should we respect them. When an American breaks a law they pay a fine or go to jail, however if you are an illegal alien and have a child in America, the parents have already broken a law and are not punished. What message are we sending to the child, or anyone else for that matter. Does the laws of the land apply to them or not? They do and we should enforce them.

Don't Mess With Big Sis

Freedom of speech makes this pilots cockpit less secure. The TSA is going to take a beating on this one. Not because of its employees, it is because of stupid policies put in place by the bureaucrats in Washington. I have tried to make it clear that I have no problem with any TSA Agent, I have problems with the policies and procedures produced by the pencil pushers in Washington. Here is another example of a hole in the system that when exposed is handled with German SS like action.

I am seriously opposed to the way we are handling our air travel. It has been nine years since the last attack on US soil. What was wrong with the system we had in place before 9/11? The terrorist got into our country illegally, trained by an American Flight School, and boarded planes with fake ID's. All areas we should concentrate on, instead of violating the rights of our citizens.

Tighten our boarders. Get our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Let the CIA and UAV's take care of the bad guys there and allow our armed forces to stop illegals from crossing our boarders. Next and most important, anyone here without the right to be here is deported to their country of origin. If they want to come into our country they must go through immigration. We also need to make immigration easier. Our country needs new Americans not illegal aliens.

Flight schools, colleges, and all public and private schools must provide valid documentation for non-Americans studying here. If they can not the school is fined and the student immediately deported.

Each State needs to create their own identification cards such as a state id or drivers license that is unique and secure. Foreigners may not be issued state id's, they should have to carry a valid drivers license form their country, passport and visa while traveling in our country. Once there visa expires and they haven't left the country, they are to be arrested and deported immediately and never issued another visa to visit our country. They are also to be added to a database of people not allowed to immigrate to our country.

The next change I would make for Airports is to make the airlines own their terminals and provide their own security. Privatization could lead to safer travel and new innovations in aviation. We still use technology that was invented during WWII. Planes are a little more safe, a little more quite, and get a little better gas mileage, however that's it. Airlines under the thumb of the FAA struggle to stay afloat. Government should be there to protect and foster business not kill it.

Big Sis and the rest of the bureaucracy in Washington focus on the people who jeopardize our lives. Remove the law breakers and stop new ones from getting in. Protect and uphold the Constitution not trample on it. Give us back our inalienable rights that come from our creator and not from the government.

President Obama plans to regulate greenhouse gases from power plants using the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Since the climate baloney bill could not be passed by congress, even though it could have with its majority, it did not because climate change is false. This entire scare is based on false data, lying scientist, and greedy men and women who feed off of public fear. This kind of activity has gone too far. This is not a monarchy or democracy, it is a republic. The people rule, not a few nut jobs on Capital Hill. America we need to stop this kind of action before we become irrelevant.

Cultural Sex or Child Abuse

Documents released by WikiLeaks bring to the forefront a double standard in Afghanistan, men may have sexual relations with young boys but not adult men. Not that I condone either, however when one is morally wrong shouldn't both be. What is our military to do? Pedophilia is a crime in the US, UK, and most western countries. Do we enforce our laws on the people we are helping or let them continue to practice their culture? Being a native Hawaiian and an American I can see it both ways.

Due to the Missionaries that came to Hawaii in the 1780's, many cultural changes happened, some good and some bad. As an American seeing what was happening in Hawaii in the 1780's, I would have be horrified by some of the laws and social norms.

So what is the best way to deal with this problem? I am not sure. My biggest concern is the well being of the young male children being used for sex by the older men. If we are to help them that needs to stop. How to do it without creating a cultural backlash is the problem. If the Afghans haven't figured out that homosexuality with boys is the same as with adults, there may be nothing to change that belief.

The FCC is trying to gain control over the net using "Net Neutrality" as their in. LEAVE THE INTERNET ALONE! I know there are problems with information available on the net. Some information might even be considered dangerous, of course pornographic, racist, and any other bad thing out there, however this is the beauty of the internet, it is freedom. The freedom to post and say anything a person wants. It no longer puts the power of the press in a few, it puts it in millions. Any regulation by a government agency like the FCC or even worst the United Nations, would hamper the expression of many people. I believe if any regulations are tried that the real hackers, the ones who work for individual rights and freedom of expression will fight to remove any and all restrictions to the flow of information. (Did my filter just turn off?) No I typed it "Hackers".

Most Hackers do not steal data for profit, destroy networks for financial gain, or do anything to cause problems. Most hackers work to improve the environment that they work in, the wold of ones and zeros. They are the people leading the charge in developing most of the shareware or freeware on the net. Open Source products abound and are at times better than commercial products you can buy. I wounder who created most of the Open Source Products?

Call your Senator and Representative and tell them to vote no on Net Neutrality. Also tell the UN to stay out of the Internet.

Fuel, oil, gas or whatever else you need to move people and goods are not moving in France. Union workers united, claim to have a right to retire at 60. Okay let them and their union pay for it and not the French Government. This is what is coming to America if we do not understand the consequences of our actions. No union bail outs like GM. Unions are supposed to be working to take care of their workers not the American people. Unions leaders used to serve its members but now all they care about is money and power for themselves.

Cloud Computing is becoming a reality. Google offers a free set of applications similar to Microsoft Office, except it is free or $50.00 a year per person for companies. I have been using Google Apps. since they became available. Though I am not as competent in them as I am with Microsoft Office apps. I do find myself using Google Doc's a lot for short notes. Your document are stored on line and you are able to retrieve them anywhere a computer has access to an internet connection. Google however is not the only choice out there. Microsoft is now offering their version of Cloud Computing apps. and Carbonite, the backup your computer company is now allowing you access to your files form other computers.

So where is this all going? I am not sure about your pocket book, but mine is running on empty when it comes to buying software for my computer. In the past I had been telling people that the cost of computer would reduce rapidly as according to "Moores Law" while software would become ever more expensive to own. Until Open Source programs like OpenOffice became available I was correct. Now thanks to the Open Source Community and companies like Google, most applications from word processing to digital video editing can be found on the net for free.

Two problems that may arise will be when true software companies become extinct. Right now Microsoft dominates the world with it operating system and its Office Suite of programs. Norton and McAfee compete with each other for new paying customers to use their time tested anti-virus programs. All three of these companies now also compete with companies that offer free programs that in my book can offer better products. What do you do?

It's up to you. If you are a computer geek, getting a free application is fine because technical support is not available. For novices, purchasing software may be the key because someone to help you figure out how to create a check box in your document is jut a phone call away.

Which ever way you decide to go the most important thing to look for is something that you personally like to use. Nothing is more frustrating then trying to get things just the way you like them if your biggest obstacle is your software.

My Plan for America

The news I have been reading lately has been trying, and difficult at times. It seems neither the Democrats or the Republicans have a plan of action that will make America better. The have tried bailouts, stimulus, owning banks and a car company, etc. Basically spending us into oblivion. Joe Biden once told a crowd of people that we need to spend more money to get out of debt. The many Republicans are no better, being fiscally responsible to the point of being voted out. Now we are at a crossroads. Mid-term elections are right around the corner. There is no doubt that many incumbents will loose seats to newbies while others will be replaced with copies of their former selves. To me it out come means nothing. What will count is how they will vote and the following is what I propose they do.

1) Repeal both the Health Care Bill and the Economic Reform Bill.
2) Enforce current immigration laws.
3) Secure our borders.
4) Cut Federal spending in half.
5) Institute a flat tax of 11-13% and remove the class war inviting progressive tax.
6) Get rid of the Federal Reserve and print our own currency.
7) End all Federal Entitlement Programs.
8) Close all military bases over seas.
9) If we are going to be a war we fight to win or bring our troops home.
10) No more Federal Foreign Aid in an shape or form.
11) Repeal the the 16th Amendment after debt is paid off
12) Repeal the 17th Amendment immediately

Wow that is a long list. Too long to write about in a short blog entry. I will though write about each one on the list and explain why it needs to be done. If you have other ideas, let me know. This is our country and we as the people need to take it back.

Are Holidays Necessary?

Reuters reports today that "Muslim parents, students and civic groups are campaigning to add two of their religious holidays to the New York City public school calendar, pinning their hopes on state lawmakers after failing to win over Mayor Michael Bloomberg to the idea."

As a Catholic, there are many holidays that are not celebrated by having a day off from work or from school for that matter. The religious one Holiday they do recognize is Good Friday. Christmas falls in under winter vacation as does Easter. Students and some workers are not compensated for Holidays that land on a week end.

Why don't I agree with the Muslim parents is when there was a Holy Day of Obligation, We were allowed to go in the evening to celebrate. Muslims need to adapt if they haven't already. This may call for a people to ask that Good Friday be removed as a Holiday and while they are at it Christmas should also go. I am sure they read the Constitution where is specifically says "there must be a separation of Church and State".

Well I hate to spoil you fun, there is no line in the Constitution or Bill of Rights that calls for a separation of Church and State. What it does say is this "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion," Oops someone please point out in the Bill of Rights where it calls for the separation of Church and State. It was Thomas Jeffersion who in a letter is quoted as saying "there needs to be a separation of church and state. What he meant to say The Federal Government has no right to establish a church.

However this ends the only losers in this battle will be the children. There will be no more religious holidays again. Secularism will win while we continue to get rid of people who do not care for it citizens, its only careis power and money,

Home Buying Check List

You might have noticed in the news that 30 year mortgage rates hit new record low. This is the perfect time to buy a home with many people selling or being foreclosed on it is a buyers market. To make one of the largest investments in your life I decided to put together a list of things you should know before spending your hard earned cash.

1) Be debt free. You should have no credit card payments, car payments, or owe money to any person or company. You should also have saved up an emergency fund of 3 - 6 months. That means saved up 3 to 6 months of your take home pay in the bank. You also need to have 10% to 20% down payment before you get started.

2) Get pre-approved and lock in your interest rate for a 15 year not 30 year loan. When I went shopping for a loan I went to several banks and mortgage brokers before I got the interest rate I wanted and had it locked in for 90 days. Things you should have when you shop for a loan: Pay stubs at least the last two. Have a net worth worksheet worked out. You will be amazed at how much money you may qualify for, just remember your monthly payment should not exceed 25% of your take home pay. Now why a 15 year and not a 30 year loan, the difference in monthly payment is usually minimal however the interest paid is significant. Lets assume your house cost $100,000, you put down $20,000 and borrow $80,000 at 4.58%. Your monthly payment would be $410.00 a month and you will pay over $67,000 in interest over 30 year. Now lets change to a 15 year mortgage all other things remaining the same you will pay $616.00 a month and pay about 31,000 in interest over the 15 years. Paying an additional $206.00 a month will save you $36,000 in interest payments. Plus you house is paid for in half the time.

3) Never fall in love with a home and choose your Realtor wisely. I fired 3 before I found one that would listen to me. They would show me houses that I wanted to buy which was fantastic, however when it came time to make an offer on a home, the fist three would not do what I asked. They work for me not the other way around. For example, a home was listed for $187,000, my Realtor told me to bid full price, I said bid $130,000. They told me I needed to offer full price again, to which I said offer $130,000 or be fired. They chose to be fired. Remember any product is only worth what a person is willing to pay for it. The seller may want a lot more than what the buyer is willing to pay always negotiate. My home appraised for $138,000 and I bought it for a lot less. I liked the home but if I didn't buy it I wasn't going to cry, so by offering a lower price I was able to negotiate a lower price.

4) Get a home inspection and walk with the inspector. Be sure to include in your contract that if the inspector finds problems that the seller will pay to have the problems fixed at their expense or lower their asking price so that you will be able to fix the problems. I would always spend a few hundred dollars for an inspection to save thousands in the future.

The job market is tight and may get tighter in the coming months as the recession will continue well into next year. Have you ever thought about doing something different from what you do now? I have on occasion been called a computer expert, geek, guru, and my all time favorite computer god, but did you know that I suck at programming? I do. I went to school to become a computer scientist and ended up becoming a professional salesperson instead. In fact for most of my life I have been in some form or another a professional sales person.

Today I use the skills as a professional sales person to promote myself and help others sell themselves to employers. I know that if you are a car technician you will make a great computer repair person. If you are teacher, have you ever thought about being a tour guide. How about selling that fantastic sauce you use on your food to others? If sticking to your current job isn't working out so well try something new.

As a Life Coach one aspect of my business is getting people back to work. I assist in reviewing your resume. I look at your life skills to match them to occupations that you may not have thought you could do. Just because you have been cleaning toilets for a living doesn't mean you need to wait for another similar job. Opportunity Never Knocks

Cliches are used a lot by people, myself included. Winners don't quit and quitters never win, there is no i in team, etc. Are they true, self-fulfilling, or just plain lies? As leaders, managers, CEO's and entrepreneurs know all cliches are mostly false.

Thomas Edison often sold the idea of a product long before he had ever made it. Ron Popeil has sold thousands of products, the Pasta Machine, Pocket Fisherman, Knives, and many more, not because they were the top of the line products, because they offered the buyer the chance to achieve more by doing less. What made them succeed and why does it matter?

Both men understood that to make themselves successful they had to be first. No one knew that they needed the incandescent light bulb, moving pictures (Movies), a knife that could cut through a can and still slice a tomato paper thin, however once seen they needed one.

Henry Ford said "you could have a Model T in any color as long as it was black". Back then no one wanted a Model T, they wanted faster stronger horses. Henry Ford is remembered not as much for the cars he built, it was for his innovation of a assembly line. Without it the Model T would have taken months to build by hands and cost beyond what the everyday American could afford.

What sets you apart from other companies, managers, co-workers, or other entrepreneur? Are you going to wait around for opportunity? Seek opportunity. Create a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) works sheet. Forget about the weaknesses and develop your strengths. Limiting yourself will only close doors. Threats are the hardest to identify. Going for perfection will create a situation where a project or something else may never get done. When you realize there is something called good enough you will know that the thing you were working on is done.
Find balance between so you don't slack off putting a project aside until you have reached perfection or get loss polishing it till it shines. Find you balance through your experience.

2. Have a deadline
Setting a deadline is a good way to give yourself a kick in the butt letting you know when enough is enough.

3.Realize that you hurt yourself and the people around you buy buying into the myths of perfection.
Getting yourself loss in your own mind game of perfection will cause you to clash with people that may cause hurt and a lost friendships. Don't lose yourself in your desire to achieve perfection, think about the harm you can cause and bring yourself back to reality.

4. Accept that you are human and so is everyone else.
Self explanatory.

5. Compare yourself to yourself.
There are people who are better at thing than you are. This can lead to feelings of inferiority. So compare yourself to yourself. See how you have changed and improved over time.

6, Do what you think is the right thing.
You realize that perfectionism will hurt or harm yourself and others. When you do the right thing you will realize that other peoples expectations of have less control over you.

7. Live in and environment of human standards.
Emotions are contagious and so is perfectionism. Read magazines with realistic expectations. Spend more time with people who want to improve themselves. Live in an environment that leads you to a happy and content life.

Lets "Talk Story"

Communication today is very different from just 10 years ago. Now we have cell phones everywhere, texting, posting, tweeting, etc. etc. Most times the communication is one way. Well maybe we need to change. I propose we have a two way conversation face to face. That can be scary for many who only want to communicate via keyboard. Well times are a changing and now is your chance to get a foot in the door of a program I call "Talk Story".

I grew up in Hawaii and until the missionaries came to Hawaii we had no written language. Culture, history, art, and everything else was passed down through stories. I have a girls Hawaiian middle name Kalikookalani which means the heavenly budding flower. Now why a girls middle name for a boy? Here is the "story" I was told. When the American's took over the islands in 1893, they went after all of the Royals. Queen Liliokalani was put under house arrest. Those fearing the same faith took on English names to hide their Royal Lineage. According to the "story" I was told I am a decedent of Princess Kalikookalani, daughter of Kamehameha and Kaaumanu. Pretty cool right. I don't think its true but it is kinda fun to think you are an Alii. Well this is way off the subject. Or is it?

Talking story is a way for us to truly communicate. We sit and listen. I am sure it is different for men and women. We guys mostly talk about our hobbies, like fishing, cars, or sports. We try to one up each other. We tell politically incorrect jokes. We poke fun at each others faults. But most of all we laugh, we share, we become community. I am sure women are not much different. They may not talk about cars, fishing or sports though I am sure they are also building community. So how do we do this?

Have a party. Progressive dinners are fun, pot lucks are easy, however my favorite is a cook out. Men make fire. Put meat on fire. Eat meat. We all stand around the grill trying not to burn everything all the while the women gather to discuss the latest gossip. We laugh, we sing (me always off key), we understand that we are not alone.

What does this have to do with communication in today's society? Lets stop to communicating one way. Lets stop formulating what we are going to say before the person finishes their sentence. Lets make it a point to allow ourselves a chance to share our story. Our unwritten story. Let us all take time to sit back and listen to each other and wait for silence, then tell our story.
