I was getting a slow start today, then I notice this shared by a Facebook friend

Changed my outlook for the day. I hope it does the same for you.

Some would say that failure is the opposite of success. Most of the time, they are dead wrong.

Some failures bad. Some are good. What makes the difference?

Often they tell me that they are frustrated about money, so I share ideas, systems and programs that I know will work for their situation. More often than not, we find that there are simple things they have overlooked or forgotten. Once simple change ends up leveraging their efforts and making the path to wealth much easier than you would have imagined.

It’s like the money is right there waiting for them.

Some follow the advice, some can’t believe it’s real, and a few attack the advice… as if they’ve become the expert at not receiving money.  I suggest the following video as a reminder that the money is often right there in front of you:

The truth is that business is not as easy as the get rich quick offers make it out to be. There is no magic bean or system that will make you rich. However, it is very possible.

I recently reread Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap… and Others Don’t by Jim Collins. Much of the book is about large companies and the specific examples may not feel relevant to your start up or small business.  But the principles that Collins talks about come from extensive extended research and interviews with CEO and companies that have survived and thrived over the long haul.

The secret was revealed in the questions about what allowed these companies to achieve many times the growth of their competitors. It wasn’t some technological advantage. In fact, most of the winners were unlikely to even mention the technology, patents, or proprietary methods their company employed.

The best companies, the ones that jumped ahead and produced more income, jobs and profits were the ones that mastered the mundane. They focused on what worked and worked at getting repeated results in whatever proved successful.

If you have a bad business and somehow magically get a ton of publicity or a big rush of customers, what you have is a bad business that’s very busy.

Please don’t take offense. We’re all guilty of seeing a bright and shiny object (like “traffic” or technology) as the cure for our basic failure to master the mundane.

This year, in our business, we’re meeting daily to remind ourselves that the secret of succe3ss is in the details and working on fixing the little things that hold up our business growth. Since our business is about helping your business, we’ll share ideas and thought on this here.

We’ve been having a discussion on simplicity today and this video came to mind.

I quote it often.. as my explanation of how complex simple can be.

The more we can zoom out and see the whole problem, the more likely simple answer will appear.

Dr. Tone LaMotta, author of What You Really Want Wants You shared with me this quote from Bob Proctor.

Realizing I hadn’t seen it before, I did some research. I could find that exact phrase, but found all those words and the same concept over and over.

And a wonderful story told by Bob Proctor:

In 9th grade, I knew this guy who got kicked out of school.

Feeling stuck, he got a low paying job and did not anticipate any sort of success coming his way.

Things were going from bad to worse when the book, "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, was given to him. That little book was, not only the first book he had ever read, but it brought a major turning point in his life, as well as in the Personal Development industry as a whole.

From that point he went from earning $4,000 a year to over $1,000,000 a year in a short amount of time. And it has only been up-hill ever since

The guy in the story is Bob Proctor.

A simple idea can make a big difference. Dr. Lamotta reminded me of that, and many other ways that you can be happy in in any economy at any time.
