Obligasi pemerintah Australia telah mengalami reli yang cukup tajam sepanjang tahun ini, sementara investor berusaha menghindari investasi di Euro zone yang relatif sangat beresiko dan di sisi lain menjanjikan pengembalian yang lebih besar daripada US Treasurys.

Banyak investor memang terpancing oleh rating utang AAA yang dimiliki oleh Australia. Dalam hal ini Australia memang banyak beruntung dari peningkatan penghasilan pajak dari boom pertambangan dan berkurangnya pengeluaran pemerintah. Beban utang Australia diperkirakan hanya berada pada kisaran paling tinggi 10 % dari GDP nya tahun ini, dan kemudian turun lagi. Nomura: Kelanjutan “Wabah” Sistem Keuangan Global?

Masih ingatkah anda dengan skandal kebocoran di institusi finansial Barclay di Inggris beberapa bulan yang lalu? Saat itu ditengarai CEO Robert Diamond and Chief Operating Officer Jerry del Missier berusaha memanipulasi suku bunga bersama yang ditawarkan oleh bank-bank London. Akhirnya kedua jenderal besar di Barclay itu dipaksa angkat kaki karena tindakan ini dinilai telah melanggar peraturan perbankan.

Kali ini, dari lembaga perbankan terbesar di Jepang yakni Nomura Holdings Inc. juga mengalami skandal yang serupa tapi tak sama. , Chief Executive Officer Kenichi Watanabe dan letnan andalannya Chief Operating Officer Takumi Shibata terpaksa mengundurkan diri. Keduanya dianggap bertanggungjawab atas adanya kebocoran informasi penting tentang penjualan saham untuk perusahaan Mizuho Financial Group Inc., Inpex Corp. and Tokyo Electric Power Co.

Lembaga pengawas perbankan telah menemukan bukti-bukti terkait adanya tindakan melanggar hukum finansial yang dilakukan oleh Nomura. Koji Nagai pun akhirnya ditunjuk sebagai CEO baru Nomura yang secara efektif akan mulai menjalankan tugasnya tertanggal 1 Agustus 2012. Beban berat kini ada di pundak Nagai untuk memulihkan nama besar Nomura dan melanjutkan langkah ekspansi global yang telah dilakukan oleh pendahulu-pendahulunya.

Sejarah Berkelanjutan Insiden-Insiden Homura

Ini bukan pertama kalinya skandal keuangan memaksa CEO perusahaan Jepang ini untuk terpaksa mengundurkan diri. Hideo Sakamaki turun dari posisinya sebagai presiden pada 1997 setelah perusahaan mengakui adanya upaya “sokaiya”. Ini adalah upaya membayar suap kepada pimpinan-pimpinan perusahaan agar memberikan informasi penting.

Sebelumnya lagi pada 1991, CEO Yosihisa Tabuchi juga turun dari jabatannya setelah bank ini ditemukan membayar kliennya atas kerugian yang terjadi. Kali ini yang agak tragis adalah skandal 2012 ini secara langsung berdampak negative terhadap upaya Nomura dalam rangka menjadi institusi perbankan nomor satu di Asia.

Keberadaan informasi yang begitu penting menjadikan insiden kebocoran seperti ini juga bukan hanya dilakukan oleh Nomura. Hal yang sama juga diakui terjadi di 11 broker besar lainnya di Jepang. Namun langkah cepat yang diambil oleh pihak manajemen telah memungkinkan mereka untuk mengantisipasi potensi ancaman pasar Jepang ataupun global.

Ditengah upaya Ekspansi Global

Sekitar tiga tahun yang lalu, ditengah upayanya untuk menjadi institusi finansial utama global maka Nomura membeli operasi Lehman’s Brothers yang bangkrut di Eropa dan Asia dengan harga yang relative murah.

Aktivitas agresif yang ditunjukkan ini sebenarnya telah menunjukkan keseriusan Nomura untuk menjadi institusi finansial utama global untuk di masa mendatang bersaing dengan Goldman Sachs. Inc. Watanabe juga telah memangkas sekitar 1300 pekerjaan dalam 6 bulan terakhir dalam rangka menjalankan program pengurangan biaya operasional sebesar 1.2 miliar US dollar.

Kini perubahan manajemen tampak menjadi sedikit angin segar paska skandal yang telah merusak citra Nomura ini. Pendapatan bersih diperkirakan turun 1.6 miliar yen dalam tiga bulan terakhir dibandingkan dengan tahun sebelunya. Di bawah kepemimpinan Watanabe pula, perusahaan mencatatkan rekor kerugian pada akhir 2009 dengan jumlah mencapai 708 miliar yen.

Serangkaian hasil buruk itulah yang mungkin mempengaruhi Watanabel untuk melakukan segala cara untuk mengembalikan performa Nomura. Seperti yang dapat dilihat di bawah ini dari nilai saham Nomura sepanjang tahun 2012 relatif terus menerus mengalami penurunan. Barulah pada akhir Juli 2012, ketika ada pengumuman pengunduran diri Watanabe dan letnannya maka tercatat ada kenaikan nilai saham sekitar 5 persen.

Skandal ini telah menjadi pelajaran penting bagi Nomura untuk semakin memperbaiki kinerjanya. Kini mereka harus memposisikan dirinya sebagai lembaga keuangan yang kredibel lagi agar bisa sejalan dengan visi ekspansi global yang diusungnya.

Sebaliknya, bagi dunia finansial, skandal ini juga menjadi pelajaran penting untuk menciptakan sistem yang semakin baik sehingga tidak hanya menguntungkan perusahaan-perusahaan tertentu, tetapi juga bisa membawa kepentingan investor-investor pada umumnya.

Dalam kesempatan kali ini, Vibiznews akan mencoba mengupas kantong-kantong uang Buffet yang diperolehnya dari perusahaan investasi Hathaway Berkshire. Awalnya ini hanyalah sebuah perusahaan tekstil yang hampir bangkrut, namun di situlah awal Buffet melihat bahwa Hathaway Berkeley diperdagangkan di bawah nilai riilnya sehingga ia memutuskan untuk membeli saham di sana.

Perlahan tetapi pasti Hathaway Berkshire meninggalkan industri tekstil, dan beralih ke berbagai industri potensial lainnya yang akhirnya menjadi kantong-kantong uang bagi Buffet dan perusahaannya Hathaway Berkshire.

Industri Media
Di sini ada DirecTV sebagai perusahaan penyedia jasa penyiaran satelit yang telah berdiri sejak tahun 1994. Perusahaan ini memungkinkan para pelanggan untuk menikmati layanan tv dan audio mulai dari tingkat local hingga internasional. Di sini nilai kepemilikan Hathaway mencapai 1.48 miliyar dollar. Selain itu, ada juga kepemilikan atas The Washington Post sebagai perusahaan media massa harian yang tertua di kawasannya. Di sini kepemilikan saham atas Washington Post bahkan mencapai 23.2 persen.

Bisnis Retail
Di sisi lain, bisnis retail juga menjadi salah satu andalan dalam melakukan ekspansi usaha. Tercatat perusahaan-perusahaan multinasional mulai dari Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), Procter & Gamble (P&G), Kraft Food, Walmart, Coca-cola merupakan beberapa industry retail dimana Buffet banyak berinvestasi.

P&G sebagai perusahaan yang menghasilkan berbagai consumer goods ternama seperti Olay, Rejoice, Pantene, Oral-B, dan masih banyak lagi memiliki kepemilikan sebesar 3.98 miliar dollar oleh (Hathaway Berkshire) HB. Walmart sebagai perusahaan public terbesar di dunia bergerak dalam dalam bidang department store 3.46 miliyar dollar-nya juga dimiliki oleh Buffet. Kraft Foods juga sebagai produsen makanan kedua terbesar di dunia 3.3 persen sahamnya dimiliki oleh HB.

Hal tersebut belum lagi ditambah dengan 709.27 juta dollar kepemilikan di Johnson & Johnson, 5.8 persen kepemilikan saham IBM, dan 15.75 miliar dollar kepemilikan atas perusahaan ternama Coca-cola. Serangkaian data di atas menunjukkan bahwa industri retail telah menjadi salah satu ujung tombak utama Buffet.

Industri Keuangan
Sudah sejak lama memang industri keuangan menjadi pilar kesuksesan Buffet, maka tak mengherankan kalau sektor ini juga menjadi pilar pentingnya di HB. Tercatat Wells Fargo sebagai bank terbesar di Amerika dalam hal kapitalisasi pasar pun 13.96 miliar dollarnya dimiliki oleh Buffet.

Moody’s bisnis pemeringkat kredit obligasi juga tak luput dari kejeliannya. Di samping itu masih ada lagi US Bancorp sebagai bank terbesar kelima di AS 3.5 persen sahamnya dimiliki HB. American Express sebagai perusahaan jasa keuangan yang merupakan satu dari 20 perusahaan paling berharga di dunia 13.3 persen sahamnya juga dimiliki Buffet.

Industri Kesehatan
Tidak puas dengan berbagai industry di atas, DaVita selaku salah satu perusahaan perawatan ginjal 9.8 percent kini telah dimiliki Hathaway Berkshire. Industri yang relatif kurang diminati tetapi Buffet berani masuk ke dalamnya, maka bukan tidak mungkin aka nada gebrakan dalam industi ini di masa mendatang.

Bidang Energi
Kelima, dan salah satu yang paling anyar tentunya di bidang energy. ConocoPhillips dan anak perusahaannya Phillips 66. Keduanya bereksplorasi di bidang minyak bumi dan gas alam menjadi salah satu perusahaan terbaik di bidangnya masing-masing juga dimiliki oleh Buffet beberapa persen sahamnya. Kepemilikan di Phillip 66 mencapai 1.08 miliar dollar dan di ConocoPhillip mencapai 1.65 miliyar dollar.

Kelima industry di atas sebenarnya hanyalah segelintir bisnis yang diinvestasikan oleh Buffet dalam jumlah yang cukup besar. Di sinilah, bisa dilihat kejelian Buffet dalam melihat bisnis-bisnis potensial yang mampu tumbuh dan berkembang pesat di masa mendatang.

Masih ingatkah anda dengan Lim Sioe Long? Mantan orang terkaya nomor satu di Indonesia dan Asia ini baru saja meninggal dunia beberapa bulan yang lalu terkait penyakit tua yang dideritanya.

Di tengah berbagai kontroversi yang dihadirkannya ketika periode Orde Baru, banyak yang belum tahu bahwa dialah pahlawan di balik layar tumbuh dan berkembangnya dunia bisnis modern di Indonesia.

Akan tetapi beliau mungkin memang telah ditakdirkan untuk menjadi pengusaha sukses di Indonesia. Bisnisnya yang sempat collapse selama invasi Jepang dan para pedagangnya menumbuhkan jiwa nasionalismenya untuk benar-benar membantu pemerintahan Indonesia mempertahankan kemerdekaan pasca menyerahnya Jepang ke tangan sekutu.

Lim Sioe Long tercatat aktif memberikan sumbangan obat-obatan, pakaian militer, dan sejata untuk membantu TNI mempertahankan kemerdekaan dari sekutu. Semua dana yang digunakan berasal dari kas dan bisnis pribadinya.

Inilah pintu utama yang membuka Lim Sioe Long berkenalan dengan para petinggi-petinggi militer dan Pak Harto yang saat itu masih merupakan Panglima Kodam Diponegoro.

Lantas begitu lengsernya kekuasaaan Bung Karno, maka Pak Harto dan elit militernya menganggap penting untuk mengangkat konglomerasi pengusaha yang mampu menjadi pilar ekonomi di Indonesia. Kelompok masyarakat Tionghoa pun akhirnya dijadikan pilihan oleh Pak Harto.

Selain untuk membalas budi baik SiaoLong selama upaya mempertahankan kemerdekaan, masyarakat Tionghoa dianggap sebagai kaum terdidik yang telah terlatih untuk menjalankan dunia bisnis di Indonesia saat itu.

Selain itu beredar berbagai isu bahwa masyarakat Tionghoa tidak tertarik akan kedudukan politik sehingga secara tidak langsung upaya Soeharto ini tidak akan membahayakan posisi politiknya. Solusi memakmurkan Indonesia tanpa membuat posisinya rawan tentu menjadi jawaban sempurna bagi Pak Harto.

Tercatat, Lim SiaoLong mendapat kesempatan untuk menjadi pengusaha cengkeh yang merupakan salah satu produk unggulan Indonesia khususnya di Kudus, selain itu menjadi importir tunggal tepung yang saat itu memang belum popular di Indonesia.

Visi bisnisnya yang jauh ke depan membuatnya menjadi importir utama tepung untuk menjadi substitusi beras. Hal ini memang dianggap beberapa pihak yang kontra sebagai pintu awal kerawanan pangan di Indonesia. Akan tetapi dari sanalah kemudian beliau mendirikan PT. Indofood yang kemudian produknya melanglangbuana ke seluruh dunia untuk mewakili Indonesia.

Berikutnya beliau juga terjun ke dunia perbankan sebagai sektor strategis untuk menopang kemajuan perekonomian di Indonesia hingga akhirnya mampu menjadi bank terbesar di Indonesia saat itu.

Masih banyak lagi bisnis yang dipelopori beliau mulai dari yang penuh resiko seperti industri baja hingga industri merakyat yang mampu bertahan sepanjang masa mulai dari kayu lapis, otomotif, dan masih banyak lagi.

Akan tetapi berakhirnya kekuasaan Soeharto memang hampir secara langsung mengakhiri kekuasaan bisnisnya di Indonesia. Tindakan warga yang mengobrak-abrik rumahnya di Jakarta membuatnya mengalami trauma sehingga memilih tinggal di Singapura.

Memang terkadang beliau datang ke Indonesia untuk kunjungan bisnisnya, tetapi tampak jelas bahwa trauma berkelanjutan ini memilihnya untuk lebih berinvestasi di luar negeri. Kini sosok yang penuh kontroversi ini memang telah tutup usia, tetapi spiritnya untuk memajukan perekonomian Indonesia tentu harus tetap dijunjungtinggi oleh generasi muda.

Korean wave, so-called with “Hallyu”, has spread all over the world. Watching from its Korean idol or Korean drama, many people have wanted to visit Korea so much. Recently, Seoul as the capital city of South Korea has ever been called as the Soul of Asia. It becomes the melting pot where traditional and modern stuffs blend together to be such an enormous entity. That is why through this simple writing, I would like to share some spots as “must to visit” place in Seoul. It hopefully will entertain you so much besides the relatively “good looking” man and woman that you could see there. All of the spots that I mentioned below will be really easy to be reached because of the sophisticated transportation system there:

1. Shopping Center (Myeongdong, Dongdaemun, Namdaemun)

First of all, it would be the shopping center because Seoul has been one of the fashion lighthouse in the world. Korean fashion is always one of the first that came out and then will be followed as a global trend. Myeongdong is a “street shops” which is covered by a lot of great brand of fashion. You can find a lot of Japanese and other foreigner since it provides you with a lot of good quality and relatively reachable price.

Second, different from Myeongdong, there are Dongdaemun and Namdaemun which also offer a lot of things but a bit cheaper than Myeongdong since the numbers of shops are much more. Those are the favorite spots for tourists who want to buy souvenir or gifts since the prive is a bit lower than Myeongdong. You have to be able to have the “skill of bargaining” so you can get a cheaper stuff.

2. 2. Han River and National Assembly (Yeoinaru)

Han River is the one of the main river in Korea. it overflows all over the city of Seoul, just like “Ciliwung” in Jakarta. The major difference is that the Han River is terribly clean and nice to watch, but Ciliwung River is definitely dirty and polluted. The park beside this river in Yeoinaru is often full with crowds especially during the weekend for people who want to do picnic, take pictures, cycling, or just getting some fresh airs. Not far from this park, there is National Assembly building which have an awesome design influenced by European way of design.

3. 3.Amusement Park (Everland and Lotteworld)

Everland is actually not located in Seoul, it is located at the outskirt of Seoul city. However, since it is such an interesting outdoor amusement park so I will write it down. With such a big size, Everland is the biggest amusement park there with such a perfect design and theme that change following the season. Right beside of Everland, there is also the biggest waterboom there called “Carribean bay”. If you ever watch one of SNSD & 2PM song, it was shot there. Everland and Carribean bay is managed under the same management so they often give some promotion like discounted coupon or student price coupon.

Lotteworld is the indoor amusement park in Korea. Even if the size was much smaller than Everland, but it is truly worth to visit during the winter since the winter there is really chilling. Therefore the weather will not be a trouble to have fun with friends. To make it simple, Everland is like super big size of Dufan in Jakarta and Lotteworld is like the Trans 7 in Bandung, Indonesia the biggest indoor amusement park there.

4. 4.Gangnam and Bongeunsa Temple

Gangnam is the most advanced area in all over Korea. It provides you with whatever you wish. During the rush hour, it is truly crowded. To make it simple, it’s a bit similar with Shinjuku in Japan during the rush hour. It is famous for its many tall buildings and apartment. If you are lucky, it is really rare you can see Korean idol there. It’s like one of my experience to bump into Big Bang idol group in Apgujeong, Gangnam area. One thing to be noticed, the price of things here are relatively most expensive compared to other area in Seoul because it is full with executives from the top companies of Korea. to be noticed, there is a temple called Bongeunsa which offer Korean style of temple. For a Buddhist believer who can’t go a bit far to Seorakhsan where a great temple is located, this temple can be seen as a great comparison about how the typical Buddhist temple in Korea is. As an addition, this Gangnam region is well known as the heaven for girls to do plastic surgeries. Looking on those surgery center, it feels like looking at hair salon which is neighbor to each other.

5. 5. Gyeongbokdung Palace (Gwanghwamun)

Last but not least, I have introduced some modern spots in Korea, but we also have to see the traditional spots. It is Gyeongbokdung palace which can be found in Seoul. We can see the typical palace of Korean ancient people where the king and his royal family lived hundreds or even thousand years ago. Even there is no more royal family in such a period like this, but this place is still highly preserved for ceremonial place or place where Korean parents teach their children how their culture is. All doesn’t stop there, around this area there are so many amusements that you can see like the great statue of its Sejong King, Yi Sunshin General, or even Chonggyechon stream as some nice spots to take pictures.

Till this time, all I recommend through five points above are just a small part of Korea. It was just a dot from my great memory of four months staying in Korea as an exchange student, as a traveler, as a businessman, and as a foreigner. There are still so many great and nice places that I have not explained above like Seoul Tower, Hongdae, Trick Eye Museum, Busan, and many more. I hope I will have the opportunity of sharing to you guys in another opportunity.

Last but not least, let’s be rich soon so you will also have the chance to enjoy the amusement that I ever had there with all the great friends I ever had from all over the worlds.

I’ll Tell You Why My Stay in Korea is Awesome

It’s last year on October 2011 when I was in Korea for a youth short term program, I got a news from my friend that we are chosen as the delegate of Universitas Indonesia to be exchange students in Ajou University. I have been going to Korea once and I do not know much about Ajou University at that time, but after I did this 4 months program I never regretted what I have chosen. I made a lot of sweet memories, friends, and knowledge during my stay here.

Here in Ajou I experiences some international classes that I never experienced in my home countries. I took three classes which consist of Marketing Management, Taekwondo, and Korean Language 1. Korean language 1 class has helped me a lot to adapt to the life in Korea. It helps me to order food, drinks, and communicate in simple conversations with Korean native people and Ajou students. Once in a week I also take Taekwondo class, it helps me to learn Korean martial arts and somehow getting understand how it affects Korean do in their daily life. Third class that I took is Marketing Management, in this class I got a really great Korean-American teacher. He was really interactive in class and speaking perfect English so it makes me more attracted to learn and know more about Marketing. As the result I really use the library of Ajou to borrow some of marketing and leadership book and it truly enlighten myself of some important soft skills to improve myself.

In my spare time, there are several things that I did. I went to visit some business centers in this country to look for any business opportunity or simply just to look for business partners. Sometimes I also joined some students clubs such as Taekwondo club (Chao Rem), travelling club (like youth hostel), English Café, and some students club concert. I enjoyed it very much to fill my free time. In my outside of class activities, I learnt much more about Korean culture. It makes my life so great and so wonderful. It happens simply because I do not only play around with Indonesian friends, but also with Korean friend and international friends. It opens my eyes about how different we are at some parts, but also in the other parts I learnt that we are same in so many parts too. Those differences will be able to be tackled if we really want to do it and make a global friendship.

Accidentaly Bump into Big Bang

Some friends said that I and my friend was extremely lucky to be able to meet BigBang (a famous K-Pop boyband) only 2 meters in front of us. If you don't know, BigBang is one of the most famous Kpop boyband in Korea with some famous songs that you can try to view on Youtube.com, such as Lies, Haru-Haru (*my favorite one), until the most recent one like Fantastic Baby, Blue, etc, With those popularity, they can be said as top three main boybands in South Korea (*even their concert ticket fee is more expensive than Lady Gaga the global main artist concert in Korea).

So here is the case, it was Friday on April 27th that I and my Indonesian friend had an appointment to meet other friends at Gangnam. Since we were so bored at Ajou dorm, we decided to leave first to have a sightseeing and maybe just randomly walked around Gangnam area, Seoul. We had never been to Apgujeong street before, that is why we went there to see what is so famous there.

At first we are quite shocked, all around the way from the subway station until the main road at Apgujeong is filled with "plastic surgery" advertisement or sometimes plastic surgery clinics being neighbor to each other. We didn't really understand that area, then just randomly walked around.

Till at one of the corner, we saw some van cars. My friend just asked intuitively, could it be an artist here? because most of the time on the tv, the artist would use this kind of car. After that we just laughed over that wild imagination. HA.....HA...HA... Several minutes later when we passed the building, there is some korean boys with a shining hair came out from the building.

I just ignored their presence because i thought: what!!!why do u have to color your hair in such an eyecatching way like that!! then I just skipped and ignoring them. However, my friend was just stuck behind and not moving, she said "it is BigBang, there is TOP!!".

Ooh really? I don't really believe in it until I saw Daesung, one of the members that I can recognize because I ever saw their show of Family Outing before. hahahahaha....finally.... We really wanna have some pictures or signatures from them, but since it happen so spontaneously and we are SHY then we didn't really act in real action to approach them. Yeah, I am a bit "shy" boy (just believe in me!!i am still shy in some occasions.kkk).

That is why, they just passed us and we just saw them from behind coming into the van, while regretting the indecisiveness of taking action toward what is happening. (it was quite funny, my friend keep telling me she regret didn't take picture with them all the time, even after it has passed for 7 hours,,,that's a lot..kkkk).

PS: from this short story, there is a lesson to be learned for me. Don't ever be afraid of making a decisive action. Once you skip the momentum, then you will regret it for the rest of your life. So keep MAKING ACTION of whatever you want from now on!!!! Fulfill your greatest desire whatever it is, it can be becoming rich, having nice cars, travelling all over the world, having a pretty girlfriend (huahahahhaahaha) , or whatever it is.

Lesson Learnt from Steve Jobs Biography: Never be Afraid of Making Mistake

Several weeks ago, since I have so much free time, I decide to borrow a book from Ajou University library. The title is "Icon", at first I don't know that it's about the biography of Steve Jobs. However in the end I really enjoy it a lot, and I cannot stop to read this book till the end.

The image of Steve Job in myself before is always "a great inventor", "a rich entrepreneur", or "full of creativity CEO". All of f them are the best quality of a human being can ever achieve, but finally through this book I learn the most important thing of Steve Jobs that will never be taught on the tv.
I do have to admit that I admire Jobs creativity and visionary view, but beside those great capabilities he had, I much more admire his thought of "never ever be afraid in making mistakes". Mistake is his teacher to be a better person. He have ever been a really arrogant person during his young age, making a lot of scandals, being fired from his own "Apple" company, and even almost goes to bankruptcy related to "NEXT" and "PIXAR" stagnant improvement at the first time.

If I don't read the book, I won't know that once Jobs was a very arrogant person that has no mercy toward people in his office before. Until the lesson learned from his mistake help him to CHANGE AND DEVELOP to be a better person. Moreover his persistence and consistency in doing anything will make him do whatever it is to achieve his goal.

However he can change his bad habit by also using this persistence in positive sides. I finally realized that he is also the same human with us who also ever made mistake. The answer is don't ever be afraid to make decision and do whatever you believe it is. It doesn't matter that it is a good or bad decision in the end. However when you are doing something even if it is a mistake, you will still learn something. So my final words will be: KEEP MAKING ACTION!! don't ever hesitate whether it will end good or bad because doing nothing is worse than making mistake.

Learning Indonesian Language for Foreigner: Beginner Level

Recently, I am having more and more international friends. Since Indonesia is such a beautiful country, I would recommend to visit it someday, and if I have leisure time I would like to be your tour guide in the future, or at least having a dinner together. I am sure I can do that because it's only a matter or time before I am becoming rich, then have a lot of money and free time (hahaha...dreaming!!but I believe in it!!)

Bali, Indonesia: one of the most beautiful place to be visited in the world. I am sure you have heard it!!

Before you visit Indonesia, I will teach some Indonesian basic languages first so you can begin practice from now on. Okay let's begin!!

I guess it is quite easy, because we don't have tenses, just "Subject+Predicate+Object".

When Indonesian meet Indonesian, they will say "hi" or "hello", it's not so much different with English so I am sure that it will not gonna be hard.

Then after that, just say "apa kabar?", it simply means how are you. Actually we doesn't really speak how are you to another indonesian, but just say it and the Indonesian will be smiling back to you.kk

If you meet an Indonesian beautiful girl, just say "kamu cantik" which means "you are beautiful"; then when you meet an Indonesian handsome boy, just say "kamu tampan" which means "you are handsome". I guess it will be a pretty nice way of knowing more about that new friend.kk...Maybe if you are lucky enough, he/she will be your boyfriend/girlfriend.wkkwkwkw..jokesss...

hmm.. and the last part will be saying thank you...Just say "makasih". It is a way of respecting people if you get any help. That's why never hesitate to say that.kk..

South Korea: The Country Where My Story Starts (English Version)

Do u want to visit South Korea?

Let me share u a bit of my story to go to this wonderful country. Believe in yourself, and you will be able to visit wherever you want soon enough.

After several times failed in the selection of variety student exchanges program conducted by the University of Indonesia, it must be admitted that I was disappointed. Almost desperate, I heard that there was another selection to be an exchange student at South Korea, precisely at Ajou University. Indeed, many obstacles that come in the beginning, from the cost of living that must be spent here, the time that is wasted by coming here, hard work to look for sponsorship, and hundreds of technical obstacle to go to South Korea.

However, all of them are paid off completely once I arrived here. Although the temperature in winter was a bit annoying, it still did not deter my spirit to explore various places of interest here. As far as now, most of the time I have here will always be used to try new things and attractions in the Country of Ginseng. Through this short story, I'll try to share a few wonderful experiences that I have.

First, I will start with a little explanation of foods. I think the Korean food here has two characteristics which are "spicy" and "lots of vegetable". If we are eating daily foods here, we would be able to easily find types of foods with "kimchi" (Korea's traditional food of the fermented vegetables). With a slightly spicy taste on the tongue, the food has always been served in every kind of Korean food menu which can be found here. So you could say that "kimchi" is "free" because it is the side dish and you can ask more no matter how much you want it. Sometimes I have difficulties related to my inability to eat spicy food. In addition, since the Koreans like alcohol, so if you come here, definitely you are going to see a lot of alcohol is sold anywhere ranging from beer to soju (Korean alcohol).

Instead of eating the meal, the other thing that I do of course is "studying". To be honest I do not really study here. Since the beginning before arrival, I had declared that this student exchange will be used as much as possible for the sake of "business trip", tourism, and having more friends. The result can be seen that I only took 7 credits this semester, and I have so much free time. It gives me a bunch of leisure time to do anything. That's what I use to meet the main target of my arrival here. So in terms of studying, I just take it easy because the thing I look for here is experience here. Finally, when people asked what my opinion about the experience here. Only one answer will be given: "It is extremely AWESOME!". We attend college life just once, why do not we use it Effectively to enlarge our view. So this is my first post, I am sorry if there are still a lot of mistakes. Setelah berkali-kali gagal lolos dalam berbagai seleksi pertukaran pelajar yang dilakukan oleh Universitas Indonesia, harus diakui bahwa saya memang kecewa. Hampir putus asa, saya mendengar bahwa ada seleksi lain pertukaran pelajar ke Korea Selatan, tepatnya di Ajou University. Memang banyak halangan yang datang pada awalnya, mulai dari besarnya biaya hidup yang harus dikeluarkan di sini, waktu kuliah yang terbuang sia-sia dengan datang ke sini, hingga susahnya mencari sponsor untuk men-“support” saya di sini.

Akan tetapi, semua terbayar tuntas setibanya saya di sini. Walaupun suhu di musim dinginnya terasa sedikit mengganggu, hal tersebut tetap tidak menghalangi semangat saya untuk mengeksplorasi berbagai tempat menarik di sini. Sejau ini, sebagian besar waktu saya selalu digunakan untuk mencoba hal-hal dan tempat wisata baru di negeri Ginseng. Melalui cerita singkat ini, aku akan mencoba sedikit menceritakan pengalaman yang menurutku sangat luar biasa ini.

Pertama, saya akan sedikit membahas mulai dari makanan. Makanan di sini menurutku memiliki dua karakteristik yakni “pedas” dan “banyak sayurnya”. Kalau lagi makan, kita pasti bias dengan gampang menemukan “kimchi” (makanan tradisional Korea dari sayuran yang di-fermentasi). Dengan rasanya yang agak pedas di lidah, makanan ini selalu menjadi pendamping di setiap jenis menu makanan Korea yang dapat ditemukan di sini. Jadi bisa dibilang kalau “kimchi” ini “gratis”. Selain itu, hampir semua makanan di sini juga memiliki karakteristik pedas, terkait hal ini saya terkadang mengalami kesulitan terkait ketidakmampuan saya untuk makan makanan pedas. Di samping itu, berhubung orang Korea suka alkohol, jadi kalau kamu ke sini pasti bakalan ketemu banyak alcohol dijual bebas dimanapun mulai dari bir sampai soju (birnya orang Korea).

Di samping makan, hal lainnya yang saya lakukan tentunya adalah “belajar”. Sejujurnya saya tidak benar-benar belajar di sini. Sejak awal sebelum kedatangan, saya sudah mencanangkan bahwa pertukaran pelajar ini akan saya gunakan sebesar-besarnya untuk kepentingan “business trip”, tourism, and having more friends. Hasilnya terlihat dari saya hanya mengambil 7 SKS semester ini, dan saya punya begitu banyak waktu luang. Itulah yang saya gunakan untuk memenuhi target utama kedatangan saya di sini. Jadi kalau soal belajar, saya sih menjalaninya dengan santai-santai saja karena yang saya cari adalah pengalaman di sini. Untuk lebih detailnya, mungkin temen-temen bisa liat fotonya di facebook. Di sana saya meng-upload banyak sekali pengalaman saya di sini.

Akhir kata, kalau ditanya apa pendapat saya soal pengalaman di sini. Jawabannya hanya satu: “It is extremely AWESOME!!!!”.
