A few weeks ago I headed to the Georgia State Capitol in downtown Atlanta to shoot the first day of the 2013 State Legislature for the second time. It’s a definite change of pace from the small town politikin I’m used to in Athens. The grandiose of the Capitol makes enough pictures by itself.

I spent most of the time focusing on the local Athens representatives.

2012 Friday Night Lights

The 2012 local high school football season is coming to an end with a few teams headed to the playoffs so I figured I would do a select of my favorites from the regular season. It’s finally feeling like football season which is great for nostalgia but horrible for cameras, which tend to turn to blocks of ice.

Wild Rumpas 2012 – Athens,Ga.

It was a wild rumpus indeed.

Halloween is always a good time in Athens. The most of the college kids go to Jacksonville to take part in the worlds largest outdoor cocktail party leaving the townies behind to get decked out and storm the town. A few years back the wild rumpus started and has been growing every year.

UGA Football 2012 Season Update

Here’s a look back at the 2012 UGA football season so far. I’ve took a break from the road games this season sticking to the home turf of Sanford Stadium.

Bulldawg Brawl at the Georgia Theatre

Had a good time with this. Every once in a while a group of UGA amateur boxers get together and beat the crap out of each other at the Georgia Theatre with door sales benefitting local charities.

It’s always dark with interesting lighting. I can usually get by shooting concerts at the Theatre but the lighting is not made for fast swinging action. Still a fun time though. Heres some frames.

From Burma to Georgia – Karen Refugees of Comer

A few weeks ago I worked on a story with colleague Andre Gallant about a group of Karen Refugees that have gone from Burma to Thailand and ended up in Comer, Ga. Andre’s three part series does a far greater job explaining the story that took them from rural Southeast Asia to rural Georgia greater than I could. Part 1, Part 2, Part 3

I plan on following up with Eh Kaw and his family over the coming months. They are an amazing group of people.
