Yellow and White Cat Rag Quilt

This random yellow and white cat rag quilt is a fun print. We made a similar one for our nephew's daughter. We tend to like cats at our house, ok, the kids and I do, Richard not as much. The first cat picture is from years ago; only one of the cats pictured is still alive. The second photo has cats on the quilt on our bed. Cats and quilts just go together.

Purple HST Quilt

This half square triangle quilt is made of mostly purple and gray batiks. The back is a gray batik and it is bound with a purple swirl fabric. This was added to our Etsy Store. It was straight line quilted around the triangles.

Mouse and Star Baby Quilt

This is a fun gender-neutral rag quilt that has stars and mice. It also has some yellow minky and various shades of gray.

This quilt is for sale on our Etsy Store. People may question why we make so many rag quilts, but they are one of the best selling items we make. They also make great gifts.

Turtle Rag Quilt

Red Reunion Quilt

This quilt is made from Reunion Fabric by Sweetwater, and yes we still have more in our stash. This is Richard's favorite line ever and we bought a lot of it.

Dr Suess Quilt

This Dr. Seuss quilt was made primarily using fabric from our existing inventory; however, additional material for the binding was purchased through Etsy.

This baby quilt was made for a cute couple at church who just had their first baby boy.

I found at least enough fabric for one more Dr Suess Quilt when going through our fabric bins.

Playful Dog Quilt

This playful dog quilt was made using leftover fabric from a previous project, along with ombre brown material that matches the backing of our bed quilt. It features paw prints, dog-themed patterns, polka dots, and coordinating solids.

Bright Girl Baby Quilt

This quilt is made using animal print fabric alongside a selection of purple, pink, green, and yellow tones. The reverse side features a vibrant pink fabric and is finished with an attractive striped binding. Striped bindings are among our favorite choices for quilt edging.

This quilt has been in our UFO pile for a while. Richard pieced it, I quilted it. He bound this and several others with request that I blog about them. That is why, we started to blog again after five years of taking a break from blogging, but not quilting. This quilt is available for sale on our Etsy Store

Puppy Dog Rag Quilt

Life Lately

Throughout the past year, there have been several developments in our family. Richard underwent knee replacement surgery on both knees, which has alleviated his quilting-related discomfort. Julia, our youngest daughter, is beginning 8th grade soon. Our only granddaughter, Bella, recently turned six.

Creamsicle Quilt

This orange and cream quilt has sat in a UFO pile for a long time. It is made of various shades of Fossil Fern Fabrics and batiks. It was pieced by Richard and quilted by Tanya. It was recently added to our Etsy page.

It reminds me of a Creamsicle, not to be confused with our cat by the same name.

Dresden Quilt for a Neighbor

This quilt top has been done for a few years. Tanya basted it about a year ago.

She gave up on me on quilting it and decided to do it herself.

It is only the second quilt she has quilted.

If that isn't enough of a shock, she bound it to. She has been practicing on binding pot holders.

She even personalized it with the new babies name and birth year.

Hopefully the new mom enjoys it.

Julia Quilts, Well makes a hotpad and has a B-Day!

Julia has been pestering me to let her make some hot pads for her friends mom. I finally relented this last week and let her do it.

Julia is growing up. Its funny to think 8 years ago she is what caused me to start quilting. I know in the last 4 years I have almost vanished but my little princess is making me make a return.

Julia did not do this all alone. I cut out the squares for her and sewed a few of them together and helped thread the machine. But most of the actually sewing she did.

I even let her Iron. I almost got away with it (Tanya did not know that I let her play with the hot iron) but well the burn on her had gave us away so I got caught.

All in all she did a pretty good job and did not burn the house down and only burnt a small mark into her wrist. It will heal but the memories of her doing this on her own will last forever.

Julia picked all the materials out for these. We are making another few quilts and these were left over squares that she stole for this project.

She even basted the hot pad on her own and pinned it.

She also quilted the hot pad. Don't look too close at the lines as they are not all that strait but all in all it looks good.

I am proud of her she did a fantastic job.

Here is the hot pads after I did the binding on them. She tried to do it but was not having great luck so I finished that part for her.

Today is Julia's B-Day she turned 8. She was really sad that she was not able to have her friends over for a party or go out to dinner like we normally do for Birthdays. We did get her some lunch that we picked up from Cafe Rio that was really good.

She got a pair of skates and lots of other presents but still was some what bummed out as the world tried to cancel her B-day. But lucky for her we did it any way.

I have a 8 month old little grand daughter that we get to baby sit. And while we were at the store a month ago I had to buy her this cute pink little chair. She is finally to the point she can sit up in it.

This is my baby, Baby sitting her niece. They make a good team when we can get them both down for a nap at the same time. With school out because of the virus, she has lots of time to spoil her.

Our little grand baby wants to grow up. Here she is trying to get into a box she stood up all on her own. She is just so cute.

Turquoise Batik Hot pads

Sadly it has been too long since the last time I made a post. I figured it was about time. It has really been a long time since I have done any quilting. I sorta lost my way. Over the last 2 weeks I have done a few smaller hot pad projects and I figure they are a good enough excuse to post and share them.

A lot has happened since I last blogged. Rebecca my 2nd oldest got married, Then had a baby. My wife I am sure will soon share her baby pictures

Last year I lost my job and then got it back. Long story but things are at least ok in that area of my life.

I have also done a little programming and created a site to share stuff on. Its meant to be a site that any one can share their stuff its still a work in progress but if your interested in looking at it here is the link. Granny Square Finnished

Tonight I finished my purple Granny Square Baby Quilt Top. This is made from 2 1/2 inch purple blocks. Originally we bought these colors for Rebecca's wedding quilt but she well has since broken up from that um relationship. But even before the brake up I started this quilt as I love the Granny Squares and I love purple. And well Babies need quilts so hey what better then to make them a quilt. I cant believe that Julia our Baby is now big enough to hold my Baby quilts up for me.

Julia is really starting to be a big helpper in her own right. She insisted on helping me cut all the blocks apart when I sewed the blocks together. We originally did the granny square blocks back in January so its been a full 6 months since these pictures were taken so she has grown up a ton since these pictures. Its amazing how much 6 months changes a kid when she goes from 5 1/2 to 6 years old. The 4 block that are sewn on on the picture just below this line and in the picture on the desk next to Julia are a hand sewing project that Julia decided to do. She wanted to

make a blanket for her cat and dog for her doll house. They are extremely cute. She has hand sewed some of her stuffed animals together and she has even helped me sew a few blocks from time to time on a few quilts here or there when she does not drive dad completely crazy. Not that you would expect a 6 year old to drive dad completely crazy but she does.

I am still looking for those that are interested in trying out my http://craftlovers.net/ to go give it a try. It is a free site to use you can create a user account and share any crafting hobby like quilting, knitting, pottery, wood crafting etc. I am looking for people to try it out and add some items and give me feed back on the user experience. I need to know what makes sense and what does not. Hello, for those that have followed my blog in the past you will most likely be shocked to see a post from me it has been way too long. I have to admit I have been out of touch for a while. The past year has been Crazy at the Healey house. My oldest daughter was engaged. Then she was not. Then she was and then she was not. She has also totaled 2 vehicle's in the last year. Once her fault, one some one some one else fault with a car that she had for less than 6 weeks. Needless to say a run of bad luck for her.

I have done some quilting. I started to make a purple and gray quilt for her wedding and then got distracted making these grannies squares. But all of that got pushed aside. With the wedding off, the desire to finish the quilt is lost and well the project is just sitting on the table in one of those disgusted piles of why did I buy that much purple fabric piles.

Well I do have to say I do love purple, so I do guess I will make great use of the. I do enjoy cutting things up into 2 1/2 inch squares so it will be fun to dice and splice it into them and then turn it into quilts. But then again that is not really why its been sitting in a pile.

In February, we found out that we were expecting, only for it to be short lived. In March, we found out that we were pregnant with twins, only for them to find no heartbeats. Not our first miscarriage, but still hard none the less.

Last April was Tanya's and mine 25 wedding anniversary and to celebrate we went to Arches National Park in Moab Utah. When I was a kid this was one of my family's go to vacation spots. For our first wedding anniversary, I took Tanya there.

Only to find out that the Jeep Safari was held that same weekend and it also rained the entire weekend. Any way she hated it so bad and never got to see the Arches at all and it took me 24 years to get her back to the area. After 3 days there. I think she loves it and can see why I loved it and will come back with me again. Any way after a fantastic weekend, I was on a complete high.

I came home from vacation and went back into work the following Tuesday morning and to my total amazement got let go from my job after working for the same company for 11 years. Needless to say this ended the high from my weekend and sent my life into a tail spin and I have spent the last couple months reevaluating what I find important in life.

The funny thing is that it only took my previous company 8 days after they let me go to realize that they did not know what I did. They contracted with me to fix a problem with their system. This happened a time or 2 more, until 3 weeks later, I was back working full time as a contractor for them. I am no longer a "Full Time" employee for the company and I work from home, but I still do the same job and well I get paid more money as a contractor then I got paid as a salary employee. Though I do have to pay the Cobra insurance which at $1500 a month, about made my mouth drop. Though now I have to figure out how to pay my own taxes at the end of the year, which is going to suck. I have no paid vacations or sick pay or any thing of the like, but well my commute to work is great. I walk across the hall and I get to see my wife and kids a lot more.

Speaking of the kids Julia graduated as they say from kindergarten this year. My baby is growing up and getting big. As part of my seeing the world in a new light I have decided that I need to get serious with the other big love of my life and that is programming. I am a programmer by trade, but my job has sorta slowly lead me away from truly programming and I am more an analyst and trouble shooter now. So to learn my skills and polish up my skills I have decided to build a new site and learn better my trade of programming. For those that know anything about programming I program in C# .NET using MVC which is a web development language.

Any way I have created a website called http://craftlovers.net/ this site is a place where I can show off my quilts. But not only can I show off my quilts the design of the site is that others can also showoff their stuff as well. What I would like for you my friends to do is go give my site a test drive. You can go look at the items already listed on it. If you desire you can Create a "Company" which is just a profile that you list your own items under and then add your own inventory to the site. The site is intended for any kind of craft or art. The above picture is a picture my Daughter Julia wanted to add to my site. She tells me it is for sell for 6$ its an original art work by Julia. Story Book Quilts

This quilt top was done by Tanya. It has fabric from the story book line, as well as some additional yellows.

The back of the quilt is yellow cotton from Kona.

The next quilt top is a peach 9 patch also from story book line.

The back of the quilt is off white minky. Both of these quilts were made for a lady Tanya went to high school with. When we had Julia in our late 30's early 40's Tanya decided to make a quilt for everybody her age that she went to high school with that had a baby from that point. There were only 49 people in her class and not many have babies in their forties. She had twin girls at age 43. This is only the 3 rd quilt we have given to former classmates.

Triangle Quilt out of Bungle Jungle

We are alive and have been quilting, we just haven't been blogging. We have posted several pictures to Instagram, and a few to Facebook. You are probably going to get overwhelmed with finishes in the next little bit, but not as many work in project posts.

This quilt top is made completely from our stash. It is from the fabric line Bungle Jungle. We did have to buy some gray fabric for back. It was made in September of this year for a baby shower. It was made for somebody from churches new baby boy.

These triangles were cut 2-3 years ago. We did a scrappy binding with leftover fabric. The couple we gave the quilt to love it. They have posted several pictures of their son on this quilt on their Instagram pages.

Does it make you feel better for someone to display your quilt or for them to use it? We like it when they use the quilt.

Yellow and Gray Scrappy Quilt

This is the first of two gray and yellow quilts. This is the dark version. We have a light gray version in the to be quilted pile.

The back of the quilt is a gray minky. I love how the striped binding coordinates so well.

Pinwheel Quilt

This quilt has been finished for probably 7 months now and has never had its picture taken until now. This was an all from stash quilt.

The back of the quilt is a gray minky. We have a lot of gray and off white minky, Tanya accidentally ordered twice what she wanted last year. So a lot of backs of quilts are going to be minky for a while.
