Handyman tips on easing sticky door and window locks.

Handyman tips on easing sticky door and window locks.

We have all found at one time or other a door or window that will not lock.

There are a few resons why but for the quick resolve and a little maintenace you will be able to help ease the lock

First check out the lock turn the key when the door/window is open, does the mechanism work ?

If this is a the case then look toward the catch, it may of become free so that it no longer lines up with the Main body. get yourself and tighten up the screws but not too much.

By some graphite powder if you have none find a pencil and cover the key and moving parts of the lock with the graphite gentle rub/clean off excess being careful not to clean it all away.

reinsert the key indto the lock several times applying the graphite , you are hoping to deposit some graphite within the mechanism.

This should of freed up the lock.

If this has not look at the hinges and apply a little oil.
