The ad is by Bartle Bogle Hegarty and is very slick.

I wonder if there will be a Barclaycard Rollercoaster iPhone Application to follow up the branded Waterslide app which was downloaded over 9.8 million times. Based on that phenomenal success I think I'd be more surprised if there wasn't one.

I'm struggling to find much control from Barclays over the other aspects of the Social Media campaign. There are a few groupd on Facebook celebrating the waterslide but it isn't clear if any are official, and I can't find the new ad, which I took from Brand Republic, on You Tube. I suspect they may be ready today ahead of Sunday's launch.

If you didn't know that, you lost touch with pop music in 2009 and need to have a word with yourself.

The product, if you will, is the Yahoo! Yodelizer. It's born out of the Y!OU! ad campaign, below, which had a bit of a jingle at the end, basically belting out the brand name:

Now you can have a go at making a better Yahoo! 'yodel' with the Yahoo! Yodelizer. It's along the same lines as things like the iDaft, which is an iPhone app as well as online.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 319px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bCtEVvhSV3A/S0x9USor2II/AAAAAAAAAqs/M0qwp_JVEe4/s400/yodelizer2.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425849438627944578" />

The Yodelizer has a wide range of 'Ya' and 'Hoo' sounds, some of which are pretty meek, some pretty wild. Make your own Yahoo! Yodel and then share it via the usual channels. I've seen little of either but I did catch a glimpse of a replay of the PDC World Championship final when I was at the gym the other day.

The only reason I mention this is, if you've seen much in the way of darts, there's a chap called Bobby George who is a player turned pundit. He's very much of the Big Ron Atkinson school of punditry, a caricature who talks in riddles. He's even got his own bit on the BBC Sport website. His main 'thing' is that he is literally dripping in gold, a sort of Cockney Mr T if you will.

Big Ron - May or may not have cashed in his gold

During the Sky coverage, I saw an ad for the increasingly popular phenomenon of sending your gold off in exchange for cash. It's a sort of pen pal pawn shop, if you will. Guess who was the star of the ad?

This is a different, and considerably less interesting, angle from Cash 4 Gold in the US, where they took the combination of bling and destitution and asked Ed McMahon (no, me neither) and MC Hammer to send themselves up. They also aimed a bit higher with an ad in the famed Superbowl slot.

However, the juxtaposition of an ad, starring a larger than life darts personality, pushing a service for those who may have random bits of gold knocking about and have fallen on hard times, during a darts event, in the middle of the afternoon is pretty damn good targeting, if you ask me.

It seems a pretty appropriate title given the leap of faith that was required to plump for the meerkat idea in the first place.

To compare meerkats, click here.

It combines what appears to be a 3D TV creative with a strong and comprehensive online presence which looks like including everyone's favourite new technology, Augmented Reality.

The first port of call is the excellently named Goo Tube. There have been a number of executions of the egg-centric ads, which were tweaked cleverly for the Twisted bars. The new ad shows the gala premiere of Creme Egg Season.

There's also a counter to the end of the Creme Egg Season on the site. Cadbury's pushed the Wispa Gold as a limited period product and got a lot of buzz around it. Creme Eggs are limited every year, so there's mileage in this.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 76px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bCtEVvhSV3A/S0UKEeDPxnI/AAAAAAAAAp0/Vnl49laHj4Q/s400/Cadbury+Creme+Egg+%7C+Your+Country+Needs+Goo_1262814108721.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423752398140065394" />

The theme of the site is 'Your Country Needs Goo', and there's an animated comic strip about a lost batch of Creme Eggs that have to be recovered before April 4th.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 187px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bCtEVvhSV3A/S0UKuTbuPmI/AAAAAAAAAp8/S9T6kFHoBSQ/s400/Cadbury+Creme+Egg+%7C+Your+Country+Needs+Goo_1262814139580.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423753116844441186" />

There is a hint of an online game where finding eggs with codes unlocks prizes on the Creme Egg site, as can codes on actual eggs if I'm understanding the rules below correctly:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 232px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bCtEVvhSV3A/S0ULKX9WtPI/AAAAAAAAAqE/n-mmr8hi78E/s400/Cadbury+Creme+Egg+%7C+Your+Country+Needs+Goo+%7C+How+to+Play_1262814235996.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423753599095583986" />

There's a playable Great Eggscape game and a downloadable mobile game, but the most exciting aspects of this are yet to be revealed, but are teased on the Creme Egg Site. The now obligatory Creme Egg iPhone Application, if the games on the site are anything to go by, should be pretty slick.

The intriguing 'Egg-mented Reality' could be a big talking point. I've already talked this week about the Adidas Augmented Reality Trainers and, athough it's not as easy to see how the Creme Egg Augmented Reality might work at this stage, predictions that 2010 would be the year of Augmented Reality are certainly looking a good bet at this stage.

HT to Digital Examples.

If it's real and I get to see one in action, it would rival the most impressive things I've been as an adult.

It's a kick-ass helicopter, or quadricopter to give it its proper name, that is controlled via an iPhone or iPod Touch. Well, Louise does.

Jamie is popular with the fairer sex and seems like a good bloke, but not necessarily that good a flight companion if you believe this article last June in The Sun.

"Travel with Thomas Cook, especially if you're banned from other airlines"

Is this ideal for a holiday company? Do Thomas Cook not do holidays to the sort of destination, for the sort of people, Redknapp and Gray were allegedly disparaging?

I appreciate this isn't the biggest scandal of all time, but it was something, as a football fan who also manages to inhale a load of useless information, I instantly associated with Redknapp on seeing him reclining in a ludicrously roomy flight seat.

Still, at least he isn't whoring around the whole family connection to several different advertisers.

I don't want to make it seem like the age-old use of a famous face to generate a bit of reflected glory for your brand has suddenly become a bad thing, but the increasing glare of the media has managed to bring controversy to brands associated with big names like Kate Moss (which was always a risk, to be fair), Thierry Henry (perhaps unfairly) and even, and most spectacularly, the most bankable Brand Ambassador Tiger Woods (a good couple of months for the Gillette Marketing Department).

Just don't get me started on Kerry Katona...

This is quite exciting news.

I'd been umming and ahhing over whether to re-introduce trainer-themed content to this blog in an effort to give myself more to write about and create momentum. Adidas Originals have made the decision for me, though, and my first post of 2010 is about trainers, but also about one of the hottest predicted trends of 2010, Augmented Reality.

Basically Adidas have turned the humble sneaker into an Augmented Reality device. A code embedded in the tongue, when used through a webcam on the Adidas site, will create a virtual 3D neighbourhood where your trainer should be.

Adidas Augmented Reality Trainers

Without being able to see what the actual sneaker looks like, which is of course pretty important if you want to spend between $65 and $95 on a pair, this looks quite cool even if it had no functionality, just as a curiosity or a value-add.

Consider that there will be games introduced in the next few months, developed by xForm, that will allow you to use these environments as a gaming platform, and it becomes a different matter.

Un-Augmented Reality - A Pair of Trainers

As if I needed an excuse to collect more different pairs of Adidas Originals (I bought the pair above today while on a trip to buy a gift for my girlfriend), the potential for different Augmented reality environments within different models, allowing for varying gaming experiences, makes for quite a unique sell.

There is a danger that every product will carry an Augmented reality code, that there will be a novelty use, and that we will ultimately tire of it simply being something clever rather than something useful. The pace of development, particularly in it being delivered to the consumer, is strong, however, and I can envisage a lot of posts in 2010 detailing far less 'showy' applications of AR.

The news bit of this was nicked off Net Imperative

They continue to be conversational, and will no doubt be active during the show chatting away and making extensive use of the 'official hashtag' #imacelebrity.

Now they've extended their Twitter involvement into this year's TV show, updating their Bio to read:

The official I'm A Celebrity...Twitter feed. @replies may be used on I'm A Celebrity...NOW on ITV2. Full terms at www.itv.com/terms

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bCtEVvhSV3A/SvxSYg33zWI/AAAAAAAAAo4/I-9RSOkEYh4/s400/twittercelebrity.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403284234032368994" />

Incidentally the I'm a Celebrity Twitter profile features two things I haven't noticed before: Terms and conditions (as in the Bio) relating to its use, which seems very forward-thinking; and sponsorship, from Iceland, who I assume have renewed the deal they had last year.

Extending out to Twibbon is a good idea which has not been done on an official basis by I'm a Celebrity's main rival Big Brother. Several causes were added by different users during the Big Brother series just gone, but none of them gained much traction except the 'Save Big Brother' cause which has 50 supporters.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 351px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_bCtEVvhSV3A/SvxR2A9OvsI/AAAAAAAAAoo/5ksqfuZkj8E/s400/twibbonbigbro.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403283641349357250" />

There's also the obligatory Facebook fan page which is cross-promoting with the Twitter profile and the show's homepage.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bCtEVvhSV3A/SvxTLNHtzrI/AAAAAAAAApA/cLUGRkNdeSA/s400/fecebookceleb.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403285104903442098" />

To be perfectly honest I don't think I'll be watching this year's show, although I did say that last year. There's no Dani Behr for a start, and our heating has broken so I'm likely to be spending as little time as possible at home until it's fixed, which will necessitate someone returning my phone calls (hello British Gas I'm talking to you). I'm more of a Big Brother man anyway, despite their relative infancy against I'm A Celebrity in being officially social.

It's an issue of Freeway magazine hand-drawn in Bic pens.

Bic pens can't be the easiest thing to promote creatively, but this is beautiful. I believe, however, it may feature adjacent to the word 'painstaking' in the dictionary.

This is the second piece of work I've seen from South America recently that I have really liked, after the Axe Day and Night campaign. In it, Stewie Griffin uses Twitter on his laptop, with Brian the family dog shoe-horning in a load of features he could be using.

I'm a fan of Family Guy, but this is a bit out of kilter with the general tone of the show, and is also alleged to be a re-dubbed scene that was already used in a previous episode.

I can't vouch for the veracity of this clip, and it seems pretty lazy and tacked-on to be a genuine Microsoft endorsement, whether they followed it through or not. Having said that, they enlisted one of my favourite comedians, Jerry Seinfeld, a year or so ago and that was widely derided.

I checked out the stareatthegoat.com site out of interest, and guess what.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 201px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bCtEVvhSV3A/SvCzY7Nis5I/AAAAAAAAAn8/0XxzrBhL3qY/s400/goat.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400013194009949074" />

Yep, it's a crazy, staring goat. It's actually a LoveFilm microsite, although I'm not sure of the connection between the DVD rental company and a cinema release, at this stage. Unless they imagine it's going to be a slow burner.

Stareatthegoat.com also links to the Facebook Fan Page, which has a total of 163 fans. Not brilliant testament to tremendous engagement with the ad, but it is absolutely bursting with content and even demonstrating wider social listening by highlighting things like that Queen Rania of Jordan had tweeted to her over 1 million followers about loving the film, and various other bits of PR, interviews, clips and the like.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 178px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_bCtEVvhSV3A/SvC0maT63pI/AAAAAAAAAoE/nsxWmxr-3xM/s400/Twitter+:+Rania+Al+Abdullah:+Back+home,+rewarded+myself+..._1257288757270.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400014525208125074" />

There's also a Twitter profile, @stareatgoats, tweeting the same sort of stuff as is on the Facebook fan page, and retweeting the odd comment. Not especially conversational, which might explain the fact it's following far more people than are following it.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 180px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_bCtEVvhSV3A/SvC2XCwiVjI/AAAAAAAAAoM/QJlwvkWMMtQ/s400/MenWhoStareAtGoats+(stareatgoats)+on+Twitter_1257289174685.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400016460210918962" />

The main site www.themenwhostareatgoatsmovie.com is the movie's main site, all slick and featuring downloads, trailers, even a couple of mind-bending games.

There's also, and it may not be official but it doesn't seem entirely personal, Stareatgoats.com. It is a two-post blog done on Wordpress.

It's intended to explain more about the story behind the movie, and is written in a bloggy style. There's an introductory post that emphasises the role of spoonbender extraordinaire Uri Geller in the inspiration for the book. There's a second post, posted on the same day at the end of September, about Telekinesis, which is related to the theme of the film. The post links to You Tube videos and encourages you to look into telekinesis yourself. And that's it. It also mentions how funny the film is, aside from Ewan McGregor's accent. Just self-effacing enough to make me think it's designed to catch a bit of buzz. The url is my main clue, though.

There's no You Tube channel from what I can find, although there is some LoveFilm PPC activity on You Tube to direct to that crazy goat again.

I'm quite excited by the film, and can't be the only one. I think all the activity has been well branded, and I've seen the branding for a while now. It's difficult for films to engage without forcing things, and this seems to have made an attempt without forcing things. Someone has obviously put some time in, and if you want information about the film, there is no shortage of official resource, wherever you look.

One of the reasons she has endured for so long has been continued re-invention and innovation, and they're now going back to the 80s for their latest twist.

Debbie Harry Barbie - Glass Heart not included

Debbie Harry and Cyndi Lauper strike me as pretty much the opposite of Barbie from their heyday, but these things mellow with age. It's good for a brand when someone who may previously have been considered contrary comes on board even in a small way. Hence Debbie Harry Barbie and cyndi Lauper Barbie, part of the Ladies of the 80s Barbie range. It also includes someone called Joan Jett, who I am less familiar with but looks like Suzi Quattro.

Lego is the main toy brand from my youth, and it amazes me to see some of the applications they continue to find for the brand, recently encompassing a Lego Camera, Lego iPod speaker and Lego MP3 player.

Here's the Cyndi Lauper Barbie. The description on Entertainment Earth where you can reserve them for $34.99 (they're out at the end of the year/ start of next year) uses the word 'spunky' several times. It made me giggle because I am a child.

Cyndi Lauper Barbie - 'Spunky'

HT Retro to Go.

Bent himself took a break but came back with a vengeance and started a follower race with a journalist, who won.

Darren Bent's diplomatic transfer negotiations

Along these lines, Bent recently Tweeted an 'Important Announcement' - that his 20,000th follower would receive a special prize. Might I be the one to point out, Darren, that you are over 5,000 followers short of this target, and that people who might care about the prize are likely to wait until you're a bit nearer the goal (no pun intended) in order to stand a chance of winning.

Darren preaches to the crowd

Fellow North East footballer Jozy Altidore also got himself into a bit of bother when he let slip that he had been dropped from the Hull City team because he showed up late, incurring the wrath of his manager Phil Brown. Given the content of the majority of footballers' Tweets, and their capacity to cause strife, I'd say Twitter as sporting self-promotion has a limited shelf life.
