...and you need to Unfreeze a channel, let Cubase keep the old freeze files rather than delete them.

The most obvious reason would be that if you need to go back to an earlier revision of a track, and the channel was previously frozen, you still have that original freeze file (which just saves some time). The reason I bring this up right now is due to potential errors. We're currently finishing mixing, and today we're working on one of the first tracks we wrote and recorded for the album... However, since then, after a few computer issues, I've ended up deleting a few older VSTis that I never used - or so I thought. So, up popped the track alonside a nice big error message calling me an idiot for thinking I still had this archaic instrument in the VST folder.

The problem? It was actually quite an important part. But, thanks to the Freeze folder, there it was in all its 32Bit Audio Glory (yup, that surprised me too...). One quick copy later, and some judicious slicing and dicing with the editing tools, and the part is resurrected and mixed.

Handy. And phew. This has probably saved me a couple of hours (minus the five minutes to type this up :)).

And I apologize if this is 1) Old News or 2) No News.

There's just a tiny little moment of calm at Riddler Towers today... the next video is out ('I Send You All My Love' - pasted in at the bottom if you'd like a look), we've started to raise some money for the British Heart Foundation (and if you like that video, please do drop a couple of quid in over on our Just Giving page - it's for a very good cause), and we've managed to blag a few new little bits of Hardware to finish off the final mixes for the album (much more on that later - but Mastering has begun).

The trip to London was extraordinary. Personally, I haven't actually had my shame, embarrassment or fear glands surgically removed1, so I must admit I approached the whole event with a serious sense of foreboding; the early start didn't help, nor did the freezing weather. But once Hearted-up and out on the streets of the capital (fuelled by serious amounts of Coffee), I must admit that people were, almost universally, utterly supportive and friendly. There were some odd moments - rounding a corner into 200 French Students wondering around near the South Bank (they were lovely), the wonder across Tower Bridge with coaches stopping to let passengers take photos, people's faces on the Tube as they spotted us waiting on platforms (really, are four people dressed up in giant hearts that strange in London?), and becoming a small tourist attraction beneath Eros on Piccadilly Circus (OK, OK, Anteros ;)).

All in all, an amazing day. The edits from VoF were done shockingly quickly (there was virtually no time to finish up), and the team were fabulous. Ultimately, a huge thank you to Anneliese (obviously), Pippa, Jamie, Jim (seriously, that man loves Lycra), Sarah, and in Wales, Alex, the lovely people at the London Underground, and the people at Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Westminster Councils for helping us get that day done.  There's a ton of footage that didn't make the final release, and you never know, that might get edited into something interesting as well (although, of course, some of it's un-releasable ;) - that's the stuff I'll try and stick up here first).

By my guess,  we're in the last week or two before everything is with mastering.  It's a really wonderful feeling,  but there's so much else to finish...  and something else to released next week as well...  if all goes to plan o_0. 

Now,  am I allowed to sleep,  or has that been vetoed too? ;)

Hills and Valleys - you were wonderful :). 

Alongside finishing up the album, remixes, and various other projects that go alongside current work, we've been busy shooting sections for three other music videos (if you haven't caught the first - Bitch of a Glitch - it's here on YouTube if you fancy a gander). It gets complicated, quickly, especially when you're not sure which video you're working on on a particular day - if anyone knows of a simple checklist/calendar style solution for this kind of work, I'd be grateful to know - Google Calendar is fantastic, but not up to a job like this :)).

We've put some 'censored' preview clips of our time in The Valleys up on our Facebook Page, and a couple of extra photos on our own website, but I think this bit of downtime footage on our second last night in Wales may sum it all up...

We miss Wales already... perhaps back for New Year.

...with a bit of a trip up to Colwyn Bay. Bitterly cold and windy, yes, but we managed to avoid the rain at our shoot, and sit on the sea front drinking tea, eating chips. Pretty perfect, really. Mind you, for late October, it was absolutely gorgeous.  Trying to find a way I can sneak some shots of the shoot in, but to be honest, no one wants to give anything away... it's... worrying and slightly insane.

Mind you, it intrigued the walkers... or possibly scared them. And lead to Liese getting mini-papped ;).

Day One done and dusted. After the awesome winds of the night before, and prior to doing any filming/music/art, we took yesterday off to do a bit of walking around, hiking up what I would call a mountain, but what any perfectly healthy person would call a reasonably steep hill (actually, it was a hike and a half for us all :)). Blisteringly wonderful, windy, wearisome... and other 'w's.

But today, the portable studio is set up, some cameras have appeared, batteries are being charged, and I'm already wearing something utterly indelicate and inappropriate for the weather. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

So, in the meantime -  few quick panos from yesterday - a couple of errors in some of them, but that'll be fixed when we get home, most likely :).

Wales is lovely... so far ;)
