Honda continues to incorporate technological advances on their bikes. This year the new Combined ABS, included for the first time in sportbikes, like the 2009 CBR 600R and 2009 CBR 1000 RR, is one of the new features that differentiates Honda sportbikes from the other manufacturers.

Now Honda has announced another advancement, called DSG for “Direct Shift Gearbox”. Utilized for years in Formula 1 caras, and now in a few high end sportcars. It´s a gearbox with two clutches and electronically assisted, in which the gearbox is divided in two, so there is no ´dip´ and aceleration is continuos while shifting. It´s more complicated than a normal gearbox, and all this mechanism will be assisted by servo motors, but in some cases, Honda´s way is later followed by others.

Probably the first stret bike with this DSG gearbox, the 2010 Concept V4.
<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/RidersNews/~4/gRdKTA4lcSE" height="1" width="1" />

Remeber the spectacular Honda Concept V4 recently presented in Intermot? Well, Honda has announced, in view of the great reception of this concept around the world, and the renovated and creative image this model has created for Honda, which is being critiziced ultimately in this respect, that the Concept V4 will be the base for a production bike to arrive at the dealers in 2010.

2010 is very close, but we think Honda can make it. It has the technica, but most important, the enthusiasm to start the new decade with a revolution in bikes.

How much of the concept will be traduced to a road bike remains to be seen, but we should get am advance in 2009 motorcycle saloons. Maybe the VFR designation will be used, and the next evolution of the VFR 2010 could well be based on the Concept V4. Luckily, the wait won't be long!
<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/RidersNews/~4/qZIshtki68o" height="1" width="1" />

Another of the concept bikes presented at EICMA 2009, in Milan, Italy, the past week, was this Husqvarna SMQ, the first road bike from Husqvarna in it's history, probably pointing in a new direction for the manufacturer.

A radical design that causes a love or hate reaction, nonetheless, the 450cc single mono engine from the BMW G450X, combined with minimal weight, suggestes this scrambler/trail/supermoto bike would be fun. Notice the radiator, goes straight next to the headlight!
<xhtml:img xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/RidersNews/~4/26L8ooedfkI" height="1" width="1" />
