Big news for PC Gaming Fans. After almost 30 years away, EA has announced College Football ’27 is coming to the PC!

I remember when the site I ran with Craig Tompkins (the still going Operation Sports but I’m not affiliated) started a newsletter in 1998 breaking the news that NCAA College Football would not be released for PC anymore. That was the super-secret story that I found out from confirmed sources. No one believed me…but I digress.

Anyway, it’s public news now that it will be released in less than a month for PC…and it’s included in EA Play Pro for the PC — meaning for the annual fee pays for itself if you are a sports gamer!

For $120 a year you get all the EA games. So right with FC 27, Madden 27 and College Football ’27, you’ve paid for your annual membership. In this world there aren’t many good things these days, so pick this up while you can!

Stephen Totillo’s Game File has an interview with the CEO of Take Two Interactive and he asked about some sports games, specifically if they would ever do another MLB game. Basically the answer was no because TT lost so much money on it.

This makes me wonder: Does Sony make money on their game? It’s a game that’s a lot of fun, but like many sports games it kind of feels like they have plateaued.

Is anyone here playing any sports games these days?

I’ve been playing NBA Showtime on the N64 (via Analogue 3D). I guess I like living in the past. Maybe it’s because I’m turning 55 and there’s much more fun in the past then there will be in the future.

So, I ended up getting a new car 2 weeks ago and while the process sucked, I ended up with a car that I’m incredibly happy with.

The day after I posted, I got a notification from a different dealership about a car I had looked at originally and ended up leasing a 2024 Mustang Mach-E about 5 minutes from my house.

Never thought I would lease a car, but it just ended up being a great deal and by the time I’m done with the lease, it’ll be cheaper to buy it out than if I paid cash for the whole thing up front.

I don’t think I’ve ever had this much fun driving a car. While it’s not a “true” Mustang, I just love it (and the Mrs does too.)

My dad passed away one year ago and I miss him all the time.

Each time I watch a movie, that I’m sure he would have liked, I think about him. Each week that I go to pub trivia, I think about how many of the useless facts that I know are due to how much time we spent together collecting that knowledge. When I hear a joke, I think about him because of his laugh and how much I enjoyed hearing him laugh with me.

And from time to time, I listen to voicemails that he left me so I can hear his voice say, “Hey, Glen!” when he called. Honestly, one of my favorite things is that his voice still pops into my head, and when I think of him, I “hear” how he always seemed (and I’m sure was) so happy to hear from me and talk to me.

So, now when I see stories like this come along, it just makes me frustrated and angry.

The thought of trying to end grief is just so wrong to me. Dealing with the things that come up in our lives helps define who we are, and while they may be painful and difficult, blocking yourself off from them does you great harm in the future. The last few years of my life have forced me and my family to deal with so much pain and so many challenges, and while they weren’t easy and some of them still hurt, they are part of who I am and I don’t want to change that.

So, I will take this day (along with many others in the future) to think about my dad and the wonderful father-figure and person that he was. I’ll talk with my Mom about him and then share a private toast with him when the time is right.

Watching the Brewers lose, yet again, in the playoffs has become an almost annual ritual for me and my friends. This year, a few of us sat in my neighbors driveway and (for yet another year) we thought we might watch Milwaukee win a series and were punched in the gut and watched them lose the game in the 9th inning.

While it sucked that they lost in the playoffs (yet again,) it’s just become such a familiar feeling that it didn’t bother me as much as other losses in the past decade. The loss to the Dodgers in 2018 really hurt, because that Brewers team was so damn good and it just felt built for a WS appearance. This season was such a surprise because they defied all expectations to win the division by 10 games.

Still, it’s never fun to watch your team lose in the playoffs but come next March the team will almost be the same as this year and while they’re sure to lose Adames at short, hopefully they will have a healthy-ish Yelich and Brandon Woodruff and might make another playoff run. With a budget like they have and with the size of the market that they play in, that’s about the best we can hope for.

Sigh… on to hockey season.
