Una cittadina piovosa mai baciata dal sole, due amanti ed una guerra pronta a dividerli: ci sono tutte le condizioni per qualificare la pellicola come un classico melò, se Jacques Demy, pur ricalcandone gli stilemi, non ne confutasse il senso in modo da dar vita ad una pellicola del tutto personale sia nelle tematiche che nello stile; suo esordio nella commedia
