Thousands of anti-migrant protesters march in South Africa amid heavy police presence:

Thousands of people have marched in South Africa's main cities to demand that all undocumented migrants leave the country.

Police officers - backed by private security guards - have been deployed because of fears that protests could turn violent. Anti-migrant groups had set Tuesday as the deadline for undocumented migrants to leave.

Many foreigners have already fled to escape violence and intimidation. South African police say 25,000 have been repatriated so far. Most are from other African countries.

One undocumented Malawian told the BBC he was "happy to be going back" but "heartbroken" to be leaving behind four young children.

The Ministry of Police said the protests had largely been peaceful across the country, with isolated incidents of looting.

However Police Minister Firoz Cachalia confirmed that the army was deployed "on a contingency basis" in parts of Johannesburg as well as Durban.

Police also confirmed the arrest of three people in Hillbrow, a suburb in Johannesburg with a high migrant population, after two people were injured during protests.

According to police, the trio "opened fire at protesters who were passing through the street" and the marchers retaliated by "torching the suspects' vehicle". Among the injured was a 17-year-old.

Some protesters threw bricks, breaking the windows of some homes in Yeoville, another suburb where many African migrants live.

Shops in the city centre were closed, while police visibility is high on major streets.

In a neighbourhood in Germiston, about 15km (nine miles) from Johannesburg, demonstrators went to homes, evicting residents they suspected were foreign nationals and handing them over to police officers, insisting they check their documentation, local media report.

Police said they had arrested five people for the alleged looting of a foreign-owned shop in Johannesburg's biggest township, Soweto.

About 10 people were also arrested for looting in KwaZulu-Natal province, while a woman was arrested for assaulting a police officer and a man for "intimidation" following reports of a foreign national being beaten up, police said.

Businesses in central Durban, the main city in the province, were also shut.

Protesters handed over a memorandum listing their demands to government officials in Durban and Johannesburg.

The leader of anti-migrant group March and March, Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, said they would protest every Thursday for the next six months to force the government to "get rid of" undocumented migrants who were still in South Africa.

A demonstrator - who is part of another anti-migrant group, Operation Dudula - told the BBC they would "push the police" to arrest foreigners who are not legally in the country.

President Cyril Ramaphosa met some of the protest leaders on the eve of Tuesday's marches to defuse tensions.

He has repeatedly warned demonstrators to act peacefully, while also accepting the need for immigration reforms. --->READ MORE HERE

What is the West waiting for?

What has been called ‘possibly the biggest mass migration story you have never heard of’ might be just weeks away from reaching boiling point.
Over the last month, illegal aliens in South Africa have experienced a range of street violence from resentful locals, including murders. Stick- and whip-carrying members of groups and political parties like Operation Dudula (meaning “to force out”) have reportedly engaged in door-to-door intimidation and on-street demands for proof of nationality, on top of conventional public protests. Around the fourth such anti-migrant flare up in two decades in South Africa, thousands of victims, mostly from Ghana, Nigeria, Malawi and Mozambique, have voluntarily departed home as a result, many apparently responding to a June 30th-deadline set by groups like Dudula to get out of the country.

Perhaps most striking, at least for readers of this site, has been the South African government’s response. Instead of the denial, ridicule, new anti-protest laws or uphelpful allegations of xenophobia, which people of the West would usually hear, President Cyril Ramaphosa of Nelson Mandela’s African National Congress party stated those on the street expressing their concerns “deserve to be heard, and they deserve to be addressed.” Those frustrated in the poor townships about unregistered “spaza” shops, or small grocers run by illegal aliens, for instance, also deserved to be listened to. He then publicly introduced a raft of new reforms, many of which, if forcefully implemented, would go far in dealing with the country’s illegal alien problem, including:

Prison sentences for employers hiring illegal workers;

Stamping out identity theft by requiring biometric data registration;

Speedier deportations by closing loopholes, etc.;

Playing tougher with source countries.

Elsewhere, he has stated that he wants South Africa to redraft its United Nation commitments against deporting refugees (the so-called principle of non-refoulement under immigration law); something that is quite a move for a long-time darling of the UN and affectionately called the “Rainbow Nation.”

Compare this with the recent filmed event in Northern Ireland of a Sudanese national (a “fast-tracked” refugee, it turned out, who merely had to fill out a 10-page form) attempting to behead a man with learning problems in the middle of the street—It’s since been reported the victim was blinded as a result of the unprovoked attack. Like the mainland UK, similar and increasingly common occurrences in Northern Ireland (as well as the Irish Republic) have led to street protest as well as violence, all of which was met with your typical elite performative outrage, a swift crackdown on protesters, and without even a voiced contemplation of immigration reform. As one UK commentator—and the source of my opening paraphrase— recently articulated well, after the charge against the Sudanese attacker was made: “Political leaders condemned the violence that followed. Yet if condemnation is the only response leaders have after such incidents, the public will increasingly sense that official institutions are more comfortable denouncing the reaction than confronting the conditions that produced it.”
This does not seem to be happening in South Africa, where the violence against illegal immigrants (mostly visa-overstayers, not border-invaders) has been far, far worse, and spurred on by economic pressures, not heinously violent, migrant crime.

The South African far-left, however, has linked black anti-illegal alien violence generally to something called “Afrophobia”, which, one subscriber to the term informs, is a “psycho-social state reflecting on the black South Africans’ sense of self, stemming partly from the psychological effects of apartheid.” Whites make them do it, in order words. --->READ MORE HERE

During the day in the South-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy stormed the positions of our units nine times in the areas of Starytsia, Vovchansk, and towards the settlements of Lyman, Hrafske, Mala Vovcha, and Odradne. Five combat engagements are still ongoing.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy carried out one offensive action towards Kupiansk.

Twelve attempts by the invaders to advance were repelled in the Lyman direction towards the settlements of Novyi Myr, Stepove, Drobysheve, Ozerne, Lyman, Dibrova, Stavky, and Novoselivka.

In the Sloviansk direction, the Defense Forces successfully stopped 23 attempts by the invaders to advance towards Rai-Oleksandrivka, Pyskunivka, and in the areas of the settlements of Zakitne, Kryva Luka, and Riznykivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian invaders carried out two attacks in the area of the settlement of Nykyforivka and towards Malynivka.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, the Defense Forces repelled 20 enemy assaults in the areas of the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, Ivanopillia, and towards Dovha Balka, Stepanivka, Vilne, and Kucheriv Yar.

Having given the official line their jobs may depend on to be taped, afterward they related what she called “stories of fear and anger, violence, loss of control, and failed migration policies, and the feeling among law enforcement officers of often being abandoned by politics and society.”

An admission despite a decade-long effort to purge mass migration-critical officers.

In Germany, the police have learned to hew to a narrative that their superiors dictate; that narrative is a pollyannish presentation of Germany today, a place where migrants seamlessly assimilate to the larger society, and where former Chancellor Angela Merkel’s insistence that “Wir schaffen das!” — “We Can Do This!” — has come true. Migrants, who are now overwhelmingly Muslims, are integrating successfully, albeit slowly; there is no need for alarm; beware the far-right Alternative für Deutschland party, that spreads fear in order to gain support from voters the party has managed to frighten. But when they are away from their superiors, and from the television cameras, those police officers have a very different story to tell.

As elsewhere in Western Europe, in Germany the political and media elites, with few exceptions, try to hide the baleful effects of Muslim immigration on the country. Propaganda Press Buries Illegal Alien’s Alleged Attempt To Run Over ICE Agent Before Fatal Shooting

The allegation that Araujo used his car as a deadly weapon prior to being fatally shot is central to the entire story — yet the propaganda press obfuscated it.

An illegal alien from Mexico was fatally shot Tuesday after he allegedly tried to run over an ICE agent with his vehicle during an enforcement operation, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

But you wouldn’t necessarily glean that if you read some of the headlines from members of the propaganda press.

The incident unfolded Tuesday morning when ICE agents “attempted to conduct a vehicle stop as part of a targeted enforcement operation to arrest an illegal alien. The driver of the vehicle, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo — an illegal alien from Mexico — attempted to evade arrest,” according to DHS. DHS said it received information that Araujo “rammed an ICE law enforcement vehicle, refused to follow multiple verbal commands, and weaponized his vehicle in an attempt to run over an ICE law enforcement officer resulting in our officer firing his weapon in self-defense.”

If that account is accurate, then the shooting occurred only after Araujo’ allegedly attempted ‘s alleged attempt to use his vehicle to kill or seriously injure a federal officer.

CNN’s Dalia Faheid and Chris Boyette nevertheless headlined their piece: “For 35 years, a Mexican father built homes in Houston. Then a morning drive ended in tragedy.”

Instead of leading with the details DHS says led to the shooting, Faheid and Boyette begin their story emphasizing Araujo’s family and profession. The third paragraph then states: “An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in an unmarked car fatally shot the Mexican man inside his van, Salgado Araujo’s oldest son recounted Wednesday.”

Notably, the son was not present during the incident, making his account secondhand. CNN did not tell readers that Araujo allegedly tried to run the officer over, instead simply saying that Araujo “attempted to evade arrest as agents tried to conduct a traffic stop as part of a ‘targeted operation.’ He rammed into a law enforcement vehicle and refused to follow several verbal commands before an ICE agent fired his weapon in self-defense, the agency told CNN in a statement Tuesday.” CNN later updated the article and changed the headline.

ABC News posted an article written by Armando Garcia on X: “Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers shot and killed a Mexican national during an incident in Houston on Tuesday, the agency said.” --->READ MORE HERE

ICE says officer shot and killed illegal immigrant who tried to ram him with car in Houston:

FBI is investigating after Lorenzo Salgado Araujo allegedly tried to ram his vehicle at agents, forcing an officer to fire in self-defense

An illegal immigrant was shot and killed in Houston after he allegedly tried to ram U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers during an operation, the agency said Tuesday.

ICE officers were attempting to conduct a traffic stop for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a Mexican citizen, at around 6:50 a.m., an ICE spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

Araujo tried evading the ICE officers when he "weaponized his vehicle in an attempt to run over an ICE law enforcement officer, resulting in our officer firing his weapon in self-defense."

Araujo was struck and taken to a hospital, where he later died. The Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General is investigating the shooting. The FBI is leading an investigation into the potential assault on a federal law enforcement officer.

After 250 Years, Our American Republic Is Coming Apart:

The crisis we face today is existential. Too many Americans, both native-born and naturalized, have been taught to despise their country.

If it sometimes seems like the American cultural mainstream is ignorant of the role of Christianity in the founding of the United States, or even hostile towards it, that’s because it is.

The story told about America’s founding by the corporate media, book publishers, libraries and other institutions is one in which the Christian faith, so central to our history and founding, is almost wholly absent.

I don’t mean that anecdotally. A recent report by conservative book publisher Brave Books analyzed more than 300 books across 25 reading lists curated by children’s publishers, public libraries, and other institutions for our country’s upcoming 250th anniversary. The report found that these lists contain zero titles that directly addressed religious liberty, faith, or the role of Christianity in the founding of the United States.

Instead, the books on these reading lists included titles like Ibram X. Kendi’s Stamped for Kids and Nikole Hannah-Jones’ Born on the Water, a picture book that’s part of the discredited and ahistorical 1619 Project. According to Brave Books, the central themes of these reading lists were the American Revolution, minority perspectives, Black history, civil rights and women’s history. But nothing about the Christian faith — or even about religious freedom, which is enshrined in our First Amendment.

In other words, the lists are nothing more than left-wing propaganda designed to erode patriotism and reframe American history as a catalogue of crimes rather than a noble endeavor in republican self-government. Their purpose is to destroy patriotism in the hearts and minds of young Americans and inculcate hatred and contempt for our history, our founders, and our people.

I mention this not because it will be news to anyone who has been paying attention to the drift of American culture over the past half-century, but because it illustrates what a fraught thing our 250th anniversary has become. Celebrating this milestone as a nation, together, is no longer possible because, practically speaking, we are no longer a single nation.

The simple yet shocking reality is that generations of Americans have been taught since early childhood to hate their country and despise their heritage. How can you celebrate a nation you have been taught is morally corrupt, hypocritical, and responsible for a legacy of oppression and violence? You can’t, which is why so many Americans are greeting our semiquincentennial with a shrug or an apology.

And that points to a deeper problem with the state of America in 2026, a problem that won’t be solved with better reading lists or institutional reform or a GOP victory in 2026 or 2028. The problem is this: too many people in this country either despise America or are completely indifferent to it.

Among these are the tens of millions of foreigners now living in the United States who don’t just reject the natural law principles upon which our form of government rests, but also have no intention of adopting American culture or an American way of life. Many of them have made little or no effort even to learn the English language. They are here, essentially, to make money, and have no real vested interest in America as such.

Many others are not just indifferent but actively hostile toward their adopted country. This tendency seems especially pronounced among the adult children of immigrants, who grew up in the United States but were taught by liberal public schools and the mainstream culture to despise their country and resent it. They essentially revived the Third World politics of their parents’ home countries and adopted the anti-colonialist mentality of their leftist teachers and professors.

This wasn’t supposed to happen. For a long time, open-borders advocates in academia and the media argued that the Third World politics of immigrants would get washed out through assimilation, and by the time second- and third-generation immigrant families gained real political power, they would have shed their Third World sensibilities. But what we have found out is that under conditions of mass immigration, that simply isn’t how it works. Instead of shedding their third-worldism, immigrants and their children are assimilated into an American mainstream that itself has been captured by Third World politics.

The predictable result is a growing category of Americans, both immigrant and native-born, who are not merely indifferent toward their country but actively despise it. Such people now account for something like half our population, including both the native-born and recent immigrants and the children of recent immigrants. These are the people who reliably vote Democrat, for candidates and agendas bent on remaking the U.S. into something other than what our founders created and intended. They follow Nikole Hannah-Jones and Ibram X. Kendi, placing the “true” American founding in 1619 because to them, America was founded on exploitation and violence — a legacy that continues to the present day.

Consider the cadre of candidates connected to the Democrats Socialists of America that are finding electoral success in deep-blue areas. In New York, self-described democratic socialist Aber Kwas, an American-born daughter of Palestinian refugees, just won the Democratic primary for State Senate in District 12 (Queens). Kwas has said publicly that the 9/11 terrorist attacks were America’s fault, brought on by our supposed “system of capitalism, racism, white supremacy and Islamophobia.”

As the DSA continues its takeover of the Democratic Party establishment, this kind of anti-American rhetoric hardly stands out anymore. The media’s at it again: Trying to whip up public hysteria over immigration enforcement.

“President Donald Trump had pledged to target the ‘worst of the worst’ criminal offenders among the nation’s migrants,” ABC News intoned this month — yet “just 3% of recent ICE detainees had a violent felony conviction.”

The story zoomed around social media and was picked up by other outlets, many of which implied that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement has somehow betrayed its focus on public safety.

But that argument rests on a fundamental misunderstanding of both immigration law and the purpose of immigration enforcement.

ABC’s statistic is real — of the 438,537 illegal immigrants detained in the administration’s first 14 months, 13,018 of them had been convicted of a crime like homicide or sexual assault in the US.

Yet its conclusion is utterly wrong, ignoring the impact of the most significant immigration law Congress has enacted in years: the Laken Riley Act.

Americans should remember why Congress passed that law.

Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student, was murdered in February 2024 by an illegal immigrant who had been apprehended for committing lesser offenses and released into the United States.

Her vicious killing sparked outrage over a system that repeatedly ignored warning signs — until an innocent American paid the ultimate price.

Congress responded with a clear message: Immigration authorities shouldn’t wait for illegal immigrants to commit murder, rape, robbery or other violent felonies before taking action.

Instead, the Laken Riley Act expanded mandatory-detention rules to include illegal immigrants who are arrested for, or admit to, a range of crimes including burglary, theft, larceny and shoplifting.

People like Javier Hernandez Rosas, an alleged MS-13 member from Mexico with arrests for abduction and weapons possession, now in ICE detention.

Or Nelson Vladimir Amaya-Benitez of El Salvador, charged with armed robbery and theft.

Congress decided that, as a matter of public safety, intervention must occur before such criminal conduct escalates.

Yet critics now complain that too many detained aliens are not convicted murderers, rapists or robbers — turning the law on its head.

The goal of immigration enforcement is not merely to identify the worst offenders, but to apply the laws Congress enacted to protect Americans from becoming victims in the first place.

A total of 215 combat engagements have taken place along the front line since the beginning of the day, with the heaviest fighting continuing in the Pokrovsk and Sloviansk sectors.

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this in its operational update as of 22:00 on Saturday, July 11, published on Facebook.

"Since the beginning of the day, there have been 215 combat engagements. The enemy launched two missile strikes using seven missiles, carried out 60 airstrikes, and dropped 160 guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russian forces deployed 5,924 kamikaze drones and conducted 2,134 attacks on populated areas and the positions of our troops," the statement said.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Russian forces launched three attacks, one of which is still ongoing. The enemy also carried out one airstrike using three guided aerial bombs and shelled Ukrainian positions and settlements 66 times, including two attacks with multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Russian troops launched seven assaults near Lyman, Hryhorivka, Karaichne, Ivanivka, Malyi Burluk, and Starytsia. Two engagements are still underway.

In the Kupiansk sector, Russian forces launched four assaults toward Borivska Andriivka, Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, and Podoly. Two battles are ongoing.

Ukrainian defenders repelled five Russian attempts to advance in the Lyman sector near Druzheliubivka, Stavky, and Dibrova.

In the Sloviansk sector, Ukrainian forces successfully stopped 22 Russian assaults near Kryva Luka, Zakitne, Rai-Oleksandrivka, and Riznykivka.

Nine enemy assaults were recorded in the Kramatorsk sector near Fedorivka Druha, Malynivka, and Nykyforivka.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani caught some Italian heat Wednesday after releasing a map of the Big Apple’s ethnic enclaves that includes places like Little Palestine — but ignores historic Little Italy and other notable Irish and Jewish immigrant nabes.

The map, titled “New York City Immigrant Enclaves,” highlights 30 areas across the five boroughs, ranging from Koreatown in Manhattan to Little Pakistan in Brooklyn and Little Yemen in The Bronx.

But critics were quick to roast the socialist mayor for overlooking the city’s very own “original Little” — a nationally recognized historic district that brought you everything from meatballs to the mafia.

“No italians. … Give me a break,” one observer fumed on X Wednesday.

Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R-Queens) said snubbing Little Italy, which was established in the late 19th century, was a major flub.

“They were able to get a Little Bhod-Tibet in there, but what about the original ‘Little neighborhood,’ Little Italy?” Ariola told The Post.

“And what about areas like Woodlawn, in the Bronx, which are home to plenty of Irish immigrants? Do the Irish and Italians not count for the Mayor’s office?”

Joseph Scelsa, founder of the Italian-American Museum on Mulberry Street, called the exclusion of Italian-American enclaves a “terrible mistake.”

“To respect one is to respect all,” he said.

“Italian-Americans are still a major population in New York City. To not recognize where Italian-Americans came from and settled is a terrible mistake. I don’t understand why Little Italy isn’t included. I hope it’s an oversight.”

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is under fire from an Italian American heritage group after Little Italy was left off a city immigrant-neighborhood map tied to a World Cup tourism campaign — an omission critics called an insult to one of the communities that helped build New York.

"Zohran Mamdani wants to ERASE Italian Americans. First, he denied our permit for Unity Day 2026. Now, he is excluding Little Italy as a recognized location all together on the map," wrote the Italian American Civil Rights League (IACRL) on X along with a press release.

"Italian Americans BUILT NEW YORK CITY. Not third world Ugandans, We stand AGAINST COMMUNISTS," the group added.

The map, titled "New York City Immigrant Enclaves," is being promoted as part of its NYC Neighborhood Passport campaign tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs has shared the neighborhood map at pop-up booths across the city.

The New York City Tourism + Conventions, which promotes the graphic on its website, told Fox News Digital later on Thursday that the "immigrant enclave map" was created by the NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs in 2023.

Our ‘theater-kid occupied government’ routinely attains to new heights of absurdity, as shown in Ketanji Brown Jackson’s antiracist screed.

The travesty of last week’s Trump v. Barbara decision on birthplace citizenship is further highlighted by the fact that the five-vote majority consisted of nominally conservative Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Amy Coney Barrett joining with all three liberal justices.
While Roberts authored the majority opinion, social-justice warrior Ketanji Brown Jackson could not restrain herself from penning her own 20-page concurrence to specifically target the erudite dissent of Justice Clarence Thomas. Jackson provides no serious intellectual response to the scholarly treatise Thomas produced, yet it is illuminating for other reasons. Recall this is the same woman who, her prestigious position on the court notwithstanding, in December 2024 performed onstage in a Broadway musical all about feminist and LGBT “empowerment.”

Our “theater-kid occupied government,” to borrow the hypothesis popularized online by John Doyle, routinely attains to new heights of absurdity, as shown in Jackson’s antiracist screed. Jackson’s concurrence is packed with language that reeks of her pervasive critical-theory framework, which sees all of history as a struggle between “oppressors” and “oppressed.”

Upon reading through it, one is shocked by the ubiquitous presence of CRT buzzwords and phrases such as “antisubordination reset,” “universalist approach,” “universalist vision of belonging and citizenship,” “racial reckoning,” “anticaste engine,” “equal dignity,” “shared humanity of all people,” “perfect equality of every human being,” “inequitable result,” and “universalist, antisubordination command.” These phrases could easily have been plucked seamlessly from the writing of Ibram Kendi or from the many amicus briefs filed by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Ironically, when typing this article, Microsoft Word’s spell check did not even recognize “antisubordination” and “anticaste” as dictionary words. That didn’t seem to stop Justice Jackson.

In Jackson’s opinion, she views the 14th Amendment coming upon the heels of the Civil War as a “remaking of the soul of a Nation beset by rank, entrenched race-based prejudice and inequity.” Thus, to interpret the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment as only applying to citizens, or even only to those permanently domiciled here, is to revive the discriminatory, racist older America.

She deliberately takes issue with Justice Thomas’ argument that the citizenship clause was only meant to grant citizenship to freed slaves and was not intended to apply to foreigners on American soil who owe allegiance to a foreign government. As she puts it, “The Reconstruction Amendments were an anticaste, antisubordination reset for the Nation, not a mere spot treatment for the dark stain of slavery.”

To interpret the citizenship clause as it was meant by its framers would be unacceptable. Who cares if illegal aliens from Latin America or Chinese birth tourists are subject to a foreign power? If America seeks to very reasonably exclude them from birthplace citizenship (consonant with the original meaning of the 14th Amendment), that is an exclusionary rejection of the radically inclusive vision Jackson would impose on the Constitution through her distorted reading. In her grand narrative of moral absolutes, echoing the 1619 Project, America’s story is a narrative of oppression, slavery, exploitation, and genocide; America’s only admirable features are its leftist crusades against oppression. America is only worthy to the extent it atones for its past sins by endless programs of antidiscrimination and reparations for the oppressed.

Furthermore, there is no evidence in her 20-page concurrence that Jackson sees or posits any limitation upon American citizenship. She sees the 14th Amendment as a rejection of any kind of discrimination whatsoever, giving us a “universalist, antisubordination command” based upon the “shared humanity of all people.” Anyone who happens to be born on American soil can be an American citizen, no matter how absurd the consequences. But why stop there? Isn’t it exclusionary to limit it to American soil? Why should the 8 billion people of the globe have to get to American soil to be born American citizens? Why can’t we just have global American citizenship to atone for America’s past sins of racism, colonialism, sexism, and so on? --->READ MORE HERE

SCOTUS Pasting Birth Tourism Into The Constitution Demands A Legal System Rebuild:

That a court with six Republican-appointed justices could hand down such a patently un-American decision is an indictment of America’s rogue legal system.

The Roberts Court just handed down a majority birthplace citizenship decision on the legal level of Dred Scott and Roe v. Wade. No judge who calls himself an originalist, textualist, or in any way claims dedication to American rule of law could support the 5-4 majority in Trump v. Barbara.
As the dissents and much other scholarly work show plainly and definitively, the 14th Amendment simply does not say that anyone who happens to be born on U.S. soil thereby magically becomes a U.S. citizen. “Subject to the jurisdiction thereof” means “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” It’s not legally or verbally complicated.

It’s also not philosophically complicated. The American founders and the 14th Amendment framers’ understanding of citizenship has always been rooted in the consent of the governed, in an explicit rejection of the medieval subjectship Chief Justice John Roberts employed as the basis for his anti-American ruling. While Kavanaugh’s compromise position has legal and prudential merit, there is simply no legal, cultural, practical, or philosophical justification in legitimately American jurisprudence for Roberts’ majority.

The simplest way to know that’s true, for judges who can’t think their way out of a Washington Post editorial-lashing, is if you’re ruling with Ketanji “I don’t understand” Brown Jackson and against Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, you’re wrong.

That a court with six Republican-appointed justices could hand down such a patently un-American, anti-Constitutional decision is an indictment of America’s rogue legal system. It only accents the scores of horrific decisions coming daily out of the federal judiciary in the age of Trump that Roberts has abandoned his duty, as chief magistrate, to curb.

It’s past time that elected officials of the party that claims to love the Constitution and its principles made substantive reforms to a legal system that seems incapable of producing three or four other justices — let alone a federal bench — worthy of Thomas’ and Alito’s legacies out of the 350 million people in the greatest country in the world.
The second Trump administration has made some small progress in this direction by pushing big law firms to dollop a soupçon of pro bono work on non-leftist causes, and canceling federal contracts with firms that helped foment the Spygate coup. Both of these, however, have been under inevitable litigation. They also don’t go anywhere near far enough.

Many other things can and must be done to redress the existential crisis that is an American legal profession increasingly dedicated to anti-Constitution law. Like many problems with domestic communism, many of the legal profession’s evils germinate in publicly subsidized educational institutions. Luckily, those are controlled by elected officials.

Here, Republican-run states that wish to demonstrate seriousness about Republican officeholders’ professed love for American principles can take big action. So can the Trump administration, for it can — and should — ditch the leftist monopoly that currently controls virtually all of U.S. legal education, the American Bar Association.

In concert, Republican states and the Trump administration must stand up one or several competing, federally approved law school accreditors and post-graduation professional associations. The Federalist Society should be able to field at least one of these new accreditors, and Republican states, perhaps through the Republican Attorneys General Association, should field another. Monopolies drive up costs and drive down quality, so the ABA shouldn’t be replaced by another single entity.

Once the ABA has replacements, those replacements should begin threatening the ability of law schools to accept federal student loans if the schools’ curriculum or teachers push unconstitutional race and sex discrimination (commonly known as “DEI”). They should do a reverse “march through the institutions” to eradicate and punish race and sex Marxism in any and all taxpayer-funded “education” institutions. Put Chris Rufo on the accreditation board; he’ll know what to do.

A component of dethroning the ABA needs to be replacing it and state licensing boards’ control of the legal profession. Many Republican-run states also allow bureaucrats to create lists of judges for officeholders to pick from when nominating, which obviously tends to reward and promote cowardly and weak judges rather than judges who courageously defend traditional American rule of law. That practice needs to end, yesterday. Judges like the 9th Circuit’s Lawrence VanDyke need to be promoted, given law school fetes and visiting professorships, and all the other honors currently purposefully denied to effective constitutionalists in law.
Republican-run states also need to raze and replace state law schools. Law school faculty trend communist. It is completely unacceptable and un-American to keep any communists on public payroll. If they have to dissolve their law schools to get rid of tenured communists, state lawmakers should be prepared to do so. Iran's players face the regime before every opponent.

During Iran’s last appearance in the World Cup four years ago in Qatar, players refused to sing their national anthem before their first match against England. Their steadfast silence expressed support for the Woman, Life, Freedom Movement arising from the death of Mahsa Amini, who died in custody two months earlier after being arrested for not wearing her hijab properly.

Iranian fans cheered.

But before Iran’s next match against Wales four days later, most of a starting lineup that looked intimidated either sang or mouthed their national anthem’s words meekly as fans jeered.

What happened? Members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps approached the players between games and threatened their loved ones back home if they continued to protest.

Those incidents exemplify the pervasive control the IRGC holds not only over the national team but over all Iranian soccer. Since the United States and Canada view the IRGC as a terrorist group, both nations refused to grant visas to Iranian soccer officials and support personnel — including Mehdi Taj, president of the national federation, and Hedayat Membini, its secretary general.

As part of the visa restrictions, the national team had to live and train in Tijuana, though all its first-round games took place in Seattle and Inglewood, Calif., a suburb of Los Angeles. After each game, the squad immediately returned to Tijuana.

“The group stage is finished tomorrow and we don’t have our logistics people here,” forward Mehdi Taremi, the team captain and a veteran of three World Cups, said after Iran’s final first-round game Friday. “We don’t have recovery or logistics people to help us. They don’t have a visa.

“We have to fight everything here. FIFA did nothing. It’s not fair. Who wants to help us? It’s a disaster (cq) World Cup, a disaster.”

But consider that Taremi spent most of his career supporting the regime. He not only was a personal friend of the late Iranian president, Ebrahim Raisi, one of Khamenei’s proteges. In 2017, Taremi reposted Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s Twitter declaration that Israel would cease to exist within 25 years.

The relationship between the regime and sports began when Khamenei secured the IRGC’s loyalty by promising economic opportunities insulated from financial accountability. As a result, the IRGC expanded into industries ranging from banking to mining to agriculture to construction, and accounts for more than 50 percent of Iran’s gross domestic product.

“Over the past two decades, most sports clubs and related bodies have been taken over by political or security-military organizations, with former Revolutionary Guards holding the top positions,” Kambiz Foroohar, a journalist and consultant, wrote for the Middle East Institute in 2021. “The financial benefits of running a sports club are simply too great for the Revolutionary Guards to ignore.”

Money becomes the reward for exercising political power.

“The Guards see sports as a form of social control to be exploited in pursuit of domestic policy objectives,” Foroohar wrote. “The country’s two most popular sports, wrestling and football, attract a young male demographic, often from poor socio-economic backgrounds, that needs to be managed and directed. Furthermore, sports have a symbolic value, as policies applied to the athletic domain project ideals for society at large.”

The IRGC exerts its power in domestic soccer through the Persian Gulf Pro League. Former IRGC commanders serve as club executives or board members, especially at two of the biggest clubs in Asia: Persepolis and Esteghlal, bitter rivals based in Tehran. The chief executive officer of one mid-level club, working under a double alias, not only was an IRGC commander and the head of security for state television. Amir Mansour Bozorgian-Asl (his real name) belonged to an assassination team that murdered in Vienna the leader of the Democratic Party of Kurdistan, Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou, in 1989, as well as other Kurdish activists elsewhere.

The IRGC even owns one club: Shiraz’s Fajr Sepasi FC, which the unofficial Team Melli website called “the most hated club in Iran!”

Khamenei protected his IRGC allies in soccer by ordering a popular Iranian soccer commentator off state television in 2019 for being too tough on corruption and mismanagement. Adel Ferdosipour, whom Newsweek described in 2009 as one of Iran’s 20 most powerful people, had been covering soccer for two decades.

Corruption flourished under Taj, who was an IRGC intelligence officer at 19 and is serving his third term as president of the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran. For example, players accused the federation in 2019 of stealing 1.5 million Swiss francs, or $1.3 million, they received for playing in the 2014 and 2018 World Cups. The IRGC even influences the choice of a national coach.

Since the men’s national soccer team represents the sporting world’s most direct connection with Iran, the regime takes great pains to use it to promote propaganda and to enforce political compliance. The team’s official video for this year’s World Cup began with shots of an Iranian flag flying near bomb damage accompanied by a statement of defiance:

“Even if the entire world becomes our enemy, this land belongs to Imam Mahdi, the imam of the time.”

Shia religious imagery and singing dominate the video, which includes an AI-generated image of head coach Amir Ghalenoei with his hands extended in prayer.

Later, players wearing the national white soccer uniform turn into soldiers wearing camouflage and helmets while brandishing automatic weapons.

Authorities spare no expense to ensure compliance. For the 2022 World Cup, the regime spent $2.36 million to send about 350 agents and social media specialists to the tournament. Qatari authorities helped by banning the lion-and-sun flag, symbolic of the deposed Pahlavi dynasty, and other anti-regime messages. --->READ MORE HERE

Another heartwarming story from the new Europe.

Europe is changing rapidly, and we have all simply have to adapt. It has become far more diverse and multicultural than it once was, and that is, as we have been reminded constantly for decades now, something to celebrate. Sure, Europe is now less safe, more squalid, and far less inviting than it was just a few years ago, but that’s just racism, xenophobia, and “Islamophobia” talking. If we were simply less blinkered and mired in our own prejudices, we would be able to see the glories of the new Europe for what they are. One byproduct of that would be that we would see this story from Sweden as something to celebrate, rather than something to deplore.

The European Conservative reported Friday that “two former home care workers of Syrian descent, Ghazi Jamal Eddin and Mohammad Kher Alhasan in Örebro have been convicted of filming and humiliating elderly people in their care, a case that has prompted Swedish MEP (Sweden Democrats/ECR) Charlie Weimers to call for the deportation of those responsible.”

Deportation? Really, Weimers? Get with it, man! This is the new Europe we’re talking about! These guys shouldn’t be deported! They should be celebrated, for they embody the values that before too long, all Swedes will have to adopt, or else! One of them should become the next prime minister of Sweden, and then, after a few years, the other can succeed him.

Instead, the Swedes are being intolerably “Islamophobic”: “One of the culprits, Eddin, a 22-year-old Syrian man, was found guilty of 36 counts of offensive photography and seven counts of molestation after recordings showed him verbally abusing vulnerable residents while carrying out his duties. According to the district court, he repeatedly filmed elderly people in their own homes without their knowledge or consent, often targeting victims suffering from dementia, before sharing some of the recordings with others.”

Eddin and Alhasan seem to have seen their behavior as a manifestation of their commitment to serving Allah: “Several incidents of verbal abuse formed part of the convictions. In one case, the man loudly sang and told an 86-year-old woman, ‘I’ll f.ck your god’s sister’ in Arabic.” Bringing the infidel Swedes’ God into the picture, however crudely, makes it clear that Ghazi Jamal Eddin and Mohammad Kher Alhasan had contempt and hatred for the elderly people in their care because their victims were not Muslims. Showing contempt and hatred for non-Muslims is commanded in the Qur’an: “Muhammad is the apostle of Allah. Those who follow him are ruthless to unbelievers, merciful to one another” (48:29).

One of these two exemplary Muslims also resorted to more conventional insults: “During another incident involving a 92-year-old woman, he shouted that she ‘looks like a monkey.’ In the recording, he can also be heard saying in Arabic: ‘Eat s**t! Whore!’” --->READ MORE HERE

Court Finds Syrian Home Care Workers Abused Swedish Elderly People in Their Care:

Swedish MEP Charlie Weimers called for the deportation of the two men who verbally and physically abused their victims.

Two former home care workers of Syrian descent, Ghazi Jamal Eddin and Mohammad Kher Alhasan in Örebro have been convicted of filming and humiliating elderly people in their care, a case that has prompted Swedish MEP (Sweden Democrats/ECR) Charlie Weimers to call for the deportation of those responsible.

One of the culprits, Eddin, a 22-year-old Syrian man, was found guilty of 36 counts of offensive photography and seven counts of molestation after recordings showed him verbally abusing vulnerable residents while carrying out his duties. According to the district court, he repeatedly filmed elderly people in their own homes without their knowledge or consent, often targeting victims suffering from dementia, before sharing some of the recordings with others.

“It has been a question of people who in many ways are in a defenseless position,” the district court wrote.

The court also stressed that the offenses took place in victims’ homes, “a place where they should have the right to feel safe.”

Several incidents of verbal abuse formed part of the convictions. In one case, the man loudly sang and told an 86-year-old woman, “I’ll f.ck your god’s sister” in Arabic. During another incident involving a 92-year-old woman, he shouted that she “looks like a monkey.” In the recording, he can also be heard saying in Arabic: “Eat shit! Whore!”

The court also convicted him of molestation for his treatment of a 98-year-old woman after prosecutors alleged he grabbed her, struck her with a plastic glove, and lifted her by the armpits so she was hanging straight up. Although acquitted of assault, the court described the conduct as “particularly serious.”

While some journalists and right-wing figures had known about them for decades, the horror of the U.K. rape gangs received a long-overdue wave of public attention beginning with Elon Musk’s high-profile posts about them in January 2025. Along with the current U.K. government’s Independent Inquiry into Grooming Gangs, Rupert Lowe of the Restore Britain party just released the Rape Gang Inquiry Report. The Inquiry was initiated by Lowe and was headed by Sammy Woodhouse, herself a survivor of abuse at the hands of the rape gangs. Many shocking and informative highlights and summaries from the report have been spreading on social media, such as this one from Libs of TikTok.

The 2026 Rape Gang Inquiry Report is one of the most thorough attempts yet to document the scale of the rape and trafficking of white British girls within the U.K. at the hands of predominantly Pakistani Muslim men. While reports of the abuse in centers like Rotherham, Telford, and Oxford may be the most detailed, this was a national phenomenon. The report summarizes:

“Organised networks of perpetrators built coordinated operations that transported victims between locations, supplied them with drugs and alcohol, recorded abuse for distribution and blackmail, and passed girls between multiple adult men. These crimes have been committed for decades, since the 1950s by Pakistanis in particular, and have affected every region of our nation. The scale of the crimes committed is staggering. It has been previously established that, at the very least, 250,000 young white girls have been subjected to repeated rape, gang rape, trafficking, torture, pregnancy, forced Islamic conversion, and lifelong trauma. The true number is probably higher”.

Much dispute remains about the actual count of victims. While the report gives the estimate of 250,000 victims at minimum, some estimate (e.g. 2025 Matthew Goodwin interview with Jordan Peterson) that there could have been up to 1 million victims over the past four to five decades. Other reasonable advocates, while horrified at the scandal, have expressed skepticism about such high numbers, though still alleging it could easily have been tens of thousands of victims. It is difficult to demonstrably ascertain the exact count, primarily because the British government has made no serious attempt to document these crimes or bring justice.

The report explains that likely 95 percent of the gang members responsible for the horrific abuse are Muslim men — “predominantly of Pakistani heritage, although smaller groups from Somali, Iranian, Syrian, Turkish, and other Muslim origins were also involved” (7). The rape gang activity seems to date from the 1970s, but there are newspaper reports even from the 1950s recounting sexual assaults of white British girls by Pakistani men.

As the report states, “This was soon after former colonial subjects, from the subcontinent as much as the Caribbean, became eligible to enter the United Kingdom in non-trivial numbers under the British Nationality Act 1948. What began as singular and small-scale instances became systematic and industrial over time” (11). As Rupert Lowe intended to demonstrate by this inquiry, the problem is not ultimately about sexual abuse — but about mass immigration from non-European countries.

The report documents the way in which these horrific abuses unfolded over decades in multiple counties and cities across the U.K. and how they were predominantly covered up and enabled by the local and national government, including police, government schools, social care services, and the National Health Service (NHS). Government officials feared being deemed “racist’ for exposing the gangs — anything no matter how brutal or corrupt rather than threaten the revered sanctity of multiculturalism.

As the report notes, “The [Labour] party prioritised electoral reliance on Muslim voting blocs and then blocked or watered down inquiries, suppressed ethnicity data, and framed legitimate concerns as “far-right” agitation … Political correctness, fear of accusations of racism, and fear of losing electoral support from certain demographics have taken precedence over the protection of British children” (9). While the Labour Party bears significant guilt, the report also highlights the complicity and passivity of the Tories during their periods of national control, in which they likewise failed to bring attention or any accountability to the ubiquitous evil of the rape gangs.

A Proper Response

These awful events are the undeniable consequences of mass migration. Mass migration of non-Europeans into Western nations has consistently been accompanied with sexual violence against whites in America, Britain, and Europe. These horrifying stories out of the U.K. match the overall trend of increasing levels of sexual violence perpetrated by immigrants across Europe against white Europeans. The rape gangs are a feature, not a bug, of mass migration, diversity, and multiculturalism.

There is a marked pattern of asymmetry in which many European governments refuse to investigate or prosecute these violent sexual crimes with appropriate rigor, let alone close their borders and end immigration from the third world and Muslim countries. Not only do the European nations not protect their citizens from this kind of violence by immigrants, but they have also imposed Orwellian speech codes on their people, arresting thousands for speech critical of the government or speech deemed hateful, racist, divisive, or inflammatory against protected classes (e.g. migrants). The U.K. leads the way with this crackdown on free speech with more than 12,000 arrests per year.

As these gruesome facts come to light, not only should we aggressively pursue criminal convictions and severe punishment for the rapists and traffickers, but more importantly we should tolerate nothing less than a full halt on all non-European (i.e., third world) migration into the West and a policy of mandatory remigration of non-Europeans. The acts were committed repeatedly between February and April against these animals, which belonged to the “Un moment” sanctuary and educational farm in Les Pennes-Mirabeau, near Marseille. Cassandra Sortino, the facility’s owner, remains deeply traumatized by the events. “We set up this organization to do good, yet the animals were in danger within our own facility. There is no moral explanation for it,” she says. “We feel like we failed.” She is defending herself without a lawyer, seeking in vain an answer to the question: “Why?”

For her and the volunteers present in the courtroom, the nightmare began in February. After noticing ligature marks on the legs of some animals, she decided to file a police report. The animals also showed vulvar injuries and traces of blood, as confirmed by a veterinarian. After installing a surveillance camera, Cassandra Sortino repeatedly spotted a male figure and observed the same signs of abuse. She visited the police station several times before the defendant was finally arrested in early April—caught in the act behind a goat. He was wearing latex gloves, and his trousers were down.

Despite the evidence—his DNA was found on the animals, and his phone repeatedly pinged cell towers near the farm—Massoud S. completely denies the allegations. “I don’t know how to explain it,” he replies when questioned by the judges. Regarding the night of his arrest, he claims he missed his train to Marseille, where he lives in an asylum-seeker center in the 3rd arrondissement. “That place was right next to the station; as far as I was concerned, there was nowhere else to stay for the night,” he explains. “I wish I could have understood.”

The questioning sometimes feels like a dialogue of the deaf, hampered by the laborious translation into English. Having arrived in France in November 2025, Massoud S. claims to have lost his family in an airstrike in Afghanistan during the war. “After recounting my story and the impact on my mental health, I received treatment,” he recalls, describing it as “very heavy.” When asked about his strict religious upbringing, he says he feels “full of shame.”

New Study: Immigration Caused 40% Of Your Rent Hikes Over 10 Years:

By separating the spatial effects and then measuring the indirect “spillover effects,” this research paints a clearer picture of immigration’s overreach into communities, theoretically spread over the whole country.

Immigration accounts for as much as 40 percent of U.S. rent increases as the housing affordability crisis continues to plague millions of Americans, according to a forthcoming study shared exclusively with The Federalist.
The paper, “Immigration and Rent: A PUMA-Based Spatial Analysis,” will appear this fall in Cityscape magazine as part of a collection of works exploring the relationship between immigration and housing markets.

The research conducted by Dr. Jason Richwine, a resident scholar at the Center for Immigration Studies, found that the surge of immigration which started during the Biden administration has direct implications on the affordability of housing in America today.

His measurement of migration accounts for both legal and illegal immigrants. Although he noted that the exact amount of each within that percentage is hard to quantify as the word “immigrant” has become a gray area.

The Proof Is In The PUMA

Since 2020, home prices have increased by 54 percent nationwide and more than 50 percent in 73 of the country’s 100 largest metros, says Axios.

A recent Federal Reserve working paper found that unauthorized immigrant worker flows caused 30 percent of the total increase in house prices and 20 percent of the increase in rent.

From Dr. Richwine’s examination of data from 2013-2022, his findings attribute immigration to 40 percent of the real rent increase. His study takes into account the indirect “spillover effects” caused by immigration.

Dr. Richwine’s study uses a different kind of sample size called a PUMA (Public Use Microdata Area) — the smallest geographical unit available to researchers from the United States Census Bureau.

In past studies, a number of researchers observed a positive correlation between immigration and housing values using Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) spatial analysis. They estimated “an immigration inflow equal to 1 percent of a city’s population is associated with increases in average rents and housing values of about 1 percent.”

“You look at how much immigration is going up in a certain area, like a state or a county and then sees what the effect on housing is there,” Dr. Richwine said. “But the problem with that literature has been the fact that rent tends to be very much spatially correlated – if rent goes up in one county, its likely to go up in an adjoining county.”

Dr. Richwine calls this the “spillover effect.” By separating the spatial effects and then measuring the indirect “spillover effects,” this research paints a clearer picture of immigration’s overreach into communities, theoretically spread over the whole country.

“Taking all spillover effects into account, a simultaneous 1 percentage-point increase in immigration in all PUMAs is associated with an average increase in native rent of 1.46 percent,” Dr. Richwine’s abstract reads. “Along with a 0.65 percentage-point increase in the share of natives who are burdened by a high rent/income ratio.”

Based on these findings, for every 1 percentage point change in immigration, cost of rent went up by about 1.5 percent. Meaning, if there’s a 10 percent point change in immigration, then it would be a 15 percent increase in rent. When that rent goes up in one PUMA, it also causes rent to go up in surrounding PUMAs because of the way the markets are intertwined.

“Immigrants coming into one PUMA is kind of like throwing a little stone into a lake and you see the ripples coming away,” Richwine said. “Where the stone splashes are the direct effects, and the ripples are the indirect effects.”

The study find that those indirect effects spread over the whole country, making larger ripples near the adjacent PUMAs. These reverberations happen spatially when immigrants come to a large share of American geography.

“If we just had immigration to one PUMA, it wouldn’t really have a very large effect, but the fact is we have immigration coming to lots of PUMAs,” Richwine said. “And under the model, if you have immigrants coming to every PUMA, that’s like throwing thousands of stones into the lake all at once, and then all those ripple effects kind of interact with each other.”

In the city of Los Angeles alone there are 50 different measured PUMAs.
LA is a known immigration hub and sanctuary city, with 35 percent of the population of Los Angeles County being foreign-born. The current cost to rent is also 36 percent higher than the national average. Los Angeles also faces a historic housing crisis. In 2021, California mandated LA must add more than 450,000 housing units by 2029 to keep up with the current demand. However, the city has only issued permits for 81,306 housing units so far.

President Trump announced Wednesday that he will ask the Supreme Court to rehear the birthright citizenship case after it ruled against him last month.

The high court quashed Trump’s day-one executive order to end automatic birthright citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants and birth tourists, ruling that it violated the Constitution.

“Signs and Billboards are being put up all over our Southern Border, and Mexico, advertising BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP with ‘Deliveries starting at $4000.'” Trump fumed on Truth Social Wednesday.

“Not sustainable. NOBODY SAW THIS COMING!!!” he added. “AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP IS NOT FOR SALE! In fact, that is a crime, and therefore, the Supreme Court’s ruling is wrong. I will be asking for a Rehearing by the United States Supreme Court, IMMEDIATELY.”

It is very rare for the Supreme Court to rehear cases.

The last time the justices opted to rehear a case they previously decided was in 1965, and that was to address a technical issue, not to issue a full reversal.

The Supreme Court has only reversed a merits ruling once, in 1956’s Reid v. Covert. President Donald Trump will ask the Supreme Court to reconsider its decision on the birthright citizenship case, he announced on Wednesday.

Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social that the court's decision to uphold birthright citizenship, even in the case of children of illegal immigrants and those in the U.S. temporarily, was "absolutely insane."

The president said he was already seeing examples of the ruling being exploited.

"Signs and Billboards are being put up all over our Southern Border, and Mexico, advertising BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP, with 'Deliveries starting at $4000.' Likewise, similar signs going up all over our Country. Billions of Dollars will be illegally made by this SCAM, with Citizenship going to anyone willing to pay," Trump wrote.

"I will be asking for a Rehearing by the United States Supreme Court, IMMEDIATELY. This miscarriage of justice will destroy America if they don’t change their absolutely insane decision," he added.

At its quarter-millennium mark, America must discover anew the sinews of self-governance.

It’s hard to believe, but our great nation celebrates its 250th birthday this Saturday. May that celebration, as Declaration of Independence signee and then-future President John Adams put in a letter to his wife Abigail on July 3, 1776, “be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.”
The United States is the oldest continuously functioning constitutional republic of its kind. Empires have risen and fallen. Monarchies have been toppled. Tyrannies have met the ash heap of history. Countless other republics have succumbed to faction, corruption, and decadence. Yet through civil war, depressions, world wars, a century-long “march through the institutions” by the Marxist Left, and so much more, the American constitutional order has endured. Indeed, in many (though not all) ways, it has thrived.

This was never inevitable.

Our nation was built on, and is still dependent upon, a series of assumptions—both explicit and implicit—about sociology, morality, and human nature itself. The Framers understood that parchment barriers alone could never preserve liberty or secure the “common good of society.” Institutions and constitutional structure matter, but institutions and structures are ultimately only as healthy and stable as the people who fill them and imbue them with life.

Adams later summarized this truth with characteristic clarity: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Adams understood that constitutional government presupposes a citizenry that is morally and intellectually capable of governing itself. His presidential predecessor, George Washington, put it similarly in his Farewell Address: “[L]et us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. … [R]eason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.”

The winning recipe thus emerges and becomes quite clear. And while there is a role for the state here, public virtue must primarily be cultivated through religion, community, and civic education. The Founders assumed that future generations of Americans would remain serious students and caretakers of their own political inheritance. They assumed that American citizens generations hence would understand their Constitution, appreciate the principles of republican self-governance, and remain active participants in that difficult work from the grassroots all the way up through high elected office.

Without that strong civic foundation, ordered liberty cannot long survive. No Founding-era episode captures this truth better than Benjamin Franklin’s famous exchange following the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. When local socialite Elizabeth Willing Powel asked what form of government the great men of the Convention had produced, Franklin quipped, “A republic, if you can keep it.”

The genius of that response lies in its conditional nature. Neither the Declaration of Independence nor the Constitution guaranteed republican government. Indeed, no declaration or constitution could guarantee such a thing. Instead, our Founding-era documents merely made republican self-governance possible. The success of the American experiment would primarily depend not upon judges, bureaucrats, or elected officials, but upon the character, wisdom, and vigilance of the American people themselves. This is surely what a young Abraham Lincoln also meant, speaking just a few decades later in Springfield, Illinois, when he argued: “If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher.”

During his early-19th century travels to the fledgling republic, Frenchman Alexis de Tocqueville observed that America’s strength did not primarily arise from geography or military power. Rather, it flowed from the habits of self-government that infused American civic life. Citizens formed voluntary associations. They participated in local government. They debated public questions—vigorously, with knowledge and passion. Churches, schools, and families all served as training grounds for republican citizenship. America’s political culture was remarkable because ordinary people viewed themselves not as subjects to be governed but as citizen-statesmen entrusted with the solemn task of stewarding the fate of a nation.

This broader understanding and development represented one of the greatest moral and political advances in Western political history.

For centuries, political power had generally been understood in the West as something wielded by the few—or in the case of monarchy, the only—over the many. By contrast, the Declaration of 1776 and the Constitution of 1787 boldly affirmed that legitimate political authority derives from the consent of the governed and that free citizens possess both the right and the responsibility to direct their nation’s affairs. Republican self-governance demanded far more of citizens than passive obedience. It required informed judgment, patience, prudence, and a well-honed sense of national self-preservation.

It has worked—better, frankly, than any of the Founders could have possibly imagined. But there is a catch: Two hundred fifty years later, many of the assumptions upon which the Founders’ careful handiwork rested appear increasingly fragile.

Many of America’s gravest challenges are not external but self-inflicted. They have gradually eroded both our belief in self-governance and our practical capacity to exercise it.

The first challenge is a structural one: the rise of the modern administrative state.

The Constitution established a separation of powers in which laws would be enacted by elected legislators accountable to the people. Beginning most dramatically during the early-20th century presidency of Woodrow Wilson, however, the federal government increasingly delegated legislative, executive, and quasi-judicial authority to sprawling bureaucratic agencies insulated from democratic accountability. This administrative apparatus has steadily transferred decision-making from citizens and their elected representatives to “expert” mandarins whose purported authority rests not in constitutional legitimacy, but in purported technocratic credentialism.

The result is a profound weakening of republican government itself. Citizens increasingly come to view public policy as something administered by Beltway elites rather than determined through iterative deliberation and slow, tough work of constitutional politics. The all-important Tocquevillian sinews of self-government atrophy in both the civic and political spheres. The chasm between disaffected commoner and emboldened elite only grows.

The second challenge arises from a legal culture that increasingly equates constitutional government with judicial supremacy.

Judicial review occupies an important place within our constitutional order. But over time, especially following the Supreme Court’s little-known 1958 decision in Cooper v. Aaron, many Americans came to accept the proposition that constitutional meaning is determined exclusively—and permanently—by the federal judiciary. The constitutionally proper judicial review of Marbury v. Madison (1803) was thus bastardized and subsumed into the oppressive judicial supremacist regime of Cooper.

That regime departs significantly from the Founders’ vision of coordinate constitutional interpretation and statesmanship among all three branches of the national government. More importantly, judicial supremacy encourages civic passivity. If constitutional questions are viewed as matters to be resolved solely and exclusively by the black-robed denizens of Alexander Hamilton’s “least dangerous” branch, then citizens inevitably become spectators rather than participants in constitutional government. And if there were ever a time to reject judicial supremacy and reassert Lincoln’s competing (and correct) understanding of coordinate branch departmentalism, it is now—after Tuesday’s brutal defeat on birthright citizenship.

The third challenge is cultural rather than institutional.

America’s common culture has become increasingly shaped by a relatively small ruling class concentrated within elite universities, major media organizations, entertainment industries, large corporations, and influential philanthropic institutions. Although these institutions differ in many respects, they often share remarkably similar assumptions about politics, history, religion, family, and national identity. The leaders of these institutions, in short, comprise the American ruling class. And the ruling class’s cultural homogeneity produces a widening disconnect between elite opinion and the lived experience of ordinary Americans.

The consequences of that ever-yawning chasm extend beyond partisan disagreement. A healthy republic depends upon a shared culture capable of transmitting common principles across generations. When cultural institutions instead cultivate historical cynicism, civic alienation, or outright contempt for the nation’s constitutional inheritance and the broader civilization from which that inheritance sprang, the institutions vitiate the very habits upon which self-government depends.

Lots of Beheading Attempts Lately, Eh?

The new Europe is going to take some getting used to.

People used to travel to Europe in order to see the Louvre, and the Sistine Chapel, and the Eiffel Tower. Maybe they’d ride in a Venetian gondola, or visit the Normandy beaches, or the Checkpoint Charlie museum in Berlin, or take in any number of other historical and artistic sites all over the continent. But all that is so yesterday, man. The Sistine Chapel, like the Notre Dame Cathedral and so many other churches in Europe, is going to burn. So is the Louvre. The new tourists in Europe are coming because they want to see Islamic law implemented, including the stoning, beheadings, and amputations — the whole nine yards. And these tourists are staying.

Islamic law hasn’t been declared yet in Britain, France, Germany, or Sweden, but some of the newcomers aren’t waiting for the official imposition of Sharia, and have already started gleefully chopping off heads, or trying to do so, as the Qur’an commands. Who are you, O man, to argue with Allah?

The strikers of necks have been particularly active in shattered, staggering, dhimmi Britain. The UK’s Lancashire Telegraph reported Friday that “a man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after armed police attended an incident where a teenage girl was reportedly ‘stabbed in the neck.’” Meanwhile, several days ago in Belfast, a Muslim migrant was caught in the act of trying to saw off the head of someone who had offended him.

Nor is that even close to all. In February in north London, a 13-year-old boy stabbed two other boys, ages 12 and 13, one of them in the neck. As the attacker did his bloody work, he screamed “Allahu akbar”; after he finished stabbing his victims, he fled into a nearby mosque. In Nov. 2025 in Birmingham, England, a woman was seriously injured after being stabbed in the neck in what police called “an unprovoked attack.” In Oct. 2025 in Cathays, a suburb of Cardiff, Wales, a man named Abdul Ali got a sentence of ten years in prison for stabbing a man in the neck and stomach.

Nor is this happening in Britain alone. In France in Sept. 2025, a wheelchair-bound Iraqi Christian was stabbed in the neck and killed while broadcasting live on social media. And last January in Italy, a man of “North African origin” stabbed a priest in the neck as the clergyman walked through Modena’s city center. In the same country more recently, a man named Issam Chlih beheaded a woman, and just in case authorities might have been disposed, as they so often are, to ignore or deny outright the reason why he did it, Chlih went about the beheading while reciting Qur’an verses.

Also in Italy, the Italian-language Firenze Today stated Friday that Issam Chlih, “a 29-year-old homeless Moroccan national,” is “the sole suspect in the murder of Silke Sauer,” who was “a 44-year-old German woman found decapitated near an abandoned farmhouse in the park of the former CNR site in Scandicci.” CNR is the National Research Council, an Italian government agency dedicated to scientific and technological exploration. --->READ MORE HERE

The detention was validated and the precautionary measure was ordered in prison for Issam Chlih, the twenty-nine-year-old Moroccan homeless single suspect in the murder of Silke Sauer. The woman, alsohomeless, a 44-year-old German found beheaded near an abandoned farmhouse in the park of the form CNR area of Scandi

A measure, that of the detention, validated by the gip Roberta di Maria, implemented because of the danger that Chil could escape or repeat the crime. As reported by Ansa, the “brutal” methods of the murder and the personality of the suspect caused the gip to believe that he could turn to people in the country of origin to escape. The manner of the crime and the attempt to clean up the crime scene, according to the judge, highlight “an out-of-the-ordinary criminal pervicacity.”

On the evening of February 16, Issam Chlih and Silke Sauer together were, according to what was rebuilt by the carabinieri, and had made a stop in a bar in Florence near Leopolda station. According to some testimonies, Chlih allegedly shouted nonsense phrases and molested some customers. A steering wheel had intervened on the spot, after the report to 112 by the manager of the bar.

At the arrival of the officers, the two had moved away. Around 5 a.m. on Tuesday 17 February they had returned by tramway to Scandicci. To take them is a video surveillance camera as they walked towards the abandoned. Right near the building they would start arguing. --->READ MORE HERE

Why We Don’t Care That the Amish ‘Don’t Assimilate’:

“Restatement of the obvious has become the first duty of intelligent men.”

Last weekend the X account for podcast superstar Joe Rogan posted thirty seconds of video clips featuring happy Amish families, with the comment, “The Amish basically have no obesity, no infertility, no cancer, no diabetes, no metabolic syndrome. They’re having 10 plus kids and they’re incredibly happy.”
That’s a pretty innocuous statement, if arguable, but it seemed to trigger a self-described “liberal” activist named Joshua Reed Eakle, who retweeted the clips to his 75,000+ followers, with a snarky insinuation obviously directed at Right-wing opponents of mass immigration from societies that refuse to assimilate into the host culture: “Setting aside half the misinformation in this post, the Amish are also clearly a community that refuses to assimilate to American society. And yet no one on the right seems to care. Curious.”

Eakle is hardly a major player worth anyone’s time, but his post did manage to accumulate over four million views as of this writing, and I suspect his comment represents the perspective of “liberals” generally, so it’s worth refuting. As George Orwell once put it, “We have now sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men.” So allow me to lay out the obvious for Josh Eakle and his ilk: why the Right has issues with migrants who refuse to assimilate, but we don’t have a problem with the Amish.

Spoiler alert: contrary to what Eakle was undoubtedly implying (because “liberals” make everything about race in order to demonize their opponents rather than debate the merits of their actual position), the reason has nothing to do with race. The Right doesn’t have a problem with the Amish “not assimilating” not because they’re white, but for the following reasons, which are self-evident to any honest observer:

The Amish are not from a culture that is incompatible with and even hostile to Western civilization. Their beliefs and values may not be wholly mainstream but they are largely Christian, American values.

The Amish don’t have an ideologically supremacist imperative to overthrow the Judeo-Christian, capitalist West and to subdue non-believers.

They don’t fly hijacked planes into the World Trade Center or massacre nightclub patrons.

They don’t behead or knife random non-believers.

They don’t stone adulterers to death or hurl gay people from rooftops.

They don’t view the sexual assault of non-believers as their right.

They don’t establish “Amish Learing Centers” as fronts for defrauding American taxpayers of billions of dollars.

The Amish do have their own communal moral and legal code – the Ordnung (German for “order” or “discipline”) that has historically put them in occasional conflict with federal law: for example, the Ordnung forbids relying on government public assistance. The Amish view this as a failure to trust in God’s providence and a violation of the church’s duty to care for its own elderly and sick, so Congress granted them an official federal exemption to waive their Social Security taxes – which meant the Amish gave up any right to receive future benefits. This is hardly a burden on their fellow taxpayers.

But their default stance is to respect civic authority and pay their taxes. Most importantly, they don’t try to impose the Ordnung on non-believers.
They also don’t view themselves as an oppressed victim class and demand special government privileges. They don’t demand the establishment of prayer rooms in schools, airports, and hospitals or demand that nonbelievers around them participate in their fasting.

There is more, but I rest my case.

I’m sure the Amish have issues of their own as individuals and as a community. They’re human, after all, and fallen, imperfect beings. The point is not that the Amish are a perfect society but that they are not a problem, much less a threat, for their fellow Americans.

Indeed, their neighborliness reaches positively heroic levels. When Hurricane Helene tore through the Southeast and parts of the East Coast in late September 2024, dropping apocalyptic amounts of rainfall on mountain communities and causing massive mudslides and flash floods that completely wiped out historic towns, the government bureaucracy largely failed the affected Americans. The Amish response, by contrast, became a powerful, quiet blueprint for grassroots disaster recovery.
Shortly after the disaster, an influx of Pennsylvania Amish volunteers began traveling down to the hard-hit Appalachian mountain towns. Over the months following the storm, more than 2,000 Amish volunteers rotated in and out of the devastated areas, clearing campgrounds, running drywall, insulating structures, and rebuilding bridges completely free of charge. They provided skilled carpentry, construction labor, and building material without taking a dime. --->READ MORE HERE

New Film Asks If America Can Survive Without Virtue:

A new documentary, The Thread of Liberty: Keeping Our Republic, produced by Ned Ryun, asks viewers whether the American republic can survive if it loses the very thing the Founders believed made self-governance possible. That is, virtue — virtue that stems from religious conviction.

Narrated by Ryun and featuring historians and scholars including Victor Davis Hanson, Larry P. Arnn, and Roger Kimball, and others, the documentary explores the “thread” between liberty, faith, and national character. Rather than treating the Constitution as a self-executing document capable of preserving freedom on its own, the film argues that the Constitution and Declaration depend on a virtuous people who understand that their rights originate not from government, but from God.

The film opens by contrasting our current success with the collapse of all other republics that came before us — a poignant reminder the United States of America is not invincible. Rachel Bovard points to what Alexis de Tocqueville found nearly two centuries ago in Democracy in America, that is, America has this vast network of churches, charities, civic associations and institutions that cultivated habits of responsibility and community. These voluntary institutions allowed Americans to govern themselves, reducing the need for a big government because citizens voluntary acted with the type of virtue required to have ordered liberty.

The documentary argues that these institutions were indispensable to American life and a result of Americans’ virtue that stemmed from religion. But what happens when government co-opts this very role?

Thread of Liberty: Keeping Our Republic explains how the Progressive movement under Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and others steadily shifted the responsibility away from families, churches, local communities, and volunteers and instead toward the federal government. As those institutions because weak, so did the ability to self-govern that those institutions once helped sustain.

Another good moment in the film comes from a part on George Washington’s voluntary surrender of power after the Revolution. After leading the army to victory, Washington resigned his commission and returned home. The movie argues this was the product of virtue Washington possessed because of the virtuous character of the nation because of faith. That is, Washington, like the colonists, believed humans are bound by something higher than political power. If rights come from God, power is temporary and rather meaningless in the grand scheme of things. The movie argues that if we remove that conviction, it becomes more difficult to create leaders who are willing to relinquish power voluntarily — something best exemplified by the rise and growth of the progressive administrative state. --->READ MORE HERE and WATCH THE MOVIE BELOW:

Taken together, Cook and Slaughter reveal a chief justice once again attempting to split the baby between constitutional principle and institutional pragmatism.

Just minutes apart Monday morning, Chief Justice John Roberts handed down two of the most consequential separation-of-powers opinions of the Supreme Court’s October 2025 term.
In one, he overruled one of the New Deal’s foundational precedents and dramatically restored presidential control over the executive branch. In the other, he preserved the independence of the nation’s most powerful economic institution by denying the president authority to remove a Federal Reserve governor at will. Both opinions were written by Roberts. Both relied heavily on history. And taken together, they reveal a chief justice once again attempting to split the baby between constitutional principle and institutional pragmatism.

That pairing was no accident. Roberts effectively invited readers to compare the two decisions. In Trump v. Slaughter, he expressly reserved the question of whether the Federal Reserve occupies a unique constitutional position because of its historical pedigree. Minutes later, in Trump v. Cook, he answered the very question he had left open. The result was a pair of opinions that simultaneously restored presidential authority and preserved one of the last great bastions of institutional independence. The only real question is whether the two opinions can comfortably coexist.

In Slaughter, Roberts wrote one of the strongest defenses of presidential authority in modern Supreme Court history. The opinion is not presented as an expansion of executive power but as a restoration of the Constitution’s original design. Beginning with Article II’s vesting clause, Roberts traces the Constitution’s understanding of executive power through The Federalist Papers, the Decision of 1789, and Myers v. United States. The executive power, he explains, was vested in a single president precisely so the American people would know whom to praise or blame for the execution of federal law. Accountability requires authority. A president who cannot remove those exercising executive power cannot truly be held responsible for how that power is exercised.

From that premise, the rest of Slaughter follows naturally. The Federal Trade Commission today bears little resemblance to the modest expert body described in Humphrey’s Executor in 1935. It writes rules carrying the force of law, investigates violations, prosecutes enforcement actions, and adjudicates disputes. Although writing rules carrying the force of law is a legislative function, and adjudicating disputes is a judicial function (which raises other separation-of-powers concerns), investigating and prosecuting violations are quintessential executive functions.

Roberts therefore concludes that the Constitution simply does not permit Congress to insulate FTC commissioners from presidential removal. In doing so, he finally overrules Humphrey’s Executor, describing it as a precedent whose reasoning has steadily eroded under the court’s later separation-of-powers decisions until it became, in effect, “a result in search of a rationale.”

Standing alone, Slaughter represents the culmination of a constitutional project for which my colleagues at the Claremont Institute and I have been advocating for decades. At the court, success in that project began with Free Enterprise Fund, continued through Seila Law and Collins, and now restores the president’s authority over those exercising executive power.

Then came Cook. The shift in Roberts’ methodology is immediately striking. Gone are the Decision of 1789 and Chief Justice Taft’s opinion in Myers. Instead, Roberts opens with a lengthy history of American central banking. He recounts the Bank of North America, Hamilton’s First Bank of the United States, the Second Bank, Andrew Jackson’s destruction of that institution, the financial panics of the 19th century, and Congress’s eventual creation of the Federal Reserve. Rather than asking only what Article II requires, Roberts asks what America’s constitutional tradition has long accepted.

That history matters because Roberts concludes that the Federal Reserve occupies a unique constitutional position. Like Hamilton’s national bank, the modern Federal Reserve was deliberately insulated from day-to-day political pressure. Its independence, Roberts argues, is not an accidental feature but an essential part of its constitutional pedigree. The president therefore may not simply remove a governor whenever he wishes, and before any removal may occur, the governor is entitled to the procedural protections Congress prescribed. Left unaddressed is Justice Thomas’ thorough rebuke in dissent that the early national banks did not exercise executive authority as the modern Federal Reserve does.

Roberts certainly has a historical point, though one that largely begs the constitutional question. The founders understood the dangers of politically manipulated monetary policy. Hamilton himself insisted that public confidence in a national bank required independence from immediate political pressures. Roberts demonstrates that concern did not originate with the New Deal but reaches back to the earliest years of the republic.

Yet that is precisely where the constitutional tension emerges. If Slaughter is correct that Article II requires presidential control over those exercising executive power, why is the Federal Reserve different? Roberts’ answer is history. The dissenters’ answer, each in a different way, is that history alone cannot overcome constitutional structure.

Justice Thomas’ dissent appears to pose the most fundamental challenge. Once Humphrey’s Executor is gone, he asks, what constitutional principle permits this remaining island of independence? If Federal Reserve governors are appointed under Article II, exercise significant governmental authority, and are removable only by the president, why are they not subject to the same constitutional rule Roberts had announced only minutes earlier? Thomas presses Roberts’ own premises to their logical conclusion: If Article II means what Slaughter says it means, there is no Federal Reserve exception. --->READ MORE HERE
