Lets start off with a 9 foot 6 inch spider. This was actually the last thing I thought of building. But this is definitely the coolest thing I made. It was actually really simple. It is only made out of 1/4″ plywood and 2″x2″s.

This jack-o-lantern was actually my first inspiration for my Halloween decorations. Those pointed teeth were a last minute thing which I don’t think I could have done without. This is just made out of 5/8″ MDF, really easy.

Of course you have to have a ghost, right? This was also made out of 5/8″ MDF and then covered in some tattered cheese cloth to make it a little more ghostly. I also cut a hole out for the neighborhood kids to put their faces in and “SPOOK” anyone they can.

This is just to show everyone that you can build just about anything with some cheap wood, a good idea, some inspiration, and a little bit of time. I hope you can use this as your inspiration for easy homemade decorations. Come back around Christmas to see some more!

This is a book shelf I made for a customer recently. It has an adjustable middle shelf and a little cubbie on the front for some extra book storage. It stands at 36″ tall, 30″ wide, and 12″ deep. I also made another shelf for this same customer that has the opposite dimensions, 30″ tall, 36″ wide, and is 14″ deep instead of 12″. The painting process is not quite complete but I will put up an updated picture as soon as it is. Here it is below without paint.

I also make them without the front cubbie. The only difference is these two are both 12″ deep. The height and width dimensions are still the same as the earlier two bookshelves.

This bunk bed was made out of redwood for the most part and pine for the ladders. It fits two standard size crib mattresses. I made this for my children a number of years ago. So in a couple of weeks you will see it modified since they are beginning to grow out of it, literally.

Today (May 25th 2011) I woke up and decided to make this shelf. I guess I thought I would make an unfinished shelf for all of those with a love for that rustic log cabin look. It is made out of pine and is 48″ long and 7 1/2″ deep. It mounts to the wall with 3 provided wall anchors & screws.

Today (May 21st 2011) I finished my newest rack, which I think I might love more than any of my others. Not only is it half of the weight of most of my racks, but is also twice as strong. Granted it costs a little more to make because of the material, but I think it is definitely worth it. I think I might be able to park my civic on top of this thing. Here are couple more angles so you can get the full aspect of the rack. I was going for an old weathered driftwood look. Did I nail it? Or did I nail it?

I actually think I might start building all of my racks like this. Not necessarily with a stain but definitely out of this material and with this design. If you like it you can always get one from my Etsy shop, made to order, any color you want.

Here is another of Riley’s Workshops latest creations. This shelf is designed to fit right on top of any of our clothes racks with no assembly or hardware required and yet it is as sturdy as the clothes rack itself. Much like all of the items you will find here this shelf can be made in any color or size. You can simply request what ever you desire at the point of purchase. Without this where will you put all of your hats and scarfs?

I have made a couple of mirrors over the past months. This one was for my niece. She was very excited to get it, although I think I might have had the most fun with it by making it.

Here was another mirror which is similar to the pink one above. The customer that purchased this mirror was also purchasing a clothes rack so I matched the feet of the mirror to the feet of the clothes rack. I was very happy with how this mirror turned out especially the legs and feet.

Good looking legs huh? The finish on this came out so clean you almost couldn’t even tell this was made out of wood.

This particular mirror can hang either horizontally or vertically depending on preference. The customer requested it to be unfinished, sorry I don’t have a picture of it finished.

What little girl doesn’t need a vanity that can be moved from place to place. This way the purse is a little more empty so you can find all of your things with ease.

What little boy doesn’t love dump trucks? My son insisted I make him one, so I did. It was a little more work than I had originally anticipated but I think it came out pretty sick if I do say so myself.

Fully functional of course. The only thing I should have added was a hydraulic piston to dump the load. Maybe next time I’ll do that. I am actually amazed it is still intact today. He has had it for about a year and he is not gentle with it. It has had some maintenance done but nothing to major.

Of course it could not end with the dump truck. An excavator is essential in earth moving.

And of course it is fully functional. What was surprising to me about this excavator is that it has held together better than the dump truck. I figured with all of the movement this thing has it would have more problems, but that was not the case.

Of course you must have a tank. Again a very fun toy to make which has held together very well and gets a lot of use.

Seen here is our most popular shelf which also has a rod for hanging whatever garments you wish, such as towels or quilts. It mounts easily with 3 wall anchors and screws which are included. Weight on top of this shelf is not going to be an issue since each provided wall anchor is capable of supporting 50 pounds. Here are a couple of examples of its use.

As you can see on top of the shelf there is plenty of room for several items and the rod is 38 1/2″ long giving plenty of room for whatever you want to hang on it.

Here is another shelf that has a little more depth to it just in case you want to put some entertainment equipment on top of it. There isn’t a rod on this particular shelf but there could easily be if it is requested.

A fireplace without a mantle is not a very pretty site. Luckily that can be easily fixed with some wood, some molding, and a little bit of time. Very easy to install if you have some basic tools and of course some handy blood cells running through your veins.

This is Riley’s Workshops bread & butter. Not only do I love to build these but they are beautiful, functional, and everyone that has bought one has had nothing but great things to say about them. This is the latest edition to the clothes racks. If your daughter is hanging up her dress up clothes chances are she has a lot of hats and scarfs and necklaces to go with those dress up clothes right? This shelf helps to organize those items (I am a little anal when it comes to being organized). The beauty of this shelf is that it requires no hardware, just slip it on top of your clothes rack and you’re done, yet it is as sturdy as the clothes rack itself.

This isn’t the best picture to use but it is the only one I have and I just had to put this one on here. You would think that painting something all black would be a piece of cake right? Wrong! I think I painted this thing 3 times. It kicked my butt over and over and over. I will never paint another clothes rack black, so if you are the one that bought this one, congratulations you will own the only one on the planet.

This is my newest, lightest, and strongest clothes rack. The beauty of this new and improved design is that instead of 6 screws (which was already pretty simple) this rack only needs 4 and it is twice as strong as my previous design. It was inspired by a customer and will definitely be in the inventory in the future for a long time to come.
