How to Make a Hex Coin Ring!

We’ve featured a post on how to make a coin ring before, here’s another great article showing you how to make a hex coin ring out of coins of course.

Step 1. This whole process can be done with a hammer, an anvil, and a 3/8″ bolt and nut. A more complete list of tools are as follows: Hammer, Anvil, 3/8″ bolt/nut, Drill bit or uni-bit or dremel, 220 grit sandpaper, silver polish compound, drill, clean rag for polishing.

I made myself a small rig for this project so i could easily hold and rotate the coin, but this is not a must.

You’ll also need to find a pre 1965 half dollar. 1964 was the last year for 90+% U.S. coins.

Start by lightly hitting the coin on the edge and then rotating the coin using the hex nut as a guide for how far to rotate.

For those of you who want to make a custom platinum diamond engagement ring yourself, there’s actually a way using wax to mold your custom designs.

Chris Parry, a professional jeweler, has revealed his method over at Instructables.com.

This certainly ain’t for the faint-hearted but for those of you who have the right tools, you might be able to get a custom design just in time for your anniversary or proposal.

This instructable shows you how his ring was created using the lost wax casting system.

To begin with I cut a section of jewellers wax, ( a special wax that has great properties for cutting, sawing and carving) into the basic ring shape. I created a hole the same size required for the finished ring.

The only time I’d wear these weird fly rings are if I was dressed as a zombie for Halloween. Nevertheless, here they are. I imagine you could make your own fly rings for really cheap.
