More car clubs face insolvency

Recently we have seen several car clubs face bankruptcy for a multitude of reasons primarily the economic downturn. The recently established Seagrave club along with many others simply fell by the wayside, those individuals who had started these businesses had not perhaps realised the unforeseen costs involved which may have been a contributory factor to their failure. All of these clubs were well known to RIO, even the long established P1 has fell victim to this markets current position. P1 as most know has subsequently slid in to possible bankruptcy.

Our club took stern measures during 2008 which included the dramatic downsizing our off site promotional activities. As motor enthusiasts know each year RIO attends almost all large motor shows as exhibitors, however these venues are costly and are attended on the basis of the assessed possible returns from such promotions. The Risk reward ratios have significantly increased and as such RIO Prestige will not attend the Goodwood festival of speed nor Goodwood revival this year these shows were marginally profitable, we have also cut Top Gear Live Birmingham from our calendar and as such we have reduced capital expenditure on events by 75% and shaved over £100,000 from annual operating costs. We took the decision in October 2008 following a valuation on business generated as a result of printed media advertising the results of this study has led to a cut in printed advertising in magazines such as Top Gear by two thirds during 2009 and in doing so reduced marketing spend by a further £35,000.

The club have decided to focus on mega venues such as Top Gear Live London and Salon Prive both of which have always produced exceptional results this tactic has reduced risk reward ratios that in today’s market are currently unpalatable. To date the actions taken have been proven to be prudent.

As always Rio Prestige and RPM club market their services at both car shows and other venues throughout the UK. 2008 was the biggest ever show attendance where we displayed at MPH London, MPH Birmingham, Salon Privee, Goodwood festival of speed, Goodwood revival to name but a few. This year we have cut back because we've chosen instead to concentrate on the main venues. These venues have been proven to generate the most interest and more importantly produce business.

The venues we are exhibiting at are listed below in chronological order:-

North of Scotland Car Show (Aberdeen Exhibition Centre) - Sunday 31st of May 2009

Rio have exhibited at this event once before and as such were invited to attend as special guests of the orginisers this year. Even if this promotional opportunity is the smallest venue in our calendar its important to us because Rio have a strong presence in this region. The company has became a household name in the north east and will always take the opportunity to promote their services to an already established market.

Aberdeen is the oil capital of Europe and is an ideal place to captivate both local and international business, history has shown that our years of marketing in this area has led to this becoming a primary area of business for RIO.

We brought our now famous Zonda (featured in the BBC Apprentice) to the venue which as usual drew a crowd on the day to the satisfaction of the event promotors.

Importantly, Rio's attendance at this event resulted in several confirmed hires as a direct result of the exibit which has made the event profitable already. We are also likley to supply vehicles for two wedding enquiries received on the day which would generate further revenue for the company.

Salon Privee - Hurlingham Club London - 22nd 24th of June 2009

Now in its fourth year, Salon Privé is the UK’s ultimate Super Car Event and Concours d’Elégance. The three day event offers a unique opportunity to see the most exotic modern and vintage super cars in the world, with the exquisite and exclusive Hurlingham Club as a backdrop.

If you visit the Salon Privee site you will quite clearly see that our cars are displayed at the previous event. The Rio hyper cars are feature strongly and are as main attraction for visitors to this event.

This will be the second year that we attend this show, we will be showing the Zonda and two other hypercars to this venue, perhaps the Bugatti Veyron and the Gumpert Apollo will join us on the day. Our members are again invited to join us at the event free of charge; we have obtained tickets for this purpose. This year we also have two tables for two out of the three night dinners and have 20 seats to fill for evening dinner. This year is said to be by meteorologists, a long hot summer. With that in mind this could be a very success show both in numbers of attendance and as history has shown, revenue recieved at the event, after all Britain unfortunately doesn't share the same climate as the south of France or Italy.

MPH Top Gear Live - London - 5th to 8th of November 2009

Rio is no stranger to this event, this will be our fourth appearance at this venue. Last year our stand with the Bugatti, Zonda and Koenigseigg lead to the London TV news being filmed from our stand much to the surprise to some manufactures like Jaguar / Lamborghini who had spent hundreds of thousands of pounds dressing their stand. Rio's stand didn't cost anything close to this, to draw a comparison, some women can dress up as much as they like but they won't attract much of a crowd, with three legendary thoroughbreds on our stand we had to fence off the stand and put into place policing to stop people climbing onto the stand.

As always we are one of the main attractions of the show, this can easily been seen by the amount of visitors to our stand, it was so busy we completely ran out of literature on day 2! We gave out 5000 brochures in only two days. Our director commented that by the beginning of day two he had a sore throat and was unable to talk much more, for anyone who knows our Director, they will understand how busy it must have been!

Again, as with all events we invite members to attend the show free of charge, we have tickets for admission and tickets for the Top Gear live show, members are open to invite guests.

One of the great things of this show is we have seen a steady increase of hires taken at the event even although we have cut back on expenditure due to the UK economy in 2009, we felt very strongly that we must attend this venue as over 100,000 people pass though this area, many of which are car fanatics. We feel the cost of the venue will be quickly recouped and will keep our name in the forefront of the media.

Again, our Director will be attending the event leaving the sunny climate of the far east to ensure everything runs smoothly and to answer any questions directly.

We intend to have a surprise car at this event, so watch this space!

Audi RS4 Hire

The Audi RS4 Hire feels special as soon as the start button is pressed. An amazing engine is at the heart of this car’s appeal. It fires into life with a glorious V8 rumble, and sounds great on the move too – especially when you hit the Sports button. This livens up throttle response, enhances the exhaust note and also squeezes the sides of the seat to grip you! However, even without it, the AUDI RS4 Hire delivers muscular low-down grunt; its 430Nm torque figure is substantial. A power output of 414bhp puts it on a level footing with BMW’s M3. And while the Audi doesn’t have the mechanical hard edge of the BMW, we think it sounds just as good. It has a slick six-speed manual gearbox too, with an inertia-free drivetrain. The Quattro transmission gives excellent traction, of course, and also helps the AUDI RS4 Hire be second only to the R8 Hire in all-time driver’s cars from Audi. Through corners, there’s a suppleness to the suspension (fitted with an active set-up as standard) that does translate into a little body movement. There’s a touch of understeer near the limit too – but don’t be mistaken, it’s always incredibly involving to drive. A-to-B pace on winding B-roads is awesome. Yet all this ability is also coupled to effortless day-to-day manners, too. The AUDI RS4 Hire strikes the perfect compromise.

Thursday 27 November - Sir Jackie Stewart was presented with an honorary doctorate today by the University of St.Andrews in recognition of his outstanding contribution to motorsport. Rio Prestige were honored to provide him with an Aston Martin for a lap of honour in the University grounds, which was met with great enthusiasm by the other graduates and assembled TV crews and press. Rio Chairman William Gray commented that it was a pleasure to honour a fellow Scot and motoring enthusiast in this way.

Development of this vehicle began with the 1999. Volkswagen chairman Ferdinand Piëch announced the production Veyron at the 2000 Geneva Motor Show. It was promised to be the fastest, most powerful, and most expensive car in history. Instead of the W18, the production model would use a VR6/WR8-style W16 engine. First seen in the 1999 Bentley Hunaudières concept car, the W16 would get four turbochargers, producing a quoted (metric) 1001 horsepower (see engine section for details on the power output). Top speed was promised at 407 km/h (253 mph), and pricing was announced at €1 million.

Development continued throughout 2001 and the EB 16/4 Veyron was promoted to "advanced concept" status. In late 2001, Bugatti announced that the car, officially called the "Bugatti Veyron 16.4", would go into production in 2003. The car, however, experienced significant problems during development. Achieving the required high-speed stability was difficult - one prototype was destroyed in a crash and another spun out during a public demonstration at the Monterey Historics event in Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca. Production of the Veyron was delayed pending resolution of these and other issues.

Piëch retired that year as chairman of the Volkswagen Group and was replaced by Bernd Pischetsrieder. The new chairman promptly sent the Veyron back to the drawing board for major revisions. Neumann was replaced as Bugatti president by Thomas Bscher in December 2003, and substantial modifications were made to the Veyron under the guidance of former VW engineer, Bugatti Engineering head Wolfgang Schreiber.

JAMES BOND 007 is Back October 31ST

Quantum of Solace (2008) is the 22nd James Bond film by EON Productions, due for release in the United Kingdom on 31 October 2008. The sequel to the film Casino Royal, it is directed by Marc Forster, and features Daniel Craig's second performance as James Bond 007. In the film, 007 battles Dominic Greene, a member of the Quantum organization posing as an environmentalist, he intends to stage a coup in Bolivia to take control of its water supply. Bond seeks revenge for the death of Vesper Lynd, and is assisted by Camille, who also wants to kill Greene.

Producer Michael G. Wilson created the film's plot while Casino Royal was shooting. Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Paul Haggis and Joshua Zetumer contributed to the script. The title was chosen from an unrelated 1960 short story in Ian Fleming's For Your Eyes Only. Location filming took place in Panama, Chile, Rome and Austria, while the sets were built at Pinewood Studios. Forster aimed to make the film more modern yet classic: antique planes were used for a dogfight sequence, while Dennis Gassner's set designs are reminiscent of Ken Adam's work on several early Bond films, yet Forster rejected a grotesque appearance for Greene to comment on the hidden nature of the film's corporate villains.

Spyker to build road going version of GT2 Le Mans Car

the road version of its GT2 LeMans car. The Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85 will be built as a limited edition of 24 units maximum, and will be available in both left and right hand drive. Production of the LM85 commences this quarter.

Zeewolde, 15 September 2008 - Spyker Cars N.V., manufacturer of exclusive premium sports cars, proudly presents the Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85

The LM85 is an advanced mid-engine, two-seat sports car. It is characterized by a lightweight all aluminium body construction and an uncompromising engineering package. The powertrain of the LM85 is the all aluminium Audi 4.2 Litre V8 engine producing 400 bhp. This is paired to a manual six-speed Getrag gearbox, driving the rear wheels with a Drexler limited slip differential. ABS is standard. The use of aluminium parts and other lightweight materials results in an impressive power-to-weight ratio and underlines the GT2 racing heritage of the car.

Exterior

Based on the Spyker C8 Laviolette GT2R, the racing characteristics of the LM85 are numerous, such as the all aluminium chassis, GT2 livery (Burnt Almond Orange with Gun Metal ‘S’ logo), side mirrors in body colour, a carbon fibre rear spoiler, and GT2 windscreen streamer. Behind the black powder coated alloy wheels, black AP Racing 6 piston brake calipers with AP Racing logo appear. The LM85 can optionally be equipped with Le Mans sticker sets as well as a customised LM85 car cover.

Interior

The ample use of black leather and alcantara, which is originally meant to reduce light reflection during racing, has been finished with orange contrast stitching and characterizes the unique interior of the LM85. The dashboard instrument panel is made of turned aluminium. Each car will feature a personalised LM85 serial plaque. On request, Chronoswiss dials and switches can be installed and are virtually identical to the Chronoswiss 24Hours Pilot Watch every LM85 owner receives with his car. The black floor mats are made of fire protective material, finished with orange piping and the LM85 logo embroidered.

Extra features

As mentioned above, every LM85 owner receives a special edition Spyker Chronoswiss 24H Pilot Watch with orange crocodile strap. The serial number of the car will be engraved on the case of this exquisite time piece. Additionally, all LM85 owners are offered an exclusive Spyker VIP Hospitality weekend at the 24H of Le Mans in 2009.

RIO Aston Stars in RnB Video

Rio provided our Aston Martin V8 Vantage to MC Harvey and RnB Star Nathan for use in their new video for "If I was your man" which is released in October 2008. The Black Aston V8 Vantage stars in the video and can be seen under the famous Forth Rail Bridge at Night and also crossing the Road Bridge in another scene.

The video was shot in and around Edinburgh and Features Aml Ameen www.amlameen.com who is famous for his roles in Kidulthood and as PC Lewis Hardy in The Bill.

The song which is released October 2008 can be heard HERE, This will be replaced by the full video soon.

MC Harvey MC Harvey Official who was a member of The So Solid Crew and was a contestant in The Games was a pleasure to work with as was Nathan (Nathan Official) who released his album Masterpiece in October 2006 and Appeared in Bigbrother Celebrity Hijack and Aml who will be appearing in Silent Witness soon.

Supercar Sunday at Knockhill

This weekend Knockhill wil host Supercar Sunday and Rio Prestige will be there with our 1961 Ferrari Testarossa Le Mans Car with its stunning shark nosed Fantuzzi body. Our car will also be joined by classics such as the Ferrari F50, Ferrari F40 and possibly an Enzo Ferrari, There will also be track action from a wide variety of Supercars including a Porsche 944 with blue wheels piloted by our GM Edward Legge (it will probably be parked in the kitty litter at CARLUBE or the REAL Radio Hairpin after practising his lift off oversteer). Culzean Autoclassica - 22 - 24th August

Rio Prestige will be displaying at the Culzean Autoclassic between 22 and 24th August

The creation of a new major International motoring event to be held at one of Scotlands finest locations.

The Culzean Autoclassica will be an annual event and be exclusively aimed at all forms of vehicular transport.

Particular emphasis will be towards top (or significant) marques from the historic, vintage, classic sports, racing and grand touring categories through to modern prestigious sports and performance cars.

It will be not only an occasion for the owners, clubs and enthusiasts to gather together in a spirit of fun and friendshipbut also an opportunity for manufacturers, dealers and the service and lifestyle providers who form part of the auto movement to meet with their clients, both old and new in superb informal surroundings for mutual enjoyment and benefit.

The Culzean Autoclassica will adopt a traditional theme for the event capturing the magnificence and unique ambience of Culzean Castle. Participants will encouraged to enter into the spirit of the event by dressing in period costume reflecting their particular era of transport. Attending visitors will be offered ticketing incentives to also arrive in similar state.

Auto heritage will be in evidence throughout the event and our trade exhibitors will be invited to consider promoting their enclosures and stands appropriately. The organisers will be pleased to offer help when ever possible to major exhibitors and sponsors by assisting in sourcing suitable display vehicles and perhaps memorabilia to compliment their own product displays.

Goodwood Revival 19th - 21st Sept

Rio Prestige will be attending Goodwood with our 1961 TR 250 and possibly an additional classic.

The Goodwood Revival is one of the world’s most popular classic motor race meetings and is the only event of its kind to be staged in a throwback to the 1950s and 60s. As well as recreating the golden era of motor sport, the Goodwood Revival offers amazing bumper to bumper racing around a stunningcircuit.

The Revival captures the glory of Goodwood Motor Circuit as it was, which stood alongside Silverstone as the UKs leading motor racing venue during its peak years between 1948 and 1966. At this time, it hosted racing of all kinds, including F1, the famous Goodwood 9Hrs race and the TT sports car race.

Now, for 3 days each September, the circuit plays host to a historic race event for the kind of motorvehicles that would have graced the Goodwood circuit during 50s and 60s. Many memorable classic racing cars are driven by famous faces from motor racing now and then. The RAF Leuchars Charity Golf Day, will again be held at Drumoig Golf & Leisure Resort.

Participants begin the day with coffee/tea and bacon roll on arrival before commencing 18 holes of golf. This is followed by a Golfers Meal, prize giving, raffle and auction. RAF Leuchars chosen Charity is the Scottish Motor Neurone Disease Association (SMNDA). Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive disabling and fatal muscle wasting disease that can affect any adult. Last year the SMNDA received less than £10,000 funding from the NHS. The services that the SMNDA provide cost more than £650,000 a year.

Audi warn of vehicle price increase

Audi’s chief executive, Rupert Stadler has warned that Audi may need to increase its vehicle prices to counter the ever increasing cost of materials and technological advance.

In an interview with the FT, Stadler confirmed that Audi would consider a price rise if current economic trends continued, and dependant on what Audi’s competitors did.

Price rises are likely to be seen in 2009.

With vehicle prices and road taxes guaranteed to rise due to EU Environmental taxes levied on vehicles with high CO2 emissions by 2011, Rio Prestige confidently predict a rise in the volume of drivers who seek to enjoy supercars through car hire companies and clubs. It is estimated that the “tailpipe tax” on a Porsche Cayenne in 2012 will be approaching £7000.

McNish / Kristensen / Capello triumph at Le Mans

After a titanic battle with the Peugeot 908 of Jacques Villeneuve and team, Audi won yet another Le Mans victory in their diesel powered R10.

Despite the Peugeot's ability to ultimately post quicker lap times, the Audi's better fuel economy, quicker pit stops and superior performance in the wet ensured that Scotsman McNish's Audi was able to keep a 1 lap buffer between them and the chasing Peugeot. Changeable weather conditions and more frequent fuel stops prevented the 908 from building a significant lead, and even a colllision between the #2 Audi and #32 Zytek late in the race could not deny Audi the victory in what was a tremendously close and exciting race.

The team at Rio Prestige would like to congratulate Nish on a famous victory that sees him firmly established in the racing drivers hall of fame with fellow Scots such as Jackie Stewart, Jim Clark, Dario Franchitti, Colin Macrae and David Coulthard.

Beware of imitations

Some of RIO Prestige's unscrupulous competitors are trying to cash in on the buzz surrounding last night's episode of The Apprentice by suggesting they have the cars from the programme.

The RIO Prestige supercars featured on The Apprentice are back where it all happened

The stunning supercars featured on last night's episode of The Apprentice will be on display in Canary Wharf, London, on Thursday May 29 as part of a special charity event - 'You're Hired!'

The ultra-rare Pagani Zonda C12s and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster the Apprentice candidates were tasked with hiring out will be in Reuters Plaza throughout the day, and members of the public will have the chance to buy tickets for a charity draw to win a luxury weekend spent with the cars - with all proceeds going to the serviceman's charity Help for Heroes. RIO Prestige has previously raised funds for Help for Heroes by racing against Royal Air Force fighter jets in March 2008.

Two teams of RIO Prestige staff will go head to head in a bid to see which one can sell the most tickets for charity. RIO Prestige general manager Edward Legge said, "This is a great opportunity for fans of The Apprentice and of supercars in general to see these amazing cars close up, while also helping one of the most deserving charities in the country. Supercar Charity Auction for SBAAT

Rio Prestige supports the Scottish Business Achievement Awards Trust with a donation to their charity auction

Two of the world’s most exotic supercars went on show today at a prestigious business event.

A yellow Lamborghini Gallardo and black Spyker C8 Spyder, with a combined value of £340,000, were on display at Dundas Castle, near South Queensferry, outside Edinburgh. The cars were on show to the 550 guests at the Scottish Business Achievement Awards Trust’s (SBAAT) annual celebration of Scottish entrepreneurship.

The Princess Royal was among those at the event, attended by some of the country’s leading business figures.

The supercars were present to promote one of the lots available in the charity auction. Livingston-based firm Rio Prestige donated a package worth over £10,000 to be sold off, which included a weekend’s experience in supercar, a stay in a luxury hotel and a year-long membership to an exclusive supercar club.

Founded in 1982, SBAAT has raised over £2.7 million for Scottish charities, as well as recognising achievement and promoting excellence in business. The 2008 shortlist for the competition included eight individuals competing in three categories - young achievement, international and major achievement.

Six supercars in one day - can you handle it?

RIO Prestige Supercar Days offer unbeatable value for money, allowing drivers to experience six of the world's greatest cars over 200 miles of the very best roads in the UK.

The trip starts and finishes at the world famous Forth Bridge – gateway to the Highlands - and winds it’s way through the farmland, glens and mountain passes of Perthshire, past some of Scotland’s most famous landmarks.

The day begins with coffee and a bite to eat at the Dakota Forth Bridge Hotel. Drivers will be fully briefed on safety and the route before being familiarised with the cars - the Spyker C8 Spyder, Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 360, Porsche 911 Carrera 2S, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and TVR Tuscan.

Ferrari F430 Self Drive Hire

The Ferrari F430 is a high-performance supercar produced by the Italian manufacturer Ferrari to succeed the Ferrari 360. It debuted at the 2004 Paris Motor Show. European left-hand drive sales began in November 2004, but right-hand drive sales did not start until Spring 2005, and the North American market did not get the F430 until Summer 2005.

The body has been redesigned to be more curvaceous and aerodynamic. Although the drag coefficient remains the same, down force has been greatly enhanced. A great deal of Ferrari heritage is found in the car: at the rear, the Enzo's tail lights and interior vents have been added. The car's name has been etched into the TR-styled driver's side mirror. The large oval openings in the front bumper are reminiscent of Ferrari racing models from the 60s, specifically the 250 TR61 Le Mans cars of Phil Hill

Along with a restyled body, the F430 features a 4.3 L V8 petrol engine derived from a shared Ferrari/Maserati design. This new power plant is a significant departure for the F430's line: The engines of all previous V8 Ferraris were descendants of the Dino racing program of the 1950s. This fifty year development cycle comes to an end with the entirely new 4.3 L, the architecture of which is expected to replace the Dino-derived V12 in most other Ferrari cars.

The brakes on the F430 were designed in close collaboration with Brembo. The result has been a new cast-iron alloy for the discs. The new alloy includes molybdenum which has better heat dissipation performance. Another option Ferrari is providing are carbon-ceramic discs. Ceramics have much higher resistance to heat and brake fade than metals, the F430's brakes offer not only good performance but also a longer lifespan. Ferrari claims the brakes will not fade even after 300-350 laps at their test track.

Car and Driver magazine found the car's performance worthy of the Ferrari heritage, and recorded a 3.5 sec 0-60 mph acceleration run in the F430 This makes it the third-quickest Ferrari road car ever made, after the Enzo Ferrari and the 599 GTB. That being said, the 3.5 second 0-60 run was made on a European spec car, which has launch control, a feature designed to help launch the car from a standing start at high RPMs. Much like the E-Diff and the manettino, the launch control is a technology borrowed from Ferrari's Formula 1 racing program. The launch control is unavailable in U.S.-spec F430s, presumably due to liability issues. The U.S.-spec F430 can do a 3.6 0-60.

On the BBC Top Gear TV show, shown on the 17 July 2005, The Stig achieved a Power Lap time of 1:22.9. While the lap time was 0.89 seconds less than a Lamborghini Murciélago, the F430 was slower than the 360 Challenge Straddle at 1:22.3. The slower lap was blamed on the F430's Bridgestone tires supposedly having fewer grip than the Challenge Straddle’s Pirellis.

Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson has commented on the F430's handling being absolutely brilliant, a marked improvement over the 360; he claimed that Ferrari holds that "even the most butter-fingered, incapable driver could drive the F430 around their test track only one second slower than the most skilled test driver". He has in fact proclaimed, on more than one occasion, that the Ferrari F430 is "just about the best car I've ever driven", a status he previously attributed to the F355 (but never the 360).

The original design vision for the Gallardo was created in the year 2000 and this vision continues with the ”open” version.

The Roof

The roof raising/lowering system of the Gallardo Spyder is based on an electronic control system with electrohydraulic actuators. The roof raising/lowering mechanism is extremely simple to operate by way of two push-buttons on the centre of the dashboard. And the whole operation takes just over 20 seconds.

The rear screen moves automatically while the roof is being opened or closed. This automatically-controlled movement always returns the screen to the raised position. The driver can also choose to have the screen in the lowered position (also with the roof raised) by pressing the appropriate button on the dashboard. There is also a "service function" that positions the roof so as to allow access to the engine.

Gallardo Spyder Engine and Performance

The new Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder features a number of important modifications to the original engine and transmission from the Coupe. The 10-cylinder 4961 cc propulsion unit now develops 520 bhp at 8,000 rpm. The six-speed gearbox now has lower ratios (1st gear is 27% lower, 2nd gear is 13%, 3rd / 4th / 5th gears are all 6% lower, while 6th gear is 3.5% lower), which create a more dynamic performance.

The steering is also more direct and precise and the suspension has been recalibrated.

Like the other models in the range, the Gallardo Spyder also benefits from aluminum bodywork and features permanent four-wheel drive.

This very well-presented and imposing Ferrari Testa Rossa/61 is powered by a front-mounted 4-litre V12 cylinder engine driving via a 4-speed and overdrive manual gearbox and it has been built up since 2000 using all restored, renovated, and fabricated sun-assemblies – the majority derived from a Ferrari 330GT 2-plus-2 donor vehicle whose chassis serial now identifies this impressive tribute to the 1961-season works sports-racing prototype.

The car was assembled for its late owner, a prominent, highly respected and long-serving member of the FIA Historic Commission. He entrusted specialist engineer Magnus Ahlqvist of the Swedish Motorima company to create this Testa Rossa/61 replica, and what was originally the factory-crafted bodywork of this entirely distinctive model was created with close reference to copies of the original drawings.

The modified and re-tuned 330GT 4-litre V12-cylinder engine develops close to 300bhp, and the completed car weighs less than one ton – 950 kilogrammes being claimed for it. The body panelling is in fact hand-made and finished in overall 1.25-1.5mm thick aluminium-alloy sheet, and since its completion this wonderfully evocative – and most attractively road-useable – Ferrari sports-spyder has carried Swedish road registration. The car is therefore EU registered.

The original Ferrari Testa Rossa/61 model emerged in what many tipped to be the final season of open-cockpit sports-prototype racing. The governing FIA was intent upon substituting a GT closed-car World Championship for the old Sports Car competition, and only four springtime sports car classics were confirmed on the 1961 racing calendar – the Sebring 12-Hours, the Targa Florio, Nurburgring 1,000Kms and Le Mans 24-Hour race. Another followed, at Pescara in Italy.

At the Maranello factory chief engineer Chiti had installed a wind tunnel, in which he developed a new body shape for the 1961 cars, with long, pointed nostril nose, high rear deck and truncated transom tail. Initially a headrest fin was featured, reminiscent of the D-Type Jaguar. The cars were based upon multi-tubular spaceframe chassis with all-independent suspension. The 3-litre V12 engine was set well back and low in the frame and drove via a five-speed transmission inherited from the preceding TRI/60 model.

In period only two of the original works Ferrari TR/61 cars were built new – after 1960 chassis ‘0780’ had been re-developed as a prototype for the new model. The true TR/61s were chassis ‘0792’ with nostril nose and transom tail, and its sister ‘0794’ – both initially completed in January 1961. Only the first car was pressed into almost immediate service, being entered in the Sebring 12-Hours classic in Florida in which it won handsomely, co-driven by Phil Hill and Olivier Gendebien. For the fourth consecutive year a Ferrari Testa Rossa had won the opening World Championship-status sports car race of a new season, vindicating the Italian company’s policy of “get them built and tested” well in advance. The Sebring-winning car later reappeared in the Le Mans 24-Hours classic, in which it was crewed by the Rodriguez brothers – Pedro and Ricardo – and was forced into retirement by engine failure.

The second TR/61 made its racing debut at Le Mans, in which it was driven to yet another victory by Phil Hill/Olivier Gendebien. It was sold post-race to Luigi Chinetti – Ferrari’s legendary American importer – and it was campaigned by Pedro Rodriguez in the Canadian sports car Grand Prix (2nd), it won the Governor’s Trophy race at Nassau, Bahamas, and finished third there in the Nassau Trophy race.

This is a most impressive Ferrari V12 reproducing what is regarded by many knowledgeable enthusiasts as being the most outstanding expression of front-engined works car beauty ever to emerge from the legendary Maranello factory. We recommend the closest inspection, and consideration.

TIMES ARTICLE FROM 1961

The twenty-ninth Le Mans 24- hour race was, as many had expected, dominated-albeit with changing fortunes-by Ferraris, which filled the first three places. The winning car was driven by P. Hill, of the United States, and 0. Gendebien, of Belgium, and covered a distance of 2,782.2 miles at an average speed of 115.89 m.p.h., which is the fastest at which the race has been won. Another factory-entered Ferrari, driven by NV. Mairesse (Belgium) and M. Parkes (Britain), Was second, and the privately entered grand touring saloon of P. Noblet and J. Guichet came third. The challenge from the Maseratis failed to materialize and the highest placed car of this make, driven by A. Pabst and R. Thomson, finished fourth, 22 laps behind the leader.

GALLANT EFFORT

A gallant effort by R. Salvadori and A. Maggs in their Aston Martin kept the British colours flying for much of the race. They were lying fourth when forced to retire with a leaking petrol tank soon after 10 o'clock this morning. The team of three Triumphs finished ninth (the highest placed British car), eleventh and fifteenth. The Sunbeam driven by P. Proctor and P. Harper, which was sixteenth overall, also won the index of thermal efficiency. The race began beneath a heavily over- cast sky, with a suggestion of rain already in the air. As the flag fell, J. Clark repeated the excellent start he made last year and was across the road and away before many had reached their cars.His lead, however, was short-lived. At the end of thefirst lap it was the red Ferraris of R. Ginther and Gendebien which were the first to appear. They streaked past the pits well out in front, followed by Clark, the Nlaserati of W. Hansgen, and Stirling Moss in his Ferrari grand touring saloon. In the carly laps Moss and the Aston Martins of Clark and Salvadori had a splendid scrap of their own behind the leaders.

SPEARHEAD BLUNTED

By the ninth hIP the Ferrari of P. Rodriguez was in the lead, but Gendebien soon passed him and a battle began be- tween these two which lasted for nearly 15 hours. Ginther was now fourth, while Parkes was chasing Hansgen and soon passed him. Soon after this Hansgen crashed at Tertre Rouge, but was not hurt. The spearhead of the Maserati challenge, however,was already blunted. Rain fell in the early evening andthe wet track catised several incidents. B: Halford, in the Cooper Monaco of Ecurie Ecosse, crashed after spinning under the Dunlop bridge and striking the banks on both sides of the track. The driver was thrown out, but was not badly injured. The other Ecurie Ecosse car, an Austin Healey, also crashed. at the White House, and the driver, W. Mackay, broke an arm and leg and injured his back.

GOING WELL

The lights came on in a damp, chilly dusk, and the Ferraris already seemed in possession of the race; but the duel between the leading cars of the Rodriguez brothers and Gendebien and Hill con- tinued. Parkes and Mairesse were third and Ginther and von Trips fourth. The Aston Martin of Salvadori and Maggs w1as going well in fifth place. Early this morning Moss and G. Hill were forced to retire in their G. T. Ferrari when a fan blade broke and out through a radiator hose. They had put up a remarkable performance and at one time were lying fourth. The Aston Martin of Clark and Flockharta lso dropped out, with clutch trouble. A grey dawn saw the two Ferraris still exchanging the lead. By now 23 of the 55 cars which started had retired.

RAN OUT OF PETROL

The battle of the leaders was finally resolved in favour of Hill and Gendebien when the Rodriguez car w,as forced to make a lengthy pit stop before a small electrical fault had been rectified. The Ferrari of Ginther and von Trips ran out of petrol on the far side of the oircuit and this let the Aston Martin of Salvadori and Maggs into fourth place. Soon, however, their race was run. The Ferrari of the Rodriguez brothers repassed the Mairesse and Parkes car, which had taken over second place during their pit stop. However, the Rodriguez car finally retired at 2 p.m. after coming into the pits with clouds of smoke rising from the engine. Even now the final order seemed in doubt when the winnring car made a short pit stop just after 3 o'clock, but it soon resumed, to cruise round gently until the race ended an hour later. Of the 55 cars which started. 22 finished. Of these, seven were British.

A great sports car needs a great engine - it is the heart of any high performance machine. In DB9’s case, that great engine is a powerful yet refined all aluminium 6.0-litre V12. It produces 335 kW (450 bhp) and 570 Nm (420 lb ft) of torque. That results in a power to weight ratio of 194 kW/tonne (263 bhp/tonne) - one of the highest figures in its class.

Performance is enormous, yet usable. Top speed is 300 km/h (186 mph) and acceleration sees 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds (add two tenths of a second for the automatic). These figures are impressive and DB9 responds with real passion.

DB9 is the most thoroughly tested and engineered car in Aston Martin’s history. It is also one of the most technically sophisticated cars in the world. The long list of design and engineering innovations includes the Organic Electro Luminescent (OEL) displays in the instrument pack and centre console. These provide higher resolution, and improved clarity, compared with conventional electronic displays. Other innovations include LED (Light Emitting Diode) rear lamps that project through a reflector, dispensing rays more evenly than other LED systems. They also react more quickly, giving earlier warning to following drivers when braking.

Ultra-exclusive Dutch Hypercar with an incredible soundtrack

I am generally drawn to unusual cars that have earned, shall we say, a bit of a reputation. In fact I am genuinely curious as to what the converse fascination is with “easy cars”. I think “easy cars” foster the general lowering of driving skill, not to mention a disrespect for basic physics given that they greatly extend the envelope in which blithering incompetence can be survived.

As Clarkson once remarked, it would be better to put a spike in the middle of a steering wheel rather than an airbag if you want to make people concentrate on the job in hand. “Easy cars” are like playing video games with all the cheats switched on, or always opting for the beginner’s sudoku puzzles. Where’s the challenge, the fun, in that?

So… the Spyker. It costs over £200,000, packs about 400bhp of Audi-sourced 4.2 litre 40V V8 and – by modern supercar standards – isn’t even remotely close to being the Top Trump for acceleration, top speed or a lap time. To some people’s eyes its styling is “a bit weird”. Some think its interior is just too much. Apparently these cars have already bitten road testers. Not looking good? Well, read on…

The Spyker name is a revival of an ancient Dutch marque from the early 20^th Century which was renowned for its innovative cars and aeroplanes. Spyker’s badge and detailing have an aeronautical theme to celebrate this. As a point of note, Spyker produced an all-wheel-drive car in 1903, the 60/80. It was also, Spyker claims, the first passenger car to use a six-cylinder engine and have brakes on all four wheels. In the period preceding WW1, there was a luxury car market slump that resulted in Spyker merging with the Dutch Aircraft Factory. During the war Spyker made around 100 aircraft for Dutch Biggles.

The modern Spyker car is a showcase in aluminium. It is mind-boggling to conceive of what the tooling costs for this car must have been. It’s also clear that Spyker has fully exploited modern CAD/CAE and CNC technologies to manufacture the most exquisite switchgear and details. There appears to be absolutely nothing sourced from anybody else’s parts bin.

The more you study this car at close quarter, the more you marvel at its quality – and the styling grows on you with familiarity. The Spyder’s removable roof is the only area where criticism might be leveled but then this car is primarily about having its roof off. In this respect it makes the same compromises as the similarly expensive Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster, the roof being little more than a weather proofing accessory. Roofless, the quality is utterly beyond question. Indeed it has the unique feature of having no frames on the top edges of the door glass and windscreen – it really looks like an old aeroplane cockpit’s wraparound screen.

Before discussing the driving, it is worthy of some paragraphs to describe the event of approaching, entering and starting the Spyker. The Spyker key puts the Bugatti Veyron’s re-upholstered Skoda fob to shame. Spyker’s key is a weighty alloy disc with four buttons on one side and a watch glass to the reverse showing the internal electronics. One button unlocks the doors and switches off the immobiliser, another unlocks the trunk/engine compartment while the other two buttons (L and R) release each of the doors – the light spring loading of the door hinges means a press of the key from a few yards away causes the door to open and rise itself. It’s a great party trick. You can also open the doors by pressing a small button on the inner side of the door mirror then gently apply pressure to the mirror for the door to rise.

In the supercar tradition you climb over a wide sill into a richly upholstered bucket seat and then pull down the door. Eccentricity abounds in the interior – the 4-spoke propeller steering wheel, the exposed gear linkage, the engine-turned dashboard full of meaty aluminium toggle switches, retro-style gauges and propeller air vents. Anything not machined and polished aluminium is covered with quilted leather and alcantara. Modern-day Spyker founder Victor Muller has a penchant for pre-war Bugattis and I guess that’s the closest comparison to the Spyker’s incredible dashboard. Just like a pre-war car, there is no wireless and the reason for that becomes clear the moment you complete the engine starting sequence of lifting up the ignition switch cover, flicking the ignition on and then pressing the start button. This might just be the best V8 exhaust note ever. No, really, EVER.

Initial impressions of driving the Spyker are that it doesn’t instantly inspire confidence (I found most TVRs are like this too). There isn’t an easy line of communication with the car, it doesn’t talk to you in words of one syllable like much-lauded technocratic German cars. Working out what the Spyker is saying, what it means and how to respond with the right inputs takes time. You can’t rush this, it’s a delicate process of experimentation. That lack of instant confidence and the knowledge that others have been scalped by this machine means errors are off the menu.

My first miles were therefore tentative but a perfect opportunity to savour the sensory delights of just being in the Spyker on the move. Unusual as the gearshift and steering wheel look, they are simply wonderful to use. The gear shift’s throws are short and precise, like moving a switch about. The diameter, rim circumference and padding of the wheel perfectly judged and the steering weight is light, but not overly so. The seats are quite possibly the most comfortable I have ever sat in. The air conditioning and heating work well but there’s precious little other equipment to comment on. It does not have a cigar lighter so there is nowhere to plug in a pocket satnav device – I enjoyed getting lost instead. With that incredible V8 soundtrack behind and the exquisite dashboard in front, even just dawdling in the Spyker is a rare pleasure on many levels.

It does shift though, the biggest shove coming from riding the torque plateau rather than wringing the engine out. The six gears are closely stacked and, in the absence of a hi-fi, I found myself playing tunes with the exhaust note. Baaaaaah ….Baaaah ….Baah up the gears and Baah… Blip… Baaaah… Blip… Baaaaaah down the gears. The steering is accurate and the car turns in honestly, although the steering lock is limited – the tightest hairpins can require use of reverse gear (or a stab of the throttle!). The ride is firm but composed, the Spyker barely rolls in corners but somehow remains compliant and rattle-free on poor B-road surfaces. The brakes take some getting used to – there is no servo so the pedal requires real force to stop the car. There’s ABS for emergencies but you’ll rarely trigger it. Oh, and there’s no traction control.

What makes it bite? Overdriving it by attacking corners can unsettle either end of the car and mid-corner lifting off the throttle – in other words the Spyker is not tolerant of clumsiness. However, be smooth, read the road surface and the Spyker has terrific poise and grip. Handling is neutral with a whiff of understeer to let you know the contact patches are struggling before you neutralize it with a bit more power. It’s very satisfying to find the groove in this car – which takes me back to my opening paragraph. I had to raise my game for the Spyker. It needed the best out of me to get the best out of it. Once I understood its ‘language’ I foud it responds well to a firm hand and can be driven hard. I trusted it. On the wrong day or in the wrong frame of mind it could, I’m sure, frustrate me. But introduced to this car as I was on one of Rio Prestige’s excellent Scottish driving routes, I found that once I’d unlocked the Spyker’s secrets I really didn’t want to leave the driving seat. (In fact I’ve got back in it several times since…)

The Spyker is a car with a big personality and masses of character. I couldn’t help my imagination running away, it made me laugh out loud and recall childhood dogfighting games of running around with arms outstretched shouting “Raaaaaaaar!” If I owned one I’d go out in the dead of night with a flying jacket and coat hanger-reinforced scarf, chomping on a fat cigar and do lots of Dr Evil laughing. Other times I’d just sit in the garage and study it. It’s a real feel-good car that can make any journey into an adventure – real or imagined!

There really is nothing else like the Spyker. It’s as loopy and ‘far out’ as, maybe, a TVR but it’s built like a Swiss watch and detailed like a Fabergé egg. Is it worth its hefty price tag? I think it is. The world hasn’t seen this level of craftsmanship and originality in coachbuilt cars since the 1930s. Many cars are faster, the majority of cars are considerably cheaper but thumbing through car statistics for objective comparisons is to completely and utterly miss the point: nothing is more SPECIAL than a Spyker …unless it’s something still more expensive. On that basis, the Spyker might even be considered a snip.

The latest task the candidates face is to rent supercars from the RIO Prestige fleet to the public...

With just six candidates remaining, the pressure is on to win and make it through to the penultimate task. Sir Alan gives the teams a choice of supercars, and challenges them to rent them out to members of the public. The cars include the very latest Aston Martin, a Ferrari, a Spyker and the Pagani Zonda - a car so rare few people in the world have ever driven one. It's not hard to turn heads with such high-end merchandise, but the teams find interest soon dries up when they reveal the price tag to passers-by - with a day in the Zonda costing almost three thousand pounds.

The candidates all set out to prove what they're made of. Someone reveals that they loathe cars, whilst another must overcome their fear of face-to-face selling. But even for the more experienced sales people the pressure mounts and they soon realise just how hard this task will be. As usual, one of the remaining candidates will hear the dreaded words: "You’re fired!"

A supercar road trip to the north coast of Scotland to watch the sun set over the Atlantic on Midsummer’s Eve...

The north coast of Scotland experiences around three hours more daylight on the Summer Solstice than London, so what better place to enjoy The Longest Day? Midnight golf is a traditional way to celebrate on the North coast!

The RIO Prestige Midsummer Run will take place on June 21/22, 2008.

This will be a thoroughly relaxing road trip, simply book your car (550 free miles included) and make your way at your leisure to your hotel on the north coast. Sample itineraries will be provided but guests are invited to make their own way north. However, you can be assured whichever route you take it will lead you through some dramatic scenery on incredible roads.

On Saturday evening dinner will be provided at the hotel, and those who wish to watch the sun dip briefly below the horizon can join the other guests and the RIO Prestige team at the beach bonfire for a dram.

On Sunday morning, after a leisurely breakfast, guests will make their way south, meeting back at the start point later in the day.

Zeewolde, the Netherlands, May 13, 2008 – Spyker Cars N.V. and Lotus Cars Ltd., of Hethel, England, announce the signing of a cooperation agreement.

Spyker and Lotus have reached agreement today on the outline of their intended cooperation, which will include a Parts and Platform Commonality Agreement (PPCA), a Parts and Accessories Supply Agreement pursuant to which Lotus would provide certain parts for Spyker’s new C8 Aileron super sportscar, and a concept Design and Engineering Agreement relating to all of Spyker’s future models.

The parties’ objective is to reduce costs of parts and components by sharing technology.

Victor R. Muller, CEO of Spyker Cars comments: “Our company has had a very fruitful cooperation with Lotus, developed over the past four years, relating to engineering services in respect of certain components of our cars, as well as in respect of worldwide certification. Spyker and Lotus have now come to the conclusion that they need to intensify their cooperation to the point that we intend to share parts and platforms, as well as an agreement on the supply of parts. Thank to all those who turned up to see us at the Scottish Motorshow at Knockhill and to all who entered our prize draw to win a place on our new Supercar Days, The draw will be made later this week.

To all who missed us you can catch us back at Knockhill Classic Speedfair on June the 8th. The weekend on June 7th / 8th 2008 will see the 3rd running of the Scottish Classic SpeedFair at Knockhill Racing Circuit, Scotlands National Motor Sport Centre, near Edinburgh.

The event will be a festival format with many on and off track activities running simultaneouly. Racing-wise, it will star the first running of the Ferrari Open and Classic Racing Championships with two races for each series, together with other quality racing championships. A quartet of the world’s rarest cars - with a combined worth of over £1million - will be on display at the Knockhill Motorfair this weekend (May 10-11).

The Koenigsegg CC8s, Pagani Zonda C12s, Spyker C8 Spyder and Ferrari 250TR are all custom-built performance cars - each with price tags that run into hundred’s of thousands of pounds. However, the general public will be able to take a closer look at these unique beauties courtesy of Scottish supercar experience provider Rio Prestige, who will be displaying the vehicles from its fleet at the Knockhill Motorfair.

Those who can’t get enough of fast cars will also have the chance to win a day driving some of the world’s most famous luxury automobiles - including Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche. To mark the launch of its new Supercar Day package, RIO Prestige will giving away two free places on one of these amazing experiences. The dream day out offers the chance to get behind the wheel of five different supercars on the best roads in Scotland, and includes breakfast and lunch at some of Scotland’s finest hotels. RAF v Rio

Fife RAF fighter jets went head to head with some of the fastest cars in the world yesterday as part of a special charity challenge.

Pilots from 43 (Fighter) Squadron at RAF Leuchars, together with a Scottish company that specialises in the hire and use of ultimate performance cars and has an exclusive drivers’ club, helped raise around £10,000 for Help for Heroes, the charity for wounded servicemen and women.

The Tornado jets were up against three pieces of motoring exotica, which were in the hands of specialist drivers for the challenge.

The fund-raiser came about after personnel at RAF Leuchars hired one of Rio Prestige Performance’s cars for a function and the squadron later contacted the company with their idea for the daring event.

The cars involved in the race—for the record, two of the cars came some way behind the awesome performance of the fighter planes—were a Koenigsegg CC8, a Gumpert Apollo, and a Pagani Zonda C12.

They reached speeds of between 180mph and 200mph as they hurtled down a track alongside the main runway is their bid to beat the jets to the finish line.

Only the Zonda beat the jet to the finish line.

Tornado pilot flight lieutenant Simon Grieve said, “It was not so much a race for me as they started the race before I was ready, and I was still doing my pre-race checks.

“The car had already started when the starter fired his gun so it was more of a chase. But the event is good fun.”

RAF Leuchars spokesman squadron leader Keith Wardlaw said RAF Leuchars flying squadrons are always looking for innovative ways to raise money for charity.

“The partnership with Rio provides not only participation and an exciting spectacle but the chance to raise thousands of pounds for a charity with which all service personnel can identify,” he said.

Rio Prestige general manager Edward Legge said the event provided the ideal opportunity for club members to experience the fleet of “hypercars”, watch the exciting action, and tour the station.

At the event was Kim Wardner, Help for Heroes’ Scottish fund-raising representative, who said the charity had been launched last October to do something practical for men and women wounded while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

She said that the charity is already two thirds of the way towards its £6 million national appeal target for a much-needed swimming pool and gym complex at Headley Court, near Epsom, the tri-service rehabilitation centre.

She paid tribute to everyone involved in the Leuchars effort and said that the charity was “absolutely delighted” to have people from the armed services helping in this way.

Koenigsegg back with a bang!

After an extended visit to the Koenigsegg factory in Angleholm, our CC8s is now back and better than ever!

After spending a few months at the Sweedish airbase having a new engine block upgrade and various tweaks, it headed to RAF Leuchars to be piloted by an RPM member in a tandem run against an RAF Tornado.

Unfortunately even with a new engine block, it failed to match the power of the F-3 Jet.

Press release 2007-11-27 Koenigsegg Edition cars.

Due to request from certain Koenigsegg Clients and Customers, Koenigsegg has created a Limited Edition version of its sought after cars. The Koenigsegg Edition comes in two limited versions, the CCX and CCXR models.

It features a 5.0L twin supercharged Koenigsegg engine, together with many other unique features. The car is more track biased compared to the standard models, as it has stiffer springs and anti-roll bars, reset dampers and lowered chassis. It also features a fully visible carbon body a large adjustable rear wing, larger front splitter and side strakes for increased down force and a unique forged wheel design.

The interior is also reworked and features; color matched leather carpets, Edition side step plates, Edition chronograph instrument cluster, New edition only layout for the center consol control panels.

All other extra equipment comes as standard, such as Carbon Wheels, Special interior trim and color, Rearview camera, Satnav or Bluetooth, Amplifiers, complete Inconell exhaust system in order to save weight.

The Edition cars will be built in two different versions, a CCX model limited to 14 cars with 888 bhp and a CCXR (Bio flexi fuel) model limited to 6 cars with 1018 bhp. The price for the 888 hp CCX is 1 330 000 Euro, and 1 500 000 Euro for the 1018 hp CCXR (E85/petrol flexfuel) version. The two first of each version are already spoken for.

Each car comes with 5 years free Service and Warranty.

Unveiling of the Edition versions will be at the Geneva Motor show in March 2008, where the first delivery will take place.

Meeting of the Zonda fans

Asher is a regular visitor to the Rio Prestige Stand at MPH, and is an avid Zonda fanatic with the ability to recall all the performance statistics of the vehicle. Asher suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of Autism.

As a fan of the Zonda Asher expressed an interest in meeting Richard Hammond who is also a fan of the stunning italian hypercar. While we were at the Birmingham show we managed to orchestrate a meeting between Asher and Richard Hammond who was extremely happy to meet Asher.

RIO would like to thank Baz from Clarion events and Richard Hammond fro making this possible and we hope to see Asher back at MPH 08

Star supercars set for big stage

RIO Prestige will be on hand to wow the crowds as MPH ’07 gets underway next week. Some of the world’s most stunning cars will go on display at the Earl’s Court, London, when the event opens on Thursday November 1.

Among the star attractions will be a Pagani Zonda, a Spyker Spyder, an Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster, and a classic 1961 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa - all supplied by RIO Prestige.

The event will combine the very best displays and live shows, with Jeremy Clarkson on hand to present a series of performances featuring the most exciting cars in the world and breathtaking stunts. Last year, around 70,000 people visited the show at London’s Earls Court, and its sister show at Birmingham’s NEC.

Edward Legge, general manager of RIO Prestige, said the show was the perfect platform for the supercar specialists to strut their stuff. “MPH is a fantastic event and the ideal place to show off our vehicles. It’s also a good opportunity to entertain members of our exclusive RPM Club, and possibly meet new ones too,” said Edward. “Anyone interested in finding out how they can get the keys to the most exciting garage in the world should make sure they visit us at the show,” he added.

RIO Prestige will also be giving every visitor to their stand at both the London and Birmingham shows the chance to win a Lap of Scotland experience in a supercar. The Lap of Scotland package takes in 1000 miles of the most stunning roads and scenery in the UK, and is worth £1500. We can now confirm delivery of our newly aquired Aston Martin DB9 Coupe.

Other innovations include LED (Light Emitting Diode) rear lamps that project through a reflector, dispensing rays more evenly than other LED systems. They also react more quickly, giving earlier warning to following drivers when braking.

The Sebring-winning car later reappeared in the Le Mans 24-Hours classic, in which it was crewed by the Rodriguez brothers – Pedro and Ricardo – and was forced into retirement by engine failure. The second TR/61 made its racing debut at Le Mans, in which it was driven to yet another victory by Phil Hill/Olivier Gendebien. It was sold post-race to Luigi Chinetti – Ferrari’s legendary American importer – and it was campaigned by Pedro Rodriguez in the Canadian sports car Grand Prix (2nd), it won the Governor’s Trophy race at Nassau, Bahamas, and finished third there in the Nassau Trophy race.
