As realtors, we try to list our homes for sale on Craigslist. It seems like there's endless web sites to list properties for sale. We also use Trulia, Zillow, Homes.com, and Realtor.com which we pay premium money for great placement and extra information.

For home sellers, the extra web site and internet exposure sure seems to be worth the marketing money we spend. We feel we get more home showings because the homes we list for sale get seen.

Sandoval County Rio Rancho property values

Sandoval County has released information which shows property values have decreased a bit. This information was released just prior to the figuring of Sandoval County's mil rate for property taxes. The National Weather Service Meteorlogist Ed Pasko stated that the scattered thunderstorms seen throughout the area over the holiday weekend signalled the onset of the monsoon season. Continued precipitation since the 4th backs up his claims and residents of the central New Mexico area can, according to Ed, look foward to what he hopes will be a normal amount of rainfall. Now is the time to check your home's roof to ensure it is ready for the rain.

The 2010 Census numbers for Rio Rancho have been released and confirmed what we guessed about the population of Rio Rancho, NM. In the year 2000, it was reported that Rio Rancho had 51,765 residents. The 2010 census shows a jump to 87,521 residents. We certainly believe low home prices, affordability, schools, and great ratings for Rio Rancho contributed to their growth.

Where do all of these new residents of Rio Rancho live? My best guess is not in apartments... as there are few in Rio Rancho. New neighborhoods like Cabezon, Loma Colorado, Lomas Encantado, Santiago, Northern Meadows, High Ridge, Vista Entrada, etc are mostly new in the past 10 years. Home builders in Rio Rancho including Artistic Homes, DR Horton, Pulte, Centex, Sivage, Skyview, custom builders, and Beazer... some of the main builders we've seen.

Along with the growth of people, obviously there was growth in the number of schools, roads, infrastructure, and jobs.

Just by accident, we showed up for dinner tonight in Rio Rancho at O'Hare's Pub. What a festive restaurant! The shamrocks are all over the wall ready for St. Patrick's Day. Anyway, we didn't understand why there was a wait for a table and it wasn't even 6 pm.... turns out it's Fat Tuesday and people look for any excuse to get out! :-) Smile!

We had a great meal as usual and once again remembered why we like O'Hare's! Looking for a great place to eat out in Rio Rancho? There's plenty of great restaurants and O'Hare's happens to have great drinks as well.

Paseo del Volcan road in Rio Rancho to open this week!

Rio Rancho - Hooray for the upcoming opening of Paseo del Volcan road. This will greatly ease the access of home owners and residents of the Northern Meadows neighborhood, as well as access to the Rio Rancho City Hall, Rio Rancho Santa Ana Star Event Center, Hewlett Packard, UNM Hospital under construction, and UNM & CNM at the new City Center.

Paseo del Volcan has been under construction from Iris to Highway 550 by Enchanted Hills. I have driven by the construction many times and it seems very well planned as there is no traffic stops on Enchanted Hills Boulevard, so quick access to 550 and then to I-25 through Bernalillo.

For those of you who haven't been to Rio Rancho lately, they have changed. They are the City of Vision and I'm glad to see they continue to make progress as without the infrastructure, they can't continue to attract business and facilities for the residents and visitors to Rio Rancho.

Rio Rancho snow....

Last week we had a wonderful snowfall. In Albuquerque, it was a couple of inches. In Corrales, we probably had about 6 inches of heavy snow... however, Rio Rancho seemed to get the most snow with the news reporting 7 inches. We were in Rio Rancho on an appointment while it was snowing and it was impressive how much snow fell in an hour.

Of course, the snow is a distant memory now as there's no trace of it.... Welcome to New Mexico.

Rio Rancho Loma Colorado Master Plan proposed Amendment meeting

The Loma Colorado area Master Plan has some Proposed Amendments under review. There is a meeting scheduled for December 7, 2010 at 6:30 for neighborhood input. It appears as though the Pulte Homes are wants to do two new areas of homes... one perhaps for senior housing and another area for multi-family uses.

If you live in the Loma Colorado area of Rio Rancho, it will be interesting to see how the home owners feel about this possible change. In Cabezon of Rio Rancho, they had a gated neighborhood of Townhomes, which seemed to be quite popular.

For those die hard golfers, our winter season is under way. Golf courses have special winter rates and we do have some great courses. From public to private, here's a few of my favorite.

Twin Warriors and Santa Ana. Both on the Santa Ana Pueblo near Bernalillo and Rio Rancho... they offer exceptional golf with stunning views of the Rio Grande River Valley and the Sandia Mountains. "Santa Ana Golf Club is ranked #33 nationwide in Golf Digest's Top 40 Resort Golf courses." and Twin Warriors "Ranked the 49th Best Public Golf Course in America by Golf Digest". Yep, right here in beautiful New Mexico.
Arroyo Del Oso is a City of Albuquerque course that is fun and affordable. They have the "dam 9' which is nine holes around the dam. If you don't have time to play a full 18 holes, this is the perfect place to go. They will match you up as you arrive and away you go.

Tanoan Country Club Tanoan Country Club, Albuquerque NM Golf - from their web site....
"At Tanoan Country Club, You’ll find something for every member of your family. Our championship golf course is challenging yet fun for all skill levels. And our 14-court tennis facility and swimming pool offer plenty of options for family fun." While this is a members only club, if you are thinking of moving into the Northeast Heights, it's a great option due to the variety of activities present here.

Sandia Golf Club is a part of the Sandia Casino and Resort. They have lovely hotel accomodations, restaurants, meeting facilities and of course, a casino. From their web site... "Winter Rates. Our winter rates started November 1st. Play for $50 Mon-Thurs & $60 Fr-Sun. Twilight begins at 12pm throughout the winter." Sandia Golf Club has also been well ranked and names to many lists.

The next nice day here in the winter, grab your clubs and pick one of our great golf courses and go enjoy the day! We do have many nice days so maybe you'll want to play often!
