UNM West Clinic opens in Rio Rancho

Rio Rancho has a new Medical Group opening. UNM West campus building in the city center is where The Rapid Care clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, providing non emergency care for things like coughs, colds, sprains and allergies. The office number is 272-4010.

Back to School Time For Rio Rancho Students

It's hard to believe that Summer break is almost over for Rio Rancho students. However, all parents and guardians will be glad to know that their children will be back to school here soon starting August 12th for High School and Middle School students. Elementary students will begin classes August 17th with pretesting the week before. Be sure to take care of all registration issues beforehand. UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center Hospital in Rio Rancho breaking ground soon.

Looks like there will be ground under construction starting in September on the new hospital in Rio Rancho City Center. The 68 bed hospital and and adjacent medical office building are expected to open in March 2012.

Rio Rancho is getting a Presbyterian Hospital, a move theater, a uptown-style retail complex, and now the Black Arroyo diversion project is facilitating a park and pedestrial Trail. The site lies just west of the Presbyterian Healthcare Services building at Unser and Black Arroyo.

Sandoval County moves their offices to be by Judicial Complex

This week the COunty is moving their offices from downtown Bernalillo to the new facility near the Judicial Complex off Hwy 528. They plan to be back to business as usual next week. I'm sure they'll all enjoy their new digs!

Bus service expanding to Rio Rancho

Rio Rancho wins in the ABQ Ride extension into Rio Rancho. At present, many Rio Rancho residents commute from the Northwest Transit Center at Coors & Ellison NW. The plan is to get buses connecting to the buses at the transit center, so people can catch the express routes to KAFB and UNM. Right now they are looking at it and we hope they'll get the buses rolling soon!

Rio Rancho New Mexico Homes Sales

Rio Rancho NM homes sales were down slightly in May 2010, although the average time it took to sell a home was down to only 60 days. Also, building permits were down in May and year to date. It does seem that the new Pulte Home naighborhood at Loma Colorado has started builiding more new homes.

Rio Rancho movie theater???

It appears a movie theater is once again in the cards for Rio Rancho, New Mexico. As one of the largest cities without a movie theater... it would be nice. Slated for the corner of Unser and Westside Blvd, it would be near the new Presbyterian Hospital under construction.

It appears as though two different companies are vying for this spot, so we'll stand by to see what happens.

A movie theater would be nice for home owners in Rio Rancho, althought the Cottonwood Mall theater is fairly close too.

Extravaganza Moves to Stadium

Looking for something to do on the 4th? Rio Rancho will be hosting an extravaganza at the Rio Rancho High School Football Stadium. Starting with a parade on Southern and Country Club at 10:00am with additional events throughout the day and a big ending at 9:30pm at Rio Rancho High with a nice sized fireworks show. Corrales will also be hosting their own parade at 10:00am. So there will plenty of activities to do.

Commission Approves Theater Plans

Residents of Rio Rancho and Albuquerque's Westsiders may have another option regarding theater choices. At the moment, the nearest theater is at the Cottonwood Mall. Rio Rancho's Planning and Zoning commission has approved plans for a 14 screen theater on the corner of Southern and Unser. There could be a slight hiccup in this process. Other developers near the new Presbyterion Hospital who want to build an Uptown type business center say this will go against their plans for a theater at their site. Either way, when all is said and done, it sounds like Rio Rancho will eventually have a multi-screen theater in the future.

Sandoval County offices to be closed !!

Yikes.... Sandoval County offices will be closed from July 5 through July 9th, 2010 as they are moving locations. This could have major impact for people buying homes in Rio Rancho, Placitas and Sandoval County as the County will not be recording any property transfers during this time frame. This means if you are closing on a house purchase and sign on July 1st or 2nd... chances are high that your possession date will be after July 12th as the recording cannot take place while the offices are closed.

For the home buyers tax credit house closings all before June 30th... it's a mad rush already come the end of this month.... onr more thing to be aware of.

The "Recycle Man" was at the Loma Colorado Library in Rio Rancho

On Wednesday, they had Kevin Kinane, aka the Recycle Man, at the Loma Colorado Library playing music on his percussion instruments made from recycled material. How Fun! Green2V solar manufactuing plant in Rio Rancho still in the works...

Today's Albuquerque Journal Rio Rancho edition says that the Green2V solar manufacturing plant is still in the works, and that the City is waiting for more confirmations from the company to proceed with infrastructure on the site for the facility. With the future potential for jobs and benefits to the home owners and citizens of Rio Rancho, Green2V Solar is a great thing for the city.

The article says Bill Shepard, formerly with Intel Corp, has recently moved back to New Mexico. Hope he found a great house to buy! :-)

Also in the article, they state that the infrastructure will be good for Rio Rancho regardless of whether Green2V or another use were decided for the land. So glad to see this is Rio Rancho's stance as the area surrounding the V. Sue Cleveland High School is in need of development. Thinking back to La Cueva High School and the barren lands around it when it was built... now you can't see the High School to know it's there.

Rio Rancho Charter School is opening soon!

Rio Rancho's first Charter School called ASK Academy is opening this fall. It is geared towards Science, technology, engineering and math. The school is starting with just 9th and 10th grades and hopes to expand to be for grades 7 through 12 eventually.

The school is founded by two RR High School teachers who were instrumental in building RRHS's science and engineering program over the years. A few years ago we sold a house to another RRHS teacher who told us of the success these two teachers were having teaching math and science and that they had a goal of opening a focused charter school. Congrats to them on getting it done.

One more win for Rio Rancho as with Intel, Hewlett Packard, and other major science, engineering, and math related position hopefully the future work force can come from within.

Rio Rancho Presbyterian Hospital Medical Offices

Presbyterian is adding Medical Offices near where they are building the new Rio Rancho Hospital. The medical offices will be constructed an occupied hopefully in 2012. It's planned to be 96,000 square feet, 3 stories, and cost roughly $25 million. The offices will support speciailists from Pres as well as other physicians.

This is great new for Rio Rancho and Rio Rancho real estate. Having the new hospital is wonderful, and having a medical office complex to go with it is great for the quality of life for homeowners in Rio Rancho, Northwest Albuquerque, Corrales, and the north valley.

Sandoval County Tax Values mailed out for Rio rancho, Placitas, Corrales....

The Sandoval County Assessors office has mailed all "Notice of Value" of properties. You should have already received yours for land and homes. Sandoval County covers a large area including Rio Rancho, Corrales, Bernalillo, Placitas, Algodones, San Ysidro, and parts of Sandia Park.

The Notice of Value is notifying you of what the Assessor's Office has determined to be the value of your property. It is not a tax bill, but the value is used at the end of the year to determine your tax. NOW is the time to protest if you believe your properties is valued too high. For homes in Sandoval County, many will be assessed too high as the value has come down. For Rio Rancho land, the same is true.
