Owl Theme Candy Table

I was excited and enjoyed when getting this theme.

THE OWL THEME

It was for the aqiqah event.

The customer, Farah, was introduced by Diana from ThePartyKru.com. Farah loved pastel colors and her choices were pastel pink, blue and white. With the help of my family members and Liza (a friend of mine from DreamCandy), we gave Farah, her ďream candy table. :)

Let me show you the decoration first.

The backdrop with pastel pink and blue jersey cloth with the her son's names.

As for the owl templates, I ordered them from Liza.

These helium balloons were also from Liza's shop.

Liza has a shop that sells all the accessories for party.
I will write about Liza and her shop in the next post.

Birthday Party Etiquette Tips

Kids' birthday parties are lots of fun, but planning them can be somewhat stressful. There are decorations and favors to buy, refreshments to choose, and games to plan. For the guests, there are arrangements to make and gifts to buy. And throughout it all, there are lots of etiquette issues to consider on both sides. Here are some tips to help you get through it all.

When Your Child is the Host

If you can invite some but not all of the children in your child's class at school, mail the invitations or deliver them to their homes if possible. Doing so will save hurt feelings. If that is not possible, have your child give them to friends as discretely as possible, and tell her to try to avoid talking with them about the party at school.

Be as specific as possible on the invitations. If you want the parents to drop the child off, put the child's name on the invitation instead of just "you." If a parent or sibling is welcome to come as well, add the words "and parent" or "and guest."

If guests do not RSVP, feel free to call and ask politely if they are coming. It is their responsibility to let you know, but some people just don't. Calling to find out one way or the other will make planning much easier.

Talk to your child before the party about his responsibilities as the host. Reinforce his good manners, and encourage him to make sure that all of his guests are having a good time. If he forgets to thank guests for their gifts, a gentle reminder should suffice.

Have extra food and favors on hand. An unexpected parent or sibling may show up, even if you were extremely clear about who was invited on the invitations. The best thing you can do is be prepared for this.

When the party is over, have your child write thank you notes. If she is too young to write, she can help you by telling you which guest brought which gift or signing the cards herself. The idea is to show her that it's the right thing to do, even if she's not capable of doing it all on her own yet.

When Your Child Is a Guest

Read the party invitation carefully to see whether the parents should stay or the child should be dropped off, and whether the child is invited to bring a guest. If it is unclear, don't be afraid to call the parents and ask.

Get your child to the party on time. If you're dropping him off, be back to pick him up on time too.

Refresh you child's memory on the subject of good manners. Even the best mannered child in the world has a lapse every now and then. It doesn't hurt to remind her of the finer points.

I don't remember when I started falling in love with brownies. But when I started baking it, I started to get know brownies more. :) Just like the Malay saying, "Tak kenal, maka tak cinta"

It was just like a dream come true for me, when my regular customer asked me to make a candy table for her children event.

Oh my.... oh my.... I really don't know where to begin. Finally, after doing some research and google here and there about Candy Table, I stumbled upon ThePartyKru owned by Diana Ali. She wrote an ebook for Candy Table and Chocolate Fountain. This ebook helped me alot, plus Diana Candy Table Group.

I will tell you more in details regarding the preparation of My MejaManis a.k.a. Candy Table later. For the being, enjoy looking at the pictures.

My 1st MejaManis was held at The Nyonya Village Restaurant, Cyberjaya.

Congo Bar As Doorgift

Congo Bar is like a mixture of brownies and chocolate chips cookies. Some people call it, Blondies. Usually I baked Congo Bar in a size of 12 x 12 inches or 9 x 9 inches. But this time, my customer requested Congo Bar as a doorgift.

This is the mini pack size of the congo bar in form of a doorgift.

It was packed in the PVC gold box by the size of 2 x 2 inches.

According to the customer request. Green theme.

This was another sample of the doorgift for Congo Bar.

It was slightly bigger than the earlier one. The size is 3 x 3 inches.

And this time it was wrapped in transparent plastic and clipped with colorful dollies.

You can request for more personalized such as putting a Thank You tag or sticker with the packaging.

Create Memorable Birthday Party Goodie Bags With A Limited Budget

Goodie bags are the expected thing when one goes to a party, but we don't have to expect, or give, junk. Nicer goodie bags don't have to be expensive, either. Start a trend with your child's next birthday party by giving goodie bags that are creative and frugal with the help of these few simple tips.

Musical Goodies

Consider making your own music CDs. Children love listening to music from their favorite show or movie. Packs of CDs are relatively inexpensive and can even be found at your Dollar Store. You can also make your own CD covers with a printer, or print off labels and stick onto the CD. Or have your child draw a fun cover, then take it to an office supply store and have them copied for each CD.

This is a goodie that can last, and be appreciated, for years. Check online for downloads for free music tracks. If you are having a themed party, keep that theme in mind when you pick out the music.

Playful Goodies

If you do want to buy a bunch of little things from the dollar store, buy things like rubber balls, skipping ropes, books, puzzles, and things that will entertain and teach at the same time.

Make the goodies a part of the fun by giving them out at the beginning of the party. For instance, if the party is a summertime event with a focus on water fun, include water squirters, pool toys, and other things to enjoy outside. Your goodie bags are now doing double-duty; they are part of the party fun, and the goodies go home with the kids.

Tasty Goodies

Bake your own goodies for affordable and delicious treats. Bake cookies, rice krispie squares, or brownies. Then wrap them tightly and put them in the goodie bag to take home.

You might even want to make sugar cookies in the shape of girls and boys, then use the frosting to 'monogram' a cookie with each child's name for a personalized goodie bag. You could also use alphabet cookie cutters to put the child's initials in their goodie bag. These personalized goodie bags will be the hit of the party, and they are inexpensive to make.

Crafty Goodies

Discount stores, dollar stores, and even thrift and resale shops are great places to find lots of cheap things for crafts. Fill the goodie bag with a bunch of crafty stuff and let the party-goers use their imagination. Don't worry too much about what you have, just mix and match, set out the glue and scissors, and let the supplies lead the kids down the road of creativity. Or, have an example of a craft item already made and on display. Then just have the craft items in the goodie bags for the kids to make their own.

Another goodie bag that doubles as an activity would be to ask each child to bring an old t-shirt and have all the craft items in the goodie bag to embellish their own shirt. You can do the same with headbands, barrettes, hats, bracelets, necklaces, and other apparel as well, by either providing the item or using old items and making them over with the things in the goodie bag. These fun, and personal, items are always more appreciated than a bag of tiny junk that takes no thought.

There are many ways to create affordable goodie bags if you use your imagination. Ask your children what they like, do some research online, ask other parents what their kids would like, and always be on the hunt for great deals wherever you go. Come up with something different and creative and both parents and children will remember the goodie bags from your child's birthday as being thoughtful and fun.

PS4 Cake

A cake for a gamer!

Farah, was one of the regular customer of RitzariKitchen.com asked me if I wanted to take the challenge. Absolutely the answer was YES!!! This cake was for her husband celebrating 30th birthday. She wanted it to be something special.

I did some studied and research from the internet. I was thinking that the PS4 Controller will not be totally fondant, inside outside, but something that be eaten with a delicious taste. I came ac-crossed a video on YouTube "How to make an edible XBOX 360 Controller" by BellaCakes and Connections. The controller was made out from Rice Krispies and marshmallows. I decided to try it and the taste was really, really AWESOME.

This was how the PS4 Controller looked like before the decoration. It can be hold.

And this is the DVD (before the make-up done)

After left it for overnight, I covered the controller made from Rice Krispies with black fondant. The PS4 logo was made from edible image.

Same goes with the DVD. Covered up with black fondant and the DVD cover was made from edible image.

TAAA DAAA...!!!!

It's done. :)

Anyone looking for a food freezer? Well, I am. For those who are looking for a freezer, here are some tips to help you to decide which one is the right storage unit for your home.

Purchasing a food storage freezer could be a wise investment. One, you will have room to store meats, frozen vegetables, desserts and the like. Instead of shopping for one week or two at a time, you can keep your home well stocked with the ingredients you need to prepare just about any meal at any time. Buying in bulk often saves money in the long run.

6 Tips for Buying a Food Freezer

1. Measure your space

There is nothing worse than getting your new appliance home and finding out that it doesn’t fit. Decide where you will put it and then accurately take measurements so you know the limits on size. Don’t forget to leave head space for opening the top of the freezer.

Just because it costs a lot doesn’t mean it is the better choice; conversely, the same is true. Cheaper is not poorer quality. Consider the other factors above along with cost.

Before the end of 2013, I went to few baking classes in order to update myself for the latest desserts and cakes introduce in Malaysia. Such as Congo Bar, Daim Cake, Fruit Cream Puff and Riquisimo Chocolate Bar (just to name a few). I will upload the photos soon.

Green Cleaning Tips

If you have taken the time and effort to remodel or redecorate your home and going green, then it is important to remember that you have to maintain that greenness afterwards as well.

Cleaning green is an excellent way to honor your going green choices. Many individuals think that going green is something new; however, if you speak to some elders you will see that being green has been around for quite some time – at least in the cleaning department.

Our grandmothers probably used things like lemon juice for laundry stains and baking soda to clean out the refrigerator. Sometimes something old is something new again.

Paper Products

It really is not necessary to go through a case of paper towels every month for the sake of cleaning your home. Saving paper by avoiding disposable paper towels is a top-notch way to save trees. When you save trees, you save the environment.

You can use newspaper and a vinegar and water solution for sparkling clean windows.
Use washcloths for wiping down countertops and tables instead of disposable sponges.
Use old clothing cut into squares for polishing furniture and throw them occasionally into the washing machine.
Use cloth baby diapers for cleaning your car and throw them into the washing machine along with your other rags.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice has long since been used for cleaning in a variety of ways around the house.

Lemon juice can remove tough stains such as cosmetics from your bathroom countertop. (Of course, spot test a small area and speak to the manufacturer before applying.)
Instead of using bleach, try a half cup of lemon juice in the rinse cycle for brighter whites.
Water, vinegar, and lemon juice will tackle the inside of your refrigerator and leave it smelling, well – lemony fresh.
A little squeeze of lemon mixed with your dish detergent will help when you scrub pots and pans.

Baking Soda

Baking soda has many uses around the home, some that you may never have tried.

Put some baking soda on a damp sponge with a little kosher salt and watch your bathroom sparkle.
Baking soda is an excellent cleanser for your refrigerator mixed with water and some lemon juice. The lemon juice gives your refrigerator a nice, clean scent.
Baking soda added into your rinse cycle of your wash will create a soft, clean feel to your clothing.

Common things found in your home such as baking soda, lemon juice, and vinegar go a long way in green cleaning.

You can also learn tips and tricks for creating your own laundry detergent and soap. All-natural essential oils such as lavender or tea tree oil are excellent additives to a homemade laundry detergent or a homemade furniture polish.
