On October 27th volunteers were ready and waiting once again to hand out free food, and clothing to those struggling in Detroit and surrounding areas. The PB & J Outreach has been around for over 8 years donating their time and yes, peanut butter & jelly to all that need it.

They have focused their service in the past on the Martin Luther King & 3rd Street areas but now have two new locations which they are nurturing. Remembering the names of the people they help, and their needs are just one of the small things they do each week.

In addition they do what they can to help with other needs the residents that come out have. They are in need of donations, and volunteers, if you have a hinkling for helping your neighborhood residents you can check out their website at www.pbjoutreach.org or simply come out they would love to see you!
After getting off to a shaky start this morning the Walter White Community Center and Forgotten Harvest were able to bring in enough produce to assist more than 200 families this month. On the fourth Monday of each month the Walter White Community Center helps families with fresh produce to assist them in the weeks ahead.

With rising prices, and reduced finances many families are struggling more this year then ever before. The Walter White Community Center helps with many other things through out the month that the people of River Rouge have become accustom too. For instance they provide a free computer lab to those in the area that can not afford internet or even a computer. The computer lab consists of 10-15 computers that allow many each day access to the World Wide Web.

Yes! This great organization is touching people one stomach at a time! It took me to live in Detroit for 8 years and move to River Rouge to find this great organization. I hope this article helps you find them faster!

The PB & J Outreach helps hundreds of families across Detroit each week, providing them with yes, PB & J sandwiches among other great treats. They assist the homeless, the struggling, and those a little tight in our fair city each week.

Though the PB & J outreach families get assistance with food that can help them make it a few extra days, hygiene products, and even clothing (if they can find their size). They are in need of donations and of course an extra supply of Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches each week to keep this great program going.

Volunteers that attend these great weekly events remember the regulars, and greet the new comers with a smile as early as 7:30am each Saturday morning! There are three sites including a main site located at Martin Luther King and 3rd Street in Detroit Michigan each Saturday. The main site has over 150-200 regulars standing outside when they get there! Its truly amazing to see.
