Beginner Field Hockey Clinic

Grades 3 through 8

When: March 24, 2012

Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Cost: $35.00

Riverfront Sports is excited to introduce their field hockey clinic for beginners. If your child is interested in the sport of field hockey, this program is perfect. It is an opportunity to learn one of the areas fastest growing sports.

Our program centers around your child having fun while they learn the necessary skills of field hockey like: hand-eye coordination, agility, finesse, balance, passing, offense, and most importantly teamwork. The coaching staff consists of knowledgeable and experienced field hockey coaches and players, who are excited to teach and coach the sport to your children.

The first two hours of the clinic will be used for instruction, skills and drills, while the remaining 30 minutes will be used for scrimmaging and small game play.

Riverfront will provide the following equipment if you do not have it: field hockey sticks and field hockey balls. We ask that your child come prepared with proper protective gear such as: shin guards, a mouth guard and sneakers. However, if you are interested in purchasing your own equipment, we have provided a helpful site for you. Beginner Field Hockey Clinic

This session will be taught by current Keystone College Assistant Field Hockey coach Kellina Yarrish. Kellina’s goal is to provide the foundation for a great field hockey experience for many years to come.

Intermediate Field Hockey Clinic

Grades 3 through 8

When: March 31, 2012

Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Cost: $35.00

This Intermediate Clinic is designed for players who are familiar with the game, but are excited about learning more about field hockey.

This clinic will focus on skill development and fun game play.

The first part of the clinic will focus on: skill stations, instruction and offensive and defensive techniques. The last part of the clinic will be set aside for small game play.

Each player will be responsible to bring their own: mouthpiece, shin guards, water bottle, field hockey stick and eye guards (optional). Riverfront Sports will provide each player with their own ball.

High School Clinic and 7v7 Tournament

Grades 9 through 12

April 21^st from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

April 22^nd from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Cost: $75.00 per person

$65.00 per person if signed up as a team

(A team of 8 or more girls)

Riverfront Sports is excited to announce their first annual high school field hockey clinic and 7v7 tournament.

The first day of the clinic will focus on:

-Individual skills and stickwork

-Offensive and defensive techniques

-Skill stations

-Small game play

The second day of the clinic will be set aside for competitive 7v7 tournament play.

Each player is expected to bring one pair of field hockey shoes or sneakers, shorts, sweats, towels, mouthpiece, eye guards (optional), shinguards, water bottle, and field hockey stick. Riverfront will provide each player with a ball and T-shirt.

Kellina’s Bio

Kellina started her coaching career as the Assistant Field hockey coach at Marywood University. Prior to coaching Kellina played high school field hockey at Honesdale High School. Upon graduation she headed to East Stroudsburg University to play Division II field hockey as a Lady Warrior. She then transferred to Keystone College where she played at the Division III level for two years while leading her team to undefeated conference play in the 2009 season. Kellina found her way back to where she was once a Giant to start her second season as Assistant Field Hockey coach at Keystone College.

Micro Soccer begins on February 20th and classes are available on a variety of days and times.

Riverfront Sports “No School” Soccer Clinic

Where: Riverfront Sports Complex

When: Monday, Feburary20, 2012 (NO school….President’s day)

Time: 9 to noon (3 hours)

Cost: $20 per child (if you pre-register online)… $25 if you register that day

This session is limited to ONLY 30 players….PLEASE register online

For: boys and girls ages 5-12 (kindergarten-sixth grade)

What to bring: t-shirt, shorts, shin-guards (mandatory), socks that cover your shin-guards, cleats or sneakers. Snacks will be available so bring a little spending money.

Why? This clinic is designed for your child to learn some things about soccer and to have FUN while they are learning. We will be teaching many of the skills that we go over in our Riverfront Soccer Academy and summer soccer camps, along with playing fun soccer games that re-enforce the fundamentals of the game of soccer. Even though there is “no school” hopefully your child will learn something and have fun doing it!

Most Important Reason: April and May we will be having our 4v4 league again. We had 125 kids last year and we are shooting for 150 this year. This would be a great jump start to get your juices flow’ in to play some spring soccer here at Riverfront Sports.

Riverfront Sports has many programs to help your child with learning and enjoying the game of soccer. We have our Micro Soccer Academy for children ages 2-6. Our Soccer Academy is for kids ages 7-12. Due to the inclement weather, the EPYSA U13 Boys Indoor Cup scheduled for Saturday, January 21st has been postponed (both Premier and Challenge Levels). Important note: This is a very “special” clinic. First is the great price. Second, many of your kids took a break after the fall season. Maybe your child is going to be playing in our league for second session or they were thinking of joining our academy. This would be an excellent opportunity to get some “touches” on the ball.

Coaches, parents and players, we are 5 weeks away from starting our 2^nd indoor session. I’m sending this reminder to you so you and your players can be ready and organized when our 2^nd session begins here at Riverfront Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012.

What a busy first session we our having at the end of 2011! A quick recap of our programs. We have over 210 kids in our Micro Academy and 70 kids in our Soccer Academy. We have 80 kids in our HS training on Tuesday nights and over 25 kids in our U8 developmental league on Saturday mornings. A record 32 teams in our U10/ 12 leagues on Friday evenings, 18 U14 teams and 51 high school teams. There are 30 adult soccer teams and 20 adult flag football teams. Eight soccer teams train once a week from Nov.-March. Scranton Miners Baseball and USA Futures field hockey will be training every week from Jan.-March. Many tournaments happening Jan.-March. We had over 30 kids attend our NO SCHOOL soccer clinic and on top of all that we have over 12 birthday parties every week!!

Join the FUN! You’ll like it, you’ll love it, and you’ll want more of it!!!

9 games / Team Fee $765 (includes ref fees) REGISTRATION deadline: Sat, January 14th

U10 (7v7+keeper)/ U12 (6v6+keeper)… 25 min. halves… since this is the 2^nd session we will divide into rec and competitive divisions.

*No one may be born before Aug, 1, 2001 and play in the U10 league *No one may be born before Aug. 1, 1999 and play in the U12 league.

U14 Jan. 19-Mar.15th…..Thursday’s/ 6:00-9pm (Sat. 4-9pm if needed)
