Damn its been a while. Its been a long time since doing any personal works. Ive been working as a smartphone game illustrator in Japan for the past 6 months while doing freelance work on the side. Been spending my free time meeting with friends and clubbing haha! Something I rarely talk about is that I love to dance. I used to practice everyday before getting more serious with illustration. Now its just a side thing that I can enjoy from time to time.

I dont have much to post besides old stuff that never got posted. I hope Ill be able to post the stuff Im working on at some point.

I started doing digital commissions. Unfortunately I had to close them since Ive underestimated the amount of time I had. This is the first one finished along with the test piece at the bottom.

最近仕事の絵のほうが個人絵より描いています。でも、Pixelovelyからちょっと練習した。もしライフドラーウイングの従業とかに行けないなら、Pixelovelyは逆にいいだと思う。

Been busting mostly work over personal stuff these days. But I have done some studies from Pixelovely. Its a really great resource if you dont have a life drawing session you can go to.

僕は今まで数ヶ月くらいの間にゲームやってないんだ。挌闘ゲームが大好きで、もう発売したストリートファイターX鉄拳が欲しがる！昔挌闘ゲームのキャラクターからインスピレーションが受けて、デザイナーとかイラストレーターになろうと考えた。だから欲しがる！でも自分の作品を作ったり、どこかに出かけた方が満足できる。もうちょっと買うのを待つ。

I havent been playing video games these last few months. I love fighting games so Ive really been wanting to get the new SFXTekken. I was so inspired by fighting game characters in the past I felt I wanted to become a designer/illustrator. Makes me want to get it more. Though doing person works and going out is far more gratifying. Ill try to wait a while before I buy another game...

もうちょっと一ヶ月になった。更新したのは依頼の過程と絵の勉強。

最初から左上で小さなポーズを描いて決めたポーズを下書きして最後は自分の下書きをトレースする＾＾。

Jeezus, its been almost a month. Droppin some more commission steps along with some studies.

The usual run down. Thumbs for the pose, loose rough keeping the lines light then proceed to trace over my own lines.:)

最近本業とフリーランスと個人のイラストをバランスすることはやりがいのあることです。夜になって、疲れるんですけど、色んなことをやりましたという気持ちいいがあって、納得できる。週末出かけて、いいリフレッシュだよね。昨日Dr.Sketchyに行って、来週くらいあそこで取った写真と描いたものをシェアーする。

下記2010の無名の絵です。

These days, balancing a day job with freelance and personal work has been quite challenging. Im usually pooped by the end of the day but I feel better knowing I got something from the day. Makes getting out on the weekends a nice refresh. Went to Dr. Sketchy yesterday. Ill share those pics when the photographer posts them.

I want to thank everybody for coming out! Procaster crashed a few times towards the end. There are a few more over at livestream.com if you want to see the last parts. Though not much. It will take some time getting used to talking and doing art at the same time. I hope that the stream proved useful and I hope to do more in the future.

Taking some time to do more backgrounds since most of the work I'm doing these days is characters. BGs are kicking my a$$! Studies in particular. When Im looking at a photo or painting to study, I believe I'm choosing the colour I'm seeing but then its totally wrong. Colours appear quite differently depending on what they're sitting next to. Desaturated yellow-browns elude me.

I'm not to big on making blogs personal but I have something I would like to share. I've been quite pessimistic about my artwork. Not all times but when I have an undesirable outcome. It's something I feel deep within my soul, "I'm not good enough." Its an expression I've felt since I was young and has been dragging me down my whole life. This not only applies to art but other areas of life. Eliminating all negativity about myself from my mind has become my main goal in the past few months but I've only recently been taking it more seriously. And I know that if I keep this up, I cannot move forward. Its late, but its time to let go of all my past conditioning.

＾スマートフォーンやっと手に入れた！長い間欲しかった。数ヶ月くらい待ってて、種類とか機能はかなり増えてきたんだよね。

^Finally got a smart phone! We've been wanting one for months. It was worth the wait since since the number of types increased along with the functions.

＾Wakkawaと言うアーティストのストリームを見て、その技術をちょっと参考にして、描いた。やりすぎかな～。

I checked out a few of Wakkawa's streams and tried to use some of the techniques he was using. Maybe it came out looking too much like his work?

^Went to Laketown, a humungous mall thats pretty close. Used to go quite often when it first opened. We usually go there to eat Sendai cow tongue which is in the 3rd pick. Maybe I didnt notice before but they put 10 yen message chairs in the mall. After walking around so much, it was a nice break. Also played that new DB arcade game. Its pretty damn fun!

Styled my Kayo's clothing a while back. Pretty much everything above the waist is my clothing haha.

2枚目と3枚目の間,何も保存していないから、過程はあまり見えないかな。基本的にスケッチして、スケッチの下から塗って、最後に上から塗ります。微妙かな...

Kind of a hop, skip, uber jump here since I didnt save anything inbetween step 2 and 3. Basically, I sketch, underpaint then overpaint. Useless...I know...

アメリカに帰るのが残念だけど、家族と友達に会える。一時的なことだっと思う。
We will be heading back to America. Hopefully this will be temporary.

When the 9.0 quake struck, I spent 2 hours outside at the local park where many others in the neighborhood were. It seemed so unsafe to go back to the apt. The amount of aftershocks was unbelievable. It had to have been every 5 to 15 min for the first 3 days it happened and that is no exaggeration. Even now we are still getting quakes more than a week later but they are originating from different areas. Right now our main concern is the radiation. Even though we will return to California, Im still thinking about the fact that we will be staying even closer to another power plant. In the last year, the earthquakes have moved along the Pacific fault line first with Chile, New Zealand and then Japan. Im no expert but I felt like Alaska, Cali, or Mexico might be hit with one in the future. We will see how this all goes. My heart goes out to those effected by mother nature.
