The Grey Area*

Being able to see in color is such a blessing in disguise.

A double edged sword.
We are privileged enough to live in such a beautiful and colorful world.

Sadly this gift also comes with a darkside.

It allows us to judge each other based on the color of our skin.

Therefore I choose to be color blind.

Why would this be better, if you can still see the difference between black and white?

The difference is there is a lot more grey.

Snow: A New Beginning. (Poetry Sunday*)

A New Beginning.

I wasn’t planning on writing anything about the snow, but something changed my mind.

As I was walking home last night in yet another snow storm.

I felt each and every single snow flake that fell and made contact with my bare skin.

I looked around and for once in a long-time it was quiet and peacful, just me and my thoughts.

Not even a single soul outside besides me and Mother Nature, walking together holding hands.

No sounds of roaring car engines, no artificial lights, tire tracks or footsteps.

Just the sound of me breathing, the sound of the wind and the snow crunching beneath the soles of my shoes.

I can see everything around me despite all of the snow flakes that have found their final resting place on my glasses.

I can even see my breath each time I exhale, I feel num and forget about the cold and how much my hands are hurting.

It’s then I realized that there isn’t a sight more prettier than virgin snow.

Untouched by modernization and the filth of the city staining its pale white skin.

I love the snow, because it reminds me of the way things were meant to be, Mother Nature in its purest form.

Using the world as her canvas, painting it all white.

As if it’s her way of hitting the reset button and giving us a fresh new start.

Tomorrow is a brand new day.

Society

When we look up all we see is a roof

We can't even see the sky, isn't the sky supposed to be the limit?

Heaven's in our faces but we can't touch it

Instead we're limited by having a roof over our heads

Aren't we supposed to be happy? Have we become that ungrateful? Consumed by greed?

All a roof does is protect us from all the harsh elements out there

But we can't even call this a home, because the walls are so cold and empty
A false sense of security

A project that will forever be under construction

Us.

How long is infinity?

What happens the moment you stop breathing?

It all comes flowing out like I slit my wrist, written in blood
My thoughts and feelings stain the pad, blood is my ink of choice
Long after I’m gone my words will live on

I shed bloody tears when you left me, on that day a part of me died along with you never to return

My Nigga you’ve been with me from the moment I took my first breath
I grew up learning from my own lessons, Nigga you never taught me a damn thing
Nigga it seemed like you were there to hate on the things I loved
Every dream I had, Nigga you were there to crush it
Nigga have you ever seen me play? But you were there on cue to hate on my game, and question my love for it, I thought myself to play the game, Nigga that’s why I have the heart of a lion

Nigga all those times I waited on you, and as expected you never showed up, but I still kept hope

Echoes In The Dark (Nostalgia) Dedicated To .....

All I hear are the echoes of my voice
Every time my heart beats it echoes because of the emptiness inside me
Without you my soul feels hollow like a dead tree
Thinking about the past fills me up with joy, but this never lasts for more than a few seconds
Never imagined I’d be alone, but it’s just me and my sorrow repeating over and over again
It starts with a loud screech and ends in a soft whisper
Why let me experience such happiness for only a few precious seconds?
These seconds I have come to cherish so much
Everyday I look forward to these joy filled seconds when I’m no longer alone and can’t hear the echoes of my voice
Still I find myself all alone, stuck in my own world, just me and my trusty echoes
