Apart from watching Astro on Demand's Monday to Friday serials, I hardly have the time to watch any other shows or news on TV. Yesterday was one of those rare days where I sit down to watch a show with my daughter called "Just for laughs gags". It is a show about pranks being played on innocent people. Some of the gags are real silly and funny. I am really surprised by how sporting those victims are when they realised they have been pranked. None of them showed any anger or felt insulted at all.

The episode I watch yesterday is really funny. It is really hilarious watching the faces and reaction from the victims when they turn around and saw "Jesus" carrying the same cross as they were along the road. Watch!

In their youth Lau Chun Hung (Bowie Lam), Sung Yee Long (Moses Chan), Cheng Chun Hin (Kenny Wong) together with the deceased Hui Ka Ming are good friends and band mates. During a mountaineering trip, the four are stranded on a snow bound mountain and out of desperation Hui Ka Ming is killed and eaten by the other three. This event has a traumatic effect on their friendship, and their friendship with Yip Chi Yan (Charmaine Sheh), Ka Ming's girl friend, leading the previously close group to go their separate ways.

Eighteen years later Yip Chi Yan remains haunted by the memory of Ka Ming, trying to regain what she had with him in part with her husband and and in part with her lover, but finding neither a complete replacement for her lost love breaks with them both. Troubled she loses track of time while alone in the wilderness, sparking a missing persons alert which becomes the catalyst for the four estranged friends to meet again. Though she was Ka Ming's girl friend all four band mates were in love with her and the three survivors remain in love with her.

Suffering from selective amnesia Cheng Chun Hin is unable to remember the mountaineering trip, and out of nostalgia of their past friendship he strives to bring the friends back together. This he achieves by recalling a lost song written by Ka Ming just before his death, although he had strove to do so for eighteen years he is only able to finally do so after encountering Chi Yan again. The rebuilding of their friendship is reflected in the reconstruction of the lost song, as they don again their roles of lead guitar, drummer and bassist.

However just as the friends learn to let go of the past Ka Ming's remains are discovered on the mountain.

One day, he announced Quan as his new concubine, which angered Empress Shencheng (Myolie Wu). Partnering up with Empress Dowager, the two vowed to eradicate Quan using many different schemes to harm her. As Quan wanted to protect herself, she did not hesitate to battle the Empress to the end. During their battle, Quan accidentally discovered a major plot happening in the royal harem. Who is behind this big plot? Who will be the winner in this intense battle in the royal harem?

Main cast

Jessica Hsuan as Niohuru Yee-lan (鈕祜祿·伊蘭), the Consort Tsuen (全妃皇贵妃) — the Do-kwong Emperor's favourite consort and childhood crush. She was once married to Do-kwong's older brother Min-yi; however, he went missing after he went to control a rebellion in Northwest China a few months after their marriage. Yee-lan is forced to become a human sacrifice for Mini-yi's funeral ceremony by the orders of Empress Dowager Kung-chee, who sees Yee-lan as unfortunate and cursed. Do-kwong saves Yee-lan from her death and announces that he will take her hand in marriage. Although Yee-lan agrees to become his consort, she still holds the belief that Min-yi is alive, and once escaped palace grounds to search for him. Yee-lan eventually falls in love with Do-kwong, who honoured her as an individual and wife.

Myolie Wu as Tunggiya Yuen-yuen (佟佳·沅宛), the Empress Consort Hao-sun (孝慎皇后) — Do-kwong's first empress consort and Yee-lan's main rival. Her coronation as Empress is disrupted by Do-kwong when he goes to save Yee-lan from burial. Jealous of Do-kwong's favouritism towards Yee-lan, and a fear of losing her title as Empress, Yuen-yuen attempts to strip Yee-lan from power by dispatching a spy to Yee-lan's palace chamber. Yuen-yuen becomes desperate to conceive a son and is later deposed of her title as Empress after Do-kwong discovers her illicit affair with Min-yan.

Sunny Chan as the Do-kwong Emperor (道光帝) — the benevolent Qing Dynasty emperor who naturally became the successor due to the death of his older brother, Min-yi. He has had a crush on Yee-lan since youth, but because Yee-lan and Min-yi were in love, he decided to forgo his pursuits. Do-kwong interrupts Yuen-yuen's Empress coronation in order to save Yee-lan from her burial, and soon announces to take her hand in marriage, much to the dismay of Yuen-yuen and Kung-chee. Do-kwong is extremely close to his brothers and muses that if Min-yi hadn't died, he would have been crowned instead.

Joel Chan as Min-yan, the Prince Sui (瑞親王綿忻) — Do-kwong's younger half-brother and best friend. Min-yan extremely respects his older brother and purposefully presents himself in a much harsher and militaristic image in court to highlight Do-kwong's more sincere and benevolent image. Min-yan was Yuen-yuen's lover before she married Do-kwong. Though he still harbours feelings for her, Min-yan is disgusted by Yuen-yuen's calculating and cunning schemes for power. Yuen-yuen later seduces Min-yan, and he sires a son with her. Influenced by Kung-chee and Yuen-yuen, Min-yan begins to develop a growing dissent towards Do-kwong's rule, and ultimately decides to overthrow him.

Gigi Wong as Empress Dowager Kung-chee (恭慈皇太后) — Do-kwong's stepmother and Min-yan's mother. Although Do-kwong is not her biological son, he is the most filial. Kung-chee believes Yee-lan is creating tension between her and Do-kwong, and finds her power in court to be weakening. She later convinces Min-yan to start a coup to overthrow Do-kwong.

Nancy Wu as Choi-lam (彩藍) — born Borjigit Ching-yu (博爾濟吉特·静瑜), the maiden spy Yuen-yuen sends to spy on Yee-lan. Choi-lam later changes her loyalty to serve Yee-lan, but is unhappy with her ambiguous relationship with her two masters. She later wins the emperor's favour and eventually becomes Consort Ching (靜妃).

I love pork chops. I remembered there was a restoran called Suntory in Seremban opposite the old Oriental Bank (both the restaurant and bank has now closed down) where they served the most delicious pork chop rice. The portion is big and the price is reasonable. Hubby and I will usually go there to have the pork chop rice every weekend.

Con Artist, Please Go Play Far Far Away

Previously I have read and heard a lot from friends and from newspaper new about those "China" con-artist trying to con people by making up some stories about kidnapping their kids/kins etc as well as those "Immigration tax" scams, credit card & bank account scams. I never for one minute thought that I would be one of those unlucky people picked to be played on.

The story is like this.

This afternoon about 2:22 pm (wow lucky number..must go buy 4-ekor, magnum & sports Toto) from a guy who claimed he was from Hong Leong Bank Collection department. He called my mobile and his number showed 03-76268899. (I later checked with HL Bank and this is actually HL's number). I don't know what or how those con artist managed to show HL's number as their call number.

Anyways, he told me that I have a HL Gold Mastercard under my name 5142-1932-4450-3239 (wow...there we go again, so many numbers we can bet on at the lottery centre) and the outstanding amount is more than RM 6000 and I have defaulted two months payment etc. He further says that the card was applied on 15 September 2011 and the credit limit is RM10,000.

I told him I have never apply nor owned a HL gold card. At that point, he got excited and exclaimed "OH NO!! You're sure you have not applied or used the card? He asked this questions at least five times.

I repeatedly told him nope and asked him where the card holder usually swiped the card. He told me the card were used at Poh Kong Mid Valley...Poh Kong Sunway Pyramid....etc. Some more he say the card was sent to No. 24 Jalan Malim, Taman Pelangi, 81600 Johor Bahru.

He exclaimed a few more times again that "This is very serious matter....you must report to Bank Negara immediately. Can you please wait on the line and I will connect Bank Negara for you and they will help you"

I asked him "What has this got to do with Bank Negara?" Shouldn't it be the police that I should be talking to? He then quickly says "After you have talk to Bank Negara, I will also help connect you to the police station to make a report...all these through the phone"

HOW CONVENIENT!!!!??????

At this point, I was tired of playing the "innocent me" game with him. I told him that I am sure he has a lot of work to do and I do not wish to bother him with my "problem" I also told him I know some big shots in the police stations, as well as one or two bank negara officers and also a few Government Ministers in putrajaya who are my boss's friends. I told him that I am sure that if I ask them for help, they will surely be able to help me. So thank you very much, Mr. Tan for your help.

I was very polite, I say tqvm again to him and put down the phone gently while he was still babbling about how he can help me with bank negara..............................toot...toot.....toot...

Btw, the whole phone conversation was conducted in Mandarin!! As a precaution, I did called up Hong Leong Bank to lodge a complaint and have given them the details of what transpired this afternoon. They also confirmed to me that the so called credit card number does not exist in their system.

His Face Ring A Bell?

After Quasimodo's death, the bishop of the Cathedral of Notre Dame sent word through the streets of Paris that a new bell ringer was needed. The bishop decided that he would conduct the interviews personally and went up into the belfry to begin the screening process.

After observing several applicants demonstrate their skills, he had decided to call it a day. Just then, an armless man approached him and announced that he was there to apply for the bell ringer's job.

The bishop was incredulous. 'You have no arms !'

'No matter,' said the man. 'Observe !' And he began striking the bells with his face, producing a beautiful melody on the carillon. The bishop listened in astonishment; convinced he had finally found a replacement for

Quasimodo.

But suddenly, as he rushed forward to strike the bell, the armless man tripped and plunged headlong out of the belfry window to his death in the street below. The stunned bishop rushed down two hundred and ninety five church steps, when he reached the street, a crowd had gathered around the fallen figure, drawn by the beautiful music they had heard only moment before.

As they silently parted to let the bishop through, one of them asked, 'Bishop, who was this man ?

'I don't know his name,' the bishop sadly replied,

The bishop agreed to give the man an audition, and, as the armless man's brother stooped to pick up a mallet to strike the first bell, he groaned, clutched at his chest, twirled around, and died on the spot.

Two monks, hearing the bishop's cries of grief at this second tragedy, rushed up the stairs to his side.

'What has happened ? Who is this man ?' the first monk asked breathlessly.

'I don't know his name,' sighed the distraught bishop, 'but...'

Yesterday, as I was driving home from Ipoh and somewhere after Simpang Pulai, at about 6pm cruising with my Hilux at 120km/hr at the fast lane. Suddenly I heard a loud burst as if the the rear part of my car was disintegrated. I looked at the rear mirror and saw thick heavy white smoke at the left side of my car. Luckily the ABS was working well and I managed to control the car, I turned on the signal light and pull over to the roadside shoulder. I called the Plus Helpline immediately: 1-800-880-000. The followings were the conversation.

Tibetan Mastiff is listed by China as the second class state protected animal and is also a type of rare species of dogs in the world.

This "oriental super dog" has become the most sought after pet in China today and each of them could fetch up to a few million yuan.

A rich Malaysian businessman has recently spent almost ten million yuan (approximately RM5 million) to import five Tibetan mastiffs to Malaysia. He has also hired two maids to specifically take care of these dogs as well as ten other expensive dogs in his possession.

His monthly "maintenance expenses" on the dogs are estimated at around RM13, 000.
