Man have I been a slacker or what? It's been since Dec 21 since my last blog post..Why? I have no idea. I mean it's not like I have a real job to keep me from posting, or like I am swamped on a Saturday morning at 6am in the KDKB studio. The only reason..I don't know. But no more.

So is it to late for me to say Happy New Year and all that sh*t? Well there I said it.

I can't believe it's already mid-January, and here we go to begin the KDKB 40th anniversary. 40 years is impressive for a radio station, especially one with the heritage that KDKB has...This station has never even flipped formats which is hard to believe. It's always been a rocker. You got to love that.

Of course this is my second time around here at KDKB and I am glad they let me come back. It's been a lot of fun in the few months I've been back. I'm ready for the concerts and such that are lined up. This weekend I will be hitting Styx at Wild Horse Pass. I am trying to think if I have ever seen Styx.. I don't think I have. I think I've only seen Damn Yankees perform Styx classics. It doesn't matter. It will be a good show.

Then of course on Wednesday it's Ozzy & Slash. I am excited to see Slash with Myles Kennedy. I've seen him with the Snakepit band, but the singers never had the pipes Myles has. I will see you at the show. Since I'm always talking about it on the air..Here is the video featuring Fergie...and Damn to trade places with Slash for the video shoot..

The Dew Never Lets Me Down

Ah yes..Is it really believable that I am getting into the swing of things of this early sh*t? Waking up at 430 is a world I am not used to in anyway. The good thing is I am home by 11 or 11:30 am and I have the rest of the day to get stuff done - Translation - try not to fall asleep. Today I was impressed that I didn't even get my morning Mountain Dew until 8. I am pretty sure "The Dew" is way better than this energy drink we have floating around the station. I drank one of these so called energy drinks yesterday at about 830am and I was sound asleep by 11am. No Mountain Dew has ever done that to me.

I was talking to a former co-worker from Raleigh, Bob the Blade, this morning and he was talking about how his show had just put out their top ten greatest guitar intros in rock. He challenged me to come up with mine. I will be honest his is pretty damn good. You can see his here:

There are only a few I disagree with, but I am pretty sure mine will be completely different. I would never include Rush as well I hate those damn Canadians. I respect them and their work I am just not a fan. They do seem like some cool cats though. I will be posting mine in the next couple days. I need to sit down and think about this one.

Remember if you are looking for some good holiday gifts..It has to be concert tickets. Shopping at home online without ever having to leave the house and dealing with crowds and road rage...It's a beautiful thing. Trust me..Plus your loved ones will thank you for getting them out of the house.

Good God It's F'ing Early

I don't know how morning shows do it. I just don't know how people get up earlier than the ass crack of dawn to do a radio show. Today I had the Roadie breakfast of champions - a Mountain Dew & Brown Sugar Pop Tarts, and then I even added a freaking Orange Fuel energy drink and I was still dragging ass. I mean damn. That was a sugar rush just waiting to kick in, but not today.

I guess this is why I have never had and probably never will have a morning show. 430am is just to damn early to get out of bed..EVER.

This is way off topic but I had to throw this out there..I'm a big muppets fan and I posted this on MFNRocks.com. Dave Grohl is possibly going to make a cameo appearance in a new Muppets movie. I have to say that is pretty bad ass. Read it here.

Speaking of movies has anyone checked out "Tron"? I have heard it's really good. I just can't bring myself to go to the movies anymore. I can believe its got to be good with all the movie technology that can be done in comparison to when the original was released. If someone checks it out feel free to let me know how it is. I guess I should update this more than when I am just on the air, I mean it's not like I have anything else to do right? Right.

So last night I hit up Alice Cooper's Christmas pudding, and I have to say it was pretty cool. That was my first time checking it out. It's kind of weird walking around and seeing Alice with his kids and such. Crazy. Alice is still one of the coolest guys though. A lot of people really should take note from him. By that I mean just being cool with fans and he is just that..Takes pics, signs autographs, and never once seems to be dis-interested.

Cheech Marin another cool cat, and funny as hell still. Brad Gillis of Night Ranger was a good dude, but I am pretty sure he was just happy anyone knew who he was.

Rob Zombie...eh..decent dude..Always puts on a kick ass live show though. I've seen him numerous times and never been let down even with the short set last night at Christmas Pudding. The band performed in Santa Claus outfits and that was pretty bad ass.

Also just a reminder I will be filling in for the Sludge Nation all this week as they are taking a vacation for the holidays..

Another Saturday shift down. Let me tell you what..Getting up at 5am sucks, but getting up at 5am on a Saturday is even worse. Sundays too. The only good thing about getting up that early is that I get to roll into a pretty kick ass job. Remember I don't think I have ever had a real job and I am trying to keep it that way. I like to think I am doing a fine job of maintaining that record.

Tonight is Brian Regan at the Comerica Theater. This guy is hilarious. For a guy who doesn't use any foul language in his show he is one of the funniest guys out there.

I have never been much of a Jennifer Love Hewitt fan, but I can't pass up showing you this pic..Damn she looks good.

I have also decided I might have to start watching the Real Housewives of Orange County...Even though this chick isn't married..who really gives a shit? Not me. Lets just take a moment and admire her bisexual beauty. Yep Bisexual.

Did I mention she was from Brazil also? Oh yea and her name is Fernanda Rocha. Even her name is hot.

Four Shifts Down

Well what a weekend it was..Four shifts down at KDKB once again. I am flattered that you guys like me enough to have me on the air 4 times in one weekend...What is the world coming to?

Saturday night was definitely interesting as I am pretty sure everyone who called in was hammered. I love listeners here as you are just brutally honest. It goes something like this:

Me: KDKB whats happening?
Listener: Can you play me (insert your song)
Me: Sure...Where you calling from...

Listener: (Insert your location)
Me: Are you drunk?
Listener: YES!
ME: Awesome have a great night.

This was the typical call coming in. Always makes for a fun evening.

The other thing about the 4 shifts in a weekend is finding out how much sleep I don't need. I think I slept about 5 hours this entire weekend. It really is all about MY breakfast of champions. Brown sugar Pop Tarts and a Mountain Dew..That will kick in your sugar rush for the day.

On a side note...Do not miss the Ozzy / Slash show on January 26th at the Comerica Theater. With that being said..You have to see Fergie in all her hotness in the video for Beautiful Dangerous. DAMN!

Oh Yea a Little Four Play

I got some four play this weekend..How's that for personal? TMI? Ah you sick bastards I was talking about the four play weekend on KDKB. It's always good when we change things up and we didn't just bust out the four songs you would expect, which was definitely a nice change. Predictable radio is boring. I am thinking one of my favorite four plays this weekend was from the Cult.

The Cult is one of those bands that at first I only liked certain songs and then over the years you come to realize is such a kick ass band. I believe a couple of their CD's will continue to be played for many years. "Sonic Temple" being one of those.

This weekend was also interesting as I had a few more of you listeners call me up and welcome me back to the station. When that happens you really find out who the die hards are. I have been gone for roughly three years and I obviously made a connection with a few people. Thanks. Or at least I like to think I did. Yea..Lets leave it at that.. I am going to say.. I made an impression on you three years ago and you still love me...Maybe that is raise material? I doubt it. The better question is probably Raise? What's that?

Holy Sh*t It's Been a While

Man I am a slacker these days. I haven't updated this page in a long ass time. There is a good reason...Well actually a few good reasons. I won't go into them all, but one big reason was that I was off the air for a long ass time. Now I am back on the mighty 93.3 KDKB. I am just pulling weekends and misc fill-ins for everyone and I can't complain.

I just got back here to the Phoenix area at the end of October and I am glad to be back. It's just downright awesome here. By far some of the best weather and how can I forget some damn good looking women.

I love Phoenix.

Magic / Lakers / Suns and Randomness

First things first...It was a pretty good weekend got to have some cold ones with friends and watch some sports. I don't know what the hell the Orlando Magic are doing, but I am pretty sure my old high school team could have out played them on Saturday night. They are about to get swept right out of the playoffs. At this point I just want the Lakers to lose. I hate that team.

The only time I liked the Lakers was when Dennis Rodman was on the team. I would love to see the Phoenix Suns beat the Lakers, but I am just not seeing that right now even though I am very happy they won on Sunday night. There is something about Kobe Bryant that just pisses me off. I think if the Celtics keep playing like they are they will beat the Lakers. It will be cool to see the old rivalry of the Celtics and Lakers in the World Championship.

It's pretty amazing to me that Mark Cuban was fined 100K for talking about Lebron James in an interview. What a ridiculous rule in the NBA. Is it really necessary for Obama to tell us how great it would be for Lebron to go to the Bulls? I would say know. The sad thing is Obama probably knows more about the Bulls than he does the AZ immigration Law.

It's now hit that time of the year when there are no TV shows to watch anymore. It's great for that to happen so I am not glued to my DVR, but it sucks for those nights when I have nothing to do that there's nothing on. I do have to say I'm glad the TV show Lost is over.

I just don't understand why Hugh Hefner would pay money to have Rachel Uchitel in his magazine without baring it all. We...I mean I only buy Playboy to see whats going on downstairs. (Well I don't buy Playboy it's all on the Internet anyway..)
I mean she will bang married dudes, show some tits and ass in a magazine but still won't show us her vagina? Really? That's just ridiculous. Not only did she get paid from Tiger about 10 million in hush money supposedly, and now she is getting more coin to show her skank ass in Playboy and all she had to do was bang a couple of married dudes. Unreal.

She does have some nice boobs. I will give her that.

Now Kendra Wilkinson has a sex tape. Man what's the deal? Why does everyone have to have a sex tape. I wonder if it's just as lame as the Shauna Sand sex tape. Shauna just f'ing laid there. It really was depressing. Hopefully from the scans it looks like Kendra at least is into it. I will be sure to let you know.

Finally, I missed Bret Michaels on Oprah today..haha.. I was actually kind of curious to see what he had to say. I do find it interesting that there are people who think this is a publicity stunt. Seriously? Why in the hell would anyone make this a publicity stunt? Even if you don't like the guy, it's pretty fucked up that you would think he would fake this shit. I've even read shit like hey can't we trade him for Dio...That is just ridiculous.

Miss Oklahoma Got Screwed

I took a day off yesterday, a well deserved one at that. I sat down on Sunday to watch the Miss USA pageant and I am pretty sure Miss Oklahoma got screwed. She was way hotter than Miss Michigan...Not to mention who cares about Michigan besides Jeff Daniels? Not to Say Oklahoma is a better state, but it is. It's at least warmer there and not close to Canada. Look at Miss Oklahoma:

She is f'ing hot. Miss Michigan is good looking to, but not anywhere near Oklahoma. From the recent pictures though Miss Michigan can certainly pole dance which leads me to believe when her reign is over she may have a new career. Believe me there is nothing wrong with being a stripper. I actually fully support the stripper cause.

My personal feeling she took on the immigration question and nailed it. She did stay PC about it, but still gave a good answer. I am not one to go all political here but this is just ridiculous. A girl gives an honest answer and she is screwed out of being Miss USA. OR maybe they decided to give Miss USA to Michigan since she is an Arab-American and all of the sudden we need to show everyone that we aren't profiling against them?

It really doesn't matter what the issue is Obama and his staff are jsut going to apologize to the world about the U.S. being a fucking ass kicker bad ass nation. I am not going to apologize for us being a bunch of bad ass mofos. It doesn't matter what we do the rest of the world is never going to like us. No one is standing up for us anymore, it just seems we are apologizing everywhere.

Ronnie James Dio / Joan Jett

Let me first start by saying I am pretty bummed by the loss of Ronnie James Dio. I will get back to that in a minute.

The weekend was pretty awesome. I headed down south to see Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and I have to say she was pretty good. She still looks great. From what I could tell she still has a great ass. The leather pants may have helped that, but either way she looked good. She played everything you would have expected, even though I was surprised that I Love Rock n Roll was not her last song. Songs I didn't know I will be honest I felt bored, but the ones I knew I loved it. She is awesome. One rock chick that has stood the test of time. I will share one of my favorite Joan Jett tunes.

It did suck that the weekend had to end on such a shitty note with the passing of Ronnie James Dio. I was lucky enough to see him a couple times live. One of those as solo DIO and one with Heaven and Hell. I watched this guy put on a great show at the age of 65. Still had great pipes and put on a great show. I never had the privilege of meeting him, but everyone I've known that had said he was one of the nicest guys in the world. Another great thing about Dio was that I got to meet a great friend of mine through his music. I owe it to the song Holy Diver. She heard the song on the radio and sent an e-mail to thank me and we traded a few e-emails and the rest is history. I still dig the tune Holy Diver, but Heaven and Hell was the first time I ever heard Dio so I would like to share that video with you.

Horns Up! Dio's music will live on for generations.

Jenny McCarthy is single again and out kissing some random dudes. I guess it's time I fill you in on the trip I made to Vegas recently. I didn't say anything because you know the slogan What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. I guess now that word is out I best get packing and get back out to L.A. The best part about all of this is that she is only 37. I finally found someone who is cool and looks great that close to my age.

What are Radio Personalities?

So today as I was searching for jobs and going over my resume I kept thinking about this:

Why do people think radio personalities are idiots? As I was discussing my resume with someone they said to me, "So you have all this radio experience, but you don't want to be in radio?" I simply responded with "No." It's about a career change. Most radio people are creative. I have now ventured into another creative career and I love it. BUT every time someone sees my resume they say, "But you did radio." My response is always yes I did and it was great. To which they say we don't have anything in radio. Again it's my resume it shows my experience and it also includes non-radio jobs I have done.

I did radio and would do it again if the right opportunity came along. Just because one has done radio doesn't make them not hire-able.

Here are just a few things about radio people (in no particular order):
1. Intelligent
2. Creative
3. Think on their feet
4. Can improvise on just about anything
5. THEY HAVE PERSONALITY!

If there is one thing I learned over the past couple years in school is that most of these creative kids that I have gone to class with can't speak. They can draw or Photoshop their ass off, but can't hold a conversation. This is publicly or one on one. The last time I checked being able to communicate is still a big priority to employers. I will say, this is where the internet has changed things for kids. When I grew up you had to speak to everyone. You couldn't just text someone, grab a cell phone, or send an instant message. It was about setting up a meeting and being face to face with people.

What am I getting to here? I really have no idea. I guess I am tired of people thinking that radio people just get into the business because they can't do anything else. We get into the business just like everyone else did for their career..Because we love it, and that's why we do it. Has the business changed? You bet. Is it going to get better? Maybe, but at the moment it's heading towards the internet and not the FM dial.

I like to think that my potential employers will look at my resume, and think here is a guy who has been around and knows his sh*t. I think my resume is pretty damn good, and compared to a lot of people I have experience and that goes a long way.

Again I went back to school for a career change. I still want to be in the entertainment business. I will have my own business very soon. I also want to work for a great company whether its back in radio, or even something new with a record label, movie company, management company or even an ad agency. I look forward to the future and what it's bringing except the school loan payment.

More Mindless Ramblings

Greetings Earthlings:

Back up to speed on things you might have missed...Two weekends ago I spent my Saturday doing an all day radio sponsored concert down here in Orlando with WJRR. I am not sure why but most radio personalities are just idiots. The staff especially the girl who does 10a to 3p is a f**king windbag. Maybe I am just coming to terms that I am not a fan of chick DJ's? That could be it, but I know there some that are really good.

The bands were awesome though...Sevendust, KORN, Hellyeah were the highlights for me for the day.

Started a new class for school last week and its pretty cool. I love learning things about the web and all it has to offer...you know besides porn.

Last weekend I took it easy on Friday and Saturday, but Sunday was a different story. Myself and some friends tied one on in Lake Mary. Another game of liquor ring toss is in the books and that game went so well I don't even remember all the shots I did except the last one which was Jim Beam.

I also put together a music video for the band Drowning Pool just for shits and giggles and to refresh my skills in Final Cut Pro. Check it out:

There is nothing like video editing, its definitely one of my favorite things to do. I hope to land a gig doing that very soon.

Been a Long Time

As I get back into the swing of things for blogging...There has been a lot of new music lately. First make sure you pick up the new Drowning Pool. A solid CD from beginning to end. Of course the second one for the band with same singer Ryan McCombs, who fronted the band Soil for three albums. You can catch these guys on tour this summer on Ozzfest, which I believe is a joke this year, but that's a whole different story.

Godsmack also just released "The Oracle" and many have you heard the tune Crying Like a Bitch, and I can say if you are into that one you will not be disappointed, but then again you can't really be disappointed by a Godsmack CD.

Finally, in the mew music department Jackyl released "When Moonshine & Dynamite Collide" today. Once I get home I will be purchasing this CD. Check out the video for their lead single "She's not a Drug":

Good Stuff. Look for them on tour even though I believe the band needs to find a new guitar player so Jesse doesn't have to play. Not that he is a bad player but he is such a great front man that you don't quite see the same show as you used to when he didn't play guitar.

Mindless Ramblings

Here I am sitting around watching TV on a Saturday night (yes I know it's an exciting life I lead). I am watching some reruns of the show Wipeout, which makes me laugh my ass off. I don't even care that the course is impossible...it just cracks me up watching people bust their ass. So as I am watching and in a great mood the ASPCA commercials come on and man they are so freaking sad. Now I am against animals being put down and abused just as much as the next guy, but does it have to come on right in the middle of my hilarious TV watching? Talk about a downer. I hate that commercial. No matter what it just makes you feel terrible.

On the upside only about six weeks to go for school. It's crazy how fast this time has gone. I am just doing some freelance gigs right now as school winds down.

I love going to class two times a week for less than 8 hours each day.

My training sessions continue and I continue to get my ass kicked. I have even started walking / jogging in the evening. I don't know what has gotten in to me, but I like it.

Now with all my downtime I manage to do a lot of web surfing and watching youtube.com way to much. The other day I decided to just browse old 80's hairband videos and it was awesome. It's amazing that MTV used to play those videos. I stumbled on this one and I remember this chick Lorraine Lewis...man she is/was so freaking hot. Just watch this video

The Pain is Here

So as I mentioned in the previous post that we are finally in the downhill swing with school so I have some free time on my hands...So I lined up a vacation in August after I have graduated to go to St.Lucia. Which then made decide it's time to get my ass in shape...you know the typical I need to look good for the beach. As luck would have it I did a website for a fitness trainer and man is she kicking my ass. Just started last week and man I have been in some pain. I keep telling myself pain is good in this case. Legs hurt, yep, abs really hurt, yep, shoulders hurt, you betcha...It's crazy but she keeps telling me it will payoff. We shall see. It's not her that has me worried it's my own eating habits, but so far so good. I have began eating the "what's good for you" stuff. We will see if I can stick to it. I'm feeling good about right now.

I have been hearing a lot of hype on this Chickenfoot CD and I must say it's good...but only OK good. It's nothing spectacular. To me it sounds Van Halen-ish with Sammy on vocals. I will admit I like hearing Satriani with a band instead of his solo stuff. You can check it out though I think it's worth it especially when you consider what's out there for music now days.

I am currently listening to the new Robin Trower CD called "What Lies Beneath". I must say you can't be disappointed by Robin Trower. Of course to me nothing will compare to "Bridge of Sighs", but this new one is pretty good.

OK..off to make a strawberry protein drink. At least I sound official right?

The Downhill Swing

Well it's down to the final two months of school. Our class now is to just work on our portfolio. The good thing about going two days a week this month is we have five days off in between.

I have decided at this point that web design is what I am going to focus on, but will continue to work with video and the other media that I have learned at school. I have also decided to continue on and get my Masters Degree in Entertainment Business. I am not sure what I am getting myself into, but it should be interesting. Hopefully over the next couple months there will be a new bryanshaw.com and also a new mfnrocks.com

I have also spent a lot of time on youtube these days. There is so much stuff out there it's ridiculous. I still always end up watching music videos since there really is no outlet for that anymore.

So here it is a Saturday night and I'm just waiting to head out with some friends and thought I would give an update on the ol' blog.

First thing is...I am pretty sick of seeing Obama on TV. I am sick of hearing about his first 100 days. Let the man work...I don't care what your political views are and I don't care who you voted for. I am also tired of hearing how awesome he is and blah blah blah..I am tired of hearing how Bush has fucked everything up. At some point the comedians will have to start talking shit about Obama. Or will they? Even though they do make jokes about Biden...Everything that's going on right now is Bush's fault. Bush hasn't been in office now for a few months and people still talk about him like he is still in office. And one last piece of ranting...Janeane Garofalo the most unfunny woman EVER needs to shut the hell up to. The tea partys happening are not about hating our President. Dumb bitch. For those of you who haven't seen or heard about this... here it is...

Man that chick is so not funny. Keith Olberman is a dumb ass too. Yes I know it's old but again whatever...It's my blog.

I happen to watch Fox news and I happen to think I am quite intellectual.

Now for the most important rant...I stayed down at the Ron Jon resort again in Cocoa Beach last night and had an awesome time. This morning though I was awakened by a screaming little kid at 7:45a.m. Now I understand kids are going to scream but not everyone wants to be awakened at 745 in the morning. Needless to say it was a rough morning.

Down to the final stretch in school. Three months left. Working on web projects for the next three months is going to be cool. A lot of coding and my brain will be mush after a while but it's going to be well worth it.

I am also wanting to get into video. This was a video I did back in October last year. Let's put the views over 1000.

So today I was watching the former hot "sluts" I mean women who were "groupies" I mean friends of the 80's metal bands on VH1 Classic. Damn.. I can only wonder what it was like to have lived in LA in the 80's. I will say some of these chicks on this show "Did it for the Band" are still pretty hot. MILF's if you will.

Bobbie Brown hosts the show and she has put on a few pounds but still looks good. You remember her right? Well if not.. here is the video:

Man watching this show certainly brings back some memories.

Like the hair bands or not it comes to the music they wrote was just about having a good time. Who really wants to hear about your life sucking? Not me...One or the other there was some decent music to come out of that time.

As I always tell my friend Sharen to have grown up in a time when there was kick ass rock coming out like Zep, and Sabbath and Deep Purple you just can't beat that. I am glad that I was turned on to that music when I was younger. People just don't know what they are missing.

Oh well like I said earlier some of these women still look pretty good but when it comes to seeing these bands in concert now days...The chicks aren't what they used to be.

One last thing.. Lita Ford...still looks damn good...

Well...it has been a while and I am sure I have lost 5 of the 6 people who used to actually read this but that's ok.

I have just been super crazy with school lately which has been the reason for the lack of updates. Only 4 months to go which is crazy.

Got away from Winter Park over the weekend and headed to Port Canaveral, FL just outside Cocoa Beach and that was awesome..Hung out with some friends and made some new ones as we downed more drinks than I have in a long ass time. It was pretty awesome having an ocean view all weekend long. I will live at the beach sooner or later, it's just so damn relaxing.

Man it's hard to believe it's almost Christmas...This month of class is every other day which is awesome only 8 days left and that is just crazy.

I have also spent sometime with the new Axl Rose CD. I just refuse to call it Guns N Roses since it really isn't. I have spent some time with this CD and while I like about 8 or 9 tracks it certainly isn't worth waiting 17 years for. After 17 years you best be re-inventing Rock N Roll. This CD is just a bit shy of that. I have yet to read a bad review of the CD anywhere which leads me to believe that the record company has spent a lot of money making sure this disc gets a good word. It looks like it's only going to have sold about 275,000 copies in it's first week. Not what you would expect for a disc 17 years in the making even in our digital world.

Axl best get the band ready for the reunion.

Spent sometime back in St. Louis over the holiday weekend and it's just to cold to live there. Tried to do the tourist thing while I was there but it just didn't happen. I tried to go up in the Arch..Nope. A two hour wait. Tried a helicopter ride..Nope. A 45 minute wait. So I said screw it went to the AB Brewery and took that tour and then proceeded to get drunk. It was nice.

Not a damn thing to report other than it's about that time to wrap up my game class. I can't tell you how happy I am to be done. I am not a gamer at all and this has to have been the worse class in 13 months. Crazy to think it's almost over. Nine more months.

Tonight there just might have to be beers to be drank in celebration. There are also more things on the horizon...New personal website, business site and more all coming in the next couple weeks.

So just because I have not said anything important I think I should post some hot chick...

Trans-Siberian Orchestra

This past weekend was all about the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. If you have not witnessed this show you must. It is the most incredible show you will see. The light show alone will have you coming back to see them, not to mention the band is some of the best musicians around.

I think this was my fourth or fifth time seeing them and I think it was the best yet. I got to see some different players this time and more hot musician chicks. I always ask myself where do they find them?

All the pics were even taken with my iPhone. Not to bad I must say. My friend Kenny Kaplan hooked me up with some awesome seats. He never lets me down.

Anna Phoebe is pictured above and not only is she hot but damn she is kick ass on the electric violin.

The pictures speak much more than I could ever tell you about this band. Great musicians, great show, and a must see for people of all ages.
