Jessika from Lookie What Jeff Did had an old worn out table that looks similar to one you have seen in many homes. Removing the legs, for what I hope will be a future project, they took the table top and made it into a headboard.

I never would have thought of that. Obviously they darkened the wood which makes for a nice contrast against the white bedding.

Painted and Stained Storage Table

Jenn from My Fabuless Life inherited a boatload of old cabinets from her sister. Jenn was needing a little living room storage so she bunched them together and added a top for a pretty “fabuless” piece of furniture. HAHA! (I kill me! {giggle})

I am a sucker for a paint and stain combo and this is no exception. Beautimous Jenn!

Upcycled Ladder Rungs

Karin from Art is Beauty upcycled a broken down ladder into these really cute beach signs she hung on her fence. She got the ladder from her neighbor’s trash heap. I wonder if she made a sign for them out of the rungs that says “how do you like me now?” {giggle}.

I love this little nautical beachy area she created in her yard.

Mismatched Spoon Flower Wreath

My dear friend Jen from Tatertots & Jello has had some luck with Freeycle. I prefer just curb shopping myself but she has scored quite a few gems on Freecycle. She scored a bunch of silver spoons and created a flower that she used on one of her many wreaths a couple of years back. But an oldie is still a goodie right?

She is the queen of wreaths and her use of spoons and old maps on this one is worth a looksie.

White Mid Century Dresser

Dee from My Painted Stuff found this perfectly functional and beautiful Mid Century Dresser on the side of the road. What a score! Again I ask, “WHO THROWS THIS STUFF OUT!?” Great score Dee!

It got a coat of white chalk paint and then she added No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 to the drawers and now she has a one-of-a-kind piece. Ahhhh the power of paint and trash!

Turquoise Ladder

Karen from Redoux Interiors has about as much luck of finding Roadkill Rescue as I do. She is one trashy lady…and I say that with the most utmost respect {giggle}. She found an old wood ladder that just needed some bright turquoise paint to make it pop.

Besides being useful to get one higher they also make great decorating props and shelves for old books and trinkets.

Vintage Wood Slatted Sign

Did you see my vintage sign I made using an old playpen? Over on Infarrantly Creative I am challenged each month by one of the local viewers of a lifestyle show in our area called Indy Style. This month I chose an old wooden playpen for my challenge.

There was no way I was refinishing this back to it’s original purpose – this thing was an ER visit waiting to happen. But the solid wood definitely had a second life to it. I let the stain peek through white primer and created a personalized sign for the viewer.
