The fresh juicy chicken is formed by the owners at their expanding farm facility in Rangpur, under the supervision of trained staff. Under the supervision of a master chef, the signature blend of spices is made with which the chicken is coated for its unique taste and aroma. After the coating is ready they send it to all the branches. In every branch, they have a kitchen beside the cash counter, where chickens are getting fried continuously. So whenever you ordered, you will get freshly fried, hot, spicy chicken.

I always love BFC than others. It has a unique taste. I love BFC because of its spices. Their fried chicken is so soft and juicy inside and crispy outside. which is a perfect example of proper fried chicken I would say. Their fried chicken is always properly marinated and perfectly fried. I tried their food from different outlets and food quality was the same in all the outlets.

Taste: 8/10

I tried Combo meal from BFC. It includes Vegetable fried rice, 1 fried chicken, 1 coleslaw, and 1 large soft drink. I did not like their fried rice that much. It was of average taste to me. But after mixing fried rice with coleslaw it tastes good. Their fried chicken is the best as always. So having together fried chicken with fried rice and coleslaw makes a good taste.

The other thing I love the most about BFC is its ambiance and service. All their outlets are so neat and clean. It is a family place. You can go there with your family and have some quality time. Their staffs are also well trained. So whenever I go there, I always get good service from them.

BFC (Best Fried Chicken) is the most popular and oldest fried chicken restaurant in Dhaka. As there are some international competitors of them in Bangladesh, but still they are running their business successfully. Most of the people in Bangladesh love BFC more than any other fast-food restaurant. So it's a big achievement for them. They are number 1 in the fried chicken sector of the Bangladeshi market, and if they can keep the taste, quality, and service same then they will always be on the number 1.

The Curzon Hall - A journey through 100 years

The Curzon Hall is a British Raj-era building and home of the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Dhaka. Curzon Hall was originally intended to be a town hall and is named after Lord Curzon, who laid its foundation stone in 1904. It was used as a premise for Dhaka College after the annulment of the partition in 1911. After the establishment of Dacca University in 1921, it became the base of the university's science faculty.

Structure:

It is one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture in Bangladesh. It is a blend of European and Mughal architectural influences. The style combined with traditional art mixed with modern technology and Mughal forms such as arches and domes were preferred. The middle section is similar to Diwan-i-Khas in the palace-fortress of Fatehpur Sikri, Emperor Akbar's capital between 1570 and 1585. The British favored Akbar, they thought Akbar is the wisest and most tolerant of all the Mughals. That's why they designed Curzon Hall similar to Diwan-i-Khas as proof that they followed Akbar. Influencing Mughal architecture, they use red color substituting for red sandstone. Most of the building is 2 strode and some of them are 3 strode.

Language Movement:

It was used not only as the physics department but also for other purposes as well after 1947. Muhammad Ali Jinnah (a barrister, politician, and the founder of Pakistan) spoke at the convocation of the University at Curzon Hall on March 24, 1948. He said there "Urdu will be the only state language of Pakistan." His declaration was challenged forthwith at the congregation and that was the inception of the Language Movement. After Muhammed Ali Jinnah's declaration that Urdu alone would be the state language of then Pakistan, the students of Dhaka University protested his proposal by saying "No". And it was in Curzon Hall where they first declared their opposition to the state language policy.

On 21 and 22 February 1952, students from Dhaka University and Dhaka Medical College and political activists made a procession, they were demanding official status for their native tongue, Bengali. Pakistani police force opened fire on Bengali protesters, and some of them were killed. All those happened beside Curzon Hall. And immediately after the events, the first Shaheed Minar was built on 21–22 February 1952 which was beside Curzon Hall where the students were killed.

After the formation of local government by the United Front in April 1954, they decided to construct the new monument. A foundation stone was laid in 1956. The sculptor design of Hamidur Rahman was approved by the committee. The construction started in November 1957 and was completed in 1963. The present "Shaheed Minar" we see is situated beside Curzon Hall and Curzon Hall is Intimately involved with the 1952's Bengali's language movement.

Ambiance,

Curzon Hall is naturally so beautiful. There is a touch of nature everywhere in Curzon Hall. Curzon Hall is surrounded by a lot of trees. There is a road in the middle and fields are full of grass. Students sit on the grass and do gossiping. It is a great place for taking pictures. There is a pond beside Shahidullah Hall. People go there for relaxation.

There is a central hall inside Curzon Hall. This hall is used to take exams.

Travel tips,

Since it is the department of science it’s usually really crowded from 10 A.M. – 2 P.M. And tourists usually visit there on holiday (Friday, Saturday, any other Govt. holiday) in the afternoon. So it remains crowded the whole day. There are no eating facilities inside Curzon Hall. But "Kazi Alauddin Road," which is famous for food is just beside "Curzon Hall." You can just go there by walking or can go there by rickshaw which will cost you 30 BDT/ 0.35$. They are no parking available inside Curzon Hall but can take a motorcycle inside by requesting a security guard.

Curzon Hall is deeply involved with Bangladesh, Bengali language. It is one of the most beautiful structures in Dhaka, which is also bearing the tradition of the Mughal period. So we should visit this place.

"Bismillah Kabab Ghar"- is one of the most popular restaurants for kebab (a middle eastern cuisine) items in Dhaka. If you name the top 5 restaurants for kebabs in Dhaka, "Bismillah Kabab Ghar" will be on the list. People from all over Dhaka went there to have a delicious kebab. The word "Bismillah" is the Islamic phrase "In the name of GOD, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. It is one of the most important phrases in Islam and is used by Muslims mostly before starting "good deeds" as well as most daily actions. Bismillah Kabab Ghor was started by Mr. Mohammad Khorshed in 1990. After he died in 1995, his son Mr. Habibur Rahman is running the business at the same place till now.

Recently, they opened a new branch beside their old branch. They do not have any branch outside Nazira Bazar.

My experience at "Bismillah Kabab Ghor,"

According to google my business, Bismillah Kabab Ghar is open from 4pm. So I went there around 4 o'clock. They were open but not for dine-in. They started selling at 5 pm. So I roam around and waited for them to open. I went to Osmani Uddayan ( a park near Nazira Bazar), but it was closed due to construction work. Then I went to Curzon Hall (Science faculty of the University of Dhaka). After spending some time at Curzon Hall, I went to Bismillah Kabab Ghar again around 5.15 pm. Then it was started selling. I saw some people were sitting inside and some are ordering a takeaway.

I sit beside the cash counter and ordered Chicken Chaap (Leg piece) and Paratha. The price of Chicken Chaap (Breast piece) is 10 BDT/ 0.12$ more than Chicken Chaap (Leg Piece). As my stomach was full and the Leg piece looks good in the picture, so I ordered Chicken Chaap (Leg Piece).

Price: 100 BDT/ 1.17$

Taste: 7.5/10

It was so good in taste. It was well marinated and fried perfectly. The chicken was crispy outside and soft and juicy inside. The spice level was moderate. They add extra Coriander powder or Chaat masala (i guess) on top, which really increases the taste.

Item: Paratha

Price: 8 BDT/ 0.093$ per piece

Taste: 8/10

Most of the restaurants in Dhaka sell Luchi (a deep-fried flatbread) with kebabs. But Bismillah Kabab Ghor is different from others. From the beginning, they are selling Paratha. And still, they are doing the same. In bread items, they only sell paratha. So I took paratha, and it tastes average. soft and less oily. Paratha also tastes good with kebabs.

Item: Special Salad

They serve a special salad with every food item which is free of cost. This unique salad is their tradition. I do not know any other restaurant in Dhaka that serves this type of salad. Most of the restaurants in Dhaka serve Cucumber mixed with Yoghurt salad. But Bismillah Kabab Ghor is different from others on this side as well. Their salad is made of Tamarind juice mixed with Onion. Wrapping the kebab with paratha, then dipping on this sauce, and then putting the whole thing together on the mouth, makes a tasty blast on the mouth.

The service was good. Waiters were wearing a face mask (as I went there during the covid pandemic), and hair caps. The environment was not good. Its looks like Bengali hotels. There was garbage where and there, tables were discolored. Their ambiance couldn't satisfy me.

"Bismillah Kabab Ghor" is one of the most famous kebab places in Dhaka. In the evening, people have to wait outside to get a seat. For their unique taste, they are running their business for more then 30 years. If you are Bangladeshi or come to Bangladesh, you should at least try "Bismillah Kabab." I guaranty you won't be disappointed.

My experience at "Chef's Table Courtside,"

Started my journey around 12pm. At first, I went to Gulshan 2/ Natunbazar. Near Vatara Police Station there were many rickshaws. I took a rickshaw from Vatara Police Station to Chef's Table Courtside at the 40 BDT fair.

Chef's Table Courtside is just beside United International University. the picture of the main entrance is given below.

This is the main entrance. I went there in the autumn season so there was Saccharum Spontaneum (a flower of the autumn season). going straight to this road, the gate of Chef's table Courtside is in the right.

At the entrance, there is a big parking space. I would suggest, if you went there in the evening then you should bring your own transport. Because I went there at noon but there was only one rickshaw while I was returning. And the roads are not that much good. It remains empty in the afternoon so I guess it remains more empty at night.

It is the first indoor foodcourt after entering. There are around 10 food stalls. Besides this, there is another indoor food court that is connected to this through a bridge. On the ground floor, there are some food stalls as well.

This indoor room is fully air-conditioned. If you do not want to sit outside you can enjoy your meal here.

This is outdoor seating. besides this, there is a nursery. You can visit there and purchase trees.

Chicken Tikka Kati Roll

Price: 275 BDT + 10% VAT

Taste: 8.5/10

I ordered the famous Chicken Tikka Kati Roll from Kolkata Kati Avenue. It was so good. There was lots of chicken tikka inside the roll. there were capsicum, egg, and special sauce. All those things were wrapped with a homemade paratha. The chicken was well marinated. It's a very good item for evening snacks.

Taste: 9.5/10

As it was a sunny day so I ordered a Belgian Chocolate milkshake from Moolicious as it is so popular. It was one of the best milkshakes I have ever had. It was so good. Vanilla flavored thin milk mixed with Belgian chocolate. You will feel the chocolate while drinking. This is the best thing I would say. Totally with the price.

This is behind 2nd food court. There is a made-up jungle where people go to take beautiful pictures.

There are some shops on the courtside as well. You can go and purchase things from there. Recently they started an event called "Courtside Bazaar" where you will get different clothing, home decor brands' stalls.

The tranquil beauty of Chef’s Table Courtside makes it an ideal place to host special events and spend quality time with our loved ones without worrying about the busy hustles of regular life. So, sit back and relax at the beautiful landscape of Chef’s Table Courtside. In Dhaka is there is a limited place where you can recreate. Chef's table courtside is one of those. I appreciate the United Group for making this beautiful and the largest food court in Dhaka. We actually need this type of place more in Dhaka.

"Haji Biriyani" of Bangladesh

Haji Biriyani, also known as Hajir Biriyani is one of the oldest restaurants in Dhaka. This restaurant was started in 1939 by Haji Mohammad Hossain. He is the original chef of this recipe. After he died in 1992, his son Haji Golam Hossain took over the business and continued the business with the previous traditions. After Haji Golam Hossain passed away, now his three sons Haji Shahid Hossain, Haji Shahdat Hossain Bappy, and Mr. Tawhid Hossain running the business without making any changes. This becomes a traditional thing of Bangladesh. That's why I titled this blog "Haji Biriyani of Bangladesh." Not only in Bangladesh, but this food is also famous in the whole world as well. People from different countries come to Bangladesh and try this.

This restaurant only has two branches now. One is in Nazira Bazar (Kazi Alauddin Road), which is their first branch since 1939. Recently they opened another branch in Becharam Dewry (Bongshal). Previously they had branches at Motijheel and Bashaundhara Residential Area. But Now they close down these two branches. Now without these two branches, all other branches all over Dhaka are fake. They do not even branch in Dhaka International Trade Fair.

My Experience at "Haji Biriyani"

One fine day, around 2:30 pm, I went to Kazi Alauddin Road to have the famous "Haji Biriyani". I get off from rickshaw at "Bongo Bazar" market. I cross the road and go straight. Walking after a while a reached "Bismillah Kabab Ghor," but "Haji Biriyani" is 100/200 meters before "Bismillah Kabab." I noticed "Beauty Lacchi and Faluda" but did not notice "Haji Biriyani." This happen because Kazi Alauddin Road is always crowded, there was always traffic jam, roads are narrow, so it was tuff to notice another side while walking and "Haji Biriyani" don't have any signboard. So I walk back and finally found "Haji Biriyani." It was overcrowded at 2.30 pm as it was lunch hour. On the left corner, there was a cash counter. And on the right corner, there was a cooking pail which was full of biriyani. You will have to pay after you are done eating.

A man was sitting behind cooking pail and serving the biriyani. Waiters are giving those plates on the table. They sell several of these types of pail every day.

So as it was overcrowded, there was no empty seat inside. I along with some other people waited outside to have a seat. After a while one chair got empty and I got my seat. "Haji Biriyani" only sells one item that is biriyani and recently they added Borhani. So I ordered one-half plate biriyani which cost me 200 BDT. If I took the full plate it will cost me 260 BDT.

Finally, the wait is over. Got my "Haji Biriyani." They give 2 pieces of lemon and unlimited green chili. This is basically a mutton biriyani but with less spice. So it looks like tehari (a famous Bangladeshi food item). There were different pieces of mutton. Most of them were solid pieces with fat or with bone. I heard they took meat from every part of a goat, mixed them up, and cook this delicious biriyani. So you will get meat from different portions. After getting the first bite I was just amazed. It was delicious. I was made with mustard oil so got a strong flavor. This is the only restaurant that sells this different type of biriyani in Bangladesh.

They also have a takeaway service. Their packaging is made of jackfruit leaf. This is also their tradition. From the beginning, they used to serve biriyani in this jackfruit leaf and continuing their tradition till now. They are the only restaurant in Bangladesh that makes their packaging with leaf.

Lastly, "Haji Biriyani" is the place that represents Bangladesh. Heard the name of Puran Dhaka, "Haji Biriyani" is one of the things that hit our minds. "Haji Biriyani" is one of the reasons that Puran Dhaka is famous for. Not only in Bangladesh, but it is also popular among foreign countries as well. This place is running its business for more than 82 years. So it becomes a historical part of Bangladesh. I think everyone should try "Haji Biriyani" at least once in their lifetime.

My experience at "Abul Hotel,"

I went to "Abul Hotel" which is on the ground floor. So it was like kind of typical Bangladeshi Hotel. The environment was not so good. It is small in size and congested. There were two separate cabins for family seating. The service is good. The waiters were helpful.

Price was 120 BDT

Taste: 9/10

I ordered their Faluda, which is a famous Bengali dessert. It tastes so good. This is one of the best Faluda I have ever had in my life. It has a lot of ingredients in it. It has red and green jelly cubes, sliced cherry, sliced apple, some pomegranates, sweet balls, ice cream, murabba, banana, sago, and noodles. After mixing up altogether, it creates a blast inside the mouth. I will definitely recommend this.
